I definitely like Distinction Salon & Spa First Impressions: I have had Hair service(once) and Nails(at least five times) When I call someone friendly answers the phone and it has always been very easy to book an appointment. While checking in the front desk staff has been welcoming and quick to offer coffee or tea… nice :) Hair– I had a conditioning treatment and two extensions colored; Two different stylist actually helped me; Keri-Excellent work: did the hydrating mask, she was sure to ask me questions so as to recommend the correct hair mask. I was impressed that my extensions came out with the correct color purple I was wanting… yay :). Keri had to leave for the day so… Jennifer– Good technique Jennifer stepped in and did a good job on styling my hair. Would come back for hair services in the future. NAILS– GIGI is a real pro! I’ve followed Gigi(or Gracielda as I know her) to two different locations, till she found the right fit. I have acrylic with gel top and she does a fantastic job every time !! Also she’s very talented with free hand art including 3-D art; it’s not every day you find some one who is that skilled in several areas. Looking forward to getting some really pretty nail art(Christmas stuff) for my next fill.

I love this hair salon! It’s the only salon that has never failed me! This is always the first stop I make when I come back home to visit Illinois. Amanda is the best!!! Amazing!

I really liked the girl who cut my hair(Jennifer). She was pleasant and on time, and I thought her technique was great. I don’t think I’ll go back simply because of the front desk staff. I have been there three or four times and each time, was not greeted promptly or even in a friendly manner. The last time I had to wait while this woman chatted with one of the stylists about their plans for dinner that night before even saying hello to me. I get the distinct(haha, pun intended) impression that I am bothering this woman every time I come in the door. Furthermore, they don’t answer the phone! There is nothing more annoying than calling for an appointment and getting a voice mail after ten rings. And from experience, they don’t call you back promptly. There are plenty of hair salons in this area so I think I’ll try out some more.

I sure wish I had read the review from Cassie M. below, before deciding to give this salon a try! Would’ve saved me some money, stress, and tears. Do yourself a favor and find a different salon. I’ll share my experience and then you decide. I asked for the best color person in the salon and was given an appointment via the phone. I arrived on time and sat down, waited for my stylist for 15 minutes before I realized said stylist was chit chatting with the other staff members right in front of my face, all the while I sat there waiting for her to finish talking! So rude to make a client wait while you chit chat with your friends about where you all are going after work! I went in with pictures and talked with the stylist at great lengths before proceeding with the process of highlighting. After several hours of sitting in chairs and at the shampoo bowl, my hair turned out hideous. I asked for caramel highlights and got strawberry blonde ones… with blotches of dark color. I wanted it fixed right then and there but the staff was standing around talking about going out that night and they were waiting for my stylist to finish to go out! It was so uncomfortable! I left, just wanting to get out of there. I had to go to another salon to get my color fixed. The other salon could not believe the mess my hair was in. They encouraged me to call and complain. I called the salon and spoke to the owner. After a lengthy conversation, she only stuck up for the stylist and said she couldn’t give me my money back because I paid for the service that I received. Um… what happened to real customer service? What happened to making sure a client is happy? Do these people not know that part of getting paid is a good RESULT?! DON’T go here if you value your hair or your money.

I hadn’t had a cut/color in a couple years due to illness and finally felt well enough to go for a new color to perk me up! I showed a picture and asked for certain red highlights and a darkest brown(cool) overall. The color was awful. I had to come back twice for a total of 7HOURS. Not easy. Plus I paid and tipped her. I have no idea why I did that. Trying to be kind. The cut was fair. I am pissed because it was a really nice place. Won’t be back. And my hair was so damaged after.

I had 2 pictures of the hair cut I wanted, the shorter in the back and longer in the front look. The lady said, no problem, this will be cute! My hair looks like someone put a bowl on it and cut it. I could have cut my own hair like this! She kept messing up and one side was longer than the other, so she kept chopping away, chopping away, chopping away. I specifically said I need to be able to pull my hair back in a pony tail because I don’t have time to do my hair most days. My hair cut ended up being shorter in the front and longer in the back, and I definitely cannot pull it back in a pony or half up. She said, well, do you have a headband? Thanks for botching my hair! She then starts highlighting. I showed her the color I wanted, and specifically said no orange… I want it blond. The whole way through she is complaining about how much hair I have. After she finished, my hair is over my eyes and she doesn’t even care if I’m comfortable. She comes to check my hair to see if it’s done, but said, «it’s orange, we have to let it sit longer.» Checks it 10 mins later, same thing, checks it again, same thing. Finally she said«I guess your hair just won’t take the color because of your hard water… you won’t ever be able to have the color you want because of your water.» I’ve had this color before and showed her a pic of my own hair and the color it was. So she washes it and says, «Oh, it’s orange, I’m going to have to put a toner on it.» The receptionist lady came to check on her and make sure she was almost done, but this lady said«well look at her hair, it’s not good, I have to put this toner on it to cover up the orange.» As I lay there, I’m freaking out. Way to make your client feel comfortable! So she blow dries it, and said it’s really thick on the ends, should we put layers in it? She said oh no, you don’t want layers. So I said, well can we thin it out a little bit on the ends? «Oh no, you’ll see after I blow dry it and do your hair. It will look really nice.» My hair is now 2 inches below my ears and where the new growth is it is almost white and the highlights after the new growth is orangy/blond. So I check out, they charged me for the hair cut, full highlights b/c my hair is so thick but I only got partial, and toner. Who screwed up my hair and had to use the toner? I even tipped her, why? I wanted to go running out of this salon, I was itching to get out of this place and now I want to call Tabitha to takeover this salon. This experience was horrifying and I will never go back. I hope this review helps somebody else to never use this salon.

I bought an Illuminating Body Scrub off groupon and was a little leary of the drive but it was worth it and more! Valerie was my massage therapist and her work is awesome! You walk in the door and you are promptly greeted and offered something to drink. I was early for my appointment but was quickly taken back to the spa area. The body scrub itself was worth every penny! My skin feels so unbelievably soft and smooth. I am definately going back!
