Ugh, I hate that I love this place so much! And I’m a little bit embarrassed to be writing a five star review for donut place as a dietitian, but I can’t help myself! I started stopping there every now and then after a nice morning jog… which has now turned into about 2+ times a week. I am pretty sure that completely defeats the purpose of running, but oh well! I have yet to have a donut that hasn’t been completely amazing. Our family favorites are the sour cream, blueberry and anything with chocolate. Don’t expect just donuts here either, Jane will greet you with a smile, super friendly service and you might walk out with a few extra donut holes as well.

Great variety of choices and all tasty, I got breakfast for the office and the lady behind the counter set me up and she was so nice!

Ohhhh, Donut Palace. I used to stop by here at least 3 times a week on the way to Richardson High School. My dad lives right up the road, so I’d first hit Donut Palace then the Starbucks across the way. Everything I’ve ever had from here was delicious. But that was 10 years ago. Recently, my dad and I headed up to Iowa for a funeral. And we drove. I am a planner, and I had our morning planned out: stop at the donut shop by me, get ice at the Walgreens, hit the road. Well, dad forgot something at his house, so we had to come back to this neck of the woods. Thank god. Because that meant we got to stop at Donut Palace. We got there around 6am on a Friday morning and everything was still hot from being fresh out of the fryer. DELICIOUS. I got us a dozen sausage rolls to share. This way, we wouldn’t have to stop for snacks at all, and possibly even skip lunch. I also had to get myself a couple of fresh(still warm!) cinnamon sugar cake donuts. When I bit into that first cake donut before I even got back to the car, the angels sang. It was amazing. Before we left the 7−11/Shell station next door, we both tore into the kolaches. These were also still hot from the oven and hadn’t been re-heated in the microwave. And they were phenomenal. I get that most donut shops sausage rolls/kolaches are similar, but these have always been most excellent. We each ate a couple of the kolaches and some of the free donut holes the super nice lady threw in. In my 15+ years of stopping in this donut shop, everyone has been super sweet. The donuts have been amazing. Oh, and we did eat the rest of the kolaches between here and Iowa. They were even good cold, 5.5 hours later when we hit Missouri. If you’re in need of donuts and you’re in the Coit/Beltline area, stop at Donut Palace. You’re welcome.
