GUNBAE(*CHEERS*) BITCHES! San Francisco has Tonight Soju Bar, The Spot, Toyose, Playground, Arang, and Cocobang; late-night hot spots to get your soju drank and drunken eats on. Daly City has errmmm… your neighborhood dive bar where«drink till he’s cute» wouldn’t even apply. Yes, even for me… the Queen of «He’s Cuteeeee!» who my friends claim holla at guys who looks like they’ve been beaten with the ugly stick. All I gotta say is I’m grateful for all my dear friends. Nettie’s Fire Lounge is a welcome addition to Daly City offering locals a taste of the SF Korean bar night life. Little Fire Pot by day( ), Nettie’s Fire Lounge turns into a late-night and after-party hot spot to get your grub on(closes at 3:30AM on weekends). In addition to their flavored sojus made with real juices(honeydew, watermelon, strawberry, mango, and peach), they have sake bottle service, and even mocktails for the non-alkies. For drunken eats, they have Asian Fusion tapas like popcorn chicken, crab stuffed mussels, nori crusted fries, and skewers. For something more substantial, they have garlic noodles, rice bowls, and Asian fondue(aka hotpot/shabu shabu). After a night of «behaving» at Classic Bowling on Saturday night, my friends and I came to Nettie’s Lounge for a drink which of course ended up in a buzzed eating. We started with a carafe of the Watermelon Soju($ 14) which I absolutely loved because it was like drinking fresh watermelon juice that WILL creep up on you. BEWARE. The only other place that has watermelon soju is at Tonight Soju Bar in Parkside/Sunset and I definitely favor Nettie’s. If I wasn’t DD, I would have killed the entire carafe myself and another and another. Yah, I’m NOT a cheap date. The Beef Carpaccio($ 10) was my favorite as the beef was well marbled and the ponzu sauce gave it a nice tangy bite. The Unagi Bön Bons($ 8) were like a deep fried sushi roll topped with deliciously rich and savory sweet unagi. The Fried Chicken Wings($ 7) were my least favorite as it was a bit dry and very bland. If they can replicate Cocobang’s KFC or San Tung/So’s chicken wings, it would be a hit as nothing goes better than soju and deliciously crisp, moist wings with a finger-licking sauce! No one in SF makes Honeydew Soju so you best believe I’ll be back for that. Now, I just gotta find a DD. HOLLA! OTHERNOTES: *Nettie, the owner is super friendly and engaging with all her customers. Her staff is just as awesome. *More of a restaurant than a «lounge» since it uses the same furnishing as Little Fire Pot. I thought there would be couches to «lounge» on but there were just tables. *sad face* *Live DJ spinning on Fridays(club music playing otherwise in the background). *Karaōke room in back for up to 30 people.

Finally, some nightlife around the area. nettie’s Fire Lounge just launched this week and it’s been a full house every night! You often see this concept all around the city, but I commend the owners for bringing this concept into peninsula. Full service restaurant during the day, but turning it into a lounge atmosphere at night, serving yummy soju and sake bomb. Not a fan of drinking? No problem, it’s a good place for late night eats as well as it serves fusion tapas and asian fondue. Had their black peppered garlic edamame, basil popcorn chicken, and garlic noodles tonight and they were all very yummy. Great drinking snacks and a good change from your typical bar fries, wings, and nacho too. I’ll definitely be back to try more items on their menu. Great concept and friendly service, nettie’s Fire Lounge is definitely off to a great start. I see lots of potential with this place and will quickly be the new hot spot to hang out with friends and grab some late night grub. I was told that they stay open until 3:30am on Fridays and Saturdays too!
