Just incredible. I don’t know what I can add that other reviews haven’t already covered. The care that goes into this food is so apparent. Fried green tomatoes with a crisp cornmeal coating are perfect. Fried pickles — I have never liked a fried pickle and kept sneaking them out of my husband’s basket. Étouffée was absolute heaven. My lips burned and I couldn’t stop eating it! I can’t wait to go back! Hush puppies are large, crispy and a bit sweet. Amazing with the étouffée. I’d rather have this than pappadeaux any day. Closed on Sunday.

All in all a good place. As a native of Louisiana I’m harsh on «Cajun» places here in Texas. But this place was good! Had the blackened fish with dirty rice and green beans. Not too pricey and full of flavor. I prefer my fish blackened with butter rather than the oil they used and I also would’ve preferred catfish rather than the whitefish they served but still it was good. Will definitely be one of my go to lunch spots in the future!

The fries makes me come back for more. You can taste freshness in their shrimp and fish. Going to be stopping by here more frequently for lunch.

We ordered the seafood platter(with mac n cheese and dirty rice) and the lemon pepper wings with fries. Absolutely nothing spectacular about our meals. The dirty rice tastes like it came from a box. Highly unlikely that I will return.

Great Cajun food. Crawfish and shrimp étouffée is amazing. The fried okra can be a little greasy at the bottom of the pile, but it’s absolutely delicious. I have ordered dine-in, to-go, and delivery. The food always comes super hot(temperature hot, not spicy hot). That’s not to say their food lacks spice, though. They expanded from being just a counter with a tiny eating area to being a full seating restaurant that can seat around 40 people. Still order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The portions are great. The prices are great. And the food is great.

Four stars overall… Five stars for the food. My review would be exactly as Jared M. Posted, this place is a true find. I think they should be on Diners, Dive ins and Dives. I’ll be back soon and often, several things on the menu I need to try.

I just ate the shrimp étouffée here. Amazing. It was spiced perfectly – had that wonderful kick but in no way overpowered any of the senses. Just the right amount of rice as well. Also, so much shrimp! Finally a Cajun place that includes enough shrimp to have at least one in every bite. I highly recommend. One of the best(if not THE best) étouffées in the metroplex.

I found this place online yesterday and decided to give them a try. I love Creole/Cajun food and it’s hard finding a place that knows how to make a good gumbo. I usually make my own or visit my family in Houston when I have a craving. When I walked in I was greeted by a nice young lady who answered all of my questions regarding their menu. I decided to get two cups of gumbo, blackened fish, blackened shrimp, fried okra, dirty rice, beignets, sweet potato bread pudding and sweet potato pie. My husband said his fish and shrimp were seasoned nice, the okra was cooked nice but unfortunately the dirty rice was dry and the gumbo was not good at all. The roux was not good at all and in order for the gumbo to be good you have to start with a good roux. I counted two salad shrimps and four slices of sausage in my gumbo. I saw a piece of shredded chicken in there but that’s all. I ate two bites of my gumbo and threw the rest in the trash. My husband tried my gumbo and didn’t even bother eating his bowl. Maybe they changed the size of the shrimp in their gumbo because they no longer use the shrimp that they display on their menu. The sweet potato pie has too much spice. I couldn’t even taste the sweet potato in the pie. The pie was very dark so I’m not sure what spices were used. The beignets were cooked too long and the bread pudding was ok but nothing to rave about. The portions should be larger for the prices they charge. They have only been open for 9 months so maybe they will consider making a few changes. Long story short, the customer service is awesome but I would not come back here.

A solid 3.5 stars! Had the Cajun Fish and Shrimp — fish had great flavor but the hush puppies needed something(not sure what was missing)… I will definitely be returning to support this African-American business. Service was prompt and very personable. Great menu selection — can’t wait to try the Voodoo Jerk wings next time.

Been trying to find a cure for my cravings! I grew up going and then working at a hometown restaurant called«Cajun Catfish». I did carry out and called ahead to place my order. I timed it perfectly(arrived in 15mins to pick up with a 12 min food eta) TBH — Inam going to give them another try, because I REALLY did taste the potential and flavors. I think my comp, aunts may be tied to the fact that I placed my order at 2:20 on a Saturday when they close at 3pm for two hours. I get that if you come in right before a place closes… Everything may not be as fresh or as good. I had to wait another 10+ mins after arriving and paying. Fried fish and shrimp — great seasoned fish — flaky and solid flavor — good«Wing Stop» like fries — sadly needed a bit more crispness — I will order well done fries next time, just like I do at Wing Stop * soggy shrimp breaking — I think this was ready before everything else in my order. * it was also missing a couple of shrimp Hush puppies(ordered extra) **gummy and too heavy … Tasted as though these had been refried or the batter was over beaten, which can cause the texture ** overlooked — hush puppies are never to be dark brown. They are a cornmeal based batter, so even when frying the color should be a warm golden brown. Beignets *** ugh, I was bummed. These were far too think to count as beignets. They only had powdered sugar. They were missing the advertised servings of fudge sauce and ice cream. I also think that if you are charging a $ 1/beignet … They better be stellar. All the other reviews rave about them, and I know this was the last thing to go in my bag… so again I am going to blame the pre-close timing as the main issue. Blackened Fish — favorite item ordered — flavorful and healthy fish — great tasting green beans(sharp tomato paste flavoring and bacon) — GREAT fried rice — next time I am ordering a plate of this! — great price! $ 9 for big filet and two sides. Great lunch! I am going to return. As you can tell they have amazing reviews! I NEED a good Cajun place.

My husband and I was in town from Charleston SC. We opened Unilocal and this place had nothing but good reviews. I am a self proclaimed foodie and couldn’t wait to try the fish and dirty rice. The food WASAWESOME! I ordered the blackened fish and shrimp, dirty rice, green beans and the mac and cheese. My husband ordered the ettoufe. The plates were well portioned. The food was seasoned well. The only negative was I got full to fast and over stuffed myself. I didn’t want the meal to end. This is not a fancy place but if you want good, delicious food and great service this Is where you want to go.

Today was the first day back here in a few months and they expanded their dining area. This restaurant occupancy is now 62 people. I kind of miss the old counter spot tho but I’m very pleased with the freshness of the food here STILL. This Cajun spot is uncomplicated. Simple signage and menus. I enjoy places like this because you really get to know the people and enjoy the food. I can’t say enough about this place and how good the food is and how nice the people are. What an awesome little spot for some good Cajun food with big flavors. My current favorite is Blackened Tilapia and Shrimp dinner on a bed of rice that comes with sides of dirty rice, green bean and garlic toast. The fish and shrimp was cooked perfectly. If you like dirty rice than you need to try this rice here, so goooOOOooood. There is now Mac N Cheese on the menu. Oh my this is good. I haven’t had anything that I didn’t like from here. The green beans are required because it’s just delicious. This spot is definitely a hidden gem in the North Dallas Addison area.

«Well-balance» is the best word in my opinion to describe its food. In regards to its service, it is «impeccable.» If you want great soul food that is not overly salty or sweet, this place will not let you down.

I was craving rice and fried fish being that I’m an island girl. I’ve always seen this place but was skeptical because it looked like a really old building but when I walked in, it was very clean and reminded me of my grandmother’s restaurant in CA. I ordered the fish po boy and dirty rice. I’ve tasted better po boy. But the fish was seasoned very good and that rice waa the bomb. I like their menu and cant wait to try their jerk wings, gumbo, etouffe…

i got the blackened fish and shrimp. the best flavors ever and it wasnt just bc of spices. FANTASTIC. the fried green tomatoes were fantastic and they give you a ton. the gumbo was delicious as well. again GREATGREAT flavors. the only downside was the mac and cheese and the green beans. green beans were ok but the mac and cheese tasted watered down big time. even kraft mac and cheese was better. JEANS: OK by far ORDER at counter

Holy mother of God! This place is incredible! We decided to try a little of everything and everything was amazing. Nothing was even«just okay». It was all AMAZING! Fried green tomatoes = best I’ve ever had and I tried A LOT of fgt. Fried Pickles = surprisingly crispy, delicious batter. Étouffée = perfectly buttery and garlicky and spicy. Jerk wings = well balanced mix of spicy & sweet and wonderfully messy. Sausage & Mac n cheese = tasty & perfect for kids that think they don’t like Cajun food. Finally, the chef surprised us with beignets. I’ve never had these little fried pieces of pastry yumminess before, but I took one bite and thought everything in heaven should taste like this. We don’t live anywhere near here, but I solemnly vow to come back any time we are in the area.

I was very happy to stumble onto this place while getting gas in the same shopping area. Cajun is hard to find in this area. It’s right next to a cleaners if you have trouble finding. The food: I ordered the shrimp étouffée ! Delish! Just the right amount of spice! It was shrimp overload ! Lots of them ! Plum and juicy ! Comes with buttered toast . The service: I’m not sure if «Daisy» is who I met, but the lady I met was kind and helpful. She was also doing the cooking ! The wait was not long at all. Great service ! Ambience — it’s casual. Small. There’s a long booth with a few bar stools to sit down on, but the nice lady advised me, they are opening the space next to them to open a full restaurant. This will be nice for the area . Overall, I will be back !

Fried catfish was absolutely DELICIOUS, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The fish was perfectly cooked flaky and the cornmeal batter perfectly seasoned. I also tried the blackened shrimp and that also was a kick in the mouth! It comes with about 6 shrimps in the platter, so would need to order extra to be fully satisfied. The gumbo was great and solid, too, though wish it was a bit hotter when I ate it. Very good extra to pick up, though. As for sides, I tried the green beans(solid choice), dirty rice(delicious), fresh cut fries(similar to those from WingStop, so ask for extra seasoning if that’s your norm), and coleslaw(just like any other good cole slaw). Last minute, I ordered the sweet potato bread pudding and am very glad I did. It’s a huge slice and great way to finish the meal. The staff is great and extremely friendly, which is always a plus. Portions are generous, too! Lastly, I must say I’m not too much of a fish fan… but this food here was fresh, well-prepared, and did not have any smell or taste of fishiness. I actually wish I had ordered more fish and shrimp by the end of my meal. Will definitely keep coming back! PS: Not much room to sit down… the place used to be 2 different pizza places in the place, so there are only a few bar stools inside. Not good for groups, BUT… they deliver.

I’m from Louisiana so I know Cajun food! Ms. Daisy’s is definitely serving up some amazing Cajun meals. Skip the Popeyes fast food and stop here to get lunch or dinner that’s fresh and made to order! I was washing clothes at the laundry wash next door and I decided to stop in for lunch. The place is pretty small which makes it perfect to grab orders on the go and take back to the office. If you’re looking for a nice hot plate of fresh food, eat here!
