Bobby transformed The Point from comfort food central to a stationary taco truck. Kudos for the new menu with healthy options, vegetarian choices and authentic carnitas, slow-cooked chicken and barbacoa. Same great service and location. Also, excellent horchata and agua frescas.

HOLYCRAP I JUSTGOT A SNEAKPREVIEWOFTHENEWBREAKFASTTORTA. Fluffy yet structurally successful bread, melt in your mouth carnitas, jack cheese, fried eggs, homemade tortilla chips, creamy beans… if I had a hangover this would fix it. Since I don’t have a hangover, I am fully savoring this crash of a regular breakfast sandwich with a sombrero. I am not making this up. This is not a drill. This might just become one of my favorite out of the box tortas in LA.

Just discovered this place, and I’m a fan! If you’re looking for someplace quick and easy for lunch, you need to check out The Point. It’s a little difficult to find if you’re unfamiliar with the area(blink coming down National Boulevard and you might miss it), and parking’s a bit of an issue, but once you get there, you’ll find a nice place to eat that gets you in and out promptly. I had a BBQ chicken wrap and a side of fries; with a drink, it came to $ 13. Generally speaking, prices are a hair high, but not unreasonable, and the menu is pretty broad for a place that isn’t all that big. The chicken was cooked very well; the wrap was a little bit dry for me, but that’s a minor quibble, and your tastes may vary. The fries were tasty, service was sharp, and I was in and out in less than a half-hour. I’ll certainly be back!

Initially, upon moving office, I was disappointed by the lack of selection in nearby places. This was completely assuaged by The Point, the quintessential workplace lunch. With an ever-rotating list of specials, a Unilocal special for some damned good iced coffee, and a killer Southwest Chicken Salad, they definitely deserve some praise sung. The fries are pretty great too.

I went here for a special Valentines Day pop up event. Since it was a multi course dinner which is not the normal meal served here this is just a review for this special dinner. The appetizers consisted of veggies, pimento cheese spread, Brussels Sprouts, crispy pork belly(cold and overcooked), albacore tuna poke. The salad was a fried chicken nugget salad(decent but a bit strange being a deep fried chicken nugget). For the seafood they served fish, head on prawn, sausage stuffed squid(it could have been hotter but was still good). For the main entrée they served a very large Tamari Braised beef short rib(defiantly a winner and very good flavor). I will stop by when I’m in the area for brekkie or lunch.

I work down the street from The Point so come here several times a week. The menu is quite diverse, ranging from salads to hamburgers, to banh mi. On top of that there are daily specials which add even more variety to the menu. Bobby and his staff are all fantastic. I’ve always been met with a friendly, helpful attitude. Mistakes rarely happen but when they do the staff are quick to make right by the customers. The food is good value, a few of the more premium items are a bit pricey but it’s all reasonable for what you get. There’s plenty of seating; there are a few tables inside, several more on the patio in front and there are additional tables in the back. All in all it’s a great café and I’d recommend it if you’re in the area.

I see four star cafes all over Unilocal LA and to be honest, most underwhelm. So when I walked into The Point, i was expecting a mediocre meal. But when I ordered the salmon and mash potatoes special, I was blown away. The blending of flavors and textures combined for the best meal I have had all month. Truly incredible stuff. And the owner Bobby works the counter, giving the joint a really warm, friendly feeling. This place really caught me off guard, and I’ll be returning soon with friends.

Every bite we had here was delicious. My friend said the latte she had was the best ever, seriously. We both had the huevos rancheros, which came with tater tots, and neither of us could finish it all, although we wanted to. You can see from the attached pic why their food is so glorious – it’s love!

I’ve had their version of the pork bahn mi once about 2 or 3 months ago. Though I don’t remember the specifics, I do remember the sandwich being quite tasty and the simple no-frills salad was a refreshing side. Solid 4⁄5. It’s a little pricey for the range I am looking to spend on lunch during the week. Expect to spend at least $ 10. It’s really convenient for businesses above and around The Point but parking(street only for outsiders) can really be a hassle. We drove around a few times before a spot right in front became available. They also offer(at least they did at one point) a free drink with a Unilocal check-in so don’t be like myself and forget your phone. I would advise calling in your order because lunch crowds can be a bit obnoxious for such a small space. There is an outdoor patio out front and and an indoor patio outside the side door of the restaurant but seating is definitely limited. So 3 stars for food quality, price and convenience.

Here is the story of the grilled cheese that brought me to my knees. The savory deliciousness of the cheddar provolone combo, the fresh hint of tomato, elevated to heaven with a touch of bacon, sandwiched between two tasty, perfectly toasted and lightly buttered pieces of sourdough. I have found lunchtime nirvana at The Point. The side of mixed greens with balsamic kept the meal from being too heavy, but my friend paired his with onion rings instead and has no regrets. Another in our group got the cheeseburger with onion rings and bacon, he said it was on Point. :-D

Is not always easy to find great service and great food. But I think we found it. Had the pleasure of having The Points turkey Meat love today and it was special. Bobby was also super cool and delivered a 10 person spreed of deliciousness to our office. We will be using The point to order to our office now on. Thanks Bobby.

This review is based on a recent pop up dining event that I went to, thanks to Los Angeles Magazine to making me aware of this wonderful spot. Apparently they do host several pop up events throughout the year. I always hold filipino food close to my heart. Though not very known in the culinary world, Chef Mayet Cristobal(chef at the Getty) had transformed the dishes to whole new flavor level. Dishes for the special event only: Okoy: Kabocha Squash, Bean Sprout & Onion Albacore Tuna Kinipaw w/cane vinegar, ginger, scallion, masago, seaweed Barbeque Pork Spare Rib Flip Wedge(chilled iceberg, salted dug egg, duck cracklings, cherry tomatoes, pandesal croutons) Pan seared scallops with pork belly lechon, chicaron, mung bean purée Short rib adobo w/crispy rice Coconut cake w/macapuno folded in whipped cream topped with a sprinkle of pinipig To drink, of course I have to go with the theme and ordered San Miguel beer. :) Dining in the patio and hosted by the restaurant/chef owner himself, Bobby and his staff made for a wonderful evening. With every course, he came by every table to describe the dish. Near the end, Chef Mayet came out to greet the guests. Just a wonderful experience. Can’t wait to attend more events at the Point.

I haven’t written a review in ages. But I had to sign on for this one. I ordered the Southwest Chicken salad and it was almost ALL iceberg lettuce. I haven’t had iceberg lettuce salad since I stayed at a hospital. Actually, I think they even had spinach, instead of the non-nutritional, flavorless iceberg lettuce in my salad. Not even worth $ 1, let alone $ 10. Step it up, guys. Step it way up

I rented the space for a private party about a week ago and chef/owner Bobby was the easiest person in the world to work with. He put together a menu based on my suggestions and accommodated vegetarians and omnivores alike with no complaints from any side. We also had a craft beer side to this gathering(both two taps and a bottle share) and all went smoothly. The staff was friendly and attentive, the quality of the food was far above average and my party of 57 people had a great time. I would recommend The Point with no hesitation for your catering needs, or if you just need to grab breakfast or lunch during their regular hours.

This place is on Point. :) Its fast, convenient and the chef Bobby takes great pride in his work and my taste buds can tell. You wouldn’t expect such a small café to make an excellent lunch, but trust me, the food here is made to order and its excellent. Today, I went to the Point with 4 co-workers, I was still waiting for my roast beef sandwich while all my co-workers had already got all there food. I told them to go ahead and start eating, I kept coming up to the window and Bobby kept telling me my food was almost ready. Then on my last visit Bobby says, I’m sorry Paul, but someone took your sandwich, Ill make you a new one right now. I was a bit peeved, but what are you going to do, such is life. When I finally hear my name and go get my sandwich, it came with fries, cookies and Bobby HANDINGME my money back. I told him I couldn’t take it, but he insisted. What a great owner! Mistakes happen, but standing behind it like he did shows that he is a class act and a gentleman. I will share this story with everyone in the area and personally will visit this place a lot more often. This place is A++++++!!!
