Well, it is my standby place for Chinese café food. Nothing fancy, decent quality and the service has improved recently. My usual is the baked pork chops over fried rice. This is really a hit and miss. Sometimes it is good, but at other times I thought I had bad prok chops. I like their ice lemon tea. All in all, an average place.

I loved Broadway bistro and was on my way there yesterday… sadly it’s gone and has been replaced with a mediocore place called Happy Restaurant. Food at Happy Restaurant made me full. but can’t say it made me happy. Now on hunt for another Hong Kong style cuisine place in the local area… anyone out there have any suggestions?

I remember this place was a good hong kong style food. The food is decently priced and taste pretty good :) Went there a while ago, don’t remember everything.

First, let me clarify, this is a rating for food only. I would rate this restaurant a 2 stars or even 1 star for overall experience. Why it worth 1 or 2 star? Cause the owner/manager has really bad attitude. Just go there and you will see, he tosses menu, always look grumpy and act grumpy. Same with the lady who probably the wife or gf. Either way, I don’t like to eat at a restaurant where the bosses or the servers look pissed off all the time. Nevertheless, I have to be fair, the food quality is pretty good. The beef chow fun was good, worth 3 stars The clay pot rice was ok worth 2.5 stars The curry is ok, worth 2 stars And then when you look at the price of $ 6 special after 5pm every day. it’s a good value that worth a solid 3 stars.

Yesterday was the first time I ate at the place, and it will be the last. It was late, 9pm, and we were hungry and found this place open. The first sign for us should have been that nobody else was in here. So there was 8 adults– 4 adults and 4 little kids, age 5 and under. They forgot our drinks. We had to ask them twice. And we waited 30 minutes for one dish. Everything else had come and we figured the other dish(portugese baked chicken) probably takes a while. Well, when we asked about the dish, they brought it out, and it looked like it’s been sitting there for a while. No apologies, nothing. On top of that, when we got the bill, they had the nerve to charge us a service charge because we were 8 people. WHATSERVICE? You would think service would be great since we were the only ones in there, plus there were at least 4 waiters sitting around WATCHINGTV. I do not recommend this place to anyone. My pineapple fried rice was soooooo bland. If the food was good, I’d be more forgiving on the service. But never again. I will never step foot into this place again. What a joke.

I had their baked pork chop and wow, the pork chop was crispy and the sauce was good! I just wish they had boneless pork chops. Their Corn soup with puff pastry was delicious! Well, corn coup at HK cafes are definitely not like corn chowder at American restaurants. Boyfriend had the grilled chicken steak with pepper sauce. The pepper sauce was so flavorful and thick! He got TWO pieces of chicken too. His meal came with soup and a scoop of ice cream at the end. Our friends had meatball porridge which looked and tasted bland, but I guess what do you expect with meatballs in soupy rice. They also had duck noodle soup which he said tasted good and the soup was just very broth-y. Their service was good. Filled our teas promptly and was nice enough to give my boyfriend an extra whole bowl of pepper sauce. I guess their service should be good since there were only(at most) 3 tables when we were in there late night with two servers.

Came here for lunch and had the won ton soup. Friend had the beef tongue spaghetti Came with the usual HK tea. The wonton was ok but not memorable. Didn’t stand out much so probably will try other places before coming back here.

Just like the description for the three star rating on Unilocal, this place is «A-OK». Meaning, it’s decent and perhaps even on the average side. In some ways, the taste of the food crosses this review over maybe to the«eh» side. My dad and I ended up ordering the Roti Prata, Calamari rings, Cheung fun with XO sauce, noodles(something with intestines. but I didn’t really eat this), an order of Hong Kong styled milk tea, red bean snow, and papaya milk. As for the bill, this all added up to around $ 32, excluding tip. People have different opinions on whether or not that’s cheap or expensive, so you guys could do the judging of that. For me, it’s average. The menu was pretty thick and offered a wide selection, but with me, I’m rather picky with the quality of the food before I end up ordering, and what really disappointed me was that a lot of their drink and dessert entries were powder based(i.e. black sesame dessert, almond drink). It was a good thing my dad ordered the papaya milk for me after I finished off my red bean drink because the quality of this compensated for the lack of the special taste for food. About the papaya milk, this place wasn’t stingy with this drink and it was literally filled all the way to the top and there was barely any empty space in the cup! Also, the good thing about this drink is that you can’t get ripped off since it’s a rule of thumb to not include ice cubes with good papaya milk. About the food, I would say it is nothing special or out of the ordinary. The taste didn’t really stand out to me, and it’s a fair place to go if students went to De Anza nearby. As a matter of fact, when I got the Roti Prata, the curry dipping sauce tasted weird, so I just ended up eating the bread — which was decent. However, the calamari rings looked more interesting than other places in that they were a darker brown in comparison to the standard golden brown ones. As for the cheung fun(I don’t know what this is in English. sorry!), it was regular. And let me just tell you that I live on the east side of San Jose, and I don’t think I would want to drive all the way here(20 minute drive at least) to eat. It’s really not a good use of gas. Unless I just so happen to be in the area, then perhaps I’ll stop by here. Otherwise, eh, I might not be back here. at least not for a while. I’m sorry, Broadway Bistro, but I think I may stay loyal to Top Café if I ever want to eat HK café style food.

This is THE place I want to go to when it’s late at night but that’s more a reflection of the lack of options in cupertino/saratoga than of how good they are. Everything about this place is inconsistent. It’s almost as if they cater exclusively to a drunken clientele late at night and just assume that no one will ever notice the lack of quality. But a few things that haven’t escaped my notice is glasses with stains, dirty tea cups and things floating around in my water. How does that even happen? Use a Brita filter man or wash your dishes. The food is just ok. They have a wide selection of Chinese food and I usually settle on the duck congee or the ying yang fried rice and it’s always a huge quantity but it’s never good enough for me to want to take home. The first time I had ying yang fried rice I was amazed at the concept of two sauces on one dish on top of fried rice and it was so delicious. I ate off my friend’s dish the entire night. Since that night, I’ve had varying experiences but it’s never really been as good. The service is the most inconsistent part. I’ve had fast service and then I’ve had waitresses straight up ignore me and watch tv instead while I wave my hands wildly trying to catch their attention. Anyways, I complain but I still return because they are the only sit down place open late. Boo.

I come here quite often since it’s fairly close to my work and also because the food is decent in comparison to other Chinese restaurants. The food are fresh, hot and serve in big portion. If you are looking for good noodle soups or pan fried styles this is the place. The prices are pretty decent with great services.

To me Broadway is a slightly better version of Top Café. Hong Kong Style Chinese food along with Asian fusion. Me and my friends like to come here on either Friday or Saturday late at night to hang out or an end of the night snack/meal. We’re practically regulars there. They also have specials on their drinks(smoothies, asian dessert drinks, etc.) on Fridays/Saturdays as well. It’s either half off or they’re $ 1.50. Even though it’s a Bistro they give very hearty servings of their dishes too.

For awhile I still ate there because they have that weekly specials that are really cheap, e.g. a decent size fried rice for $ 4. However, their food quality has degraded so much that I don’t like to eat there anymore. I remember ordering a Chicken Curry daily special in which the chicken meat was dry and chewy. Apparently, they prepared their weekly special in such large quantity that the meat probably have been cooked over and over again until it is no longer edible. The chef should at least check the quality everyday. My original review was 4 stars when they first opened, now I give only 2 at best. It is sad that good Hong Kong style café is impossible to find in the south bay.

After dominating the No Doubt concert this last Saturday(which was super rad), the entire team had a serious need for late night grubbing. I’ve known from late nights past that Broadway Bistro was open, the team felt Chinese food worked, so we shot out of Shoreline Amphitheater and were on our way. Broadway bistro is hit or miss. It seems like sometimes we make really epic choices, and other times we don’t. I know this place has the potential for 4 stars, but I just can’t seem to get the right dishes to the table. So far, I know the thousand year old egg porridge and Chinese donuts are bomb, and I really like their seafood soup topped with filo dough. I haven’t figured out which noodle or rice dishes are the best, but I’ll definitely spice it up and try new things on the next Broadway Bizzy excursion. It’s hard to find late night food in the south bay unless you’re in San Jose, so it’s nice that there’s a restaurant like this in the outskirts.

Funny one of the other reviewers had the same experience back in March with the female hostess… We went for dinner tonight… the hostess asked us four times how many of us and I mentioned 2 + child… She was extremely rude each time she asked. She then proceeded to make us wait while chatting on the phone with someone else. We decided to leave. I like to give my business to places that have good customer service… eating out is as much about food as it is about having a good experience. There are plenty of places here that have good food and great service… I’m never going to waste the time heading back here.

Ok so the name of this place is weird, it doesn’t really relay the fact that it’s a Chinese restaurant that is open really late and doesn’t have as ghetto an asian fob crowd as some other restaurant that is open across the street from it, which will remain nameless in this review. I went here with the group of guys from tennis, as they are perpetually eating out and by doing so always taking me to good eats, and this was no exception. I know it’s just like ordinary chinese food, but it’s really good. They had great beef udon noodles, a delicious lamb dish that was not barn flavored, stomach and turnip stew, some curry, and man I forgot the rest, but what I remembered is that it was really good. As per normal outings with the guys we had no vegetables whatsoever. All around it was good eats at a fair price and is open later than normal restaurants in this area. Oh and they serve tea out of these really neat double walled metal cups that are shaped like mini kegs. I love that.

Decent food, a little pricey for some items(including beverages), so-so service and atmosphere. Kind of tries to be fancy, but fails in this regard. Came with a group of about 15 people. The staff pushed four tables together for us, which was cool. Unfortunately, the next row of tables was inadequately spaced from ours. Once it filled with other customers, our chairs and their chairs were basically back-to-back. There was no way for the people at the middle of the table/row to exit. Thankfully I used the restroom before venturing out. My mom taught me to do that when I was small. «Do you need to go to the bathroom?» «No.» “Go anyway.” «…Okay.» I had #92, the barbecue pork noodle soup($ 6.50). The noodles were thinner than I expected, but overall the food was satisfactory. The soup was salty and probably contained lots of MSG, but it tasted good. The char siu(barbecued pork) was good. I was tempted to get a roast duck dish(because roast duck always tastes awesome) but my friend pointed out that the restaurant didn’t have any roast duck hanging on display. Kind of calls the freshness of the duck into question. All beverages(mostly in the $ 3.50 to $ 4 range) were buy-one-get-one-free, so I also had a lemon iced tea. A little heavy on the ice. The food was not all brought out at once. This is understandable because we had a large group, but a pretty long time elapsed between the first dishes arriving and the last. Some of us were starting to get restless. The waitstaff didn’t make any attempt to remember whose order was whose. We were left to sort out what each dish was and to whom it belonged. Maybe that’s not a big deal for a party of two, but for a group of 15 it’s non-trivial. The square white appetizer plates and black chopsticks were a nice touch. The fact that we had to pass them out after being seated was not. Definitely feels classier than the cheaper Top Café across the street, but that’s mainly because Top is dirty dirty. Not bad, not great… three stars.

I love this place. Yea, at first the service bothered me too(since I’m American-born), but once you get to know the cashier and workers, it’s a pleasure to come here every weekend. Canto people aren’t very customer service oriented like MOST Asian places so if you’re looking for great service, go to some fu-fu American place. We always order #13 Marinated chicken breast(large piece, a bit oily but nothing a napkin can’t fix). It comes with rice or noodles, two baby tomatoes, broccoli, and corn on the cob(everything needs salt). It also comes with appetizer(cream soup and sweet bread/butter) and your choice of green tea or vanilla ice cream. It’s only $ 13.50! Also, the nan(Indian bread with curry sauce) is good and helluva lot cheaper than Straits! The shrimp wonton soup(with or without noodles) is good too! Not to mention their iced lemon tea… lots of real fresh lemon. Also, this place has great hours. It opens until 2 am on the weekends! And you can have dinner here after a late workout or come here when you feel like snacking, but don’t want to drink at a Korean bar. I always feel obligated to order beer or drinks at a Korean bar when I just want to eat, and I can do that here without drinking or a drinking tab. The décor is modern and you can watch old school HK or Korean dramas or the Chinese news. We always sit at a booth next to the wall since it’s more comfy. The bathrooms are really clean too! Top Café is really dirty. I can’t eat there. I refuse to eat there. I like Top Café’s walnut shrimp, but can’t bear to eat anything with mayonnaise on it when I’m obsessively staring at the linoleum tiled floors have hairs and dirt streaks. ew. They take credit cards for any amount. Our snacking comes out to about $ 12(shrimp wonton soup, lemon tea, and green tea ice cream(2 scoops)). Also, there is buy-one-get-one-free any drink(including boba tea, lemon tea, diet coke, you name it) after 10 p.m. on weekends. Or was it 9 p.m. Anyway, worth going here than another tea shop! And you get free black tea as you get seated.

Came here on 10/23(Tuesday) just looking for some solid Cantonese/chinese café style food thats so easy to find in LA yet rare in Norcal. Service: Me and my friend arrived real early around 10:30am and were the only customers there yet the service we received was pretty shoddy at best. Had to wave down the two servers multiple times to fill our waters since they were too busy watching the Cantonese dramas on TV up on the wall. Food: Decent, nothing impressive it’s just what you expect although the prices were kinda steep just for a bowl of soup/noodles or what I usually got: Hong Kong Style Beef Chow Fun(Gan Tsao Nio Hu), which was $ 8, normally only 6 bucks at most at other places. Food came out shortly after 5 minutes but then again we were the only ones there. Environment: Clean. Thank goodness this place puts Top Café across the street to shame. Subtle décor. Oh by the way, other Unilocaler’s mentioned a credit card minimum in their reviews, when I asked the guy and paid for the meal, there was no minimum and I got away with using a credit card for an order under $ 20. I have to admit its a pretty rare case for a Chinese run place. Overall: If your looking for a quick bite it’s a decent place to stop and eat, definitely much better than Top Café across the street but the downside is the price and the fact that it’s not open as late as Top for those drunken late night chinese food runs. Their website provides all the prices for their food if you want a preview.
