This is difficult to rate, food 2.5 stars, service 0.5. Came here at 7:30PM with a party of 10, 4 kids. Staff is friendly, but not efficient. Took us 2+ hours to get all the food, one plate at a time with up to 15 minutes in between-we couldn’t wait for each others plates or the lukewarm food would have been cold, likely colder than the beer and sake. Food was from very good(beef) to okay(crab) to bad /tasteless(tofu). Beer — ordered Asahi, waiter comes back saying«here is your Kirin» us «we ordered Asahi» he «oh we don’t have that right now» ., nough said. Not worth to give this a second try.

I’ve been here once before, and their food was okay. The only reason my girlfriend and I have gone to this sup-par restaurant was because of the decent deal they give through their groupon offer. After tonight’s experience with what seemed to be their hostess/possible owner, I will never be going here again. My story: Now I admit, we are near the expiration of the groupon we have, and I expected a long wait or perhaps a solution to come at a later date, but the hostess came up with no such solution. In fact, her response when we arrived at 8pm was, «we’re booked, sorry. You need a reservation» At this point, I was expecting a possible solution, no such thing came. So we left, noticing the pair of empty tables with no one waiting for them… I had my girlfriend check Unilocal to see if maybe we missed something and/or made a mistake and we noticed an availability for a reservation for 8:45pm. I told her to book it but call back to confirm. We mentioned how we were just there and wanted to confirm if that 8:45pm was still available. Lucky for us, the same horrible hostess picked up, with her lack of customer service, she responded with«you want the 8:45pm reservation or not.» Not acknowledging any mistake on her part, she repeated the same statement and eventually hung up since we decided that going here was a waste of time. Furious about the experience I’ve had, I’ll never be going nor recommending this restaurant to anyone.

So, I made reservations for 12:15 and showed up at 12. Table was already waiting for us and the nice greeter showed us to our table. Todays menu was the crispy crab bites, the miso eggplant for her and the sea bass for me. Unfortunately, the sea bass was already sold out(note that the place was only open for 30 minutes before we got there…) so I settled for the Salmon. 20 minutes goes by and we finally get our miso soup, which was delicious. 5 minutes later, we got our spinach salad with miso dressing and bacon bits. It was pretty good but kind of tart for a miso dressing. Still, I wanted more :) About 15 minutes later, our dishes finally arrive. The service was pretty slow. The eggplant in miso was serious yum. I wanted to eat the whole thing but the wife was giving me the stink eye. I made peace by giving her some of my salmon and we thought it was pretty darned good. It was cooked a little more than I’d like but overall, it was pretty fair. I have to warn you, though, portions are on the smaller side but maybe I was a little grump because we had to wait so long. There seems to be only one server, greeter, order taker out front. Seriously understaffed for a place that has so many eaters. So you’re probably wondering why I haven’t reviewed the crab bite appetizers. The reason is that we never got it. We asked the waitress about them but a few minutes later she returned and told us that it was unlikely that they would appear anytime soon. I was seriously bummed. I didn’t get my sea bass or the crab bites. Doh! I was kind of upset about this because I was expecting more from this place. The food that we got was quite delicious but if I can’t get what I want, what’s the point? Despite me being all steamed about this, the waitress came back shortly after and apologized for the long wait and for the fact that I didn’t get anything that I wanted off their menu. Ordinarily, that would have been enough but she went a step further. Not only did she not charge us for the missing crab cakes, she didn’t charge us for our meals. That’s right folks. FREELUNCH. That’s customer service for you. Highly impressed with how she handled it. Impressed enough to leave a $ 10 tip. I figured, since we got at least one dish ordered, might as well pay for that. She saved an otherwise hopeless outing and won me over as a repeat customer. I’ll definitely go back again and will be sure to post another review.

Located across the street from Home Depot in a small plaza. Cute little restaurant nestled in a sketchy looking plaza. Once you step inside, the interior is simple & modern. I came for lunch & decided to have the Chicken Karrage, my girlfriend chose the Char Siu Marinated Chilean Sea Bass. Both came with a salad, miso soup and rice. The salad was yummy, a spinach salad with bacon bits dressed with an Asian dressing(not quite sure what it’s called). Miso soup came nice and hot. My entrée was ok, the ginger soy vinaigrette made the dish better. I had a bite of my gf’s sea bass and it was so good I was eating off her plate! I am a huge fan of Chinese BBQ pork(char siu), so I was in love with the marinade. It was also nice and tender with slightly charred parts due to it being baked. My gf really liked the charred parts. The price for lunch was great. $ 12 for soup/salad/rice/chicken karrage.

Friday night and we had no obligations w/friends or family, so hubby and I decided to go out for dinner. We looked on open table to find somewhere where we could make last minute reservations and found Red Crane. We haven’t been there for 2 years, and last time we went, I remembered it as being pretty good, so off we went. Man, what a huge change in service and food. We got there a bit early and were told to wait. There was no space to wait inside, so we went in the car to sit and wait. We came back in 5 minutes before our reservation time and there were 2 groups ahead of us w/no reservation. We told the«host» that we were sitting in the car, waiting per the other«host’s» recommendation, but they still seated the 2 groups w/walk ins before us. With reservations, it took us 25 minutes to get seated. When it came time to order, 2 of the 6 dishes we ordered were out, but they didn’t tell us that until 30 minutes into the meal. The quality of the food now is worst than what I can make at home. Their bacon fried rice is a joke and their coffee ribs is no longer«fall off the bone tender» since there was no freakin bone! The restaurant owners need to HIREMORESTAFF. They had 2 people running the floor. This included hosting, busing the tables, serving, taking orders, ringing up the bill, opening wine, and then some. I was so upset at how long our food took, how much it cost, and how crappy the quality was, but as I was going to take it out on our waiter, I realized he only got paid $ 8/hour and he was really nice. It’s management’s cheap fault for the demise of this restaurant. We’ll never come back. Friday night dinner with the hubby should be relaxing, not stressful.

Came here for dinner with 2 of our friends because of yet another online deal — I swear we’re never buying another food deal because we’ve been eating so much crappy food lately because of them! The restaurant looks like a hole-in-a-wall inside a very ghetto-looking plaza, but the interior is a slightly better improvement… I would have never expected to see such a place just by looking at it from the outside. The waitresses are very nice and friendly but they seriously need more staff in the kitchen because it took forever for each of our plate to arrive — they’re tapa-style so it literally is impossible to get full off of just 1 thing per person… so when it takes forever and a day between each plate, it’s very unacceptable(our waitress had to apologize so many times for the food being late, I started feeling bad for them)! We basically ordered about 1 item from each category on the menu & some of the things I remember were: — red crane salad: the bacon was a nice touch to the salad, otherwise very refreshing(and very SMALL!) — roasted garlic chow mein: very disappointing, it’s just noodles with garlic… I had hoped for more garnish and/or veggies but no… they were quite literal with the name… — seared scallops: this was delicious but again, very small… — sea bass: well-made and executed, probably my favorite dish of the night… Even after the online deal, I ended up shelling out a horrendous amount of money for the entire meal. I was very disappointed at how little food we got to eat(and the amount of time we had to wait for them to come out even though they were just small plates!)…never again!

Awesome place for a low key date, although it can get a little pricey if you don’t come equipped with a Living Social or Groupon deal! I had made reservations on Unilocal via Open Table, but when I got to the restaurant, they said I didn’t have one. Strange… Perhaps they don’t use Open Table very often, so beware! Regardless, my boyfriend and I were able to get a table without a problem at 7PM on a Friday night. I got a decent variety of dishes because I love having a little bit of everything. At the very least, everything was decently tasty, but most things were delicious. We started off with the Crispy Crab Bites and Roasted Garlic Edamame, both of which I absolutely LOVED. The Crispy Crab Bites came with spicy mayo and were better than most crab cakes that I’ve tried from other restaurants. The Roasted Garlic Edamame came out warm with a perfectly sweet flavor giving, what would normally be a plain dish, a bit of depth. I didn’t really feel the same way about the Shaking Beef. In fact, it was a little disappointing to me since it’s typically one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. It wasn’t bad, but I think the flavor was more tangy than it should be, and the meat was more on the chewy side, making it even less enjoyable for me. The Coffee Glazed Ribs were also a bit disappointing, though I knew they wouldn’t be amazing. It was overbearingly sweet and heavy in flavor, which isn’t really my kind of cuisine. Disappointing dishes aside, the Char Siu Sea Bass was to die for! It really hit the spot. It’s probably the best Asian fusion styled dish I’ve ever had. Sea bass is always a great fish on its own, but the Char Siu really added to the flavor without losing its buttery goodness. We also got the Bacon Fried Rice and Garlic Chow Mein, which was probably a bit glutinous of us, but I just had to try them both. The Bacon Fried Rice came in a HUGE bowl. There was way too much rice for just two people, but it definitely served a great purpose: filling us up. The main entrees at Red Crane come in a rather small portion(typical of many similar restaurants), but the fried rice definitely saved us from leaving hungry. The Garlic Chow Mein was pretty good, especially the little bits of it that were slightly crispy. I would love to come back, especially knowing exactly which dishes I want to order, but I don’t foresee that happening any time in the near future because it can definitely be more on the expensive side for such small portions. Even though dinner turned out to be amazing, I must admit, I was a little anxious after reading some of the Unilocal reviews on the terrible service and long waits for food. I’m really happy I decided to try it anyway because I didn’t experience any of those problems. In fact, I think our server was extremely nice, accommodating, and patient. Definitely no complaints there. If you’re contemplating on coming to Red Crane, I’d say Red Crane is definitely worth a shot. Don’t let the weird looking strip mall/plaza throw you off; it’s much nicer inside!

Do not come here expecting to get full unless you’ve got some deep pockets. The food for the most part is well-executed, but it definitely does not live up to the high price point given the rather small portion sizes. I’ve been here twice, both times were because we had some kind of coupon/discount. Food I’ve tried: Garlic Noodles: Pretty good, nice garlicky flavor. Got this dish mainly so we would have some kind of carb in an attempt to get full. Slightly overpriced. Rainbow Ceviche: Not bad, but definitely on the smaller side. Char Siu Seabass: Quite an amazing but rather small piece of fish. Super tender and delicate. I think this is their signature dish, it’s definitely a splurge. Chile Crab: Good flavor. Only dish that I found to be of OK value in terms of portion size and quality. The sauce pairs well with rice. Shaking Beef: Complete disappointment. Not much flavor, pretty tough and chewy. I probably won’t be back again.

Who would have known that a totally nice little restaurant would be tucked away next to a liquor store, in a strip mall next to Home Depot?!! If it weren’t for Groupon, not me! Bf and I dined at The Red Crane on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised. Service: Excellent. Our waitress was the sweetest girl imaginable and provided perfect service. Attentive but not pushy. Knew the menu. Super nice. Menu: Small but do-able. Tasty options that wont overwhelm. A few fish, chicken, steak options, salads, and several appetizers. Alcohol was on the pricier side, but on Wednesdays select wine is half off. Ambiance: White table cloths but still casual. Quickly forgot I was in a strip mall next to Home Depot. Food: Ordered the roll of the day(spicy tuna) $ 12, bacon fried rice $ 9, and two sizzling rice miso soups $ 3 ea. — Tuna roll was good. A bit on the heavy side because it was fried, but it made for a good meal. — Bacon fried rice was HUGE. Forgetting that most things are meant to be shared, we were beyond shocked when this ginormous bowl of hot, greasy, carb filled goodness was brought to our table. You can’t really go wrong with fat+carbs, so of course the rice was super tasty. Could have used some soy sauce because it was lacking in the salt department, so if you order it be sure to request some soy. Bf and I could only eat a little bit of it because it was so grease infused, but we brought the rest home to enjoy later. — Sizzling miso was really tasty, and when its brought out the waitress pours little rice crispies in the soup and they make a little crackling sound. Good stuff! Now that we know they’re there we’ll definitely be back for more!

Checked this place out today with a friend because I found a deal on Groupon for $ 15 for $ 30. The restaurant is a lot smaller than I imagined, with a few seats being occupied, and ambiance great for a date, family gathering, or just to catch up. We ordered: Roasted Garlic Edamame($ 4) — This was a bit more flavorful than your typical edamame. There’s a hint of garlic/shallot with a teriyaki type sauce. It was average. Roasted Garlic Chow Mein($ 10) — A medium size, but I kind of wished it was larger. I really enjoyed the flavor of this dish– super garlicy with a basil hint to it. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was a bit dry, and I wished that the noodles could have been more saucy instead of stuck together. We were debating on this or the fried rice. I saw 2 other tables get the fried rice and the serving was huge! Miso Glazed Chicken($ 15) — The chicken was tender and juicy, but super flavorful on the outside. Although the chicken was hot, the eggplant and mushrooms were kind of cold. I liked the dish, but I don’t think 2 chicken thigh/legs are worth $ 15 at a restaurant, I’d rather make this at home. Char Siu Marinated Chilean Sea Bass($ 24) — This is a splurge. But, if you have never had this type of sea bass, I recommend you try it because it’s not something you can whip up in your own kitchen. unless you’re some type of Martha Stewart. Sea bass in general is pretty expensive, so I can see why this dish has a larger price tag. Super flavorful and moist, and comes with bok choy. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. I would never come back without a Groupon or Living Social deal though, because I do think the prices are a bit steep for the quality, taste, and amount of food. I would rate food for the amount of $ a 3, but I’m bumping it up to 4 stars because our waitress, Amanda, was super friendly and the owner or chef? even came out to greet some of the tables. The people here genuinely care about the food and their customers, which sort of allowed me to overlook the prices(well and the Groupon helped too).

4.5 stars. Impressive. This hidden restaurant is such a treasure once I discovered it with my family! My best friend had raved about this place, but never thought much of it because it is in the most awkward location! Near Home Depot and random stores. Plus when I looked at the menu it looked over priced and didn’t think Cupertino, my own home town could have such a restaurant like this. I finally got to try it because there was a groupon a few months back $ 15 for $ 30 worth of food! My parents and I absolutely loved this place! The food was so divineeeee. I love this place because not only is the taste so amazing, how they plate it seems so artistic! Crispy Crab Bites Appetizier — Looks like Tator tots but it has real crab!(Some places use canned crab). SOGOOD! Not oily or anything for being fried. Miso Glazed Chicken — WOW. Thick, tender, and so juicy! I was ehh when my dad wanted it, but it was cooked to perfection! The taste was sweet and pink too! Not pink indicating it was still rare, but pink to indicate the marination that absorbed through the meat! Char Siu Chilean Sea Bass — MYFAVEDISH! This is a must for anyone that goes here. I love char siu pork and the flavoring on a fish was simply astonishing. I can’t describe how much I loved this dish. The texture of the fish was so soft and looked so pretty in pink on top of a bunch of greens. Chile Crab — I wish this dish wasn’t so spicy! I would have eaten more if it wasn’t…My momma wanted this. They do put lots of soft shell crab though! They aren’t stingy at all! Roasted Garlic Chow Mein — We got this side dish to eat with our main meals. It was like garlic noodles, except cooked with a different type of noodle. Really good! Except thought it was sort of oily… Pan Cotta Trio — My dad couldn’t resist and had to try it! It is basically a flan-like texture with the different flavorings of Lychee, Mango, and Passion Fruit. Everything here was so tasty that the moment after, we bought 2 more Groupons since yesterday was the last day to purchase them. The service is so awesome! I made reservations before it started to get packed. Our waiter was so sweet and friendly. He spoke so eloquently! He probably had one of the best people skills as a waiter that I have ever seen! After our meal, we definitely left happy. We thought we weren’t going to be full since the portions are small and sort of overpriced… but we were stuffed! I could rave about this place and go on and on… but I am stopping now… Come check this place out! It is totally worth going here!

Full of surprises! That’s probably the best way to describe The Red Crane. Located in a nondescript strip mall in Cupertino, it looks like nothing special on the outside. As you step inside, you’re welcomed with pleasant bamboo décor and a nice, calm ambiance. The menu is limited for lunch specials all of which are served with miso soup, a salad of your choice(chicken salad, wasabi caesar, or miso spinach), and garlic noodles. The miso soup was good, as always, as was the miso spinach salad. I selected the miso glazed eggplant as my main entrée. The eggplant was al dente, so retained a slight bite, which was great. The miso glaze was so delicious, and despite having it on my salad, as well, I couldn’t get enough! Miso overload in the best way possible! The garlic noodles were thin, flavorful, and not oily, which I always appreciate. For an $ 11 lunch, this was a steal of a deal! Not only was the food great and plentiful, the presentation of the meal was fabulous, and the service very friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend The Red Crane if you happen to be in the area for lunch. I would imagine the dinner to be equally great. P. S. Not sure why folks are complaining about the«unknown» upcharge for some of the seafood entrees on the menu. Those particular entrees are very clearly marked with an asterisk, and unless you’re blind, it’s very obvious that you will have to pay a $ 5 upcharge above and beyond the stated menu price. No surprise there.

I have been wanting to try The Red Crane for a long time. I have sampled numerous of their small bites and teasers from various events. Every time I would remind myself to pay this restaurant a visit but I just kept procrastinating. I am glad I have waited though. The current version of The Red Crane, is less of a Americanized Japanese sushi joint and more of a Asian Fusion restaurant, which is what I think it should be. Located in a fairly quiet strip mall, the setting of restaurant is actually quite casual. I found the ambiance and service down to earth and non pretentious. The menu is very simple. Only a handful of appetizer, small bites and entrees to choose from. Our server gave fairly good recommendations(of which I purposely ignored). The Char Siu fish filet(Alaskan Black Cod or Chilean Sea Bass) is their signature dish and is something you should definitely get if you want a delightful meal. I had the sea bass version. The seasoning was adequate, not overwhelming and the texture of the fish was super buttery. Other dishes were mediocre. I had their rainbow cheviche and basil eggplants. Neither really stood out. Cheviche was too mellow. Basil eggplants were exactly like those from just any Chinese restaurants. For dessert I ordered the shaved ice martini. It was quite a surprise. The shaved ice was made out of flavored water instead of just pouring syrup over plain ice. They also put vanilla ice cream and red bean paste inside. The Red Crane is a nice restaurant with some potential. It seems to me this restaurant is still playing on the safe side. I would love to see more creative daring real fusion dishes.

My mom bought a Google Offer for this place for $ 20 for $ 40 dollars. We made reservations for 6:15 and were seated right away. They quickly brought out the waters and took our orders. We ordered the Sea Bass, the Kona Glazed Ribs and the Garlic Chow Mein. The food was REALLY good although the quantity of food was very small, but I guess it makes up for in the quality section. However, when we looked around the other tables ordered the same dishes and they had portions TWICE as big as ours. so we were like WTF? Maybe because we had the google offer they decided to give us less? We compared with two other tables and we confirmed that our portion size was way smaller than theirs. They did tell us that it would take 20 minutes in between courses and stated that it was Family style. But how can a place be family style if you got a small portion and only ONE thing to eat at a time?! I mean the food was good(hence the three stars) but after awhile, eating the same thing over and over just gets boring! It would be a lot better if the food all came out at once. ALSO, we noticed that all the tables were full but no one had any food! It’s kinda weird just sitting there starving without having something to munch on at LEAST. The food’s good but IDK if its worth the expensive price PLUS the slow food time. Don’t think I will be back here ever again.

After our last dining experience here, I’m never going to eat here again. I used to be a big fan of Red Crane. I have come here plenty of times. My favorite dishes are the salmon tartar and and the char siu cod. We live close enough and liked the food enough to get a Google Offer for $ 20 for $ 40 worth of food. The night we wanted to use the Google Offer, I made reservations for 6:30pm. We got our table the minute we walked in and all was good. Our server, whose name I regrettably didn’t learn, was the same server we got the last time. I don’t know what it was about this guy that rubbed me the wrong way, but he came off pretentious. There was another Asian guy who helped refill drinks and bring out some of the dishes and he was fine. The wait for the food was EXCRUCIATINGLY long. We got our salmon tartar fairly quickly, but after that it was a good 20 minutes before we got our next dish. It was pretty ridiculous. It was like that for every single dish after the salmon tartar. I know that they make their food in batches so that’s probably why it takes so long, but if that method is going to allow service to suffer, then they need to figure out another system. After reading some other negative reviews it seems that I’m not the only one who has experienced this unreasonably long wait for food and that some other customers actually left before their meal was over. This is awful and unacceptable… and clearly the management has done nothing to fix this. Tried the roasted garlic chow mein for the first time and it was really salty. The diced raw tomatoes on top didn’t really go very well with the dish either. Also tried the scallops and they were GODAWFUL. I don’t know how scallops can be topped with so much crap and still taste so bland. None of the flavors were appealing in this dish and nothing meshed well. I can’t believe they are charging $ 20 for it. The server was like a ninja, swooping in and out just to drop off dishes and disappear. Not once did he ask how our food was or how we were enjoying it. Typically not a big deal, but for someone I already wrote off as pretentious this would have helped his case a little. We were sitting at the table for a long time before our server even came up to our table to ask about dessert. Hell no, after our horrible meal all we wanted to do was get the eff out of there. We showed the server our Google Offer on my phone and he couldn’t even process it, saying the server was down(I just think he didn’t know how to use it). Anyway, he had to manually process the offer, but when we got our bill back with the offer applied I noticed that they automatically calculated 18% tip. W-T-F. We were a party of two, not a party of 6 or more, so I don’t understand why this was done. They are basically sending the message that they don’t trust their customers to tip so they’re going to calculate tip for you. I don’t remember them ever doing this before so it must be a recent change. I’ve seen places that calculate«suggested tip» on the bottom but here at Red Crane they essentially force you to pay 18% and even include a line for«additional tip»! Are you friggin kidding me?! And what if I didn’t want to give 18%? Because our server sure as hell didn’t deserve 18%. Red Crane: tip is not a requirement, remember that. This is the single biggest thing that pissed me off because the service was SO bad. It really was like a slap in the face. This last dinner seriously left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. It’s hard to remember I ever thought fondly of this place. Food has suffered along with the service and because of this I don’t feel like paying a dime for their overpriced food. What a shame. Never again, Red Crane, never again.

The desserts make it… the wait and slow service break it. Gives me what I want out of asian fusion: excellent presentation, casual but aesthetic atmosphere, and a place where I can be loud but eat a decent variety of food. I ordered the steak bites and the seafood appetizer. The HIGHLIGHT of the meal was the dessert. They hooked us up with a shot glasses filled with different flavored pudding… really good. We were all anxiously anticipating the chocolate volcano cake which took about an hour to come out…*drum roll* Fail. Cancel the drum roll, its just a betty crocker take in a bowl.

Bougie girl, grab her hand Tellin me she want F*#% Red Crane Excuse my French but we in Cupertino(I’m just sayin) Prince William don’t even like this place if you ask me Cause if I was him I would just had dinner with Mary Kate & Ashley ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Red Crane = Overpriced Place for Bougie folks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ O damn you Groupon Coupon who suckered me into going to this place, as I bought a 50% off deal, and looked at the menu and the pictures and thought to myself fancy aye… blaaaaaaaahhh is an understatement… this place allowed you to make a reservation from their Unilocal page via open table thinkin wow the ladies love it when there is a reservation for dinner makes them feel fancy nancy… really didn’t matter as the place wasn’t even filled to capacity, service was a-ok really had 2 waiters for the whole restaurant and a bunch of hostess standing in the front when you walk in doing nothing… they told us that it was going to be family style portions and looking at the prices they better be… so when the food came i was so shocked, and it takes the food forever to come out o my goodness, when we ordered a side ordered of steamed rice it came out 10 mins after both of our entrees… Let’s break it down shall we Monsieur: Sizzling Rice Miso Soup($ 3) — it was ok, nothing special Rainbow Cevich($ 18) — ok so I love ceviche and $ 18 you would think you would get something pretty decent and fulfilling, o my the smallest portion of food I have ever gotten in my life, take a look at the«PICTURE», i mean this belongs on the appetizer menu! Char Siu Marinated Chilean Sea Bass($ 24) — this was pretty good, the only reason why they got a 2-star instead of 1 :( Shaking Beef($ 19) — i had to order this cuz the Cevich plate did not fill me up, but i was so disappointed with this one also as the quality of meat was horrible, should have just picked up a Big Mac to fill me up on the way home instead of wasting more mula at this place ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This place tires to be all fancy smancy, but the location and the quality of food are lacking but they compensate by jacking up the prices for every plate and making you wait a very long time so I guess that counts for something… o why didn’t my sarcasm warn me to stay home as the left-over in my fridge would have sufficed!!!

I was ecstatic that The Red Crane is an Asian fusion restaurant. I love eating Asian fusion. I came here with one of my guy friend because I have booked mark this place for quite awhile. To my surprise I really love the food and service. Although, I wish their portion was a little bit bigger. I was not feel with 3 small entrée. I am definitely coming back. I really love their fish dishes. So delicious and yummy!

I love their $ 10 lunch specials! For $ 10 you get a small salad, miso soup, a choice of a small entrée, and small side of garlic noodles. My favorite salad is the Red Crane salad which has baby spinach with tomatoes, sweet red onions, bacon bits and a miso vinaigrette. My favorite entrees so far are the miso glazed Japanese eggplant and agedashi tofu. Both entrees were delicious and very favorable! The quality and presentation of the food was exceptional! The only problem is that their serving sizes are pretty small… so it may be difficult to get full if you have a HUGE appetite!

I must have passed this place a few dozen times without realizing they existed. On this rainy afternoon, I did not finish my appointment until around 1:30PM, I was hungry and wanted to go somewhere I haven’t been before. So, onto Unilocal and up popped The Red Crane. Since they are across the street from one of my favorite Starbucks and they stay open till 2:30PM, I went to see how the food is. They have a special lunch menu and since I have heard so much about their char siu glazed Alaskan black cod, I ordered it. The lunch set comes with a bowl of miso soup, a choice of a side salad and the main dish. For the salad I had the Wasabi Caesar, the romaine lettuce was fresh and crunchy, with just the right amount of dressing. The miso soup was a little on the salty side. Then onto the cod, it was tender and juicy, but I found the char siu to be a little too sweet. The service was prompt and courteous. So, four stars for now until I come back and try their dinner.
