This is my second time eating here. I was actually hoping I would have something bad to write about this place so that I wouldn’t appear so one-sided in all of my reviews, but honestly, I have to give this place five stars. Being a fan of Peruvian food, I frequented El Pollo Inka and Mario’s in Hollywood whenever I wanted my fix. These places are good, but this place is fantastic! Being that it is a bakery first, restaurant second, the bread is fresh and savory the Peruvian punch tastes homemade and the Aji sauce is always right on point. I have had the Chaufa de Pollo, the Lomo Saltado, salmon salad and salmon fried rice and it was all worthy of five stars. Aside from the delicious food, the personable service is what keeps me coming back.

We are from Peru and always looking for good Peruvian restaurants. This is the right place. Goods favors, very reasonable prices. The lomo saltado and the ceviche are the real deal. The anticucho is different but never the less very good. We will come often. We will try other dishes and keep you posted.

LOVE the mango ceviche. I have experience with Peruvian/Ecuadorian style of Ceviche. It’s distinct from Mexican ceviche. It does not have any tomatoes just fresh seafood in a mango citrus marinade with raw onions and the hallmark«choclos»(large Andean white corn) and«tostados»(toasted corn). This is the best ceviche I have had since the beach in Salinas Ecuador. I have been a couple times, but only for takeout. I have promised staff that I will stay and eat next time :) The staff are charming and I was told they are introducing a new menu tomorrow. Can’t wait to try it out.

Simply amazing food! I’ve been a huge fan of Peruvian cuisine since I first tried it and this is the best I’ve had. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu but the mango ceviche, lomo saltado and pulpo olivo were all outstanding. Tiny place… very freindly and wish they served beer but the food is the star. Outstanding flavors that are complex and sophisticated while still satisfying like a home cooked meal. I hope this is successful and stays put being a Culver City resident. I plan on eating here A LOT.

Definitely a must try in Culver City. This is much more than just a bakery. The food was mouth-watering. The various ceviches are a must try at this restaurant. The chicha morada(typical Peruvian non-alcoholic beverage) has a very natural/homemade flavor. The bread and accompanying sauce are out of this world. We also got to try the arroz chaufa(Peruvian fried rice with lots of seafood), as well as the lomo saltado — divine! I highly recommend this place! The owner is very personable and makes sure the customers are satisfied with the overall experience. Two thumbs up!

Ooo emmm geee. Better than the well known Peruvian restaurants. Hehe. I had saltado but asked for a change in how it’s prepared meat wise since I do not eat meat.(which I do at other Peruvian restaurants as well). I asked for fish saltado, saltado de pescado, which is not on the menu but the owner was so kind and did not fuss about it, he said yes, he just needed to tell the chef. It was hands down better than any other place. My BF ordered Lomo Saltado with the upgrade of filet mignon. He said better tasting than any other Peruvian restaurant as well. It is a small place, a few tables only. It is a bakery also, fresh baked bread loafs and baked sweet goods. We also got two raspberry turnovers for dessert, to stuffed to eat them right now. Lol. I will return for sure. A bit pricey, be prepared.

A small hidden gem! Had the pulpo ceviche, lomo saltado, arroz con mariscos, scallops. I didn’t keep ordering cause I couldn’t eat more. All I can say is I can die right now and I’ll be happy. Thanks to the chef.

This place is a gem. Wonderful Ceviche and Chifa. I can’t speak to the cheaper versions, I recommend upgrading you fish and filet, they were seriously delicious. The décor and ambiance are an issue if that’s your issue, but I’d eat this food in a dank dark cave because it’s that good. Very authentic and great service.

Went there for Mother’s day lunch and the hidden gem was rather a disappointment. The first disappointment was a special Mother’s day menu that did not have all the items. Anyways, the place is like a small mom and pop shop with a very little space to spread out. There were tables and chairs that were cramped. We ordered Mango bass ceviche, Chaufa de Mariscos and Seafood Soltado. While seated, we received complimentary pale breads with a spicy green sauce but we did not get the chips(while they offered the complementary chips to a table with a bunch of known customers. Not sweating out on a $ 2 chips, but they should stick to what they serve to every customer). The mango ceviche was really good. The quality of seafood was up to the mark. They charged $ 16 instead of $ 12.99 just for Mother’s day. Seafood Soltado and the other dish was ok. Point is, in a bakery shop, I am not sold for a $ 53 bill(without tip) with zero décor and just meeting standard food. I will go to Marios next time.

Amazing! Never would have noticed this spot had it not been for one of my friends who visits the place regularly. All I can say is WOW!!! It was my first time trying Peruvian food… and definitely won’t be my last. I ordered the Mango Ceviche and was thoroughly impressed! Delicious! I’m not huge on strong tasting seafood. This dish included mussels, calamari, shrimp, fish(bass I think… but don’t quote me), and hominy. Wasn’t too strong at all! I loved it! It was great on the bread provided or on the tostadas I already had. I also ordered the Lomo Saltado Filet Mignon. It was hot upon arrival(I ordered take out) and exploded with flavor. By far the best I’ve had. Two thumbs up! Don’t miss out. Check out the photos and head over asap! The vibe is friendly, small, and quaint.

TALKABOUT A HIDDENGEM! Street parking is easy to find but there might be some spots available in the back lot(not sure if it’s strictly for employees). The store is definitely cozy and can use a little sprucing up. Which reminds me, the owner said in about a month or two, it’ll be completely revamped. Cant wait for the changes and added menu items! I went with my roommates and we all loved our food! We ordered the Mango Ceviche with bass, Lomo Saltado($ 15.99 — filet mignon, $ 11.99 — ribeye), Chaufa de Mariscos and Tallarin Soltado. — Mango Ceviche: really enjoyed the acidity and tangy aspect of this dish. There were generous amounts of seafood as well. Highly recommend! — Lomo Saltado: bomb. Filet was cooked perfectly and his house made sauces pair amazingly well. Ask for the yellow pepper sauce! — Chaufa de Mariscos: sorta like a Peruvian fried rice with hella seafood! How can you go wrong with that? — Tallarin Soltado: the red wine sauce used in this was yummy! My roomie said she didn’t like how thick the noodles were but I enjoyed it. What made this experience stand out compared to my other fattie adventures was the service. The owner and everyone else in the shop had the most genuine smiles on their faces and even took time to talk to us and see how our food tasted. The owner even invited us back for free pisco sours and ceviche! I will most definitely become a regular.

This place is TINY. Only 4 small tables. When you peek inside you’ll see a small selection of pastries at the counter, modest tablecloths, and only one guy wearing a soiled apron holding down the front. Imagine our surprise when we discovered Lonzos’ fresh bread with homemade spicy chimchurri, spectacular Peruvian dishes, and vibrant ceviche dishes. Definition of a hidden gem. Lomo Saltado(choice to upgrade to filet mignon): excellent version of a classic dish. What stands out the most is how good the sauce is! An unexpected level of complexity from the red wine, yet deeply umami. Even when the steak was gone, I couldn’t stop eating the rice — I wanted to get every drop of sauce left. Mango Ceviche(choice to upgrade to sea bass): Followed the recommendation of many Unilocalers and went for it. This dish is bright and colorful, the mango sauce lends its tang without being overly sweet. Comes with tender octopus, mussels, fresh chunks of fish. Big pieces of inca corn help lend some crunch and texture as well. Don’t forget to get the homemade passion fruit tea as well! HIGHLYRECOMMEND this place. Definitely a unique dining experience in Culver city. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the price tag is rather hefty for the modest setting.

It was a great spot to eat Peruvian food. I had the calamari which was perfectly cooked and tendered. The service was great it, we had complementary thinly sliced chips and fresh bread. The green aji, which was spicy and tasted fresh. My main meal was the lomo saltado with bistec(steak). The food was amazing, very tendered and chunky meat. The ingredients tasted very fresh as well. The services was great, I was told that it gets busy around 5pm and on, best to make reservations. I when around 12:30 and it was slow, which they gave us the best service. This bakery looking spot, just adopted their new menu about 4 months ago. I believe their menu is going to take them to great success. My new favorite Peruvian spot to eat. Especially since they came out on the LA Times as best food. Also the waiter recommended next time the ceviche de mango.

Wow. What a great little find. The food was delicious. I just was looking for something in culver city on the way to the airport that was not expensive and casual. I got the Lomo Saltado Filet Mignon. Perfectly cooked and seasoned on a bed of fries. Excellent. I had to clean my plate of that delicious sauce with their home made complimentary bread! I’m going back to taste more of this menu. The man taking care of us was so friendly. We need more restaurants like this

Lonzo’s Bread is absolutely incredible. It is without a doubt the best Peruvian restaurant in Los Angeles, and quite possibly the best restaurant of any kind in LA. This hole-in-the-wall Peruvian restaurant and bakery is a gem that you need to come and experience. Everything is exceptional. My review is broken down into the following headers: the Chef, the mango ceviche, the lomo saltado, the passionfruit drink, the bread, the dessert, the service & price, and final thoughts/tl;dr. ====The Chef==== Chef Walter Adrianzen is extremely talented. This LA-native has worked in the restaurant industry since he was a kid, and his love for cooking and transforming simple ingredients into elevated dishes is remarkable. Every component of his dishes are transformed and combined so that each ingredient complements one another. I should also add that the bread here, which I am guessing is made by Chef Adrianzen’s aunt or uncle as this was a bakery for about ten years(the restaurant addition to the bakery is recent, having only been added a few months ago), is exceptional as well. ====The Mango Ceviche==== Take Chef Adrianzen’s Mango C V Che(ceviche), for example. On appearance alone, it is stunning, like a painting. It comes with a myriad of colors arranges by various pieces of seafood, fruit, vegetables, and a bright purple shell on top. That image is only enhanced by its flavor. It is amazing how Chef Adrianzen manages to combine complementing and contrasting flavors so that every bite is a rush of energy in your mouth. The sweetness of the mango, the crunch of the roasted corn kernels, the depth of the sea bass and clams. It all perfectly melds together, and each part is elevated far beyond its original flavor. ====The Lomo Saltado==== The same is true of the Lomo Saltado Fillet Mignon. I am shocked by how incredible each component of this dish is. Not just the perfectly cooked and tender meat or the caramelized onions, but even the simple components such as the rice and french fries are refined. The fries are not just steak fries, they are juicy with the flavor of the meat yet not soggy and have a crunch. The rice is not just rice, it has a depth of flavor to it as it is cooked with garlic and perhaps spices. And it all works together — each flavor is there for a purpose: to harmonize the dish with the other components. This is Chef Adrianzen’s style. He takes many different ingredients and perfectly combines them so they work together. ====The Passionfruit Drink==== Everything about this place is amazing — and not just the food. Get the passionfruit iced drink — it is just as outstanding as the unbelievable artisan dishes. It is not too sweet and, like everything else, it perfectly accompanies the cuisine you are given. ====The Bread==== The bread is so good. My girlfriend and I were given hot bread rolls from straight out of the oven to eat with our meal. As I ripped a piece off of my roll, steam came out. I dipped some of the roll into my dish and ate. The bread was perfect — fluffy, warm, and inviting. I could not have had a better bread roll. It went perfectly with my meal. ====The Dessert==== I’m not sure what to call the dessert I ate. It is in my uploaded pictures, below. It was creamy yet fluffy. It had chocolate on top and a rich flavor throughout. I can’t properly describe this, because like everything else, the flavor transcends words. But I can’t wait to come back and order it again. ====The Service & Price==== Outstanding and terrific service. This place is run with love. You can feel that the family that owns this gem really care about their craft and establishment. When you walk in here, you walk into an extension of their home and they treat you like a guest. Further, the price is extremely reasonable. It is not expensive and a really good deal. ====Final Thoughts/tl;dr==== The food here is absolutely incredible. You cannot go wrong ordering anything. Chef Adrianzen has a unique and exceptional talent of elevating each component in his dishes so that they perfectly complement one another. Chef Adrianzen’s aunt and uncle are amazing bakers, as their bread and desserts are out of this world. The passionfruit iced drink perfectly complements the meal you eat here and I highly recommend it. The service is outstanding and caring, and the price is great. Lonzo’s Bread is a gem. Give it one shot, and you’ll be coming back again.

We just had lunch today at this incredible place. This is the classic little hole-in-the-wall with unbelievably good food. It was really the kind of food you would get at a high-end restaurant, served on beautiful china platters, but in a tiny, five table restaurant with low prices. We had Papas a la Huancaina, which is potatoes in a creamy-spicy sauce; a ceviche of bass and mango; and Lomo Saltado, which is kind of like a beef stir-fry with french fries. Seriously delicious, each and every item. The waiter and chef were very sweet and friendly. We promised we would tell all our friends and put a good review on Unilocal,so here it is! Go visit!

It was ABSOLUTELY as good as it gets. The food was delicious. The waiter and chef were gracious and generous. As tiny as the restaurant is, one could actually carry on a conversation — with the waiter — with the chef — with the people in my party. If I didn’t work in downtown L. A, it would be my «go-to» restaurant — breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Lonzo’s is a hole in the wall restaurant/bakery that has an intimate six table layout. The restaurant is run by two kind gentlemen that are truly passionate about serving the most authentic Peruvian food possible. The chef personally serves you the food and ensures that everything was made up to your expectations. They have a vast 30+ item menu that comes with beautiful pictures that let you visual exactly what you are ordering. For this meal, we decided to have the fried plantains, mango bass ceviche, and filet mignon lomo saltado. The first dish that arrived was the fried plantains. It came with a side of condense milk. The plantains were fully ripe and perfectly fried. The second dish was the mango bass ceviche. The dish actually looked bigger and better than the pictures. It was artistically laid over a bed of lettuce with a freshly shucked scallop towering the top. The ceviche came with huge cuts of fresh bass, scallop and shrimp. It was mixed together with diced red onions and fresh mangos, and all topped off with a medley of micro greens and a side of «real» corn nuts. The sweetness, saltiness and sourness blended together perfectly with the fresh seafood and made you craving for even more. Half way into devouring the ceviche, the lomo saltado arrived. The smell of the onion, beef and soy sauce made me gravitate away from the ceviche. The dish had medium rare nuggets of filet Mignon, crispy potatoes, fragrant onions, and succulent tomato slices. This dish Unilocal umami, especially with the combination of soy sauce, Maggi sauce and red wine. This is possibly one of the best lomo saltado’s I’ve ever had. The filet Mignon was delectably tender. The potatoes maintained crispiness and weren’t soggy. The tomatoes were perfectly cooked and preserved structure. All combined with a well balance of saltiness and a side of fluffy jasmine rice. Jonathan Gold is right. This restaurant is incredible. This is exactly how I would expect the food to taste in Peru.

Forget Mario’s and Don Feliz. The best Peruvian restaurant in LA is on the Westside. My favorite thing to do now is stop by on a Saturday afternoon and enjoy the most legit Lomo Saltado I’ve ever had. The food is rich and flavorful without being heavy and overwhelming. The service is top notch. The first time I came in I was blown away by the service and the food, the owner even gave me the more expensive Filet Mignon instead of the Ribeye. I wish I could keep this as my own secret going but they are so nice here, and the food is so good I want them to do well. I’d recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet place to enjoy one of the best meals in LA. Just a suggestion, I hope they change their name to Lonzo’s Peruvian Restaurant so people will know they have an ever expanding menu of authentic Peruvian dishes.

LONZOSISFANTASTIC! Sure it’s a hole in the wall bakery and probably doesn’t have the same flare that those other culver Blvd restaurants do… but what they’ve got is GOOD. As a half Peruvian, it’s hard to find good Peruvian food in culver. It basically doesn’t exist. Picca is over priced and it’s fusion vibe ruins the integrity of Peruvian cuisine. I wish I could have ordered everything but due to my starvation i ordered the bistec a Lo pobre and my mom ordered the mixed seafood fried rice! The Flavor was PACKED! The service is fantastic! We couldn’t resist to buy some bread! The sourdough is so soft and yummy and amazing I basically murdered half of it when I got home(not a proud moment) will Def be returning! Also the aji sauce made from scratch is PHENOMENAL!

We had a certificate and decided to try Lonzo’s based on other Unilocal reviews. The place is easy to drive past, and quite small, only seating for maybe 12 – 15 customers. The food was EXCELLENT. We started with a quinoa risotto that was fabulous. I had the Bistec a lo pobre that was perfect, and a generous portion too. My wife ordered the crispy salmon and she really enjoyed it. The service was warm and.welcoming. We will definitely go back.

A new Peruvian chef, Walther, has created an authentic menu for their café. Today I enjoyed the Shrimp Chowder filled with luscious shrimp, vegetables, rice and a poached egg all in a sourdough bread bowl. My husband had the pan fried fish filet topped with salsa criolla and garlic rice. They were served with their fresh baguette.

We randomly decided to try Lonzo’s for breakfast on a Saturday morning and were not disappointed. While the basic four walls and soda fountain offer little in the way of atmosphere, the food makes up for it. The cashier was nice enough to explain their menu as it seemed to be a work in progress. I’m not sure how long they’ve been working on the menu, it could have been days or years. However, his suggestions were great. I went with the filet mignon sandwich. It consisted of light fresh bread and tender cuts of marinated filet. It was topped with tomatoes and grilled onions and came with french fries on the side. My significant other went with the breakfast burrito, which was made to order with a variety of ingredients available. On the way out we decided to get some pastries to go; a vegetable potato ball, a cheese danish and chocolate croissant. The danish was buttery and the cheese filling was nicely sweet. The croissant was crusty but a little dry but the chocolate portion balanced the savoriness. As for the vegetable potato ball, it actually contained chicken. It’s possible that the cashier gave us the wrong ball, or misheard. It was still crusty and had great flavor(better than Porto’s) and was rather large. The total cost for 3 pastries, a sandwich(w/fries), breakfast burrito, and 2 coffees came to about $ 25. For that kind of money I’ll gladly sample whatever they have to offer. Despite the in progress menu(as of 10÷24÷15) and the«vegetable» potato ball — I’ll be giving Lonzo’s more visits down the line.

This is my new favorite Local bakery and they deserve your patronage. The little french baguettes are so fresh and tasty and inexpensive. They have a big variety of other loaves that we haven’t quite explored yet. Sandwich rolls, Hamburger buns + they have a day old basket $ 1.50 good for same day eating, croutons etc. They have a wide variety of sweet breads and rolls as well. We have some home bread work to do. The two guys that work in there are super cool. They are happy to see you and eager to serve. The bread is coming out fresh all day.

UPDATE: The guys at Lonzo’s read my review and obviously are passionate about what they do, because the next time I went in the nice gent made me a burger to prove my «not mind blowing» review wrong. Well, he certainly knows how to change a man’s mind … by wrapping the burger in bacon. I’d say, a pretty big win all around, and now I’m craving another so. well played Lonzo’s…well played… I’d eat here every day if I didn’t feel weird about going to the same place every single day. Or maybe I just don’t want to get bored. Either way, this place is the best place to grab lunch in Culver City. Inexpensive is an understatement, especially for the quality, and they have such a huge range of things to choose from. It’s like going over to grandma’s house, and grandma can cook you all your favorites — but she also owns a bakery. The open flame Peruvian style plates are wonderful and filling. How do they make the fries so darn good? Usually when you order a plate like this they bring you an appetizer and dessert of some sort at no extra charge. The sandwiches come on amazing fresh made bread and you can basically get it made any way you like. The tacos are spot on, filling, and come with everything you need(cilantro, onions, sauces, beans, rice, etc) The burgers aren’t mind blowing but they are only $ 5(or close to it) and they are NOT frozen. I’ve ordered soup a few times with my meal and it is always — to my surprise — «on the house» because they love when people try their food. Awesome! All of the food is wholesome and(while not being«health food» per se) is healthy and nourishing. Best of all, the owners/staff are so damn FRIENDLY. I can go in and chat, or I can grab a newspaper and keep to myself. Either way it’s a good experience. Yes it’s small, and unassuming, and often hot inside because it’s a bakery, but this place ROCKS. 5⁄5 stars. Two thumbs up.

I’ve only had the Olive Bread loaf from here but it was delicious. This bread is flavorful and full bodied. Since there’s only two of us in my household, usually there’s a few leftover pieces of bread when we buy a full loaf… not this time! We will definitely be coming back for more!
