Well, if you want terrible service, below average food and a hefty bill at the end of it all, go here. I don’t usually write reviews, but this place was so bad that I knew I had to say something. Our group of six started our experience in the bar where we were met by a very friendly bartender and nice bar patrons. The two women next to us were eating dinner at the bar and had both ordered beautiful hamburgers. They looked amazing! One of the women actually said it is one of her top burgers in Dallas. Sold! I knew what I was ordering for dinner. We were seated in maybe the worst table in the joint, but that was the least of our concerns at the end of the night. We were greeted by an aloof, matter-of-fact waiter. This was okay, but the service needed to be perfect to forgive that type of personality. We ordered drinks and listened to specials and reviewed the menu. My husband asked our waiter if we could get the hamburger we had just seen 20 feet away in the bar and he promptly responded no, absolutely not, it’s served in the bar only. Surprised, we said okay. My husband then spoke to the manager.(I failed to get his name but will definitely update this post to reflect it when I find out.). My husband told him that I really wanted that burger and could he make it happen. We even assured the manager that everybody else would be ordering the ridiculously overpriced steaks and we would continue drinking cocktails. He again told us no, It would cause a domino effect in the dining room(this is laughable!) and they would have to serve everybody else burgers. Ridiculous at best. Asinine for sure. My husband again nicely asked if he could please make an exception and the manager told him there was NOTHINGHECOULDDO. Now, remember that this guy claims to be the manager. Of course there’s something you can do… bring me a hamburger! I reminded him of this and he said nope, not gonna happen. I told him right then that I was very disappointed and we would most certainly never be returning to his restaurant. He said that was fine. I’m sure the owners would just love to know that he tells paying customers that it’s just fine that they don’t want to return. Much to our mistake, we stayed and ordered dinner. I stuck with a wedge salad(a C rating at best), while the others ordered sides, steaks and scallops. Our waiter never apologized and never returned to our table to check on our food after it was delivered to the table. I’ve been to countless steakhouses in Dallas and there’s one thing EVERYSINGLE steakhouse does when they deliver your steak. They ask you to please cut into it and make sure it is cooked properly. Not here. Just drop it on the table and leave. The $ 50 steaks were overly fatty, under seasoned and just plain not good. And our waiter was no where to be seen. He didn’t care/mind if we were pleased and satisfied customers. What a waste of money. So here’s the final punch in the gut. The bill arrives and the six of us have managed to rack up a $ 525 dinner. Had we been at Del Frisco’s, Pappa’s, Bob’s, Nick and Sam’s, Al Biernat’s, Jax, Morton’s, The Palm, Eddie V’s or even Dunston’s, this would have been expected and just fine. But after the service we received and the horrible customer service and the low quality food, this was hard to swallow. And then we saw it… a 20% gratuity was added to our bill. AREYOUKIDDINGME? Even despite all the aforementioned awfulness, we would have still tipped our subPar waiter. And probably tipped him more than he deserved, but I was not going to let them dictate how much I was going to give him. NOWHERE on the menu stated it was an automatic add and that industry standard is fading away anyway. We once again asked to speak to the manager and he said that was their policy and he would not make an exception. Of course he wouldn’t. He had proven to be the least customer-centered restaurant manager in the city. Again, I’m sure a quality that his bosses would love to discover. The food was poor, the service was poor and the manager was a fool. Thankfully we were with good friends for the evening. It was the only saving grace.

I so badly want this place to be great but it’s just not. It’s in a prime location downtown and near my apartment. The design of the building is fantastic. You can sit inside in the bar area and watch the city or you can sit outside next to the fire. It’s gorgeous ! The problem is that service is mediocre and it feels like no body really cares. It’s lacking the extra oomph and love that every good restaurant has. I’ll continue to go here for because of its location and decent wine. I just wish it was a great.

This place was bad in a way I can’t really attribute to an off day. I went with a group of 10 people for a lunch on a Thursday. Overall, the service was fine, but no one ever took our drink order. A little odd for a place like that. The food was absolutely below average for that price point. No one at our table liked our food. The burgers were very very bland(think you need to be a little more imaginative with them). My truffle fries were cold/just ok. The salads looked unappetizing and no one was impressed. I was told the steaks were overcooked and not worth half the price. I did like them bringing out the cotton candy at the end of the meal, but I just can’t see the food being that good even on a good day.

Reading the reviews of this place, you’d think it’s horrible. Three stars on Unilocal?Wow, this must be an Olive Garden is disguise. I just ate dinner here. This is how it went: We’re seated and order a bottle of wine. We get a free glass of champagne along with some tasty deviled eggs to hold us over. The wine is delivered and is fine. We order some steaks and some sides. The steaks are huge, cooked to a proper medium rare(hot red interior), and delicious. The sides are tasty. The server is friendly. We get free cotton candy at the end. Perfectly cooked steaks. Tasty sides. Free champagne. Free appetizer. Free dessert. What’s the problem here exactly?

We popped in here before a concert at the Majestic and sat at the bar. The people watching was fun — there was even a dog at the outside bar. Dennis was our bartender and he was great. We were served hot fresh popovers and a deviled egg to start — both were delicious. We shared the crab cakes the beet salad and a side dish with crawfish. All were delicious! Small portions and just right for us. I really liked the crab cakes. We enjoyed our meal and the evening overall!

Exceed my expectations! I hosted a group of 50 people and they executed flawlessly! The staff was attentive and professional taking care of each guest. They helped us pick a wonderful menu to give great variety too. Highlights: the outdoor patio was perfect for cocktails and appetizers before dinner.(The staff even took care of some party crashers with subtle class). The potato soup and Arctic char were outstanding! Con: the cake was a little dry, but I don’t have a sweet tooth, so it didn’t really matter.

D I N E D I V I N E. The project sold. 3 bottles of 2011 Jordan and Bubbles hit the table. Rare Filet, over cooked, but whatever. The company was priceless. Parsnip purée, my favorite. Undercooked asparagus, just how they should be. The crawfish and corn, omg, seriously. Just needed grits. Nom nom nom. Taters, skip. Dessert, coffee, frangelica and cotton candy hit the table, wth cotton candy? Definately not my thing. My Co worker ate an entire one on his own, gross. Service…status…Royalty. My favorite, the décor! Just go in and sit in a wing back, white leather chair with the silver ring on the back. I wanted to put on all lace, red lipstick, smoke a cigar, ash it in the Jimmy Choo hanging off one of my tip toes while the reflection of the other dictated a refill of Ardbeg. And I hate scotch. Lol.

As a non-meat-eater dragged here by a bunch of carnivore friends, there’s not a lot I can say about the food. DC does make an effort to have some non-meat options, but really if you’re going there, you’re going there for steak, which I’m not equipped to rate. What I’m giving the DC four stars for is *service*. They handled our whole group of roudy, underdressed software geeks like we were celebrities. They even split the check 20 ways without complaint. Highly recommended for any large group of conference-goers. Plus, you know, popovers. Yum.

Epic Fail. We went for Dallas’ revered Restaurant Week. Some restaurants place their worst dishes on their special Restaurant Week menu — while others choose to place their very best. It seems as if Dallas Chop House chose to place their worst on the Restaurant menu(for those of us who were temporarily ‘upgrading’ via Restaurant Week discounted menus). The waiter was simply horrible — visibly scoffing at us as we asked questions about the weird menu, and had the gall to order our meat cooked ‘medium’ as opposed to ‘rare’. The cuisine was horrific — but perhaps the regular menu is better, the waiter was snobbish and unhelpful… we left halfway through the second course. I do not reccomend Dallas Chop House — on Restaurant Week or any other.

Friday night reservations. I could not be more happy that this is where we came for resturaunt week. Parking is $ 7 valet, but there is a lot of street parking around too which was free. We were promptly seated once we arrived. The waitress gave us the scoop and we already knew what we wanted. Then she brought out glasses of sparkling wine and blue cheese deviled eggs compliments of the chef. They complimented each other so well. I don’t even like blue cheese, but these were great! We ordered the extra course which was a cheese board and it was delicious. There was duck prosciutto and it was so good. I could go in to detail about each course, but honestly everything was so delicious. Again, this was for RW, so our food and prices were different than usual but oh so good. We are planning on when to go back next time we need a nice dinner out.

Hmmm, uh they have a nice bathroom? They were way understaffed for a Friday at 6PM. It took 10 minutes to get 5 drinks delivered to the patio. Wasn’t really packed either. They also don’t serve non-alcoholic drinks in regular glassware, but rather the same glasses they serve water in. So, I was made to look a fool by ordering a soda and lime and had to explain to my coworkers that I used to be a crippling alcoholic instead of blending in and looking like I was drinking a G&T. The musician that night was massively loud, but I have sensitive ears so take that with a grain of salt. The sliders were free and tasty. I will go back, but the whole experience just seemed lazy and disappointing. The service was something I’d expect from a chain in the burbs.

We were thrown out of the patio because the ignorant hostess could not be made to understand that a service dog can go anywhere its human can. She made such a scene and publicly humiliated us. I was really looking forward having a glass of wine and some appetizers and people watching.

Dallas Chop House was a bit of a disappointment in my books. I was so excited for this place for a couple of reasons. I heard so many people rave about it and the restaurant it was before their fire incident. But I didn’t have quite the experience I was expecting. This restaurant does seem a bit more on the higher end of the apend scale and its a pretty fancy place overall. The food however, was, just alright and the service seemed like there was a new group of staff members. I ordered the Asian Steak Salad and expected a bit more but was utterly disappointed with about 4 – 5 pieces of the marinated steak. The salad wasn’t complex at all, which I think does not match the price of it. Overall, just a 3⁄5.

Dallas chop house sits quietly on Main Street in downtown Dallas proper. On some afternoons the patio bustles at happy hour, and the smell of steak in passageways lured me in on a lone Prufockian late night despite its generic almost cafeteria sensibility and reputation. At 9:30 pm on a Tuesday, atmosphere didn’t play a hand to the one table occupied dining room and two person occupied bar with the workers blandly busy with closing duties. Desperately craving a steak, I dared to eat this peach. The bartender was devoid of much personality, but kept a, if slightly awkward, steakhouse formality despite seeming burnt out. I heard him beckon a popover to be heated, and soon a complimentary boiled egg with blue cheese appeared that was heavenly. The popover was stale and reverberated my solo coffee measuring Sisyphean angst. Situationally perhaps the bartender could have saved the existentialist mood with lighting a bright rapport. Objectively the task at hand was successful — my 10 ounce filet was thick and beautifully cooked, the mashed potatoes however were an uneventful dictionary definition. And what steakhouse doesn’t offer a few different preparations of potatoes like scalloped, instead of the clumsy loaded baked option? The crisis of being requires a little joie de vivre even at the most inopportune of moments, which had no mermaids singing to me in this case. Some might feel comfortable with the ordinariness of Dallas chophouse, like if your on vacation from Waxahachie to visit Dallas for your second time. But for $ 62, which granted is a bit on the bargain side for a steak, side and wine nowadays, I’d opt for a more magical experience. «I have seen them riding seaward, on the waves.»

Who knew Downtown Dallas had gotten so fun? Dallas native here. :) Came here for a YCP happy hour so we got to take over the whole patio. They have $ 5 wine and well drinks plus $ 1 off beer. They also have discounted appetizers — the sliders I totally recommend(yummy meat). The whole staff was very accomodating for us and their patio has a ton of seating. Valet out front and nearby garages. Will be back for dinner next time. :)

Went here for dinner prior to going to a show at the majestic. BIG mistake! Service is HORRIBLE! First drink came out fast second drink took 45 minutes and I was already done with my meal so I rejected it. Got my ticket and low and behold 2nd drink was on my bill spoke to the manager to have it removed that took 20 minutes! Manager apologized and offered a free drink next time I came in BUT… She had no business card to give me to present next time. As to the steak I hade 30 day aged… HORRIBLE! One of the worst $ 65 steaks I have ever eaten! I will not go back and if your giving any thought of going… you might want to find a different venue!

Admittedly, I didn’t expect to be blown away by a chop house, and wasn’t encouraged when I saw the place was mostly empty. But the service and décor leaned more towards«elegant fine dining» than«taxidermy trophy room» or «executive board room» found in most steak houses. The bar was appropriately separated, glassed in, and has great views of the city streets outside. As is the benefit of going with a group, we sampled a large portion of the menu, and It was nice to find a steak house that paid as much attention to their soups and sides as the entrees– I was equally impressed with the autumn squash soup and wild mushrooms as the steaks. Parking– for safety reasons, I would recommend the valet if going after dark, but meter parking is also available

This review is purely in the context of a special event hosted by the Dallas Chop House. I was invited to a Scotch and cigar party at the Dallas Chop House. How can you not go to that? Before the event, we spent time outside on the patio, enjoying drinks and people watching. The patio was wonderful, but could be improved with the addition of fans for hot Dallas summer evenings. Getting the wait staff’s attention was sometimes hit-or-miss, but there was a large crowd there so that could have been the issue. Everyone who waited on us was pleasant and helpful. Our tasting was held in the«library» — the room was wonderfully private and close to the restrooms. It would be a great space to hold a private dinner for a group of 30 – 50 people. The appetizers(provided by DCH) were yummy — I especially enjoyed the Scotch egg. Those are hard to do properly, so I was impressed. We’re planning to head back for a full meal before too long, but DCH impressed me with their service and food quality.
