As a vegan, I get extremely excited when there’s a place dedicated to how I live so when I heard of this place I couldn’t wait to try it. The place looks quaint in the sense of an IKEA spread, and parking is a nuisance. Plant based foods should never be this expensive, it’s not like they’re selling the«impossible cheeseburger», so why is it $ 12 for 1 wrap when I can make 3 of them for the same price buying ingredients from trader joes and the farmers market? I can’t hate too much on a place that is at least trying but the workers are pretentious and take extremely long to make a single wrap. A single $ 12 wrap. They really do make out everyday. With your money.

Three words for you. Kelp noodle salad. I’d never had it before a friend invited me here for lunch and it kind of blew my mind? No carbs or calories??? This place is raw and vegan which I’m not usually into as you probably know if you’ve seen the places I go to and the food I post, but I really liked it! And it’s in a great location. I’ve been back twice already!

The meals are not substantial and the prices are way too high for everything, even for the west side. Nothing looks particularly enticing. They have the look down, but lacks substance for my money. As a vegan living a few blocks away im disappointed that this place is not an option I can consider.

A healthy alternative to CBTL or Starbucks. Vegan snacks and tonic infused chai lattes. I had the geek latte and my wife the bliss latte. They tasted exactly the same and they’ll tell you that fact when you by them. You just have to, well, trust that whatever they’re doing makes your drink special and unique. There seems to be an entire mythology with each drink. Overall, they’re pretty much unsweetened chai lattes and you pay for the Chaucerian tale and good karma.

I love pressed juice. It’s a nice bright space and the employees are so nice and helpful. The juices are so good. I’ve had all the greens and the ginger tonic. I can’t wait to go back for more. And I love their glass bottles.

This place is by far one of the highest vibe places to eat in this city hands down. Everything is all organic, vegan, over 90% Raw, all gluten free, soy and dairy free, AND they sprout all of their nuts, seeds, rice and quinoa. Something you don’t find very often! This level of integrity speaks for itself and ranks this place near the top with the other very few places in all of Los Angeles who can attest to these levels of conscious eating standards. As far as the food goes; the quinoa bowl is amazing and their deserts are off the charts! I am thoroughly impressed with their level of cheesecakes and the macaroons are DELICIOUS! All of the sweeteners these guys use are maple, coconut nectar, dates and above! No Agave or anything less than! The juices are amazingly impressive as well. There’s seriously only a hand full of places in this whole city who serve Raw, organic, cold pressed, unpasteurized juices and NOONE is bringing to the table what these guys are. Some juices have up to 8 or so ingredients in them. The Melrose, Matador, and Culver juices are really fantastic. Great alchemy. Great job guys! The atmosphere is clean, relaxed and refreshing which I appreciate more than anything. People who work there seem to have great energy and warm personalities. A great place to go to clear your head and have a clean healthy meal. This place is an A+ for me. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

Delicious tea potions and raw vegan cheesecake. So glad I stopped inside but wish they were not sold out of their pressed juices.

Went a second time to see if they’d worked out the kinks. Wanted to treat myself to a nice healthy lunch during an hour lunch break as I hadn’t had time for a good meal on a while. DONOTGOTHEREIFYOUHAVELESSTHAN2HRSATLUNCH. It was freezing out and the door did not close. It kept blowing open and gusts of cold wind drove customers out, not that any employees seemed to notice. I decided to try the guacamole wrap, and the person helping me asked if I’d like a cup of soup with it. Since it was 40 degrees in there, I said sure and added a black bean soup. I asked for a cup of water while I waited and the girl helping me was like, «We have our homemade alkaline water for $ 2 or tap water, which is the same as bathroom water– we don’t filter it.» She looked at me like I’d be drinking actual toilet water if I said yes to tap, so I got the«homemade» alkaline water(which I presume is tap water they put in a only sort of toxic plastic bottle and stick a price tag on). She rang me up at just under $ 24! I’ll pay a lot for good food, but this is a take out vegan place without organic veggies and normal portion sizes. WTF. Then I waited in the freezing wind with nobody else in the place. The girls behind the counter seemed to be just chatting. I waited a full 20 minutes in a wool coat and hat and then said I could just take the food to go since I was running out of time to eat. The girls were like«Um what do you want? Huh?» And I was like, «The food I ordered.» And they were like«Oh yeah oops.» Then they started making it. 12 minutes later the guacamole wrap came out in a to go container, but since I was starving and was told«The soup will be a while– we have to warm it,» I began to eat. The guacamole wrap contained quinoa and iceberg lettuce in collard leaves. Nothing else, and no guacamole. I approached the counter again, and again the girls seemed very offended that I was interrupting their social time. I asked for some guacamole and the girl rolled her eyes and said, «You got the guacamole wrap.» Then I showed her that it had no guacamole and a nicer girl gave me a little side cup if it. Then I asked for an honest estimate on the $ 9 side of soup and she said three minutes. 10 more minutes later, I told them they could give it to me cold and I’d heat it at work. So they did. It was a small cup of undercooked black beans with nothing else– no seasoning, nothing. Were they trying to heat dried black beans with their hands? I don’t get it. They said they, «ran out at lunch.» If that was the case, then why did they sell it to me, and who runs out of soup in an empty restaurant at 12:15? I left feeling a little like I’d just gotten beat up and robbed. No apologies, no refunds, tons of attitude. F this place. I really wanted it to be a regular lunch spot but if it takes an hour for overpriced cold soup served with attitude, gmo lettuce filled lettuce, and an unwelcome environment, I won’t be back. I love his spot on Abbott Kinney, but probably won’t be back there either after this experience. I wanted to try going full vegan and this experience swung the pendulum in the opposite direction for me, sending me the message that that’s just for people willing to overpay for bad food and service. Such a disappointment.

What a marvellous find. Fantastic juice bar with lots of delicious vegan eats– kelp noodle dishes, salads and more. I was rather dashing as I had to take care of an ailing friend so only just stopped for juice– but the space is clean and light with a lovely zen vibe. I shall most certainly return when I have more time. Prices are high however– much as one has come to expect from high end juice bars. At $ 40 for 3 juices and 2 turmeric immune shots it’s definitely spendy– which may prevent many from becoming regulars. But if the wallet is bulging, it’s not a bad choice for a person with a penchant for health.

5⁄5 for a plant-based eater who works nearby on a lunch break… First time trying this place today. Ordered the spicy carrot roll(OMGYUM, can’t wait to make my own!) and the Guacamole Wrap(very good). I’m excited to go back and try their Cobb Wrap as well as some of their sweet treats(the strawberry cheesecake caught my eye). Will review again once I’ve tried more of their stuff. I’m intrigued by the Latte Potions. Cool little mellow spot in downtown Culver, love the vibe.

I love Make Out! Stopped in on Sunday after getting into LAX(not feeling too lovely). They have a phenomenal selection of juices, shots and smoothies. Their Raw/Macrobiotic snacks and bowls are on point. And my very favorite is their Latte Potions. I had such a difficult time deciding which potion to get because I love all the ingredients used in each one. I love to incorporate and experiment w/lots of the same herbs, mushrooms, other ingredients at home. So this was the perfect place for me discover while I was away from my home apothocary/herb lab lol. The staff was super sweet and knowledgeable about the ingredients. This is superfood heaven for me. Please open one closer to Pasadena or DTLA.

This place is amazing! I wasn’t sure what I was walking into, but I’m glad I decided to try this place. The people here know their products really well. Everything is plant-based. I’m a carnivore so I was a little skeptical about whether or not I would be satisfied. I got one of their quinoa bowls, and i was more than satisfied with what I ordered. I was not only satisfied, but I got full. Since this establishment also has their own juices, I ordered the OJAI. It has coconut water, apple, burdock, ginger, and cayenne. It may sound questionable, but trust me… it’s good. The establishment itself is aesthetically pleasing– crisp and clean. The staff are friendly and will let you their products if it’s your first time or you are unsure of what to purchase. The owner’s wife is a nutritionist, so you better believe the stuff you’re putting in your body is good for you. Heck, if I didn’t have to go to class I would have ordered dessert, and I’m pretty sure that would’ve been a healthy choice.

Wandered in here when Starbucks was too crowded for studying and I’m so glad I did. Brad Pitt and Penolope Cruz(well, basically) took my order and were so warm and welcoming urging me to «try a bite of this» and«here, smell this». You could tell they were passionate about what they do and wanted to share that enthusiasm with the customers. I’m not quite sure how this works but it seems they had mostly vegan and raw food. All healthy and natural. Even if you order their thicks slabs of cheesecake you are doing your body a favor. I ordered a Kelp Noodle bowl with Marinara. SOSAVORY! sun-dried tomato, fresh basil, and these«meat balls» that I was told were made from the pulp of the juices they make. I loved the INNOVATION! I also got a pineapple kombucha which, again, have you ever heard of?!? no you haven’t because this place is so creative. It took me about 20 minutes to decide what to get because all the choices were tempting. Salads, smoothies, juices, noodles, flatbreads, lattes, cheesecakes, truffles and macaroons. The place is immaculate, cozy bench seating for meeting a friend and big tables for sprawling out and working. Some of the best food I’ve had in Culver. Not one of those places that looks good but takes the cheap way out. Real, honest, healthy, flavorful, creative food. I will be back because there is literally not a thing on the menu I didn’t want to try.

Say hello to the new and upcoming place in culver city. So glad I stumbled upon this place while walking in the area. I was with a friend. We initially were attracted to the ambiance of the place. Then it got all better when we realized it was a raw vegan restaurant. I’m obsessed with their chocolate chip cookie. It actually tasted like a chocolate chip cookie, not some adulterated cookies, with an overdose of cacao, some goji berries, and figs. If you’re raw vegan you know what I’m talking about. The cookie had a fantastic texture and best of all, they somehow got it to taste like dough. My friend and I tried all four of their truffles. Each had a distinct delicious taste. But best of all, their dark chocolate, coconut macaroon was the best. It was chocolatey, creamy, but not too sweet, and had the perfect ratio of coconut in it. Lastly, I also got the chill out latte. Once again, I was blown away. I highly highly recommend it. They even have their own in-house made almond milk. Not to mention, the service was fantastic. The owners truly have a passion for what they’re doing and it’s reflective in their hospitality. Keep up the great work, you’ll definitely see me again… soon!

So I think hard core vegans and vegetarians would love this place. I eat meat so I am a bit biased. Got the pepper kelp noodles which were just okay. It was a bit bland, could not taste much pepper. Also, the kelp noodles were just barely slightly too chewy. If they soaked them more or cooked that differently you would not tell they were fake noodles. The customer service was great though. And it’s a very cute place. I would probably come back for a juice/smoothie. The best kelp noodles that I’ve had so far were at THESPRINGS in DTLA — it’s carbonara. Those were cooked perfectly that you could not tell they were not pasta.

It’s been a long time coming but Make Out is finally alive and kicking in the heart of Culver City. It was mid September of last year when I was told to keep an eye out for the new vegan place that would be popping up in my neck of the woods and today I’ve finally put this new plant-based fare to the test. Final result: I’m quite pleased. Make Out is a raw vegan restaurant but I have to say I found the flavors a lot more satisfying than many of the dozens of other raw places I’ve sampled in my day. Raw places run a very acute risk of having«everything tastes the same» syndrome, something Make Out seems to avoid very well. When you are using similar nuts and seeds as the base to most of your menu there is a lot of effort that needs to go in to make everything taste distinctly different and like I said, I think Make Out gets that. Instead of having a menu revolving completely around nuts and seeds they’ve balanced it out with a good lineup of salads and bowls that involve grains that give the customer more flexibility. I rolled here for lunch with co workers and we all tried a bit of everything, all of it with it’s own unique angle. We had the kale caesar, almond kelp bowl, quinoa bowl, pistachio guacamole, and heirloom tomato flatbread. I wouldn’t hesitate to order any of it again. Additionally the chocolate truffle was phenomenal and the chia parfait topped it all off perfectly. Keep in mind you get what you pay for and if you’re used to getting a 5 pound burrito next door at Chipotle for seven bucks then the $ 10-$ 12 range here for a lot less food may be a bit of a culture shock. Don’t let it scare you away, just look at what you’re eating and appreciate the whole plant ingredients, the quality, and it will start to make a little more sense. I like to think of these types of restaurants as great at what they do, just maybe the type of place I wouldn’t want to go to if I was starving. If I had hit the gym this morning and had less of a breakfast than I did, it would probably be around $ 25 to really be full at Make Out. But I didn’t work out and I had a good breakfast, so my almond kelp bowl($ 10) and chia parfait($ 6) wasn’t too rough. Again though, to me it’s worth it when you’re receiving quality health food like this. People will argue that LYFE Kitchen is on the same block and is just as good and cheaper but that’s total bullshit, LYFE Is worse on both the quality and flavor spectrum and I’ve never left there under for $ 15 either. The restaurant itself is bright, lots of light and the exposed brick is my kind of style. A little on the small side which will become trouble for seating if they really blow up but with the grab’n’go vibe they’re putting out maybe that’s not an issue. I’d say set some tables up outside like the rest of the restaurants on the block, that would do nicely. As for the staff at first I thought they were not really into it or rather bored but after a chat it turns out they were just laid back chill individuals, more than happy and eager to talk about their offerings and what Make Out is all about. All in all I’ll definitely be back. I didn’t even get to try their juices but all the more reason to stop by another day, a lot of reviews here say the cold-pressed juice game is where it’s at. I’m glad Make Out is trying to prove that a raw, upscale quick vegan stop can survive in Culver City. I just hope they’re right.

Hmm, a lot of people surprisingly seem to have a lot of issues with the name of the establishment, but who cares/not a big deal. Granted, it is probably not the best name, but I think it was because it is from the same chef as MAKE in Santa Monica. Anyway, great place to go if you want a healthy meal! Plus, the interior is a really cute. I would have to say the only downside of this place is that it is pretty pricey grabbing a juice and boxed lunch to go($ 20). I had the Ojai juice and their Cobb wrap and both tasted healthy, but it was filling and did not lack in flavor. Also, it is located in Downtown Culver City, but the actual store is kind of tucked away. I would say walk over to Culver Hotel and its sorta behind it? I think it is a good addition to that area so hoping it sticks around! :)

Make Out could be a great place to get a cup of tea(which they don’t yet serve) and a dessert, but it’s a muddle as to what it’s trying to accomplish — it’s got the grab-and-go vibe of so many organic juice bar spots in LA(get a juice or a salad or a chia-porridge hemp thing), but then it has a swanky lounge set-up to its seating. It’s not ideal for a first date, as most of the seats won’t allow you to face your companion — you’ll have to sit alongside one another. Is this place a lounge? A café? A take-out joint? I’m not sure. Onto the food: I got a slice of blueberry cheesecake($ 6) and was impressed — it’s among the best vegan cheesecakes I’ve had in LA. The food menu items didn’t look all that interesting, but they seem reasonably priced given that all the food here is raw and mostly organic. I’ll definitely come back as they expand their menu. I hope they’ll add some more seating to the lounge thing they have, if only to make this a nice spot to have a conversation over some sprouted buckwheat crackers.
