I ordered a texmex style salad and it was incredibly disappointing. It looked and tasted like it had come fresh out of a bag and they had put some pita chips on top. The atmosphere was terribly disappointing and cheap. The only saving grace was the carrot cake. It was delicious! I would only recommend coming for dessert.

The best food and friendliest service. My husband and I come here twice a month for dinner. Their home cooking is excellent. The chicken fried steak has amazing flavor. Other favorites are the chicken spinach quiche, chicken and dumplings, SOS, chicken salad sandwich, tomato soup and strawberry cake! Plus it’s BOYB! The waitress always remembers our names and is very personable. If you have kids they get to drink their milk or juice from a ceramic teapot and tea cup! Our daughter loves it!

This is a reply to Linda B. Owner. I am sorry you didn’t see the humor in my remark, that I would have felt discriminated against except another reviewer thought the patty melt was terrible. Obviously the comment(would have felt discriminated against) is key. Not that I did feel discriminated against. Since you asked the other reviewer that thought the patty melt was terrible what date she was there I made sure to include the date in my review. Now you want the time.(Which was about 1PM.) What difference does it make what time or date. If you have more than one cook get all of them into the kitchen and train. I would have preferred you to just say I am sorry and we will correct the problem.

This place is truly to die for. I wish I had enough money to spend to go here for every meal! They servers are sweet and attentive. I truly wish I could get everyone to support this business. Bravo tea room!

Being new to the area I was really looking forward to trying this place. However, the service was really bad. The potatoes salad and chicken salad that a friend had were great but I had a patty melt and it was the worst patty melt I’ve ever had. It’s not very nice at all for the prices. It looked like a grandmas house and charged $ 12 for a sandwich.

One of the best chicken salad sandwiches I have had and the pasta salad is delicious! My Mom order’s off the kids menu where the serving size is just perfect for her. The prices are about the same as grabbing a burger at a sit down restaurant. Being a tea room there are more women than men so take you Mom to lunch where you will both enjoy the quite atmosphere and great conversation can be held without much background noise.

I went to T42 today, for lunch. Menu is good, though I thought it was a tad on the expensive side. I was seated immediately to wait for my friend. There are your regular green salads, tuna and chicken salads, and soups/salads. There are gifts in the front, little home made frocks and other items. I ordered a BLT. Hold the lettuce and put on a slice of American cheese. I asked if this bread would be toasted, for I have had the misfortune of having a BLT on untoasted bread. I was told it would definitely be toasted. The sandwich I got was under-impressive and skimpy. The bread was ordinary store brand bread. Untoasted. The bacon was the precooked, paper thin variety. One thin under ripe tomato. They did remember the cheese. The sandwich was hard to hold, compressed immediately upon handling it due to the cheap bread and the bread was untoasted and flimsy, not flavorful either. I was supposed to have my choice of chips, pasta salad, or potato salad. I was not asked which I preferred. The waitress was nice, attentive. My friend had a Caesar salad. I noticed she only ate half, and she did not comment on it at all. She did say the quiches were good. We had dessert and I enjoyed mine very much, a coconut cake. She had a buttery bread thingy with cream and strawberries. Different, but good. Not too excited about going back but I’ll go if someone else wants to, to try something else. This place has been around a long time. Every table was occupied, it’s a quiet place where you can have lunch, tea, dessert and coffee, and visit with friends but I would feel self conscious laughing loudly as I do with my friends. No one here was talking anything above ‘telling a secret’ voice. It seemed to be a place where one would have a serious conversations, not a happy chatty one.

I’ve been there twice and both times the food has rocked my socks. Both times I’ve eaten the crepes of the day and the chicken tortilla soup. They are flippin’ fantastic. Also, I love chicken salad sandwiches and they have one of the very best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had enough chicken salad to fill Shamu’s tank. I’ve also tried their desserts; one was a gigantic cookie the size of my face and the other was this trio of chocolate ganache balls. They were both delicious! The reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service is a little off. Both my waitresses have kind of acted like they would rather not be waiting on me and my party. Maybe they prefer quiet old women? This place looks like a little old lady’s sitting room, but if that’s not your style, you are just going to have to get past that because the food here is soooo good.

Wasn’t good but wasn’t bad. Slightly suspicious that they use MSG in their food as I’m allergic & got sick after eating there. Service was ok, girl was very nice but not real aware. I had soup & salad & both were mediocre. Portions vs price were disappointing. My coke was flat :-(Overall it just wasn’t impressive. In the ended someone in wind shorts & a t shirt who I guess worked there asked if we were about done because she was ready for us to leave. Don’t think I would ever return.

I have been to this tea room a few times with my family, granddaughters, and tea parties, but my last trip was my LAST. I encountered a large walnut shell in my salad. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she gathered it in a napkin and threw it away and said sorry about that. I could not finish my meal after that. She said she wasn’t able to compensate me for my meal, but her supervisor would be in the next day and she would. I made the mistake of paying for my meal. The supervisor called the next day and would not refund any part of the bill, offering me an extra scoop of salad at my next visit!!! This place needs to learn the concept of keeping customers happy if they plan to stay in business. They have lost my and my family’s business.

Recently had a birthday party here for a 7 year old. It took several attempts to get in contact with anyone to reserve the party. It sounded like a good idea. Tea, dress up clothes, make up and nails. The waitresses were friendly but not engaged with the kids. It was very unorganized. The kids just ended up very rowdy because there was no planning involved. The food was not impressive either. To top it off, the amount paid for this event would not have been worth it for even half the price.

Unfortunately we went to lunch here. No warm greeting when we walked in. Half of space is a grandmother-like kiddy gift shop with other side of tables with odd chairs, dessert case, and awful wall decorations. «Greeter» finally came out with menus and didn’t even offer to get our drink order. Pointless. Server nice but inexperienced. Free starter was a saucer with greasy pita or tortilla chips and a tiny paper cup with some sort of sweet dip in it. Odd. Everything on the menu is over-priced. Yes you get a full plate of food and it is way overpriced for the quality. Salad greens and spinach were past the toss date. «Greek» salad was as genuine as the quiche. Quiche was an oily crust packed with dry, shredded chicken breast and clumps of canned green chilis. There was no eggs, cream, milk, shredded cheese that are the base of every real quiche recipe. The slab of melted cheese on top tasted a little moldy and overwhelmed the dish. Large portions of substandard food and sad service do not make up for the expensive price. Don’t expect an offer to refill on your $ 2.50 glass of iced tea. They seemed insulted that we were not ordering dessert. We paid so much, we packed half in a go home box and threw it away when we got home because we could not revive it or transform it into something edible. In the Cypress area, there are a dozen other local owned places close by where we’ve really enjoyed fabulous food and friendly service for lots less money.

Not impressed. My spinach salad looked good, but something in it tasted on the verge of going bad. Service was slow. Coconut cupcake tasted very processed and frosting tasted canned.

The painted storefront always intrigued me, but I’d never made it in until a girlfriend invited me to lunch there. I was pretty excited that today’s tea was ginger peach — it did not disappoint and was the perfect drink in this sweltering heat. The menu is pretty good for lunch, but the entrees are a little more expensive than I’m used to in Cypress. But you do get a lot of food: I had the trio, and the Caesar salad was overflowing on my plate. My tortilla soup was very nice, but the turkey sandwich was bland. Next time, I’ll try a quiche or just leave the half-sandwich out. We finished by splitting a piece of yummy strawberry cake that would have been obscenely delicious had it been a little warmer. They’re only open from 11 a.m. — 2 p.m., so I think they should bring their cakes out of the fridge at opening time. The cold can kill some of the flavor. This is a refreshing food option in a sea of fast food and chain restaurants.

I’ve been to this place quite a few times now and always leave completely happy. If you are a manly man whose machoness does not allow you to be surrounded by flowery décor – this probably isn’t the place for you. For us males that are secure with our masculinity, this place is great! Your meal starts with these addicting little cheese breads. The menu varies from day to day. I usually aim for the crepes, because they are always a knockout. Today I tried asparagus crepes and loved them. The cream that usually tops their crepes is heavenly. Their soups are also quite something too. I’m not a fan of tortilla soup, but theirs is quite tasty. Quite an accomplishment making a believer out of me. Today I had the chicken enchilada soup. It is a creamy soup – and definitely a must try if you spot it on the menu. Dessert is grand. My favorite is the Strawberry cake. The place itself is usually quiet – even if it’s crowded. I always appreciate this type environment because I find that it is rare. Definitely check this place out if you get a chance!
