Can’t sit on he ground ok cool. People are allowed to smoke weed? Not cool, go out of your way to talk to someone that isn’t within 20 feet of anyone. You can’t go through your crowd and do your job that last five hours. It only gets 3 stars cause they have decent people for ok price.

Love this place. This place is not overly expensive but it is impressive. Sound is great, service is great, parking is FREE. I look forward to attending more shows at this venue.

This is a great live music venue that excels in sound, lights and video — the things that generally make live music into great shows to me. I’m surprised at the amount of negative reviews on here. There have been some amazing acts come through Gas Monkey Live in its first years. Many of the acts are bands that one would usually have to see in venues two or three times the size. Sure, it may not be the cheapest place to go have beers with your buddies, and you may have to wait a few minutes at the bar to get one. But the Gas Monkey Bar & Grill is great for that and food too. GML is a concert venue and some things are just not going to be as convenient or economical as a restaurant /bar would be. We had VIP tix to Jane’s Addiction and I recommend going that route if you can. VIP doesn’t mean front row, but i don’t know any venues that it does. The VIP section is off to the side but elevated, giving an excellent view of the stage. We had no trouble getting service at the VIP area bar(s) either. Laura, one of the managers, took the time to see how we liked the show and even guided us to a better vantage point when my wive felt she needed a better view of Dave Navarro. If you read other reviews, take into consideration that this is a music venue first, bar second. I’m not sure where some of the reviewers typically see major bands play live but when I think of VerizonTheater, Smirnoff, HOB, Kessler, Majestic, AA Arena, etc., etc., I believe Gas Monkey Live outshines them all in sound, lights and video and still keeps a relatively intimate atmosphere. I’d like to hear which one(s) of these venues offered cheap drinks, stellar service and a VIP section right at the stage. I haven’t seen it and the show quality at Gas Monkey Live is technically superior to many of these other great venues. Bottom line — if you want to see a great show, well presented– don’t hesitate to enjoy it at gas monkey live. If you are looking for great food, cheap drinks and quick personal service, you should probably find a smaller bar to spend the evening. I know I’ll be back for several upcoming shows.

Our favorite band was scheduled to play at Gas Monkey Bar n Grill. We reserved a VIP table, and start making plans to drive there. We live in tennessee, so it requires planning to drive to dallas. We reserved a hotel down the road, and paid in advance. We start driving toward texas, and the flooding starts. The band tweets that the show has been moved across the street to Gas Monkey Live. I think this is a wonderful idea. No soaking outside while hearing my kids complain about wanting to go back to the hotel. I start looking at reviews and think, there’s no way it can be that bad. The reviews I had read about the bar n grill were good, and this is a product of the bar, right? Surely, it must be a disgruntled employee. I was WRONG. completely. wrong. We get there, and the VIP tables are shoved in a corner away from the stage. Everyone else stands in between the tables and the stage. Who wants to pay $ 175 to look at the back of a bunch of standing fans? The very limited food selection is worse than anything 7 eleven makes at 6 am and sells at 4:30 in the afternoon. And you will pay an arm and a leg for it. Let’s talk about paying an arm and a leg… we ordered two buds. Our server tells us that it is a 12 Oz CAN, and that it is S-E-V-E-N dollars. Excuse me? What? $ 7? Mixed drinks are 9, and they are small, but I was expecting to pay quite a bit for mixed drinks. The original show was supposed to start at 7, or maybe 8, I can’t remember. When they moved the venue, the show was pushed back to 9:30 for the opening act, and 10:30 for the headliner. They were only allowed to play until midnight. I loaded my family up, and drove 10 hours to see an hour show, eat some crappy gas station food, and pay for Gas Monkey Live to buy their stock of beer for the next month by ordering a few beers. Never again will I make a trip to visit the joke of a venue. Don’t waste your money. I never will, again. I just wish I had taken the reviews seriously. The ONLY reason this place gets two stars, is because our server did her job.

Went to the sold out Jane’s Addiction show. Had a really great time… The bars were packed, but the wait to get a drink was not unreasonable. The drink prices are what I expect to pay at a venue like this… I would like to give major props to the security team. They had a few stupid incidents and handled them swiftly… I also would like to give a big thanks to Laura, who helped us get to a good spot close to the stage! That was really cool if her to do that!

Not a totally bad venue, if you’re close to the stage. If you’re any more than 25% back, forget about seeing anything. The floor is completely flat without any incline, with no balcony or mezzanine for extra viewing spots. I was standing at the barricade for the beginning of the show. I had went back to try and use the bathroom… and forget it. The sold out crowd left NO space for a walkway, to or from. This is extremely unsafe! If there is a fire or you need to evacuate the building, you’ll get nowhere fast. They need better security!

Very long and narrow venue. The sound was ok, but you have to stand so far back you can’t see the band. The stage seemed too low as well. There are two screens on either side of the stage — we wound up watching the show on those. The bar service is VERY slow and beers are $ 9 each. I hope these bands figure this out and go to better places when they come to Dallas. I like the car show though…

We purchased 75.00VIP tickets for a table for 4 at the Clutch show and got standing room only with no tables for $ 300. This place sucks just like that douchebag Richard Sucks. Music sound system lacks lows and they are running a scam by selling seats that don’t exist.

Never have we been so disappointed in a venue. I want a refund. 70% of the reason we came out tonight was to see COC. We arrived early, only to be greeted with a line that snaked around the building. We waited almost an hour and only listened to 2 songs of their set. We don’t mind waiting in line. That was not the issue. The issue was why was the concert started when you still had upwards of 500 people waiting outside? Why was there only ONE door open to check IDs, security and scan tickets? You pre-sold nearly 2000 tickets… So you knew we were all coming! This lack of organization ruined what we hoped was going to be a great concert. WAKEUPGASMONKEY! It’s time to make this right!

Well I still think this place os wonderful. But when you buy VIP table and they have no entrance for you that is crap. Instead we stood in a line that was wrapped around the building for over 1 hour because Not enough people to check IDs. So we Finally made it to the table for COC last song. REALLY? So that needs to be changed. ALSO for mid week concerts coffee is a must. I will re think this venue in the future and probably pass on mid week shows as a result. Sorry GML but you slipped in the service levels this time.

The service is terrible. I bought a ticket. They didn’t have it at the box office and told me that was my problem. When I asked for help the attendant told me the manager was«too busy» to help. Worthless… You’d think they’d be more helpful after bad press. Authorities just found a dead child behind this place

If you want to see a circus show come here. Long lines for entry, unorganized, no AC, long bar lines, no toilet paper. The list goes on and on. These people do not deliver providing a good concert going experience, although the the stage and music is excellent. Very frustrating. Needs to be run better!

I find it interesting reading the negative reviews on Gas Monkey Live, but some of them likely were driven by the type of talent playing, and therefor the crowds attracted. We just saw Los Lobos at Gas Monkey Live, and our first experience was great. I knew via reading details on the GML website(a) where they were(not at the main Gas Monkey Bar and Grill), and that the main body of the floor is SRO. Not real hard in other words to know what to expect. I thought the venue was clean, acoustically sound and easy to wander around in. And having parking right outside was pretty nice after the band wrapped their set. We had pretty intimate access to the main stage from the floor — as close as we wanted to get anyway. Wait staff were all exemplary in their courtesy, and pricing wasn’t outrageous for anything we had. Our food was typical bar food, but it was hot, fresh and not overly greasy. It is, after all, in the Loop 12/I-35 yoke and within sight of the Dallas skyline — pretty much every venue there is an eatery of some kind, and few of those are cheap. For the non-smokers, the interior is great as it is smoke free(aside from theatrical smoke when a band is onstage.) A huge plus for us. We ventured(briefly) onto the outdoor patio and scurried right back in when the clouds of cigarette smoke hit us. I agree with some of the other Unilocalers here; the extra $ 10 for the VIP cattle assembly area looks like it was likely not worth the dough. Anyone height challenged will have a tough time seeing the stage when the crowd all surges to the front of the railing facing the stage. The VIP seating looked to be a worse deal. on the night we went, a table for four was $ 300(so $ 75/seat.) the lines of sight from the seating area were pretty far to stage-left, so for that kind of coin, it really didn’t feel like that great a deal. The one recommendation I’d make to the GML folks is to put some kind of obvious signage at the turn-in for the GM Bar and Grill, pointing folks to head down Technology to GML. We missed it the first time, and when we asked the maitre d’ about location at the Bar and Grill entrance we were told«it’s just across the street.» Um — no. It’s across the street and down about another 500 yards. For ladies walking in heels on uneven ground, that’s a BIG difference. I think some of the harsher ratings here were less about the venue, and more about either the acts in questions, or an unfair comparison of GML to other DFW venues. GML is its own entity, and will(over time I suspect) massage out some of the wrinkles they’ve had. In other words, it ain’t that bad, folks. We are big live music fans, and would definitely return to GML to catch acts in the future — we’ll just assure we wear comfy shoes for the outing.

I thought it was pretty good for a standard music hall. Acoustics were good and no view in the place was absolutely terrible. I liked the location better then going downtown, parking was so much easier. I also thought it was cleaner then a lot of options, although we didn’t use the bathrooms so I can’t speak on that. We paid for VIP and really glad we did. The view was good from being elevated a little and it was nice to have our own bar and luckily water was free. Other drinks were expensive as expected at most music venues, but it was a bigger pain. I am glad we did not pay for the tables as they were quite a bit more expensive and the view was terrible from that area. The other bars definitely did not have enough staff and we saw people waiting a very long time for drinks. My other complaint probably wasn’t the venues fault and more the concert but they definitely drew out the time between bands. I also wish there was more seating but I wish that of a lot of music venues, its nice to have a break, but the biggest option was the patio which was awful if you don’t smoke. I will probably come back, but its not my first choice.

My husband was drinking PBR tall boys. Price on the menu on the bar was listed as $ 6 each. Apparently, when the headlining band takes the stage, prices go up on drinks — were told this by a bartender. A canned PBR during the headliner was $ 7.50 each. Never in my life have a been to a place with price increases mid-concert. My diet coke was $ 4.00. Beware especially if you open a tab; I’d pay cash just so you know what they are actually charging you since it seems to be arbitrary.

I love this place, I’ve come here twice now both to be in fashion shows and he atmosphere here is electric. The underground art scene is thriving with love and energy. It’s one of those things you would have to come experience for yourself. They host a slew of events here but the RAW Dallas events are legit and bring out the craziest and most unique people. Models, make up artists, and all in between. I know they serve drinks here and that they’re good for concerts, the extension down the street has a bar and a sports grill with live concerts outside. If you want to go out and have a good time in a decent environment I would recommend checking out this place!!!

Came to see Dwight Yoakam in concert and the Music is extremely loud for that small place. They should turn it down a bit to make it more enjoyable To sit at a table with chairs was $ 400…EFF that, I was smart like the rest of the crowd and stood They serve only bar food, totally understandable but our burgers and buns were very over cooked and dry. bartenders were very friendly but very cheap on making drinks, every time I ordered a drink they’d jip me on the shots

What a crap hole, not in the traditional way one thinks of a crap hole but in the overpriced, poor service, pompous, self inflated owner managed type of crap hole. We paid for VIP tickets to see Dwight Yoakam at a recent show. We were told the VIP section had some limited seating, its own restroom and bar. What were were NOT told is that this section holds 70 +/-people, the private restroom was actually only ONE toilet for both men and women and at no point during the evening was it cleaned. The bar for this section consist of a small bar with one bartender servicing the crowd. The seating was a small L shaped sectional that holds 6 to 8 people depending on their size. The rest of us were left to stand in this overpriced area much like people in the main area of the Gas Monkey. It appears as though the VIP section was at one time the area reserved for people with mobility challenges. The only way into the VIP section is by ramp, and the one toilet is ADA compliant. The only problem is that it has been turned into a VIP section and three people with mobility issues, 2 in wheelchairs and 1 little person, could not see a thing. I’m not sure how they can legally get away with this, it was horrible to watch. The food service was ridiculously slow and when our food arrived it was super greasy, the french fries tasted like they had been fried in grease that was used to fry food other than fries. Multiple people around me were upset about the slow food service and disregard to overall customer service. To add insult to injury one of the owners came out on stage to make a few announcements about the show and Gas Monkey Tequila. He was either too drunk or too stupid to realize he was embarrassing himself and it was evident why this place was lacking. The staff was hardworking and the best part of this place. If you have to attend an event here you should eat before you go, arrive early so you can grab one of the very few seats in the VIP section or wear comfortable standing shoes, expect to pay 9 to 10 bucks per drink plus tip. If you can avoid this place I recommend it. It’s not that this place is bad its just that your money will be better spent at a more traditional concert venue or a place like the House of Blues.

The Venue is beautiful. My daughter and I. Visited for the first time last night for the Monsters of Mock show. Ample parking — no valet, which is odd. The guys at the door were really fast checking everyone in. Last night’s show was great. My only critique was the line-up schedule. Firstly World’s Apart only played for half hour :( Secondly: Def Legend should never again play in between Kill em All and Guns4Roses, they simply don’t have the energy. The lead singer for Walk this way seemed insecure and wasn’t able to channel his inner Steven Tyler, he never once played to the females in the crowd and seemed to hide behind his band mates a lot. Very disappointing since Aerosmith is one of my all time favorite bands. I mean if you’re gonna be Steven fckin Tyler you better be flamboyant.
