The Petropolitan

Absolutely love this place. Prices are reasonable and my pup always comes home happy and smelling so nice! We’ve had a lil issue with dry skin and they knew exactly what to do to fix it!

I agree with the other posts related to the smell. Definitely smells like funk when you walk in. They tried to use incense but unfortunately you can’t cover up stank, you have to clean stank to get rid of it.
Despite all of that the hair cuts were very good. So I guess if you are willing to handle the smell, then your pet will look good. :-)

They always do an amazing job grooming my large poodle/​sheepdog mix! I tried grooming him myself once. all I can say is that I fully admire the amazing job they do here. He always comes back happy and looking great. On top of this, they always take the extra time to talk through the cut that you want and always deliver. I highly highly recommend them for grooming!

Petropolitan is an awesome facility for my dog, Oliver! He is a Great Pyrenees and loves this place! The staff are unbelievable! Nikki, Taylor, Chris and the rest of the gang are so loving towards their furry clients! When Oliver leaves Petropolitan after grooming and boarding, he looks like a million dollars!

This place has great prices for doggie daycare and I like their approach to trying to find the right «pack» for each dog. However, the play areas (small rooms or cornered off sections) aren’t very spacious and I can’t imagine the dogs have much room to actually play. It’s an odd set up and every time I come to pick up my dog, all the dogs are just standing in their sectioned off spaces looking like they want to get out of there. Also not a fan that the flooring is concrete throughout. Lots of doggie daycares have play mat flooring that is easier of dog’s paws.
This place is also a PAIN to get to during rush hour. I work in the design district and it still takes me 20 minutes to get to Petropolitan after work. They close early at 6:30pm so be warned! It is also extremely inconvenient that there is no parking outside of the building. You have to park across the street and the whole process is not quick. Overall, the cons outweigh the pros and we are in search of another doggie daycare place.

Excellent Dog Grooming.
We are new to Dallas and went here because it was close to home and had convenient hours and good reviews. We are very happy with the way our boy turned out.
From the beginning we were greeted by the employees who were super friendly and you could tell they love their jobs and dogs.
Our dog is also very difficult with being groomed and they did a great job with no complaints.
I am giving it 5 stars because the service is great and my dog came out looking like a stud. I will however agree with some of the other reviews that it smells a little bad in there. Perhaps they have been working on it because I was expecting much worse!
Overall I am very impressed and will continue to take our schnauzer here. I might even use them for boarding in the future if needed.

My dog was groomed wonderfully and he smelled great but seriously, BEWARE of the pee smell when you first walk in along with all the barking dogs (I think all the noise level startled both me and my dog!).
It was an adjustment for me to leave my dog there because of these things but upon picking him up seemed to have had a great time. Also, a great price for large breed dogs.

Our dogs have loved going to doggy day care here! They come back just exhausted! We are trying them out for boarding coming up soon, and expect our fur babies to love it! Our only issue is the smell. It has a lovely urine smell that our dogs bring home and leave a little touch of in our car. Not sure if they just need to clean more regularly or what, but would be perfect if they could make just a «dog smell» and not pee. :)

I love the Petropolitan! My review is based on grooming and not doggy daycare, as we haven’t utilized that feature yet. I’ve brought my dog here about 5 different times and they always do an excellent job with grooming. They ask how short I would like her coat and they keep a file on her so we know what we’ve done in the past. The staff is friendly and welcoming and I know they are very gentle and care for my little girl. I always get the grooming option that includes a good ear cleaning, gland succretion, nail clipping, shampoo/​conditioner and blow dry and shave. I love the way she looks and smells when I pick her up. And she’s like a baby pup again afterwards! Thanks, Petropolitan!

I really like this place, the staff is very friendly and I always see them taking great care of the dogs. Sunday pickup is from 9am-9:30am and 6pm-6:30pm. Just picked my dog up from boarding!

I took Kitty, the cat, here for a lion cut. Everything about the grooming was great. Kitty came back smelling and looking great. Like others mentioned, there was a hint of animal smell when you walk in and I was glad to be in and out quickly. For a lion cut, it was 75 dollars. Making an appointment for Kitty was very quick and I was able to provide the needed information in the morning. They said they would have her cut done before three, and sure enough, they called around 1:30. Picking up Kitty was very fast as well.

Wow! HOMERUN! We took our little four legged daughter Dee-​Dee in for a completely new haircut! She is a very high maintenance Maltese with a long coat. After researching shorter haircuts, we decided on a new look! When we arrived, we showed them a picture of our desired outcome! The gentleman at the front desk immediately called it the teddy bear cut! When my partner arrived just hours later to get her, he was so thrilled with her new look he forgot to tip! LOL!!! Therefore, she will return over and over again to maintain this amazing new haircut! Way to go team PETROPOLITAN! We love our new puppy!

We arrived Dallas from Houston, for a 3 day stay. Brought our 4 year old Akita, Bear who is a pretty mellow guy. The staff was great, easing our anxiety as we dropped off our one and only. Picked him up 3 days later to find him bright and fluffy following a top notch bath. We highly recommend this facility, without reservation. We WILL be back!

Stopped here yesterday based on the reviews I had read hoping to find a new place to take my dogs for the occasional half day play. The staff here were extremely friendly, so for that I would rate them five stars. So on to why that’s not the case here.
Let me first say that I understand that any location used to board and groom animals will smell like animals. I get that. As soon as I opened the door though, I was not greeted with an animal scent, it was odor/​stench. In the five minutes that I was there and talking to the staff about services, etc., frankly I was trying not to gag during the conversation. The only other time I had smelled an odor that strong was when a friend’s AC unit went out in the spring and his apartment stank of dog/​cat for days because of the lack of air flow. Not sure how else to describe it.
Wish that I was saying something nicer here, but I even had to open the windows in the car after I left because I smelled like the inside of the business in my own car.
The «play» area for small dogs that they showed me was also a major turnoff. the first area by the door where my two little guys would have ended up was barely half the size of my bathroom. It had five dogs inside of it that were practically on top of each other with dog poop and pee on the floor. I get that accidents happen, but really?
Was really hoping to love this place since I was looking for something specifically in the downtown area, but I would not recommend this place to anyone based on what I’ saw here.
I’m guessing based on the other reviews that people are most likely going during the week and are in a hurry, so perhaps that haven’t noticed these things or just don’t care.

Just drop my baby, Molly off for her first grooming experience. The staff said they would need at least 4 hrs with my pup to ease her anxiety. The moment I drop her off, the staff started to hold her right away. Molly got to meet and play with new friends. When I picked her up, she was so clean and knots free. She even got a cute bandana. Thanks for taking care of my Molly. We will definitely come back :)

I have mixed feelings about this place. My cat kept getting matted fur so I decided it was time to get her groomed. I chose Petropolitan based on Unilocal reviews (overall good and that they do groom cats) and proximity to my home. I called and was shocked that they said I could bring the cat in immediately… this worked well because I took a random day off of work and had time.
Went to drop the cat off and was smacked in the face with the stench of this place. I am not a dog owner and the smell of dog is not my favorite… but the smell of about 20 dogs does just that… smacks you in the face. Surprised at the layout for the dogs… it was very open and had more of sectioned off areas for groups of dogs. It was insanely loud as each and every one of them barked upon me and the cat’s arrival. I guess I am just surprised they wouldn’t have a lobby that better suited handling customers, I couldn’t hear a thing and had to ask them to repeat themselves many, many times. I felt like I had just walked into a kennel.
They recommend grooming the cat like a lion so I went with it… besides, how insanely cute does that sound?! I asked how long it would take and they said a few hours. Okay, since the beginning of time hasn’t a few hours meant about three? Not here. After five hours and trying to call this place to no avail I just went back. They were very apologetic but the thing is they should know better… you have my pet. My pet is like my child… probably the closest I will come to having one anyway and like to know that she wasn’t accidentally mauled by dogs or have a heart attack from the stress of their barking. A phone call that it was taking longer than expected or answering your phone is all I ask.
I ended up waiting outside for about 30 more minutes while she finished up because the headache I acquired by that point was too much to handle.
The price = $ 70 plus tax plus tip. I’ve never had my cat groomed before but this seems insanely steep. They really just shaved her body… her head, feet, and tail were left full length. She does look really cute and matted fur won’t be a problem for the time being but really wish they had done her tail too as her back by her tail was the main issue… it was described that her tail would be done but with all of the barking and waiting I didn’t want to take her out of her cage to inspect her before leaving.
Parking appeared to just be street parking on the side street nearby, there were a few meters available. While waiting to take her home I did see a few people just pull up in front and put thier hazards on… didn’t seem like a bad idea if you knew you wouldn’t be there too long.

I have a big cat who has more hair than one should, I mean she gets mats and even though I brush and brush and brush she sheds all over the place. Imagine finding hairballs the size of a normal cat that just floated wispily off your cat. My neighbor takes his dog to The Petropolitan so I thought I’d give it a shot. I called explained this was going to be her first experience and asked what I needed to do. Now I know that if I was going to be messing with an 18lb cat I’d want her to be sedated to some degree so I offered to do so and they agreed it would be a good idea. So up early and to give a cat a pill, right. We went in around 9 and they went over what they were going to do, I decided on a lion cut so she’d be shaved from her ankles up and leaving a ‘mane’ around her head but I chose to leave her tail the way it is, they typically take it to a little poof on the end.
They chose to let her air dry and cut her I think 3 times. So it did take a little longer than they expected but they didn’t want to freak her out with the dryer which I really appreciated. All in all it was a good experience. She’s grown out a bit and I think we need to go back in again, but this time she’s getting the little poofy on the end of her tail.

I move to town for a new job and within two weeks I have to plan a trip to miserable Chicago for work! I don’t know anyone in town and I’m very picky about who takes care of my «son»… I find myself in a real pinch and my concierge recommends these guys.
I go by and explain my predicament and they will come by twice a day to let out the kid. Day one, small disaster… concierge doesn’t start until 2pm when he shows up for the key and the managers office is like «who are you? What are you here for»??? Crap. They pull their heads out of their ass and give the guy the key. (you don’t even want to see the review I drafted for my building!). Day two we decide its best they pick him up and take him to daycare for a couple of days.
They were caring about my kid and I did appreciate that, but I didn’t hear anything about what was happening after wed (I returned friday) and when I got home I found a mysterious scratch across his belly. I went by to find out what happened and none of us could figure it out. I don’t blame them at all, stuff happens and this was a crazy mystery! Their genuine concern is worth a million bucks!
I’m surprised that someone mentions dog hair at a pet sitting business? really? Pet hair, shocking! They are currently doing a remodel for one of the doggie play area’s so its a bit dustier then usual. They seems to be pretty good about segregation of the pets and while it may «look» like their’s overcrowding, the dogs don’t seem to notice. They even have a pen for more energetic vs the will you pet me and pick me up bunch who don’t even seem to notice there’s another dog standing next to them.
Not all dog’s like to run and play all day with other dogs, mine is one of them. They did the best they could with a pooch that doesn’t even spend time away from his mommy… and I’m grateful! The price is very reasonable for their service and caring… better then most anywhere else you’ll find for sure!

I’ve got the most adorable Chihuahua/​Min Pin mix named Marshall. He’s an active, mischievous little booger but he’s my little buddy. I also spoil him rotten — stereotype, maybe but really I can’t help myself.
Located on Harwood in the heart of downtown the cool shop is bustling with dogs barking and playing in their home style surroundings.
My concierge told me about Petropolitain and I was like «sure I’ll give him a little doggy day care fun so he can socialize with other dogs.» I hadn’t even visited for a while but the last few times I’ve taken him myself. Marshall LOVES it there! He starts jumping all around when we pull up in the driveway. I love that they intro the dogs to one another and find the ones they get along with best. Despite his pint size my little man likes the BIG DOGS and so he gets to romp around all day with the great danes and such. I love it because when he comes home from grooming, boarding, or day care he’s all tuckered out and goes right to sleep.
You’d think it would be super pricey but it isn’t. I think I pay around $ 12 a day for a doggie day care package and grooming is only about 30 – 35 bucks for the works.
The staff is super cool and you can tell they really do well with all the dogs. No matter if it’s grooming, boarding, or just a play day Petropolitain is sure to make your pet’s day.
