I haven’t eaten McDonald’s in over a year(except maybe three occasions where I really wanted some fries) because I’ve been eating healthier. I used to be hooked on this junk, but when you step away for a while, you can really taste how gross it is! Anyway, my son got gift cards from his dad’s side of the family for Christmas. He wanted me to pick up some hot cakes for him and I went with the grilled southwest salad, which really isn’t a bad salad. Not what McDonald’s salads used to look like. The problem for me though, no tomatoes, what is a southwest salad with no tomatoes? Worse, the chicken was clearly undercooked, I am very picky about my chicken because even the slightest pink will tear my stomach apart. I popped it in the microwave before eating, and actually enjoyed a bowl full of romaine and spinach with not too much cheese, actually quite impressed McDonald’s. And shocked. You lost points for the undercooked chicken though, and no tomatoes. Service was nothing special, but nicely paced and no complaints.

McDonald’s is one of those companies that has a questionable reputation and establishments like the one in Culpeper, show exactly why. 5 team members were sitting in the lobby, being loud and disruptive, there was a line to the door, one employee was playing with another employees hair(gross!!!) and then helping people! There was NOONE taking orders for over 10 minutes! They were just standing there. I couldn’t even find someone in charge/no manager. Most people don’t expect a lot from McDonald’s but this is just over the top. So disgusting and disappointing.

Management rep called me today and assured me my experience at this McDonald’s on 8⁄4 would be dealt with. Everything is on video. Really, if these young people know about the cameras and act as they tells me a lot about our youth. I hope none of these youngsters end up being politicians. lol No, we were all young and most of us acted foolishly at one time or another. I just don’t understand the level of disrespect. lol… just realized this post was never posted..

So recently the Micky D’s here in o’l fell under hard times due to the removal of an elderly couple and gained new management, and it still is no improvement! I am aware this a fast food joint and should not expect too much but the customer service there is not better its worse. Last night for instance we sat in the drive through for almost 30 minutes, 30! We ordered Mc’ Fluries by the way. When we finally got to the window I asked what was the hold up, and the associate said some one entered in something wrong. I replied, our Mc’ Fluries are probably melted, the associate replied, they probably are, handed us our treats and then closed the window. I’m sorry, but that response was the last straw. Since the new management the place has sunk. No one there gives a damn how the service is, much less the new manager. And this is NOT the first time this has happened. We might still eat here in the future but not for a while. I think McDonald’s should look long and hard at who the hire in the future.

Mr. Drumheller — I just read the article about your horrible and pretentious actions toward Mr. and Mrs. Becker. How dare you! Apparently, although you are a business owner, you have absolutely no sense when it comes to customer service, nor does your staff. Two free small coffees for this, you and McDonald’s Corporate are beyond ridiculous. I live across the country but I sincerely hope that everyone sees this story and heads to Shawn’s Smokehouse Bar-b-que, who offered the couple a free weekly«scrunch». He knows how to treat customers!

Don’t eat here unless you think that tossing a bill-paying couple out and offering them two small coffees is «right.» Seriously, if McD’s gave a hoot about its brand, they would revoke this franchise NOW. McD’s failure to revoke WOULD have done irreparable damage to the brand… except that nobody expects good food or good treatment at McD’s any longer. And McD used to be a valuable trademark. My, how things have changed.

This location and McDonald’s from corporate all the way down ought to be ashamed and embarrassed for it’s treatment of out military service men and women not to mention the elderly. SHAMESHAMESHAME. I wish their were zero stars to rate. I love America and you are an absolute disgrace. DISGRACE!

I read the story about the elderly couple that was asked to leave by your poorly-trained employees. What harm were they causing? While the owner is busy training his employees how about adding in some education about compassion and empathy and common sense.

My wife and I have stopped in this McD’s on several motorcycle trips out through Culpepper. We’ve made our last stop. Any establishment that would kick a couple in their 80’s — and a WWIIVETERAN! — out, doesn’t deserve my business. McDonald’s Culpepper… you STINK.

Elderly couple kicked out of McDs welcomed elsewhere Wednesday — 3÷12÷2014, 10:05am ET By Kathy Stewart WASHINGTON — An elderly couple who was kicked out of a Culpeper, Va. McDonald’s for sitting too long now has a free place to eat lunch every Wednesday. The owner of Shawn’s Smokehouse BBQ Company, also in Culpeper, reached out to the couple after hearing their story last weekend and offered them a free weekly lunch, Barbara Becker, 81, says. The restaurant’s owner, Shawn Moss, says he also plans on starting a «scrunch time,» between lunch and dinner, when seniors can sit and chat over free coffee at his restaurant. Carl Becker, 87, a World War II veteran, and his wife Barbara, say they were at the Culpeper McDonald’s on Feb. 21 at about 2:30 p.m. when they were approached by the manager. The location is a place the pair has frequented for years. «And he says ‘You two are going to have to leave.’ He said ‘Your half hour is up and we need to clean this floor,’» says Barbara Becker. The restaurant was not crowded at the time, she says, and the two were stunned. This was the first time they had ever been asked to leave a McDonald’s.

Any place that would kick out people for staying too long is no place I want to eat. Shame on you… especially given that they were elderly!

Kicks senior citizens out of an empty restaurant. Don’t go here. Spread the word. Go somewhere else.

They suck. There’s no nicer way of putting it. The only saving grace is the guy at the first window who takes your money if I go there late afternoon or evening time. He’s always smiling and asks how I’m doing. He’s so chill… Other than that, the service blows, they usually screw the orders up(Even though their pick list is RIGHT, seems not a single one of the pickers can ever read), they never answer the phone so you can TELL them they screwed your order up so if you happen to have been ordering for work? Well, expect a second trip if you don’t check everything before leaving. This includes every drink if you’re doing drive through, making sure every single order of fries are there, and I would probably go so far as to check the sandwiches if you had any special orders because they are famous for not getting that right too. The people behind the counter inside half the time are hiding their cell phones behind the counter or around the corner but it’s still pretty obvious they care more about that then customer service. When they’re not chatting on their cell, they are usually chatting to EACHOTHER and not even bothering to look at the customer. Since when does it take two people at the window to give me my order? Inevitably one is standing there talking to the other, and behind them you can usually see two more chatting it up right near the main counter. Two for every station? I don’t know how they are working it but all I can think of when i go there is that they must need two employees for each station, one to do the work and the other to chat them up and keep them entertained! Don’t get me wrong, i don’t go to McDonalds to socialize but it is polite to at least look and smile at the person who’s paying for the food and essentially who’s paying your pay check. I don’t need to hear what this chick did with that guy last night and what a hoe she is while i’m trying to get my nephews some nuggets… And this is at the drive thru, where I should be even LESS likely to hear this kind of conversation. Seriously? Get real. I can’t believe this place even has a manager. Or maybe the manager is one of the people I see chatting it up, and that’s the problem. Who knows? The new setup for the drive thru did very little to fix the traffic problem, as now half the parking lot is blocked in when there’s even a large line at the drive thru… And there always is. They do move fairly quickly through their orders, I will give them that, but that’s probably because they never get them 100% right so you sacrifice quantity for quality. When I DO get around to the window of the drive thru, they’re always asking me what I got like they can’t keep their orders straight. Without fail I have to sort through exactly what I got, and that’s with the person at the window only paying half attention. Usually I have to say no to like 2 or three things before they finally get my order right meaning their organization process leaves much to be desired. Next time I’ll just take it all and tell them I had several orders since THEY never seem to know. One time they even argued with me that I ordered something that I did not. I got the feeling the girl had screwed up and didn’t want to admit it so on top of my food(Which I think they had to remake?) I just stopped saying no and let her pass the free food to me. Im sure someone would eat it or it would go in the trash. Whatever it took to shut her up, that’s all I could think at the time. Bottom line? I dread work saying ‘We’re going McDonalds today!’ and if the kids want a quick burger, or nuggets, you can bet i’ll go to the more expensive Wendy’s or even go out of my way to go to Burger King just to avoid McDonalds if at all possible. I like their new Satisfries better anyways. Now why did I spend this extreme amount of time reviewing McDonalds of all places when they probably won’t even read this crap or be affected by it? And then I hate going there so much now days? Because I’m sitting here with a messed up order once again, and I’m irritated enough to waste the 10 minutes it probably took me to write this review since they AGAIN won’t answer the phone so I can explain how they screwed my order up so maybe they can offer some agreeable form of compensation. One sandwich to the order and not even a special order sandwich and they couldn’t even PULL the correct sandwich… So if I’m going to lose the money for the screw up in order, I might as well take my frustration out somewhere. So here you go, McDonalds. You suck. That’s my review.

Glad to see an updated McDs on our road trips to Lake Anna. There are finally new FOODEXIT signs to warn you that when you’re at the RT29&3 turnoff that it’s almost 3 miles up the road. Order staff is capable but the coordination between all areas is slow going, so be prepared to wait for your food, ice cream, or mixed coffee drinks. Overall it’s clean and has TV& Wifi, no too bad for being out in the country. ;)

Biggest case of bait-and-switch ever. Here’s a tip to all you hungry drivers on the James Madison Highway approaching the Fredericksburg Rd exit, who suddenly spot a huge billboard with those beautiful golden arches compelling you to exit: KEEPDRIVING! Being new to this area and starving for some nutritious morning grub before I jetted to New York, I unwittingly exited here, expecting to see a McDonald’s within a few blocks. This mistake almost cost me my flight out of DCA. The first sign told me to keep on driving, so I drove a mile-and-a-half down Fredericksburg wondering where the hell civilization was. Just as I was about to turn back, another sign told me to take a right on Main. «Great, must be right down the block,» I figured. WRONG. This error in judgement proceeded to take me through another mile-and-a-half stretch of some of the slowest, two-laned small-town traffic you could ever imagine, straight through downtown Culpeper and all her wonderful mom-and-pop shops. At this point, I knew should have turned back, but had no idea if I was almost there, so of course I kept on driving, though all 10+ minutes of Main St morning traffic. FINALLY, I spotted what I’d been waiting for for 20 full minutes… only to see that the drive-through wrapped around the entire brick building and then some. So I said screw it and left. Unfortunately, my GPS then took me down a 25 mile farmy detour called Rixeyville Rd, before I was finally able to reunite with the 29. Burned through my entire 1-hour buffer time. This type of baiting via the use of multiple signs is like dangling a piece of meat in front of your nose and making you run in circles for 20 minutes, only to find that the meat was tofurkey all along. It should be illegal. Avoid this McDonald’s at all costs, if simply for the shady advertisements and ridiculously long lines.

The drive-thru is almost always busy here, but they make it go fast. The staff is always pleasant & quick. You can’t beat the dollar menu & they’re open 24 hours!
