I’ve eaten at Holy Smokes many times and the food is consistently delicious! Probably one of my favorites on the menu is the chicken salad. It has such a unique and amazing flavor! I’ve ordered pork by the pound for several parties, and it is always devoured by the guests with rave reviews. We are regular customers and we plan to remain that way. I’m surprised to read some reviews where the meat was dry, because this has never been my experience. This is just one of those great hole in the wall kind of restaurants.

The fried okra was great but my sandwich was tiny and dry. My husband ordered the tacos and said they were awesome but $ 8 for just two tacos and no side is pricey in my opinion. I don’t recommend the kids Mac and cheese plate, it didn’t seem to have any actual cheese or salt and fries were undercooked.

There is a. lot of good barbeque available in the area, however, this is not one of them. Meat is dry like it was .stored before serving.

Holy Smoke this was good bbq. No frills, good sized portions, very tasty… we had ribs; brisket; beans;Brunswick stew. All the food was cooked and flavored just right. I give the food a strong A.

Staff was very friendly, but most of the meat was dry. I ordered pulled pork and beans and it was okay, but I’ve had better. My husband got ribs and brisket and those were better options than the pork.

Just terrible. They are on no particular schedule, and just are open when the mood strikes them. Finally find them open, and wanted to try them because they were so close… HORRIBLE food. Pulled pork tasted like those tubs of bbq meat you can buy in the store. Brunswick stew is cloyingly sweet. Nothing was good. Avoid this place, and drive down 124 to Butch’s for authentic bbq!

Best barbecue I’ve had in the Atlanta region! We’ve been here a few times & the food never disappoints. Restaurant has a small/hometown charm. Love the family dynamics as well!

When it comes to great BBQ, this is not it. Portions s ‘re small and flavor is not Smokey.

Lackluster pulled pork. Ok, but not great sides. Brunswick stew is ok. Sauces are fine. It is not a bad place to bring some kids for a quick meal, but the food doesn’t overcome the venue’s lack of charm. This isn’t a hole in the wall gem of a place. For now, I guess I’ll stick with Jim n Nicks BBQ and deal with the drive when I’m craving some Q.

Hole in the wall fast dine BBQ — for that they’re really excellent. Overall, not the best BBQ in the area(I’m very partial to Southern Smoq) but not the worst by any means. Their portion was HUGE! I was extremely impressed with the size of the sandwich. Their sauces actually beat the Smoq sauces in terms of balancing their meat and the staff was EXTREMELY wonderful — absolutely 5-star service! Great value for the money.

This place is ok. Not really good and not really bad. The BBQ was not anything that made we wanna come back… There is definitely better Q in Gwinnett.

For quick bite to eat this place is ok. Not somewhere I would take guests. The staff are a little slow or just not motivated. They act as though they are doing you a favor. The food is good if you can get consistent pieces of meat. My last trio I had what looked like crumbled leftover pieces of the chicken. Nothing sliced at all. They weigh what they cut and trim to the right ounce serving. Not a good thing in my opinion.

For openers, they’d moved, but not all that far from their old location. Unfortunately, while they’ve been in their new digs for quite a while, the place looks like they just got there… Nothing on the walls and the closest thing to providing any sense of character is the light switch in the men’s room; a Georgia Bulldog at the top and a Georgia Tech bee at the bottom, the legend reading«Georgia turns me on, Georgia Tech turns me off.» Situated at the end of a strip mall, the place is fairly small with seating for maybe 15; order at the counter and then grab a table until your order is delivered. The chicken plate($ 8.29 for all plates), comes with two sides. The bird was served in fairly thick slices and generous portion. Moist, good flavor from the smoke, but not overwhelming. Very good. The two meat plate was $ 10.49, never mind that I had ribs and pulled pork… most add a buck or two when you add ribs as a part of a combo. The ribs were a disappointment, too much salt in the rub… So much so that it tasted through a thick layer of sauce. The pulled pork(pulled and somewhat pulverized) was good, very good. Holy’s fries were better than frozen usually taste, the slaw was maybe average while the Brunswik stew would be judged the B+ category. The Mac & Cheese was as good as most and better than some. Didn’t try the beans or fried okra. Sandwiches come in three sizes and prices, starting at $ 3.59 and topping out at $ 6.49 for the«Uncle Red,» who you have to assume was one of large appetite. They offer two sauces, sweet and vinegar, plus a hot sauce, none of them too much different than what you’d find most everywhere else. The Brown Shoe Gourmet has spent a lifetime in pursuit of the perfect barbecue(dozens of other barbecue reviews on Unilocal), and Holy Smokes Barbecue ain’t it. It’s fairly good, not great, but okay if you’re in the area and needing a ‘cue fix.

It’s hard to pull 5 stars out of me on food and service but this place did. When I first stepped out of my truck I smelled the strong hickory wood burning in the air. At that point my mouth started to water. I then looked on the side of the establishment and saw a big smoker possibly worth anywhere from 20 to 30,000 dollars smoking meat. At this point I’m getting really excited! I go in to order my food which if you’re doing bbq I’m a ribs man. I ordered a half rack of ribs with mac and cheese then went to go get my drink and have a seat. Within 4 minutes my food was sitting on my table as I was in awe at what I was looking at. If you’ve ever watched bbq pitmasters, that’s the exact way the ribs looked. They were so pretty with a fine quality cut of rib. I wish I had taken a picture to show you but I was ready to dig in. Went to pick it up and the meat fell off the bone. I was really impressed with the taste and the tenderness down to the seasoning on the ribs itself. These were ribs that you didn’t need any sauce for but I did try some of their sauce and was impressed with it also. I can’t answer for the rest of the food they serve as I’m not really a pulled pork kind of guy but if you want really good ribs, come over to this place.

My boyfriend, my sister & I tried this place the other night. Honestly, I was disappointed the portions were really small a sandwich was probably the size of a kids meal hamburger. The BBQ wasn’t bad(a mix of sweet & sour) but I didn’t overly fancy it either. I’ll admit I’m really particular about food. They have a good health score rating which is good & the inside was clean & welcoming. My boyfriend & sister however, really liked it she got a sandwich & mac & cheese and he got a BBQ sandwich & Brunswick stew. If you’re going to try this place I suggest you get a size bigger than the regular. I’ll most likely being going back at some point with my BBQ loving boyfriend!
