I always like Yoshinoya … specially their beef bowl and vegetable. The beef taste so good and I wish there is more branches in the Bay Area.

Fast food Japanese style food. I would not recommend getting the more expensive cut of meat and just go with the standard. Reasonably priced and a good spot if you keep your expectaions low. I would say that Happi House food tastes about the same.

I’ve only ordered beef bowl here. I am a fan not only because it’s taste good, but also because it tasted 100% back home(China, not Japan). Plus HUGE portion! I was doubt if I can finish it. The beef covered the whole lunchbox, and isn’t too dry as well. With onion and some meat juice on the rice, it’s exactly how I remembered Yoshinoya, the only difference is the portion is doubled here in US… The pepper bag is not the pepper, it’s called Japanese 7 Spice. Which is exactly what I expected. But the red ginger bag is a disaster. All I can taste is salt. It’s not what I remembered at all, all these sweet/sour/spicy are gone. Suggest to change the vendor. It amused me that unlike in China, they sell all kinds of other bowls. But I think I will only order beef bowls in Yoshinoya. Hope they can maintaining the business(it’s about 80% full during lunch anyway), then I can have a good beef bowl from time to time.

DONOTCOMEHEREUNLESSYOUWANTTORISKFOODPOISONING! Came here one evening with a group and some of us ordered the clam chowder… big mistake. When the orders came out it was clear that the soup was way past its expiration date – the smell was horrible, and the taste was even worse. Awful that this restaurant tried to pass off spoiled food to us, I would give zero stars if I could.

Been awhile since the one close to the house closed. It was worth the drive. Beef was tasty as usual. Tried the orange chicken and it was cooked to order. Hot and crispy. The young man at the counter gave great customer service.

Despite being kind of janky inside, I can never say no to the stir fry original beef with veggies. Having grown up with the neon veggies and combo plates, I have a soft spot in my heart for the affordable Japanese takeout at Yoshinoya.

Came here for the first time with my sister. She got the beef bowl and i got the chicken teriyaki bowl and spring rolls. Food wasn’t so bad. Pretty much what you expect at a fast food Japanese restaurant. The chicken had good flavor and the rice was good but the vegetables were a little off. Some cooked a little too much and some cooked not enough. My sisters beef bowl was pretty good. All in all i would be back if i was in the area.

First time here. Cash register worker needs to work on her customer service skills. Looks like she hated being there. Cmon, its my first time here. Ruined the mood of trying a new spot. My friends got the combo to try all the flavors out and this is their verdict: orange chicken was basically popcorn chicken with sweet flavoring coating it. The shrimp, they said, was good. The steak meat was just thick cut meat drenched in soy sauce. I personally got the meat bowl and I was surprised on how good it actually was. So, if I ever was to go back, the meat bowl is the only thing I’ll order.

Been going to this franchise for as long as I can remember. We got there around 1pm in the afternoon on sunday for lunch. There was a 5-person wait when we got there. My dad got the beef with shrimp special, and I got the chicken teriyaki bowl. At $ 6 per order, we were pleased with our selections. The only thing is that the shrimp can come with more flavoring. Maybe a dipping sauce? I will be back, given that it’s close by. They even provide a cup of cold water with ice without being asked.

I went in to have a quick meal, but was nothing as I expected… The beef bowls were very salty, as if I were dipping salt onto the beef… and the portions were very small. I don’t usually complain about portions, but this, was really small. I’ve been to yoshinoya in LA and Japan. Nothing like this one.

Service is fast and efficient, and portions are generous. A beef bowl is all you need. Make that a large beef bowl, with the juices of the tender pieces of beef soaking into the warm steamed rice. Mmmm.

This, to me, is equivalent to a Panda Express but for Japanese food. If you’re looking for a fast, cheap meal — come here & grab a breaded shrimp bowl w/rice and steamed veggies for $ 6.95. Not a bad deal & it satisfies your hunger. I like the prices & service too. I work nearby so I’m here once in awhile when I’m craving for rice.

I like Yoshinoya a lot in Japan and Hong Kong. The ones here in the US are so so. Southern California restaurants seems better. This particular branch served angus beef and when I tried it is was disappointing. The meat was not tender and the taste was so so. I think you’re better off with just the regular beef bowl. I guess the only way I can enjoy the real Yoshinoya is when I travel to Aisa.

Been traditionally coming here since my high school days. While it’s always been a solid place, I do notice that my food quality varies by a little bit — sometimes it’s on point temperature wise, sometimes it’s not depending on the time and day. The food comes out very fast and I always get either the beef bowl or combo bowl and either will fill me up for about $ 6 – 7. I always found the veggies to be lacking in terms of flavor. If you want any spices or soy sauce, you should ask.

I find it funny that, as of writing this review, Yoshinoya doesn’t have a category on Unilocal.I know it’s supposed to be Japanese fast food, with items like Teriyaki and Bento Boxes, but it’s hard to decipher how Japanese it is. With that being said, the food isn’t too bad. I usually get the combo plate with both chicken and beef, and also vegetables, on top of steamed rice. I actually like the dish a lot. Let’s face it, I know what I’m getting. It’s not food at a fancy Japanese restaurant. But, when I want steak and eat at Sizzler, I know it’s not Peter Luger’s, but I still enjoy it! Lastly, if you’re going thru drive thru, be careful. The turns are sharp and you can hit your rims on them. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way.

If I could give this place negative stars I totally would. This is an example of where Yoshinoya franchise controls have failed spectacularly. The large chicken bowl occupied what seemed to be under three quarters of available box space, the chicken were poorly cut and couldn’t be any less appetizing. The vegetables were unevenly steamed: some where overcooked and some were undercooked.

This is like the go to food when you want something cheap and good to fill your tummy. I love their beef and steak bowl. The cashier was also very nice and worked quickly.

I miss Yoshinoya so much. The beef bowl, $ 5.49, must try. The combo bowl was so big for us to finish it. $ 6.79, worthy trying. I am surprised that they use the to go box. It some how spoiled the feeling. I wish they could have the meal sets like the Yoshinoya in Japan. Also, I don’t mind to pay $ 1 more for every bowl for a better container and a better environment. However, I’m surprised for the cheap prices.

I can’t believe I used to consider this place one of the best places to get Japanese food. Maybe cause I was a young, and broke high school teenager at the time. Felt like coming here recently more for the nostalgic reasons, since I probably haven’t been here in like 10 years. Ordered a beef teriyaki bowl and some wings. Beef bowl was definitely not as good as I remembered, and tasted pretty bland. Wings were the worse, and hardly had a taste to it. Yes, I know this is kind of what is to be expected for going to a fast food joint, but still for one of the few Japanese fast food chains, you would expect the food to taste at least somewhat Japanese. My GF’s sushi also tasted like crap you would get at 711. PASSSSSS

Yoshinoya. I’ve been enjoying Yoshinoya since I was a wee lad. Now, I come here with my son and it’s instant father-son bonding time. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as watching the spawn of your loins wolf down a huge bowl of beef and rice(well, there is, but my kids read these reviews…). Watching me laddie grow up so fast puts a little moistness in my eyes. Yoshinoya now have a grilled tilapia plate — it’s really good! I expected to be disappointed when I ordered it(as I was with the udon last time) but they did a really good job on the tilapia. They should rename themselves Yoshitilapia.
