LOVE this place. If it’s a stay in night Lovers Egg Roll is always a go to… with a glass of wine. My favorite item from their menu is the flat spicy noodles.

First time I had food delivered from here I got super sick(flu), so I’ve never had the utmost affinity for this place after that. However, this is not the worst of Chinese food, nor is it the best. Just run of the mill Chinese delivery… Mongolian beef: asked for extra spicy, received Caucasian spicy… Now, I’ve had a lot of Mongolian beef in my time, and this is definitely below par. Kung pao chicken: came with a solid top layer of peanuts, but it had plenty of meat. Definitely tasted better than the Mongolian beef. Crab rangoons: good stuff! Can’t really mess this up right? Overall: I’ve found Wang’s and now this place will not see my business, not because this place is horrible, but because Wang’s is WAY tastier and they also deliver!

*****3 ½ STARS***** I like Lover’s Egg Roll. I liked it better when it was actually ON Lover’s, but this location is also good. If you want hot, freshly cooked Chinese, this is the place! All food made to order. Good luck finding a seat, but you can take-out as well!

For the price, prompt service, and taste, Lover’s stays in my Chinese food rotation quite a bit. Lover’s isn’t an absolute dive, nor is it a fancy Asian/Chinese food restaurant. If you dine in, be prepared to smell a bit like the food. I would opt for carry-out. The pork lo-mein, spring rolls with peanut sauce and spicy basil chicken with fried rice are my three favorite items. The spicy basil is delicious, but can sometimes be very spicy. Overall, good, inexpensive carry-out/delivery Chinese.

Another Chinese food bust. I decided to drop by here for a quick lunch since it’s not too far from my office. I read the reviews, but I decided to make my own opinion. I ordered the sweet & sour pork with fried rice and an appetizer of crab rangoon. The crab rangoon was fresh, but there wasn’t much crab in there. However, overall, I thought it wasn’t too bad as far as crab rangoon goes. I got my sweet & sour pork and fried rice, but it was not too great. The pork had a lot of grisle – not a good thing! Also, the fried rice was, well, kind of hard. It was like they took some left over fried rice(good, fresh fried rice!) and then put it in the fridge. Then the next day they warmed it up for lunch. It was extremely dry and tasteless. I would pass on this one.

Do you like greasy Chinese takeout? Are you cheap? Then hey, Lover’s Egg Roll might just be right up your alley! While the food isn’t my favorite, it’s still decent takeout and I’ve been eating her for years. If you’re dining in, they surprisingly serve their food on glassware rather than on plastic plates. Nice touch! Although I will say the décor is very 1995 Panda Express. I’m not complaining but certainly nothing fancy. The prices are very reasonable and their service is very fast. I’ve always dined in or picked up my order so I can’t give an opinion on their delivery service. Bottom line: If you want decent takeout Chinese for a cheap price, it’s a good option.

Given that it is near my new apartment and that I know that I occasionally have inexplicable urges to eat cheap Chinese food, I really wanted to like this place. There was an odd, yet indescribable smell as I entered, which really should have tipped me off. I ordered my standard cheap Chinese dish(Sesame Chicken) and was utterly disappointed. There was barely any meat in my dish and it lacked the flavor that I’m used to. The fried rice that accompanied it was also very bland. The restaurant itself looks nicer on the inside than on the outside. It’s nothing fancy, but a comfortable place to sit and read the paper on a weekend as you eat. Too bad the food wasn’t more enjoyable.

Tried one of the specials. Damn good value. $ 7.50 for a huge serving of the chicken/beef item, lots of rice, an egg roll(which is smaller than one would expect) and a drink. Service was quick, and the price is okay. I passed by this place a couple of times, but the faded sign and pitch black tint made me not want to enter. I must say it’s very clean and has more than enough seating. There’s a TV with cable news going, and the volume is high enough to be heard, and low enough to not be distracting(which is quite rare for places that have TVs with audio).

This is my default place when I want to get some take-out. It’s very Americanized Chinese but I like that. I’m also not that adventurous with my orders. I think they track our orders by phone number because they suggested House Fried Rice(boring, I know…) when I called one time. I usually get the aforementioned House(Combo) Fried Rice/Lo Mein or Kung Pao Chicken. It’s good, it’s filling. I can have leftovers for lunch the next day. Their portions(based on the size of the styrofoam containers) seem smaller than before but that’s a good thing. And the portions are still huge! Crab Rangoon is on my list too but it seems to be less crab and more cream cheese than before. Still good. And the thing about Chinese places is that Kung Pao Chicken, for example, is a little bit different at each place. I’m used to this Kung Pao so I’m sticking with it. Not fancy, not gourmet but easy and good enough. Like Scott L., I find it a little odd that all of the employees are Hispanic but whatever.

Is it wrong that it bothers me that the whole staff here was Mexican? I’ll have fried rice with fajita meat! This place was renovated it seems like 6 months ago, and it’s already reminding me of a shabby Chinese place that was near my dorm in college. This place serves big portions but food was boring.

Maybe I just caught them on an off day today but all but the dumplings were below average, even for Americanese. — Wonton Soup: salty, which is a plus for me, but oddly greasy. Also it reminds me too much of beef Top Ramen(I hate Top Ramen, I am a Maruchan kind of girl.) The dumplings have been in it a little too long or the skin is too thin so it is melted and odd. — Moo Shi Vegetable, add fried tofu: I was happy they listened to my request, but this whole dish tasted a bit too canned. I know most Americanized Chinese restaurants use canned water chestnuts and baby corn, but this tasted too straight out of the can. The pancakes that went with were the same as anywhere else. Also I wish it came with more pancakes or a side of rice. — Chicken Egg roll: Not greasy, which is nice, but a little odd. Its fillings and the filling sizes reminded me more of a taquito than an egg roll, but it wasn’t bad. — Steamed Pork Dumplings: These were great. I have been spoiled by NYC Chinatown dumplings, both their price and their quality, but these were great, particularly with their sauce(I added extra soy sauce and dark rice wine vinegar to this.) Next time I will go just for dumplings, though I might try something else since I think I chose badly today.

interesting place if you drive past or go in. But what I really like is they DELIVER! now for those of you that don’t know I love New Orleans and the Quarter is best described as a hotel with interesting room service(OKOK I am a foody). Well this place is making me believe that Oaklawn ans Uptown are fast approaching the same description. GREAT food delivered to your door and SO reasonable! I have appetizers through chicken, pork, beef and seafood dishes and all are great. All have great flavor and are very satisfying. The portion sizes are more than large enough to make me happy! Ordered here tonite as I wanted Asian and didn’t want to drive(happy hour at my fave place…). Recommend this place to everyone.

Lovers Egg Roll is on my speed dial :) Ok I am kidding, but they are definitely saved in my phone somewhere. First of all their name I think has some deeper meaning. Is it insinuating one’s desire for egg roll’s, hence oriental food? But then why is an egg roll not part of every dish they serve? Maybe it means something else. Mabe… Egg Roll in their name is supposed to give us a visual clue of an Oriental place, but its really a roll-up of various oriental flavors we have all come to love… such as Thai Food, Korean Food, Japanese Food, and Chinese Food. And guess what? You can find it all here all under one roof. Is it coincidental? Or maybe I have just gone mad :)

Came with a group for lunch… definitely an Americanized-Asian place, but mine wasn’t bad… and very fast at lunch despite the line. First — just LOVE the name… Lovers Egg Roll. Probably started out on Lovers Lane, but now it just sounds fun… egg rolls for lovers — hehehe. Reminds me of the Lady and the Tramp… instead of spaghetti, they join in the middle of an egg roll. I ordered the basil fried rice with shrimp — HOT! but tasty. Really can’t go wrong with anything basil. Friend with mushroom chicken — was good, but Hunan Express’ is much better. Another friend with pad thai — meh! not that good, though she thought it was OK. And the fourth had regular chinese fried rice — it was acceptable. Mine was by far the best of the lot, IMO. Will I be back? If this is what the group wants, I’ll come. But defintely not going out of my way for it. Lovers Egg Roll — sounds like a 1950s Chinese place — the name is the best part

Everytime they have an excuse for delivery problem. The last time, the guy was across the street on the other building which is residential, when I specifically mentioned I was at an OFFICE building. Last night I waited 90 mins for delivery, and I got some bogus excuse about having the wrong phone number. The person on the phone isn’t very helpful and is not good at her job, she sounded rude and impatient

I have avoided Lover’s since my last review, but I decided to give it a try again one evening recently out of sheer desperation. I must say this time was a pretty good experience. Delivery was very fast — food was nice and hot. I ordered the vegetarian steam dumplings, which had a delicate flavor, filled with minced veggies. I also ordered the mushroom chicken, which was very tasty– white meat chicken in a brown sauce, lots of big fresh mushrooms. Finally I had the Thai-style spicy flat noodles with beef. These are not spicy at all, but a good flavor — beef was done nicely and not too chewy. They were more greasy than I would have liked, but that didnt stop me from enjoying them. Lover’s Egg Roll has earned its place back on my take-out/delivery list.

It’s no gourmet Chinese restaurant, but it’s better than your average Americanized Chinese place or delivery place. The food here is always fresh – they make it in the back after you order it. It’s also reasonably priced and not as sauce heavy as you tend to find in other standard Chinese places. Our favorites are the curries, the pad thai(certainly not traditional style, but an interesting and fresh take – very lemony) and the crab rangoons(these are the kind that cater to cream cheese lovers, mmm mmm). It’s a pretty decent place to go if you live nearby, and a solid pick for delivery.
