When stationed in Cumberland for work, this place was my absolute favorite place to go. The pizza was good, the drinks cold. Sometimes the service was slow, but it was a cool joint. The live music on the back patio was a nice touch. I loved walking from the terminus of the C&O Canal to this place from my hotel. They’re Steelers fans, but they love the Orioles… go figure. Go there. The owner is a cool guy, too.

Great place to eat! The chicken sub on the lunch special is great! The service at lunch time tends to be slow but the service is typically good. Only thing I do not like about this place is parking… most days I can’t eat here at lunch or dinner time bc I can’t find a parking spot!

Ketchup bottle exploded on me as result of a practical joke. Trashed my shirt, got in my face, beard, glasses, hair all over the walls, table etc. Nobody could have cared, waitress was mute and other customers staring at me like I caused the problem. Situation could have been saved if they had made any attempt to make me less like an idiot and comp’d the meal but not this place. I called later and explained what happened to the bar manager(restaurant manager was off) and she understood but service that bad speaks to a bigger problem. I won’t go back regardless of decent bar food.

Uncle jacks is a great place to stop and have a bite. There is always A lot of activity outside with people. A local hotspot for those bike riders on the trail. Pizza is good. Don’t go if you are in a rush. But hey! Sit back have a drink and visit with your friends

Pizza is pretty good… considering this is Western Maryland, and I am from New Jersey, well accustomed to NY style pizza. There is a patio out back, since seating is limited inside.

Food is good, prices are reasonable, with a cozy pub ambiance. Hit & miss on consistency on their pizza and food delivery times… and the service is sloooooooooow, and by slow I mean snails move faster. That being said, their beer selection is solid, they have multiple big-screen tv’s, a great deck out back, and live music regularly, so we forgive their hit & miss approach to dining for these reasons. My advice: try carryout, or plan a night eating there when you have time to chill, watch a game, or take in some music and hang out. Why??? Because if you expect fast service and to get in and out… you’re going to be sadly mistaken. But if you have time on your hands and a hankering for pizza — this is your place for sure!

I enjoy coming to this establishment. Their pizza and burgers are very tasty and I highly recommend trying this place. They have a well stocked bar, and their beer selection is very large. I specially like the back patio area. They also provide live entertainment on occasion, which is always nice.

Recently tried out Uncle Jack’s and will definitely be back next time we’re in Cumberland! Unfortunately(or fortunately depending on how you look at it) that may not be for a while as we only drive through once or twice a year. At least we have a place we can trust and return to! FOOD: We had salad, wings, and a pizza. All were very good, especially compared to the other restaurants we have tried in the area on previous occasions. More importantly, after reading other reviews, we tried the Chicago style pizza. My fiancé is from Chicago. He KNOWS Chicago pizza AND liked this pizza! While it wasn’t full on Chicago style pizza(which quite frankly makes me feel a bit ill after one slice) it was the perfect combination of Chicago style and what us Marylanders like in a pizza. Plus, I didn’t feel like I had to be wheeled out of the place after having pizza like I do in Chicago. Hopefully my future family won’t see this review because I much preferred Uncle Jack’s Chicago style pizza over the famous Chicago pizza institutions. SERVICE: We were there on a busy Friday night and were pretty impressed with the service despite what other reviewers have said. Our waitress came to check on us frequently and even gave us two free drinks to compensate for the slight backup in the kitchen. Can’t beat that! The pizza was well worth the wait. ATMOSPHERE: I really enjoyed the atmosphere as it reminded me of the old tavern my family used to own in PA coal mining country. They have live entertainment frequently and are open pretty late(1am on weekends and 12am on weekdays). Loved the old school sports pictures on the walls. OVERALL: Good pizza! Good hours! Good staff! For anyone who has had the pleasure of visiting Allegany and/or Garrett County you know restaurants close ridiculously early. Not to mention they have the most incomprehensible outdated liquor laws that make you feel like it’s 1920 instead of 2015. Side note to those visiting for the first time: in Garrett County you can’t order a drink until 1pm on a Sunday and it MUST be ordered with a meal! While I’m 99.9% sure I’ll never live in Cumberland, if I did, I’d be a regular at this place. The pizza is actually really good and our experience with the service was fantastic. AND they’re open late until either 12am or 1am except on Sundays when they close at 9pm. Which again is pretty late per the local norm. As I’ve learned in the past, there’s nothing worse than being on the road and hungry and finding out absolutely nothing is open at 10:30 on a Friday night in Cumberland! Have no fear Uncle Jack’s is… so long as it’s not a Sunday!

We’ve eaten in twice and the food has been good. Pizza, wings and calzones. The service is hit or miss and you are better off waving someone down if you need something than waiting for your own person to come back. They lose stars for takeout. We called the first night and the phone was put down for 10 minutes. No one ever came back to answer it. I could hear the people sitting near it. We tried calling back for nearly an hour(we were at another bar in town and everyone wanted jacks). But the phone line was«not available» every time we tried to call. The next night, we finally got pizza and wings to go, but they were soggy and congealed when we picked them up.

Nice cozy pub style dining. Food can be inconsistent. When it’s on, it’s very good. When it’s off it’s a sad excuse for pizza. Fortunately they have been happy to replace food I’ve been unhappy with. Big TVs good beer selection. And yes, the service is slooow.

I have frequented Uncle Jacks many times over the last three years and only one thing has been consistent… it keeps getting consistently worse. Today the sauce on the pizza was acidic versus the usual sweet sauce, way too much cheese in the pizza, fries were fried in old oil because all sorts of stuff was attached to them, and I can’t tell if the waitresses are over worked or just simply unfriendly. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review, but this was a horrible visit and waste of money.

Food is great one time and horrible the next. Wait time is high and waitresses are overworked. Wings are not cooked long enough. Stromboli raw in the middle. Garlic bread is hard. Consistency would help tremendously.

Uncle Jack’s is A-OK. No complaints. Nothing I’d go out of my way to seek out or write home to mom about. My wife had the stromboli and my kids had the pizza, and the three of them raved about how delicious their food was. They were quite impressed. I had the Jack Daniels burger. The burger itself tasted pretty good, but the roll they served it on was hard as a rock. Service was friendly and prompt. Prices were VERY reasonable — good for lunch on a budget.

I didn’t intend to eat here. See, I was working down the interstate in Frostburg, where because of its university offered Pizza, Pizza, and Pizza. Fire up the Unilocal app, find something that isn’t pizza, hit directions… and up pops Apple Maps. I’m not exactly sure where the restaurant I intended to visit actually was thanks to Apple Maps, but it put me right in front of Uncle Jacks. So, pizza it is! Uncle Jack’s is a cute little bar/pizza place with a patio out back. Service was friendly and attentive, and my stromboli was excellent. There’s a decent selection of beers, but I was driving. Save room for the peanut butter pie for dessert. I liked it enough that I would tell the GPS to actually take me here next time. But I won’t use Apple Maps so I don’t end up in West Virginia or something.

Went to go visit a friend down in Cumberland and we met up at this place that she suggested. When you first walk in you get the typical bar feel. Nothing special and we came during lunch time so there was a pizza bar and salad bar set up. The majority of the people here were eating pizza when I walked in and the waitress said they make their dough fresh everyday so I knew pizza was the winner at this local cumberland«hot spot»(*sense the sarcasm*). I got a veggie chicago style pizza. They say their specialty pizza’s are only thin crust, but they will make it chicago style sometimes if you ask!(as per the waitress). I gotta say though, the pizza was pretty good! I would definitely recommend it if you are here. My other friends got the veggie calzones(no we are not vegetarian it just happened that we all got veggie) and they were pretty pleased with it also! The calzone or pizza is for sure the hot thing on the menu when going here. For desert we got the brownie bowl. When I get a brownie desert I expect a hot brownie… I mean really, if you’re not going to warm up the brownie and place cold ice cream on top why even have it as a desert option… doesn’t make sense to me. Needless to say, the brownie was NOT warm, and I was pretty disappointed… but we managed to demolish the desert anyway… regardless it wasn’t that good and I don’t recommend the brownie bowl… unless you like cold brownies… If I’m ever back in cumberland I would come back here for the pizza or calzone. As for the service the waitress was ok. Our drinks were empty at multiple points and she didn’t refill them till we asked. We had to go up to her to ask to place the order for the desert as she was sitting down. 3 stars for the good pizza and calzones. mediocre service and terrible desert. also probably one of the CHEAPEST but better meals I’ve had recently.

NICESPOTINTOWNFORPIZZAPIEANDSUDS : Overall this is a GOOD place to go– it’s in a nice location downtown, there aren’t too many issues with the quality of the food. and they have good specials during football and baseball season. Also they offer live music on a variety of nights, they have a back patio area, and have plenty of TVA to watch whatever game you are in search of! However– service is a big question mark. Anything pizza related is a good choice — they have a very cheap but loaded all you can eat lunch buffet — beer is somewhat cheap and reasonable — with happy hour specials and good options throughout. There’s a reason why the place is packed usually from open to close. Service however is the biggest question mark they have. I can’t speak to how many hands they have on deck during a busy time, but if nothing else hire or schedule an extra waitress during peak hours! There have been several times when I sit there without a refill for 10 – 15 minutes and have to flag down someone. It may because they are very busy– or under-staffed. Most of the waitresses are friendly, courteous, and helpful– it’s just getting them over. I definitely recommend a go at this. I haven’t been in awhile, but I know the food is worth the wait!

Service: 0.0 /5(Utterly terrible, see details below) Atmosphere: 3.0 /5(Old building, restored tin ceiling) Menu: 3.5 /5(Pub fare, pretty broad selection, very fair prices) Cleanliness: 1.5 /5(No soap in the bathroom. Greasy, sticky menus.) Food quality: 4.0 /5(Based on similar dishes from comparable restaurants) Stopped in this place for the first time to meet some family. I was there by myself at first, and I grabbed a big enough table for our small group. It was around 1pm on a Saturday, and business was relatively slow. 10 – 15 minutes later, a waitress came by and asked if I knew what I’d like. I asked if I could see a menu, and she brought one. I told her I was waiting for a few people. She furled her brow and said«How many people?» I said«5 or 6 total.» She turned her head away slightly and let out an exaggerated 10-second sigh. I asked«Is that okay? 5 or 6 people?» She paused and said«Yea. That’s fine. What can I get you to drink?» I asked for water, and also a hot tea a few minutes later. This young woman, the waitress, was the third person that I had spoke with. The first woman walked away when I asked her about a table. The second woman was obviously drunk, but still more helpful than the other two(in hindsight). The others showed up, making 7 in all, and we moved to the adjacent table to have a little more space. The waitress brought the hot tea, which was a ‘family-size’ teabag(which are used for making gallons of tea at a time) in a cup of hot water. I let it steep for about 20 seconds, and it was still(obviously) quite bitter. 20 – 25 minutes later, the other 6 people at the table had their drinks in front of them. A couple of beers, a couple of sodas. The drunk waitress was trying to explain the inner mechanical workings of their soda/tea machine in an effort to explain that they didn’t have unsweetened tea at the moment. «I’m sorry, we don’t have any» would have easily sufficed. Eventually our waitress returned and took everyone’s order. A stromboli, a few self-serve buffets, a steak sub, and two orders of chicken wings. The food came after about 30 minutes, which is normal, but the waitress was completely absent in the meantime. The food came out and overall looked pretty good based on what I expected. About 10 – 15 minutes later, the guests at our table got silverware and napkins, but only upon request. The waitress managed to get 90% of the food order correct. Everyone was mostly happy with the food. The soup was a very sad thing, though. One was called«Maryland Crab», and the other was called«Cream of Potato». Both are heinous misnomers, and both were obviously straight from a box or can. The stromboli was quite good, as far as pub food goes, so I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something greasy and tasty after you’ve had a bunch of booze. The red sauce was done well with a good coulis consistency. The chopped steak in the stromboli(and on dude’s sub) was exactly what I hoped for. The wings looked good too, but I didnt taste them. Sadly, the food didn’t make up for the ineptitude and nastiness of the front-of-house. 0% chance that I’d give them my money again. The waitresses seemed to have a personal grudge against us for(gasp!) wanting to order food at a restaurant.
