We went for lunch and ordered Bibimbab, Combination Kalbi and Combination Tofu soup, and a Bulgoki(bbq beef). Although, the food was decent tasting, the portions were small. We sat next to the front window and then we saw it! We were shocked and disgusted. The window blinds were infested. We pointed it out our waitress, the lady who spoke in Mandarin to my friend, «Doesn’t matter, all restaurants have them.» We thought that she should have apologized to us, but didn’t. Needless to say we won’t be going back and cannot recommend this place to any friends.

Clean and friendly staff. I am not an expert with Korean BBQ but I ate at quite a few of them in my lifetime(including some in Korea). The food was well prepared and tasty. Not very spicy at all(in fact I wish it had been a little more). One dish which I thought was great was the 3 mushroom Soft Tofu Hot Pot… serve still boiling, you crack a fresh egg into it, mix and enjoy very tasty morsels of soft tofu + mushrooms laced with great spices. Even my 10 year old who is a finicky eater asked if we could come back. Also the restaurant is next to an Asian supermarket with lots of live fish tanks which is fun to visit and buy a few hard to find culinary treats… We will be back for sure.

I went here on a Saturday for an early dinner. There was no one inside except for one girl working there and it was musky as a sauna in there. There was a fan blowing, but I’ll tell you that it didn’t do much and made me wish to put on some deodorant before coming. Since we were the only customers inside, we had the waitress’ undivided attention throughout our meal, so hey, a plus for service. I ordered a combo that included a Kimchi Jige and Kalbi(sorry if the spelling is off for these). I didn’t want have a gurgling stomach, so the jige, I ordered the second spiciest one they had and it was a bit underwhelming with the spiciness and the flavor. It was slightly bland I have to say that I kept thinking to myself that maybe I should’ve ordered the spiciest one. The kalbi, on the other hand, was delicious. It had good flavor and it was tender and I loved it. You usually don’t go wrong with Korean BBQ, and they didn’t disappoint here, I thought. The side dishes that they brought out with the meal was of an okay value. Maybe 6 dishes or so and not really much else to talk about… definitely not like Korea House’s plethora of side dishes. Overall, the food was okay, the service was very friendly, and the price was right. The price of the combo escapes me at this time, but I remember it being maybe about $ 12 or so and that’s a pretty good deal when it comes to Korean food. I’ve seen the kalbi go for $ 10 at some places to give you perspective.

The most recent tenant in the space formerly occupied by Ogi-San Ramen and Gillyflower Vegetarian is Wang Tofu House, a Korean-run soondubu(tofu soup) restaurant. Stopped in for dinner last night with a former coworker, who recently joined the dark side…(ie Kaiser) The interior of the place hasn’t changed, though the owners have. She was feeling hungry, so we ordered the(beef) tofu soup & bulgogi combo plus the mandu(dumpling) tofu soup. Pan chan(side dishes) were pretty standard — some noodles(I can’t honestly call it chap chae), pea sprouts, kim chi, radish and seaweed. Both tofu soups were pretty good, though the medium spicy wasn’t particularly spicy. The mandu were decent though I probably wouldn’t get it again — you’re better off sticking with the beef tofu soup. The bulgogi was also decent though not«knock your socks off» good. Overall, solid Korean soondubu but I think I prefer Tofu House given the choice.

Meh. Their«white» spice indicator has inspired me to open a restaurant with ethnically themed dining experiences. The Chinese — Service will be prompt, on time, extremely efficient, and don’t even think about haggling about the price because it’s set in stone. As for conversation between the waiter and the patrons, it will be limited to quick and harsh judgment and disappointment since the patrons most likely didn’t go to MIT which was against their parent’s wishes. The Japanese — Service will be prompt, on time, and very polite. Much care will be taken not to offend the patrons. Any shame brought on the waiter by any disappointed patrons will result in free whiskey and beef jerky for the table. Bukake service is extra but frowned upon in most geographies. The Indian — Service is prompt, polite, and attentive. All meals come with a JAVA for dummies book and all you can drink yogurt/mango/water combinations. The Canadian — Service will be extremely and superbly average. Dinner is free but you won’t get your food for 36 hours. The Korean — Service will be great until the waiter, along with the patrons, get wasted on shared Soju. The New Yorker — Go fuck yourself. Been to this place twice and it’s ok. The tofu soup is good. Limited menu and I have never seen more than 4 people in here at one time. Oh, and no AMEX. Bastards. Diversity.

So does ‘white’ mean that if you are not-brown, you have to get the white version of soup? I wondered this as I perused the menu and noticed the spicy listings as: White Mild Medium Spicy While pondering the spicy listings… I asked my beautiful dining companions what they got last time they were there and what they recommended. My flurry of rapid-fire questions was met with calm, knowledgeable answers without blinking an eye, you gotta love these foodie girls. Settled on a combination lunch of dumpling tofu soup and a plate of beef for $ 12.99. I’m all about the protein this week. Huge portions, fast service, incredibly YUMMY food. I learned that you crack the egg into your soup while hot and stir it to combine. I learned that cold sesame noodles are yummy when eaten with beef. I learned that tofu didn’t have to be tasteless even though yes it will always be a little slimy(yet yummy). I learned that my stomach capacity was pretty large(well okay I knew that already but it was proven again here when I finished basically both of my bowls of food)…I was hungry! I love learning new things and eating some yummy food while doing it. Company was fabulous as usual, and Wang Tofu will be seeing my ‘Mild’ face again very soon. Bonus.takes credit cards, a must for me. During our visit they piped in Michael Bolton at a high-level, I almost felt romantic. Almost.

Updated 5÷20÷08: Downgraded to 3 stars(would have been 2 if it was my first time there). Place looked the same and menu was the same but a totally different experience than the past few times I’ve frequented this place. Tofu soup was still good but there were no sesame noodles to start, initial dishes took a while to get to our table, bul golgi meat was thicker and quite dead looking(and tasting), they didn’t have a knife to cut the very tough kalbi nor any regular soda. So disappointing all-around for a place I used to love. Not sure if they have new owners or what but it was drastically different the 4th time around. –Original review: 5 stars– Maybe it’s just cause it’s Friday that I’m feeling so positive but I love, love, loved it!!! :-) I’m not Korean but thought it was superb food. Thanks so much to Keiko and the other Unilocalers to lead me to this new hidden gem. Highlights: — Variety: Like the option to have tofu soup, bbq, a combo of tofu and bbq, or bimbop for your meal. Also a plethora of tofu choices and more options than just beef for the bim babs. I like variety, so I opted for the combo to get to try more items. Surprisingly for the tofu, I got to pick which one I wanted instead of just getting whatever is standard. — Boolgogi(BBQ beef): Excellent! Served over onions on a sizzling platter, meat was sliced thin enough, and flavor was right on point. I love it when I find good boolgogi! Especially if I don’t have to go through the whole cook myself, eat way too much, and smell like a BBQ fiasco(unless I’m in the mood for that). — Tofu with dumplings: Pretty much tofu with mushrooms and 2 hidden steamed potstickers on the bottom. Served in the fun iron pots all bubbling. Good flavor, soft hunks of tofu, good potsticker(even though not sure what was in it). I’m a bit of a spice wimp so I went mild this time. — Seafood pancake: like a taiwanese scallion pancake but with seafood mooshed in side. Not sure what it all was but I think I ate some squid and shrimp. Huge portion of asian pan fried carby goodness with a different twist. I posted a picture for your viewing enjoyment. — Glass noodle appetizer plate: came before the rest of the kimchi-type little plates. Big plate of glass noodles with sesame oil and carrots and onions. I’m not always into the Korean sides, but I ate this up like nobody’s business. Hopefully I saved enough for my friend. :-O — Tea: very sesame-like – I really enjoyed the flavor. Looks like they use the same huge tea cups as the dumpling pot place does. :-) Lowlights(my flip side to highlights): — Location: Like everyone said, it’s on South Blaney by Bollinger not North like the address says. It’s in a big center with the Walgreens and Tin Tin market called the«pacific rim center.» — 1 Korean lady running whole place: we didn’t need much attention and she was very nice so it didn’t bother us. I couldn’t quite understand the options, though. We asked about the seafood pancake and she said it had seafood in it and we asked about the dumpling and she said it was a dumpling. But hey she was warm and smiley and it added to authenticity of the place so you knew you were getting the real deal. You don’t get full-on English explanations in Korea either I’m sure. 8-) It also added to food mystery(wonder what we’re gonna get ?) this particular lunch friend and I enjoy. — Pretty sparse environment: but hey it’s an asian place and we’re here for the food. I pretty much loved everything I ate and will definitely be coming back for more! :-)

Yay, a new(4 month old) Korean tofu place in Cupertino! I have become a huge fan of this place already. FOOD: * The banchans are fresh and colorful. I especially like the crunchy, not-too-sour kimchi that the chef/owner makes. * The barbeque meats are served SIZZLING hot. Our plate kept on sizzling for at least a minute after it arrived. It’s delicious. We’ve had spicy pork and beef(bulgogi). My favorite is the bulgogi. It’s rather dry with almost no sauce, but nonetheless, it’s well marinated and tasty. * The tofu stew is also served boiling hot. The tofu is soft and smooth… and the broth is lighter, soupier and more delicate tasting than the one at SDG Tofu. My favorite so far is the seafood, usually made to «spicy». * The white rice is sometimes too soft and mushy… depending on the day. I wish they served either brown or purple rice, al dente. MENU: The menu is the same for lunch and dinner, except for the prices. They currently serve three main entrees: tofu soup/stew, barbeque(beef short ribs, beef rib eyes and spicy pork) and dolsot bibimbab. I say«currently,» because they’re still in the process of perfecting the menu. Hopefully they won’t raise the prices! LOCATION: Thanks to Jason D’s warning, I did not get lost trying to locate the place. The address is WRONG. It’s at the corner of Bollinger and Blaney. Plenty of parking. Oh, and S L. is right. You get to watch Korean soap drama here. No English subtitle, but you’ll see that the male actors are always looking cute. That’s good enough for me. SUM: More clothes for laundry… but that’s part of a hearty Korean meal, right?

We had lunch there, and it was pretty good. Two of us had a soft tofu soup(the 3-mushroom one) and the BBQ pork(small), and it was just the right amount of food and pretty cheap for Korean food(under $ 20 with tax but not tip), and came out pretty fast. (new edit: The map on Unilocal has been corrected. Follow it, and enjoy!)

They just opened about a month ago and we’ve eaten there already 5+ times. The service is pretty good they are alway very nice and accomodating. And plus they give free refills on the side dishes which I love. The food is great! I love that they have the Bimibab there its sooo good. They don’t have much variety in the food its mostly the tofu bowls and 3BBQ items and the Bibibab. But that’s what i like. The atmosphere is cool nice, not crowded. They have a flat screen TV up on the wall that not ALWAYS playing Korean soap operas. The Staff is mostly younger. You should try it. Oh and they take Credit Cards. The spicy pork BBQ is really good there!
