Had the beer nugget appetizer with a check in… That was pretty good. The bartender can mix a very decent old fashioned… Hard to hit the off switch, but gotta be safe driving. We had the double decker pizza and although it wasn’t what we all had in mind as far as size goes, it was 100% high quality… I would definitely come back if I lived here. Loved it.

Famous local pizza place in the land of pizza. Great looking place with good times for all. Thin crust and double dough pizza. If you want deep dish look elsewhere but you should try theirs. It is good. Separate full bar area with TV’s to watch the games. Small arcade for the kids. Great rustic atmosphere. There signature trait is free peanuts in the shell on all tables. And when you are done just through them on the floor. They hire good looking waitresses on purpose. Well if you know Nick… :-)

Been to Nick’s many times and never had a pie I didn’t love. Add to that a great beer selection, warm atmosphere and friendly servers and yes, Nick’s is as good as it gets!

Sorry guys. 3⁄5 because of dumb waitress that was talking to other waitress for good 10 – 15 minutes while we were looking at her and waiting for our menu. After this she acted even more not professional taking plates with food left without even asking if we finished or not. Ugh. Burger is plain. 2⁄5 Pizza is good. 5⁄5. Interior is nice. 4⁄5 So yes. 3⁄5. Don’t think I’ll come back. Sorry.

One of the best pizzas in the burbs. We visit Nick’s quite often and had recently placed catering order for my sons first birthday party. Obviously i was little anxious but special thanks to catering manager Monica for taking care of everything. The food delivered right on time and as always great service.

Great atmosphere but just ok pizza. I’ve been to Nicks quite a few times and love the atmosphere. For sure the kids love it. But the pizza isn’t really very good. For some reason it doesn’t taste very fresh. Like it is frozen and a little lacking in taste. Anyway, if you are looking for a great environment that feels like a great deep woods lodge, Nicks is great. If you are looking for great pizza… maybe try Lou Malnati’s.

I owe it to my wife for this experience. She had seen the numerous reviews on here and figured, heck a 100+ people cannot be wrong. Or can they? It definitely was an experience going here. Worth it? Not so sure. On to the details of our family dining experience at Nick’s Pizza & Pub. Upon walking through the oversized wooden, chain ladened doors we were greeted and promptly seated. It was busy at 6pm on the Friday night. Always a good sign, that means kitchen is hopping with orders. We were seated on the 2 floor area. I was thinking, hmm we have a toddler, put us all way top in a corner. I can deal with it. The other patrons, well it’s not the fault of the establishment, but during our tour of duty, had encountered some interesting folks. Firstly, there was a couple of high school aged boys sitting next to us. They didn’t talk to each other, they played on their phones. They were an awkward sort. That’s alright, no worries. They felt menacing and that’s when the manager comes by and asks them if every thing is alright. There was a slight pause and what seemed to be a communication gap. Manager turns to our table, asks the same question and told him all is easy peasy. The waitress hands them their tab and asks how they want to pay for it(split up, drinks on one, etc). Once again, awkward communication gap. They pay and leave. Moments later, an elderly couple sits at the same table. They see our son is not happy in his baby seat and continue to eat peanuts and carelessly fling them at our feet. Talk about invading our personal space because they simply did not care for children or want us there. I guess when you get to be their age, they had forgotten what it’s like to be young again. I’m sure it was decades, maybe eons ago. Anywho, our order arrives. We ordered for my son a cheeseburger(it was cooked right) and carrots. My wife had the chicken wrap with fries and I had the individual Nick’s special thin pizza. My wife liked her wrap. After taking my son for a quick walk on the 2nd floor, we had come back to see that there was nothing left except the fries. She did mention that the fries were good. I didn’t get a chance to steal some as I normally do. Ahh, the perks of being married! The food is alright. After seeing other’s reviews, I can honestly say the pizza is not something to run home about. It has a nice crunchy crust, but it wasn’t great. Sauce was mildly sweet and vegetables were sliced thinly on top. There is better in the area. But to mention another place is comparing apples to oranges. We pay our tab and my wife finds out that our server is so new, that it was her first night on the job. She was nice and the rest of the staff and the manager. Kudos to them. Friendly faces, attention to detail. I like that. The patrons, were weirdly awkward. Maybe it’s the area? But definitely less than friendly. Décor is kitschy hunter outdoorsy. I’m sure it was something to say in it’s hey day, let’s go to Nick’s. Just my .02 and then some.

I feel their pizza has gone down in quality over the years. When i moved to this area this place was my favorite; my mother still comments that it was the best pizza she ever had. However, we have had their Nick’s Special and got soggy results; we were then told that this was our fault for ordering this pizza on their menu in a double-decker crust(which is on their menu) and it was because of the vegetables. I would expect that if a business cannot deliver the pizza in a quality that is edible then they should not sell that type of pizza. The other issue is that our son has a peanut allergy so we cannot ever dine in. I do not expect others to have to alter their lives for our challenge but I will say it limits the patrons to their restaurant because of the peanuts.

Was invited to celebrate a family member’s surprise 40th bday! This was my first time being from Cali. The main entrance door is unique and heavy. The chained door handle is a very nice touch. When you walk in the atrium had another heavy door with another chain door handle. You can tell this place is well-liked. The place was packed and there were many happy faces. We were greeted by our waitress Christy. She was very friendly and very helpful. She was also very responsive and quick to come back with what we needed. Ok so we had a variety of appetizers with salad. We had garlic bread sticks, bread nuggets, hot chicken wings, fried mushrooms and celery sticks. I have to say my favorite was the hot chicken wings. I’ve had my share and I think this is one of the best. It wasn’t too greasy and the spices were just right. I like it spicy so I could have added a little bit more spice but I think it’s sufficient for others. Now for the pizza, OMG let me just say I’ve had my share of pizzas from Cali, NY and NJ. This is one of the best the crust is crispy, thin and cooked just right. I don’t eat beef or pork so I only had the bruschetta and I think I could have eaten the entire pizza on my own. I didn’t of course. When you check-in on Unilocal you get a free bread nugget. I tried to redeem mine last night because I’m not from here but because we already had so much appetizer I decided to save for later. I sure hope I can still redeem it when I come back. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place. There’s lots to do. I didn’t get to see it but there’s an arcade area. This is very good for families.

This is a wonderful place for family get-togethers, birthdays, and other special occasions where peanuts and pizza factor into the equation! Or, come here if you’re just looking for some great-tasting pizza! I’ve been here plenty of times with friends and family since it first opened. I don’t recall ever having a bad experience with Nicks. I was there last Saturday with my brother since he was back home visiting and my parents. The servers were friendly. We had a new guy doing some on-the-job-training with another staff member, but he warned us ahead of time(not like he needed to because the service was still on par). I would like to comment on the décor because that’s what really takes this dining experience up a notch. The whole place, inside and out, resembles a hunting lodge! The walls are decorated with lots of wall-mounted animal specimens, and everything is made out of wood. I think it’s pretty cool! Inside you will also find a small arcade and bar. The only drawback I have about this place, and this is a very small complaint, is that sometimes the air picks up and carries peanut dust! I guess this is what happens when you’re allowed to toss peanut shells on the floor all day long!

Unbelievable pizza. Thin crust done right. Crunchy crust, some of the best décor, free peanuts you can throw on the ground and excellence service! Not the place to be if you don’t like a loud atmosphere but I love it so I feel at home. Prices are high for a pizza place but well worth it if you love quality.

Pretty fun time here. Its way out in the suburbs. Its covered in wood and peanuts and presents itself like a pretty normal«this is country» type of place. Instead of a steak house it is a pizza/pub. Checking in gets your free beer nuggets. The rest of the appetizers are pretty good. The pizza is small and they overestimate how many people it feeds. The double decker is also confusing — not sure where the second deck is. I’d say if you are out this way and want some pizza you won’t go wrong, but don’t go out of your way.

Come to Nicks often for the pizza. Nicks pizza is in the team picture of the best I’ve had INMYLIFE! And I grew up in Chicago, and I’m real old! Never had the Italian beef because I just come for beer and PIZZA! So I finally decided to try the beef sandwich because that’s all I hear about. OMFG!!!

I went to Nicks before me and my family saw a show at the Crystal Lake Raue Center. We had such a great time. Pizza and drinks were perfect. Our server Alex S. Was amazing. It was good to see that this Crystal Lake landmark is still going strong. I have no negatives about our experience. 10⁄10 atmosphere, food, and service.

My second favorite pizza in the area. We love the knotted/braided crust and the buttery smooth sauce. I do not like pizza, however, I could eat this and Lou’s every other day and be perfectly happy. We also love the laid back atmosphere and we have never had bad service. Great place to have a small party, too!

Great pizza here, right up there with my favorite other pizza in the area, but the other place is only carry out. We had a great dinner there tonight, but unfortunately the service and/or the kitchen blew it. My wife and I split a pizza and our daughter had a burger. The pizza was brought out and our waitress said the burger would be «out in a minute.» Five minutes pass, she came by and apologized the«kitchen messed up and gave her fries away» and it would be «another minute» for her burger. Five minutes pass and she finally got her food just as my wife and I were almost done eating.

I have to get this out of the way before I get into the review itself– if you took off all of the signs, etc. at Nick’s I would swear that I was at Bill’s Pizza and Pub in Mundelein. As others have mentioned, both Bill’s and Nick’s have baskets of peanuts and patrons throw the shells on the floor. It seems to me that the decorations and theme of both restaraunts are also nearly identical. I hope that the management will take this as the complement that it is intended to be, as Bill’s Pub is one of my favorite Pizza«joints» in the Chicago Burbs. That having been said! I joined a group of friends at Nick’s to celebrate our friend Cindy’s September birthday recently. We were given a nice semi-private room in the back(unfortunately we had several no-shows so we ended up not needing all of that space) that suited our folks just fine. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and everyone as far as I could see had their needs/wants taken care of very efficiently indeed. It was certainly nice to have someone waiting on us that was keeping an eye when we needed drinks, etc. and was willing to hustle. Our server was also nice in volunteering to take pix of the group. Big thank you! Several people ordered the Mexican Pizza which has Seasoned Meat, Mozzarella & Cheddar Cheese, Green Onion, Tomatoes, Black Olives, and Jalapeño Peppers(optional) to give it a try. Terri and I were quite pleased with the texture of the crust and also with the taste of the ingredients. As noted above, the Mexican Pizza can be ordered with or without Jalapeño peppers; we ordered«with» and that is how I suggest you order it unless you have a real issue with spicy food. I really wanted to try their calzones as the ones being served to a nearby table looked tasty– perhaps another time! After we had placed our order– I noticed that whole wheat crust is optional so that’s another something to try during a future visit. Some of the ladies in the group tried the sangria by the glass which was rated«two thumbs up». Overall I would say that Nick’s is a great place for casual dining and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great pizza and cold adult beverages.
