Wow! It was the best latte that I had ever had. It was the Vanilla bean and I would drive back in a heartbeat.
I had gotten the sandwich, which was just ok, but man that latte was great. I literally called my wife and told her how good it was just to make her jealous!
Keep it up and I will be back!!!

My parents take Sunday yoga classes in downtown Crystal Lake and I am currently living in Chicago. I have more than once taken the train from Chicago to Crystal Lake. While I am waiting for my parents to finish up yoga, I stop by Grounds and get a coffee. Everything is amazing! I have gotten the Nutella latte, White Mocha Latte, and I got something else that I cannot remember at this point. Both coffees have been on point.

This is such a cute little coffee shop in downtown Crystal lake. Close enough to stop here before you hop on the train. Also worth the walk to this side of the tracks after shopping down Main Street or hitting up the farmers market in the summer.

Love this place! Stop in here frequently and they have great coffee. Blows Starbucks totally out of the water. If you are looking for a great cup of joe and prefer to spend money locally, this is your place. Very good selection of pastries and variety of coffee drinks. The staff are awesome and always pleasant. I will happily spend my money in this fine establishment.

I’m sitting outside of Grounds working and enjoying my delicious coffee when a very frustrated customer runs outside because the train came early (Grounds has the fortunate location of being across from the Crystal Lake train station) thus leaving her coffee behind as the barista was making it. She was obviously upset and felt guilty. Seconds later the barista runs outside after the train and hands her the ice coffee seconds before the train car door closes! That’s the ultimate customer service!!! The barista’s name is Riley. Support this local business!

It was a nice surprise to find Grounds Coffee Bar in Crystal Lake. I love small independent shops and seek them out whenever I’m looking for a cup of Java or Espresso. Grounds serves Hansa brand coffee which is one of my favorites. It’s a cozy café across from the train station and worth the effort to find. My Latte was perfectly crafted by a friendly barista and I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area.

I finally got to Grounds this past Sunday after hearing from a friend how wonderful and how great her clients say it is. Just had to try it. Wasn’t impressed. I got the lavender vanilla latte and she got the Nutella latte. Mine tasted like a flower and hers tasted like watered down chocolate milk with Nutella chunks coming up the straw. The nice kid mixing the drinks was super helpful and informative I just didn’t get much of the coffee taste or pick-​me-​up I was hoping for like I get from my daily Starbucks fixes. I will return to give them another whirl at Grounds it’s a super cute coffee shop maybe they were just having an off morning.

What a gem! Friendly owners, delicious coffee, lots of sweets & breakfasty scones & rolls, and I LOVE that I’m just steps away from the train on the correct side of the tracks heading to Chicago. It’s coffee shop perfection.

A great coffee shop. They carry high end beans. I with-​held from a full 5 stars, only because the barista skill are not as good as good as Conscious Cup, which is across town. But that is setting the bar ridiculously high. So, make no mistake, this is a GREAT coffee shop. Which would blow away silly chain coffee shops like Starbuck, Peets, and Caribou (if you can even find those anymore). Plus the help here really is just so damn friendly. They make you feel right at home, and are happy and warm feeling. Great place.

This place is so cute! Everyone is ridiculously friendly and the coffee is delicious. It’s on the perfect side of the train if you are heading TO Chicago in the morning. Definitely recommend.
