**DISCLAIMER: THISPLACEOPENSAT3PM. THREEFREAKINGPM. If you are looking for fried chicken for lunch DON’T BOTHER.**(sorry, hangry because I had to wait an extra because did not know they opened this late) Saw this place in the newspaper and wanted to check it out because the pictures looked awesome. However, I was a little disappointed by the taste. Personally, I like the service here because it’s pretty Korean style – they give you the menus, you sit down, and they leave you to do your thing. When you’re done you can press a button and the waiter/waitress will come to you. That’s a huge perk for me because I personally hate it when waiters and waitresses always hover over your table waiting to get your order because it makes me feel rushed. Also another one of my FAVORITE things here: before your chicken comes out, they give you a plate and forks and tongs so it’s easier for your party to share. ANDTHELITTLETONGSARESHAPEDLIKECHICKENFEETATTHEEND. SOCUTE. My family and I ordered half marinated(yang yum) and half honey garlic. The chicken comes with a cabbage salad thing and pickled radish(which has a sweet and vinegar-y taste). The sides go well with the greasy chicken! Plus side – if you run low on those sides, ring the wonderful bell and they will bring you more, no charge. The chicken itself isn’t bad. Each«half» comes with 7 – 8 pieces. For the marinated chicken, the sauce is pretty well coated. Has a sweet and mild spicy taste(you can ask for it spicier). The honey garlic in my opinion wasn’t very well coated, but a little sweeter than I expected it to be. Not bad, but not my favorite. Definitely your normal regular American fried chicken. Korean style fried chicken has its own unique style. Sauces are good, but a little on the sweet side for me. This place is known for their rice flour fried chicken, but to be honest, didn’t make a huge difference in taste for me. Thought it kinda tasted like any Korean fried chicken. The only huge downside to this place is the lighting. It’s really dim, so if you like shops like Hollister and Abercrombie and fried chicken is your food calling, check this place out. If you’re not a vampire and you actually like being able to see(but would like to try Korean fried chicken), try to sit by the window LOL.

You can never go wrong with some good olé KFC! The service was great and the chicken was even better. Cozy seating and cute ambiance!

GLUTENFREEFRIEDCHICKEN(as long as you order plain, no scallions or sauce). So yummy and crispy! It’s a real treat. Service has been good with every visit.

I would like to give this place another try, but for now I’m just going to base this on my current experience. So first time here was after eating next door at koryo Korean BBQ. I got the #7 I think, sweet and mild fried chicken, bone in. I also got it to go and didn’t try it until 25 minutes later. But it was pretty good. I made my own rice, added a little soy sauce, and it is a good meal. I would give it a 3.5 for now. Hope to go back sometime soon.

I’ve only had Korean fried chicken at two different restaurants and Rice Chicken is definitely better by a long shot. I’ve only eaten here twice for takeout and even though I don’t get the entire experience by not eating there, I still enjoy it a good bit. My favorite would have to be the original and then the sweet and spicy flavor. The honey garlic wasn’t as good as I expected and I also tried some cheese flavor, which was meh. Depending on how big of a fan of fried chicken you are, I would say a whole chicken can serve 2 – 3 people. I do like that when you call in a to go order, they make it fresh for pick up so I feel that each time I’ve had it, I’m not missing out much because it’s not soggy. The chicken is pretty crunchy and light(as light as fried chicken could get). Both times I’ve gotten it, it’s been pretty juicy and flavorful. I like to also dab some salt and pepper on the original flavor still. I’ve yet to try other items on their menu but knowing me, I probably won’t and it’s fine. But I would say it can average roughly ~15 per person if you dine in(tax & tip included), so it’s not too bad. Only downside is you can’t get your fried chicken fix here before 3pm! But you can as a late night snack :)

I’ve only had Rice Chicken togo, and my advice would be to call in your order if you wanted carryout. They make it fresh so it takes a solid 20 minutes if wait until you arrive to place an order. I never got a good look at the restaurant, but they told us our party of 10 was too big to be seated at 10:00PM and didn’t give us a wait time(hence we got it togo) so I wouldn’t recommend this place for larger groups. I really like the original fried chicken. It’s light, crispy, flavorful, and moist. I just dip mine into salt and pepper and enjoy it like that! The #6 at $ 23 for half fried and half sweet and spicy is their most popular menu item, and I think it’s a good way to try 2 flavors. You actually get all parts of a real chicken(like the rib meat, my favorite!) instead of just drumsticks and thighs like traditional fried chicken places. It also comes with pickled radishes and a slaw, both don’t excite me. I think this place will run you at least $ 12 per person and it could very EASILY be more than that if you get more than half a chicken per person, sides, drinks, and tip if you dine in. I just come for the chicken. You won’t feel like there’s half an inch of grease on your face after eating their fried chicken, and that’s what I love!

The chicken is awesome. Get the chicken. Order drinks for a fun time. Service is good. Almost leaning towards the local language, but you’ll still have a good time.

First time I tired rice flour Korean chicken and it wasn’t that bad! For appetizer I had roasted squid I was a bit disappointed because it was too chewy and it was $ 15. It was so chewy that my mouth hurt eating it but I had to finish it since it was $ 15 lol. We ordered the number that came with two flavors which was original fried chicken and sweet and spicy. The original had a small hint of spicy to it and you can definitely taste the rice flour. The sweet and spicy rice flour was not a strong taste since it was mixed with sauce. Overall, it was good. We spent around $ 40 something for two. The chicken does taste healthier and less greasy as regular KFC friend chicken.

It’s no Bonchon chicken. It only opens after 3PM. For some reason, I was hoping for rice & chicken. Nope, it’s Chicken battered with rice flour. If you like KFC — that’s KOREAN Fried Chicken — then Rice Chicken ain’t half bad, especially if you like your KFC sweet. Admittedly, I think it’s too sweet for my palette. Also, not convinced that it’s also healthier too. A viable option when you’re around K-town after 3PM. Drink lots of water or beer. It’s A-OK.

My friend was bananas for«chicken and rice». I was afraid it was fast food, which it wasn’t. What I did assume was that other things would be on the menu besides fried chicken and rice. But no, all they serve is fried chicken. It kind of annoyed me, especially being near such a variety of Korean food, but I get the need for specialty. I didn’t think the chicken was that great, but the atmosphere was dark and cozy, which was kind of a tease. To add insult to injury, our 7 piece chicken platter, $ 12, didn’t come with rice. I was later advised that the«rice» in the restaurant name is due to the unique usage of rice flour to fry the chicken. The 7 pieces are fairly large and is enough for two people, but the chicken was more crust than meat to me. It broke my heart that we chose to eat here over one of my favourite restaurants koryo kilrabi which was next door, mainly because I enjoy more variety and healthier options.

I’m not a big fan of fried chicken but my family wanted to try this place out. The placement of the tables were a little weird but I figured they had to place them that way to accommodate with the small space that they have. They do play some pretty loud party music like mentioned in other reviews, but it’s not to the point you can’t hear each other unless you are in a big group. We ordered half and half original fried chicken, sweet and spicy chicken, oven chicken, chicken ddeok bokki, pomegranate soju cocktail, and different flavored sauces on the side. Waitress warned us beforehand that some people have been complaining of stomach aches due to the general spiciness of their batter but I like spicy, so wasn’t a problem for me! Original fried chicken was the best out of all the chicken and I preferred dipping the original in to the sauce rather than ordering pre sauced chicken.(Cheaper too) It did have the spicy undertone to it but it wasn’t bad at all, those people who complained are probably the people that can’t do spicy at all! Sweet and spicy chicken was a huge disappointment. It was drenched in a sauce that lacks flavor which loses the point of this signature dish. The oven chicken was a disappointment as well as it was chewy and tasted ordinary unlike the fried chickens there. We ordered three sauces(around $ 2 each): special soy sauce, honey garlic, and this other mustardy brown sauce. I liked the honey garlic the best but it does have a really strong raw garlic taste to it that you won’t like if you’re not a garlic lover. Special soy sauce was also pretty good which reminded of the sauce they use at kyochon chicken and the brown sauce wasn’t great due to the strong mustard taste that I don’t like. I didn’t taste the ddeok bokki so I can’t say anything about that. The pomegranate soju cocktail was pretty good although it has a hint of vinegary taste that some people may not like. This is a good place to try if you like KFC but I probably won’t be coming back

I’ve wanted to try Korean Fried Chicken(or KFC) for so long… and finally got a taste of it~ As an avid lover of fried chicken, I gotta say Rice Chicken didn’t disappoint. It offers a good selection of fried chicken flavors with quality chicken meat that doesn’t leave your stomach feeling 5 times greasier than when you came in. Korean Fried Chicken differs from traditional fried chicken in their flour coating, higher quality meat, and less grease. The flour coat is super apparent when you have anything other than the«original flavored» chicken. The texture is nicer, and for the most part, less crunchy. Of course, because Rice Chicken puts more thought into cooking their food, the chicken are NOT burnt to a crisp(ie when you get a bad night at Churches) and are NOT soaked in 50 tons of grease probably left over from 2 days earlier. We ordered the original, honey garlic, and sweet and sour flavored. My favorite was the honey garlic. I think the original tasted fine, but it’s just that I’ve had fried chicken much too often and the taste isn’t anything THAT special(don’t get me wrong, it is GOOD. It’s just that it tastes like normal fried chicken but at a higher quality). Sweet/sour is also delicious — it comes coated in a sweet/spicy sauce that’s not too overly flavored. The honey garlic to me was the most well balanced, flavor wise, and the one that I can probably eat the most of. Portion sizes are very generous. None of the pieces I had felt cheap, and every piece had a good amt of meat on it for you to enjoy. Pricing wise, I would say it’s a bit on the pricier side. You will probably end up spending around 15 bucks a person. Definitely share with a friend or something or else you will end up having a ton of extra food. One gripe I had with this place was the lighting. We came at night and for some reason we got seated in a dark little corner. I think the lighting for the entire place wasn’t too bright, but it would have been nice to not be blinded every time I flash my eyes at the TV… it was literally a challenge to properly read the menu… Would recommend~ excited to try out other KFC(not the fast food place…) restaurants now… :D

I ordered a half & half chicken. Pros — Their fried chicken is very very crispy and the side salad tastes pretty good. — They prepare food quite fast. — The chicken tastes better than many other chicken places. Cons — Both fried and sweet & spicy chicken are really spicy and some kind of unknown seasoning(it was not just pepper) is VERY strong. — As pricy as the order was, the portion of the side salad was surprisingly small. Also the chicken portion could be a bit more generous. — I had a serious stomach ache after eating them all day long. I have to give them two stars for that. As a chicken lover, I have not had this much trouble eating fried chickens before. * Caution: Do not eat this before doing any important business.

I like that the rice flour gives the fried a chicken a lighter, thinner, yet still crispy taste. What I didn’t like was $ 10 for plain fries that looked like they came out of a frozen bag. It looked nothing like the photo. Flavors for the chicken are good, but I wouldn’t come back voluntarily.

Seems like a lot of people came here and ask«is this the bbq place?» Because they are right next to Koryo… anyway here’s my review. Atmosphere:(3⁄5) * Tables are well surrounded by wooden wall so it feels like you truly have privacy, however, the music was on the blast level and choices of songs aren’t dining friendly. But the lighting and decorations are beautiful. Food:(3⁄5) * we ordered sweet and spicy chickens. They were too sweet, with the honey and cinnamon combined in the sauce just boosted it’s sweetness through the chart, nevertheless the texture was good but not the taste. Oh the wait time after you ordered is very long so… Staff:(4⁄5) * Staffs are nice especially the girl, they just leave you alone which is good if you need them there is a button that you can call them over. Cleanliness:(5⁄5) * Very well clean place. Good hang out spot: …it’s okay. Probably won’t be able to hear each other, but at least you have privacy.

I noticed this place on my way in to Koryo. It’s right in front, so hard to miss. During my dining at Koryo I had the pleasure of meeting Tommie(one of the owners) and I mentioned this place. He was like«have you tried it?». I said«no». Then he told me that he and his wife also own it and offered us a tour of the place after we were done dining. During the tour he suggested that I try the #6, half fried and half sweet & spicy. I just couldn’t wait to get back and try them. Rice flour is definitely healthier for you and gives the chicken a crispier crunch. This I kinda already knew. Just wasn’t prepared for the reality. Yes peeps the chicken here is freaking delicious crispy crunch all things good. They marinade and fry and bake and fry and whatever. You can get 19 different varieties from wings to bone in to boneless to baked. You can even get some tossed in snow flour cheese powder! Not sure what that is, but, I’d love to try it. Seriously if I lived in Dallas this would be a weekly stop for me. Chicken ain’t the only thing they have. They also have fish paste soup, chicken feet, sea snail, dried squid and some other things. We went here for the chicken. I couldn’t wait as I had kept thinking about them since seeing them two nights before. We tried to go during lunch time but they didn’t open until 1500. So we came back several hours later. I literally stumbled on my feet getting through the door. One thing I know for certain is that Koreans make some killer fried chicken. I was here to indulge. We went in and were greeted immediately and shown to our seats. Complimentary daikon, fish chips and slaw were brought out and I went with Tommie’s suggestion of the #6. I was impressed that they give you plastic gloves to wear so you don’t get your fingers all messy. How cool is that? Once the chicken arrives I start snapping pics and asked for a side of sriracha for dipping. I really like spicy. As we were pigging out and really enjoying the chicken in walks Tommie. Apparently the waiter noticed me taking pics and went next door to get him. Too funny! Anyhoot Tommie comes by and starts chatting and thanking us for coming by and then he looks at me and goes«Man you are really sweating». LOL. I was like«Yeah, I’m dipping in Sriracha». Tommie is a nice guy and I can tell he really cares about his customers satisfaction and the quality of his food. Rice Chicken is a major win win and I told him he needs to bring his talents down to Austin. We could really appreciate restaurants like Koryo and Rice Chicken. When in Dallas definitely hit up Koryo and Rice Chicken!

You wanna feel Korean and eat fried chicken while drinking beer like those beautiful actors in k-dramas? Then this is the place. They have so many different types of Korean fried chicken. It’s battered with spicy rice flour so each chicken has a tad spicy kick to it. My favorite was the honey garlic — highly recommend it. If you’re with a big group, I would suggest reserving the back room. We had 16 people and fit perfectly. Otherwise, it seems that there is quite a wait on a Saturday night. But don’t get me wrong, it’s worth it!

So glad I stopped here for a quick dinner before my flight for the best Korean fried chicken by far! As the name suggests, Rice Chicken’s KFC is battered in rice-based flour instead of the conventional wheat-based flour, which has a finer texture. Not just the finer fried skin, the Korean fried chicken is also made with lots of Korean spices to give a strong flavorful punch that even came with the warning that«some may find this dish too spicy» on the menu! When the waitress told me that«sometimes a kid find the wings too spicy», I knew it was a challenge that I must take! You can order the KFC in its original no-sauce version or sauced versions that include spicy & sweet and honey garlic. However, the surprise is that the spiciest option is the innocent looking original that has no sauce on it. Don’t be deceived into thinking that because it looks like a regular fried chicken, it’s not going to be that spicy! The spiciness is definitely spot-on and so delicious that I did not care about burning the roof of my mouth as I was chowing them down. Surprisingly, despite it being fried, they aren’t greasy at all too. Did I mention the complimentary Korean cole slaw and pickled radish? That’s a lot of flavors to take! My only complaint is that all orders are at least ten pieces and most are portioned as half of whole chicken, which can be too much for only one person. Hopefully they added smaller-portion options, but for now, rejoice that you can take them home! I highly recommend trying Rice Chicken especially if you love any kind of fried chicken. — tl;dr version: 1) Unique Korean fried chicken using rice flour and Korean spices 2) No-sauce or sauced versions available but the best and the spiciest is the original 3) Complimentary cole slaw and pickled radish

BLESSSSSSS! Thank you for opening. This place is so flippin’ good. I really wish they had one in Austin. We got a full order of their Original Chicken, and Sweet and Spicy. Their original is my personal favorite. The rice flour that they use is full of flavor and has the perfect amount of spice. Kind of smacks you in the face. The Sweet and Spicy is also delicious if you love saucy chicken. Comes with two complimentary side dishes, diced daikon and slaw with a light mayo-type dressing — very typical of Korean fried chicken places. I suggest eating it with a bowl of rice, mmmm. WARNING: a full order of their chicken will feed about 4 people! We ordered 2 full orders of chicken for 4 people because the waiter said one full ordered wouldn’t be enough so he suggested that we buy 2. I CALLBULL! Probably wanted to make some extra bucks in tip. So be warned, if there’s only two of y’all, just get ½ order of chicken. All in all, I would definitely come back here again. :)

It’s here guys, the perfect Korean«yangnyum chicken» has officially arrived in Dallas! All of my friends have been raving about how delicious their chicken was so I was stoked and hoping that it would live up to its hype! I to-goed 2 whole fried and 2 whole«yangnyum», to feed 10 people. We had plenty of left overs, I would say 1 full chicken can feed 2 girls and 1 guy to be precise. The interior was nice and clean and the service was amazing. The chicken is battered with rice flour so it’s nice and fluffy but still has the crunch. The yangnyum sauce was flawless. It was sweet and had a nice spice to it. And of course the all important radish side dish was perfectly cold and crunchy! This is without a doubt my new go to Korean Chicken spot. I’ve heard great things about their oven baked chicken as well! That’s gonna be my next victim!
