Earlier reviews have already mentioned the great gentleman who works in this place. He has understanding of vegan food and since today put a really delicious vegan mango lassi(from real mango, not concentrate) on the menu. We heard him taking orders over the phone and he’s super polite, educating and sharp. Since we are Unilocal nerds and started to discuss the reviews, he told us about the cold-roti review that gave him a 1-star. They cook several rotis overnight for early customers who can’t wait when the restaurant opens. I asked, but why don’t you just pop it into the oven and reheat? He said, no, no, we don’t do that, if you want reheated stuff there is a whole store with pre-made food next door, we make everything fresh”. I have deep respect for this guy. Really, who would not reheat a roti to keep the good face? Not this guy! Staying true to himself, way to go, sir!

Excellent, excellent snack food. Perfect for those on a road trip that need to stop for a quick bite and/or dinner. Relatively slow service, but food quality more than makes up for it.

Nondescript eatery with delicious food. Its not easy to find this place unless you already know of it. It should’ve been crowded, but we were the only ones there. The food was excellent. We stopped by for a little bite and ended up placing an order after order. The wada pav was delicious, crispy and spicy. Their Delhi chaat was very flavorful too and hit my chat spot. Their hakka noodles were good too. It would be good if they had a few juice options other than soda and lassi. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who passes through the area.

Amazing food! Excellent service. My husband loves this place more than any other Indian restaurant we have tried in the CT/NY area. It’s small but the food is out of this world!

The food is pretty good. The fried chicken is amazing, but order it ahead of time before you go, or else you’ll be waiting about 15 mins(or however long it takes the owner to take the chicken out of the pressure cooker). The reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is because it’s a good take out place, and I would never eat in the store. You feel super oily, greasy, and sticky as soon as you walk in, the tables and chairs also have the«stickiness» from the grease. I would rather eat on the curb outside then inside the store. Again, you’re going to want to get it for take out, and not eat in.

Amazing food. We ended up here incidentally and were so amazed with the food. Best food of our trip in three days and we had Indian food all three days. Would love to come back here. Everything was so good and tasty. It was fresh. I hope we can get something like this in Pittsburgh.

Solid Indian vegetarian«fast» food/snack café. Tried a couple of things off their menu — chaat, samosa, pani puri, and chole bhatura. All were good and reasonable prices. Even have imported soda and dtinks. Nice experience overall.

4 ½* Bombay Express did a fantastic job providing a catered lunch for our party of 60+ people. We asked to pick up the food at 9AM and they were more than willing to work with us(5 other bigger caterers said that was too early). The food was packaged and ready to go on time which was greatly appreciated. Dhai Vada — these were pretty good and reasonably priced. We had to assemble some of the dish at home since we were picking up so early, but once all the elements came together the dish was very tasty. Bombay Sandwiches — these were a huge hit with our guests. The filling was seasoned perfectly and were light and refreshing which was perfect for a hot summer afternoon. Samosa Chaat — hearty and filling. The chana was very tasty, all we had to do was heat it up when we were ready to serve it. The samosa piece I had was a little tough, but I think I just got a dud. This was a huge hit as well. Overall we were pleasantly surprised by Bombay Express. They provided great street food which was perfect for a lunch event. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Love this restaurant. Food & service are fantastic! It’s very clean. My favorites are the daily lunch box specials, Bombay Chat, and the chai tea. I overheard an child say«this taste like the food in Indian». Her father replied, «we traveled 40 minutes to come here. we will do it again!»

My favorite chat place in danbury!!! Being a hardcore hyderabadi panipuri fan my tastebuds always crave for it. The best is always the panipuri and aloo tikki chat. The place offers more of North Indian fast food so is a bit disappointment for the South Indians. Surprisingly they have Dosa on the menu and it was very good!!! The owner is so polite and courteous

This place makes the best samosas I’ve ever had. And I mean I’ve had samosas all my life in India. Perfect potato stuffing and crisp, fresh and hot samosas. I will highly recommend the samosa. Must try! Their chaat are also very good. Pav bhaji i think was alright. I have not tried any other dishes there so far. I guess I should go back and order few more dishes next time…

We just found this place near Danbury Hospital in a search for vegan food. Unexpected awesomeness! Very helpful seemingly family owned. They helped us choose delicious vegan samosas and Poori Bhaji — a yummy potato dish served with bread. A helpful customer told us how to scoop the potatoes up with the bread and eat together. Seems any time is good for lunch. Bring your taste buds and your patience it’s made to order.

Takeaway points: 1. Clean 2. Fresh 3. Friendly 4. Tasty 5. Quick I got the samosa chaat and paapdi chaat and I really like both. Paneer tikka sandwich(panini) was a good choice as well. The prices were very afforable and the mango lassi is legit too. The portions are very generous and you’ll pleased when your done eating. I’ll be back later this week for sure.

great quickie stop if your craving that indian spice– and all dishes are VEG! FYI:(- it’s a bit of a hidden(literally) gem– tucked away at the back of a small plaza. Remember to turn into plaza next to mcdonalds– across the street from elmers diner. i had been out on a hunt for cilantro and stopped by the market next door(which has all the essentials for those wanting to cook a family meal without making the bases from scratch) and has HUGE bunches of cilantro. The food at Bombay is well priced and filling. i normally head to royal guard(pakastani owned) for my tikka and saag fixes– but this place has nice american/indian fusion panini sandwiches and lighter versions of the heavier stocks that you can’t eat every day. street food which explains all the offerings of chaat. they also have yummy chai and lassis for your thirsty cravings. will def be back. can’t wait to try some new things. i was confused and went to the other indian market farther down padanaram(which in fact does serve food as well –The Mango Tree) — which is pleasant as well– just not as much ‘street food’ type offerings.) Good place. it’s not ‘fast food’ so be prepared to wait a bit– or call ahead for your order.

Another quick casual Indian dining experience. We had a little trouble finding this place, it is small and the sign is even smaller. It was dark out and I don’t think their sign was illuminated on the road, the restaurant is in a small strip mall behind another strip mall — the one out front that has the most signs is the one with BUTTHEADS — a cigarette store, so if you see that, it is just behind it. It is on the same side of the street as McDonalds, just before you are going up that small hill. OK enough of my rambling. We drove by, turned around in the Subway parking lot and found Bombay Express. I think there is or used to be an Indian market in the plaza out front. Lots of parking here — at dinner time most of the other businesses that share the lot seemed to be closed. The space was pretty big for the small amount of tables they had — maybe it would seat 20 people. The counter was big and had steam table type setup. We ordered a Samosa Chat and Delhi Chat and a Mysore Masala dosa(Dosa is not usually on the menu, was special of the week) … The chats were both very good and reasonably priced, quality ingredients and well cooked — well spiced, not too hot or turned down americanized flavors. Dosa was pretty good as well but not the best dosa we have ever had, still delicious and had a lot of masala filling. Authentic Bombay style street food is the theme, and they hit the target perfect. If you are driving through Danbury and are looking for a quick easy meal, this is a great option that was pretty easy to get to off i-84.

Went for lunch. Didnt see many customers though — probably because it was only the 2nd month since opening. Overall, I thought it was a pretty descent place. Clean, family managed, reasonably priced, and the food was good. I thought it was a good option if you are looking for some variety in ethnic food. Would recommend trying at least once to see if you have the stomach for south indian type of food.

Dropped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the concept of café adopted by an Indian family. We loved their chaat items. Portions were generous, tiki chaat was delicious!

Visited for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the food and prices in this restaurant. Very different from your typical indian restaurant… They serve indian«street foods» which offered an explosion of flavors in my mouth. We ordered several items off the menu and shared them, I can’t tell you which one was better than the other because they were all delish! The husband and wife team running the place couldn’t be sweeter. The kitchen/restaurant was very clean. We loved the freshly processed carrot, ginger orange juice too!

I was expecting rice, lentils and typical Southern Indian foods, but found the menu here quite different from what I’ve had before. The sandwiches and chatt were both quite good. Rice, naan, chickpeas were simply not an option. Cricket on the TV would be a nice addition.
