I’m in this bar in Dallas. Eleven customers. They serve food. One owner, two employees. All yelling at each other, carrying around a platter of food nobody seems to have ordered. Prime Gordon Ramsey candidate. Fun to watch. I had to walk into the kitchen to get someone to tab me out. Then they couldn’t find my card. This place is glorious.

I love the food, the bbq, and the potato salad are great. I think that the decoration is awesome because they have a lot of cool guitars hanging from the walls. They have a great juke box and I love it because it has lots of metal tunes. The service is friendly. Check it out.

Food is good, ambiance is horrible! Service is ok but I’ve been there 3 times. The first time they were out of food and closed by basically throwing everyone out. I chalked it up to being new and tried again. This time they were playing music so loud we couldn’t talk or hear people at the same table. And the worst part was they play one band/group continually for what feels like eternity. I’m only giving 2 stars because the food is good and they are open late. Next time I’ll just get it to go.

THEWORSTEXPERIENCEEVER! My friend came in town and I raved about how great Deep Ellum was. We went to EZ Dude for a drink. My friend went to use their public restroom and walked in on the owner by accident. He literally chased my friend out of the bar screaming profanities at him like a wild beast. My fault maybe for taking him to this racist establishment. Oh, did I mention my friend is an African American? Being the true gentleman he is, my friend let this psycho scream at him while he politely walked away. He didn’t want to address this issue any further, but I can’t simply stand by. It was a humiliating and eye opening experience. You should be ashamed EZ Dude!

To summarize my experience, I will say I walked out feeling like I had wasted a perfectly good meal out and wished I could have a do over somewhere else. It really tasted like they took every culinary shortcut possible. canned, frozen, and pre cooked. Pro’s –neat location –cheap/good drinks –fairly friendly service Con’s –some of the worst bbq I have ever had! –a member of the kitchen team(I am assuming) walked out of a stall when I was in the restroom without washing his hands and walked straight into the kitchen. It is an open kitchen and made me not want to even eat. I say«I assume» because no one has any sort of uniform or anything indicating they are employees but he did go back to work in the kitchen. –Truly didn’t seem like any one knew what was going on. For being 2 of 6 people in the whole place it took a painstakingly long time to get what should be considered a simple meal at a BBQ place. –about 5 minutes after our order was taken they came to let us know they were out of okra:(

There are few places with the kind of character you’ll find here. While I do enjoy the occasional fine dining, some of the best things in life are simple. It’s dim inside with Voyager and Flying V’s stamped along the walls. An autographed Ozzfest poster hangs above a booth and a few cheap beers can be seen on tap. In the back there’s a small stage next to the kitchen and a huge projector so you can watch larger than life programs while buzzed. EZ Dude is a refuge for your hungry inner rockstar. The food reminds me of backyard BBQ: paper plates with whatever kind of mess you can fit on it and some tasty BBQ sauce. It’s not meant to be fancy or carried out like some sort of art. The potato salad and coleslaw are very traditionally made. The fried okra was hard but the corn had an elote flair that made it the best side there! The hot links were the only things I could eat plain, while the pulled pork and chopped brisket needed some of that sweet but spicy kickin’ sauce. The $ 3.33 appetizer had a fried rib with bits of crispy meat and I assume the wing was supposed to be buffalo but not buffalo enough. It’s definitely more bar than BBQ here, far from touching what’s a block away and more like eats I’d find at a friend’s weekend cookout… except I had to pay for it. The vibe here though is just my style so I give it a four as a bar, laid back and easy going. You do need something to munch on while drinking a beer though, why not have some meat with it?

Great bbq! They just opened but I predict in a month it will be busy. Both the sliced brisket and the ribs were tender and tasty. The sauce was good but the meat didn’t even need it. Sides: slaw was my «healthy» option but the corn was elotes type corn and was so very good. Go try this place out. The owner Rob and his wife were very personable and wait staff was friendly.
