Went there with the fam late on Father’s Day. I know it was two hours before you closed but damn the staff was anything from friendly. Even the lady who looked like manager was doing some paperwork at the counter and just kept on glaring over at us like we were from another planet. Food was decent I would have tried dessert but didn’t want to bother with the staff again. Even the kid cleaning up started putting the chairs up early and people would come out and ask, «can we sit out here». Which they also got the blank glare and a hand pointing gesture… weirdos. I thought I was in Fresno or Redding for a second.

I’ve been here once before today and after today I will NOT be going back for the food. I got a corn dog, fries, and a vanilla shake. Let’s start with the food. Corn dog was sooooo greasy I had to wheeze it with 2 napkins to get just some of the grease out to make it edible. Then not only was it greasy but the batter was RAW!!! The french fries were soggy and greasy too! However I’m giving my review 2 stars because the shake was pretty good. Just beware it’s not ice cream it’s custard.

Everything is great here! The hot dogs are so good! Fries and onion rings! Root beer and and cold beer on draft! They also have great frozen custard, you can get it plain or add to a root beer float!

First time visitor. My boyfriend and I got the babe Ruth. I will say I love this place better than Portillos hot dogs in Buena Park and that’s saying a lot. I would def come back and try a different dog. Yum The service was great and although they were packed, they were quick to give us our order.

The spicy chilli is so blah. no taste & u need to add lots of salt for flavor. I also asked for onion on my chili cheese fries & I only got 4 diced onions. Service is just ok. They r not personable at all. One waitress touched someone’s dog & didn’t even wash her hands afterwards.

I just went in to get frozen custard. I was the only customer in there since it’s the middle of the afternoon, and I felt like I was an inconvenience. The guy at the register was not too friendly — not outright rude, just seemed uninterested — and then while he’s taking my money, the manager walks right up and starts talking to him about a new girl who is really short and will need help with some stuff. So he tells her she’s already talked to him about it and agrees that yeah, she is really short. Um…can I not be a part of your employee-manager conversations please? Save that stuff for when customers are not right in front of you. First she interrupts my transaction and then they kept talking about it as he gets my custard and hands it to me. So awkward and unprofessional! I had planned to stay there while I enjoyed my custard but I took it to my car instead because I didn’t want to sit there and listen to the conversation. Two stars since the custard was great, but it’s not worth the atmosphere and experience.

I like the variety of Hot Dog toppings and the rest of the menu looked yummy too. The hot dogs were a nice normal portion… not enormous, which I appreciate. We had the Maui Wauwi Dog topped with Pineapple Salsa and mustard… should not be tasty… but it was! I really like the seasoned french fries too. So I will be back to try more.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my son. If you’re going to eat here with a group, you will need to eat in the patio, as there are only bar stools at the counter for seating inside. Upon first entering, it’s a cute little restaurant. There is a large variety of items on the menu. We ordered 2 chili cheese dogs, a corn dog and some chili cheese tater tots. I had a corn dog. It was just ok. I’ve had better. The hot dogs in my son’s chili cheese dogs weren’t very substantial. The chili is the thing that killed it for us. The chili lacks flavor and was extremely bland.(And I agree with another Unilocaler, the tater tots were not cooked well. They tasted like someone opened up a bag of Ore-ida tater tots and fried them up poorly. They were mush and not crisp at all, even the ones that weren’t covered with chili.) Back to the chili, so here we are with it smothered over 2 hot dogs and an order of tater tots. UGH. Needless to say, we did not finish the tater tots and my son only ate one of his chili cheese dogs. This food is very forgettable. It is something I imagine that one could purchase at a Costco or other store and serve at home and achieve the same results if not better, especially with regards to the chili. It was not expensive, the prices are decent. But I would rather pay a little more for more flavorful, better tasting food. We won’t be coming back. I can take this off my list of places to eat in the OC now.

Was looking for a place to have lunch with my family from out of town(we are from San Diego). The sign said«frozen custard», best burger and custard! Also the customer service was amazing.

Well the food was really good and the fresh root beer was delicious, but the waitress with blond hair and a cross tattoo on her right arm and the tattoo on the back of the neck is SUPERUNFRIENDLY very unwelcoming and quite honestly, let me explain. My girlfriend and I were enjoying the food on the back patio when the blond waitress came out to deliver food to another customer. We overheard her arguing with a customer because she got their order wrong. With an attitude, she explains that she messed up their order and she’s sorry, but she’s still going to make them pay for what they want. Whatever happened to «the customer is always right» If I was that customer I would not be happy to deal with her attitude, nor would I be happy to pay extra because SHE messed up. For a family owned restaurant she is not someone who I would want to represent the business.

First time going to this place yesterday. Went there with my kids. Because I couldn’t decide on which to order I decided to order a few things and their low prices allowed me to do that. I ended up ordering a bacon cheeseburger, corn dog, LA street dog and some tater tots. My kids ordered Mac n cheese hot dog, and the turkey club n more tater tots. Everything we ordered were so good! But if I had to choose, the best one was the Mac n cheese dog. Tater tots were so good we ordered more of it. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back n also recommend this place for some good cheap food.

Although this is a converted Wienerschnitzel, the first thing I noticed was how clean and well kept the place is. Nice job on the renovation! The menu was a bit intimidating because there were a lot a choices. Knowing I wanted a hot dog made it a bit easier. I like cole slaw so I chose the Blue Cheese Slaw Dog. We got Frings, so I didn’t have to decide between fries or onion rings. I also decided to try to root beer on tap. The gentleman taking my order was friendly and helpful(maybe the owner?) and when he handed me the frosty(the whole glass) I knew that this place takes details seriously. The foam on the root beer froze on the edges of the glass. Amazing! The hot dog was great, as were the fries and onion rings. Food was served promptly and the food server was very helpful, as well. Can’t wait to come back!

I have always driven by Joes on my way home. Always passing it and wondering what is the hidden gem kept away in this mysterious lot. Long and behold I finally made my first efforts in giving this place a try and I was definitely not disappointed. We ordered the LA Dog, Mac&Cheese Dog, and the Irish Nachos(keep in mind it’s actually fries). The place has a room to order and a separate room to dine in, making traffic less of a problem. The employees are very friendly and their service goes above and beyond what is expected. Will definitely be coming back here!

I’ve driven by this place for years and have never stopped in to give it a shot… until recently and I’m so happy I did. The chicken sammich I got was perfect. The chicken was not dry in the least bit, the fries are oh so good, and the tea was fresh. I saw someone with a beer, seriously, that was the most refreshing beet I’ve ever seen. It was a little too early for me to accept drinking a beer but don’t think it didn’t cross my mind. Also, the patio is a perfect spot. They keep it clean and you can bring your dog as well.

This location is an old Wienerschnitzel location that has been converted. You can see old traces with the red exterior. Joe Schmoe’s sells hot dogs, hamburger, and custard. This location has a small interior and a large exterior for seating. You order at the counter and you pick it up(like any fast food places). The guy taking our order was very nice and helpful. I decided to try the tater tots, pastrami and the corn dog. I thought that the food was a little disappointing. The tater tots tasted like they just thawed frozen ones. It was definitely not fresh and missing the crunch of fresh tater tots. The pastrami was probably the best item of the 3 things that I ordered. The meat was a pretty decent and I liked all the ingredients in the sandwich. However, I did not like the bread, it got soggy very quickly. I only tried part of the corn dog and I thought it was just average.(However, to be fair, I have never had a corn dog where I thought it was EXCELLENT). Overall, I thought that the food was just OK. It was cheap so that was an added plus. Also, they serve beer here, which was great because it was SOO hot that day and it was nice to cool off with a cold beer. There is ample parking as they are located in a strip mall.

JOE I want SCHMOE food I have seen this place a thousand times and always out the corner of my eye as I was passing by. As fate would have it I FINALLY had the opportunity to try this place. I had seen the reviews and all the pics of the YUMMY foods but was pretty sure I didn’t want a dog or burger but saw a few salads and figured I would see if I could customized one to what I wanted. My kitchen had been commandeered and taped off with HUGE sheets of plastic so using it was OUT of the question. I decided to give JOEY a call and see if I could even get what I wanted. A CHEERY voice on the other end answered with a WARMFRIENDLYHELLO. I asked if they had salads and if I could customize my own and I got a resounding of course from the FRIENDLYVOICE! I ordered a salad with chicken, bacon, and hardboiled egg and red onions no dressing. She asked for my name and number and said my order would be ready in about 10 minutes. SWEET! I get there and find parking right out front. There is ample FREE parking in a HUGE lot attached to Walgreens so you can’t miss it. Plus it’s located right out on the street with a HUGE sign. Even Helen Keller couldn’t miss seeing this sign or restaurant. I walk in and AGAIN I’m greeted with a WARM hello, may I help you. I give my name and say I placed an order for a salad over the phone and she is able to ring me right up. She ask if I want any dressing and mention that the garlic ranch is REALLYGOOD so I ask for it on the side. I figure I can mix it with my aged balsamic vinegar once I get back home and create a new Balsamic Garlic Ranch dressing that would OFCOURSE be DEVINE! The young lady also mentions that she took the Cobb salad and replaced the turkey with chicken and just took off the other ingredients I didn’t want. She said that way if I like it and come back and she is NOT there I can order the same thing and NOT have a problem since they DON’T actually have a chicken salad. SOOOFRICKENAWESOME! Now that is CUSTOMERSERVICE! Once I got back home I grabbed my balsamic and commenced to diving in teeth first! SUPERYUM, YUM, YUMMY! OMG just what the taste buds wanted. Plus is was healthy and void of a ton of caloric salad dressing that would pack on the cals. Just what I was TRYING to avoid! REALLYDELISH! I enjoyed it so much I went back the next day as my kitchen and now most of my downstairs was out of commission. I got the same salad and tacked on a Lego-My-Eggo Sand for lunch the next day. I’ve been back several times can’t bring myself to get anything else. I LOVETHATSALAD! I did try to change it up and got a grilled cheese sand which was OOOEYGOOEY and CHEESEY! SOOOOFRICKENDELISH! I know they have some REALLYYUMMY ruffs, ruffs and I looking forward to trying the mac-n-chees doggie but not just yet! They also do a custard, shakes, chili, grill cheese, burgers and other foods like chicken fingers and even a few beers on tap. There new item is fried cheese curds and they are working on poutine! WHAT, WHAT! GREATMENUVARIETY! This place will keep my taste buds busy for a long while and the AHHHH-MAZING thing is I will be able to compromise with my inner fatty and teach her how to eat a little healthier so she is NOT always hog tied and locked in the closet. Woohoo!

Unilocal challenge 201567⁄365 I think Im in love now In love with Joe Schmoes You know, that place, whats it called Joe Schmoes. And hes going to get me in Trouuuuuuble! I can tell its going to be a late night love affair Starting right now. Located off Ball and Moody in Cypress sits what looks like an ordinary burger shack. The One you’ve passed by, a gazillion times and never stopped. The shack, which doesnt look like as anything Special specializes in hotdogs, burgers, and breads its own corndogs and has frozen treats. Pure comfort food at its finest. And they have salads, man salads, burger in a bowl!!! If you drink, they got your back too. Beer in tap. Offering limited indoor seating and plenty of patio seats perfect for large families. Outdoor heaters will keep you toasted, flat screens will entertain you and digital jukebox will keep you rockin. The bacon cheeseburger, is legit and just maybe the best $ 6.00 burger I’ve ever had. ¼ pound of perfectly ground angus chuck/brisket blend, hand formed and grilled perfectly to a medium well. Topped with crispy bacon, oozy melted american cheese, crisp lettuce, added pickles and grilled onions on a fresh toasted bun. Held the special sauce and pulled off the tomatoe. One bite and I was in love. Two bites, and my mouth was in heaven. A little dry, duh, cuz mine had no sauce. So I squeezed a twinkle of ketchup onto it. It was Only $ 5.35. Best $ 5.35 Ive spent. Washed down with a non refillable mug of icy cold rootbeer off their tap, then some cold water with those perfect pebble like ice cubes. Next time I’ll go for the double… yup a ½ pound. The ¼ pounder satisfied me, but didn’t fill me up. See, Im a big eater. Irish nachos were just okay. Im more of a plain extra crispy sort of fry girl. But these gems, topped with bacon, cheese and sour cream pleased the hubsters. Along with his redneck bacon wrapped, slaw topped dog. He probably could of ate 2 hotdogs, but desert and water topped him off. The Turtle sundae was a perfect way to end everything. Pure happiness with a spoon left me smiling all night. Solid 4 Stars… will have to try again before I commit to a 5 star burger. But this is s love affair in the making. Hubsters, reminded me though, I may not like it so much next time. Review 570

Joe Schmoe is anything but ordinary as the name implies. Hot Dogs are the main attraction here and boy they have a lot of different kinds to choose from. It’s an after school snack for my boy and late late lunch for me. As I walk in, I see a menu board leading up to the door. I took note of what I might like and proceeded in. Once inside, I looked at their menu board above the counter. I didn’t see the items I saw on the menu board outside. I ended up going back outside to make sure the item I was ordering had the ingredients I was craving for.(They didn’t have the specials list inside, only outside, weird) Here’s the rundown: Mac N Cheese Hot Dog«Bacon wrapped dog w/mustard, home made Mac N Cheese, topped w/cheddar cheese & bacon bits» They got me at «Bacon wrapped dog» lol. The only thing I changed was getting mayo instead of mustard. I like mustard, just not on hot dogs for some reason. The verdict: Delicious. Mac N Cheese was good. The toppings were excellent, specially the bacon bits that added some crunch. The bacon wrapped dog, well let’s just say I haven’t had anything bacon wrapped that I didn’t like. This is what I want in a hot dog =) Hand Dipped Corn Dog — The batter they used was very tasty. Just the right amount of batter and the hot dog was super juicy. The hot dog was a bit longer too(or is it just my imagination) All in all, I really like this one. Tater Tots — perfect tots. Crunchy outside and tender inside. A good execution on a staple product. Rootbeer Float — I have to say this was the only disappointment of this meal. I almost didn’t get this one. They gave me my food, but didn’t give me the rootbeer float. As I was reaching for the door, it dawned on me that they didn’t give me my drink yet. I go back and the lady ho-humly said«Oh, here you go» hmmm. When I looked into the cup, I only saw one scoop of ice cream and the container was very small. The taste as you might expect was just so so at best. It definitely needed more ice cream. For the price, I don’t think it’s worth ordering in the future. The place looks very retro inside. They have a patio area which is pretty big. They can handle a crowd that’s for sure. Service was so so. Price was reasonable(except for the rootbeer float, lol) Joe, when it comes to hot dog, you’re no regular Schmoe. I like the hot dogs here and i will definitely be back for more. Try them out for yourself and decide. 2015 Review #17
