Nice atmosphere, just what you’d expect from Daniel Island restaurant, with prices to match. Service was very attentive and friendly. Menu is interesting mix of Southern and Italian cuisine, mostly seafood. Portions are not large but expensive, scallops and ravioli is $ 25 includes 3 scallops and one very large ravioli, sauce was excellent though. Dinner for 2 run us $ 103.00, only 1 glass of beer each. All in all, good food and service but way overpriced for a neighborhood bistro.

I had a great experience eating here. It looked like everyone knew each other and it really had a home like vibe. The table bread and olive oil was really good. The olive oil concotion was really unique! I got the short braised ribs which was amazing. So buttery, so smooth, so flavorful. I was here on business trip but if I lived there, this place would definitely be a go to restaurant.

ok I’m going out on a limb here but Sermet’s Courtyard might just be my favorite place in Charleston! I have a difficult time giving anyone a 5 star but tonight they nailed it. First of all Sermets has the location. Just a short walk to the community dock on Daniel Island this just adds to the ding experience. note to self either get there early or leave enough time after dinner to take a short walk down to the waterfront. Service is great, bread and oil dipping sauce is the bomb but tonight was the special of clams and bucatini. What a dish! I was fully prepared to go with my go to the salmon but I went outside the box with the clams. It was lick the bowl great! Clams, roasted tomatoes, arugula in a white wine, coconut milk broth with some sort of Indian spices. Marsala maybe? Sermet doesn’t just mix ingredients because it sounds cool he does it with a plan. I love everything about this place. Like most other places I would love to see them offer an affordable house wine by the glass or carafe. Don’t tell too many people I still want to walk in without a reservation. Love Megan!

Best meal we had in Charleston in a sweet place right next to a lovely walking path by the river. Great service. Great food. Lovely surroundings.

One of the best authentic Mediterranean restaurant in Charleston. So loved their shrimp over polenta. They got lots of cocktail and wine selections too. Ambience is elegant and unique.

I’m always on the lookout for places I can have a simple meal or glass of wine while I read a book or write in my journal — you know, «a clean, well lighted place» — or just a nice place to relax and chat with a friend. Sermet’s offers this, and also looks like an ideal place for a romantic dinner. I’ll definitely be back! I came here on a Monday after an evening walk with a friend at the Daniel Island waterfront park. We wanted something light and a glass of wine. What an adorable place! Inside was full but not frantic. It is on the smaller side, but intimate and cozy. There is bar seating and wonderful artwork on the walls painted by Sermet. We probably would have had a short wait if we wanted to eat inside, but we sat outside since it was such a nice evening. The courtyard is spacious and very pretty. There is a little stage area where it seems they have live music on the weekends. Our server was on point — friendly yet professional and attentive. We each had a glass of wine(an extensive and impressive list with something for everyone ranging from $ 7/glass to $ 50+/bottle). We shared the clams appetizer — breaded fried clams with dipping sauce. Very tasty but not greasy or heavy. We also had the tomato bisque — mildly creamy with nice chunks of tomatoes. Full of flavor! And we each had our own salads. When it was time for the check our server happily split it for us(a frustrating issue I’ve been encountering lately). We each spent around $ 25 – 30. Not cheap, but comparable to most restaurants like it and we’ll worth it. Pluses for me: bar and outside seating, wine list, live music on the weekends, reasonably priced appetizers, tasty good.

Sermet’s does it right! I was in town for work, and had been told by a co-worker that’s this is a must go to restaurant! There is nothing fancy about this place, it’s small, good looking restaurant, the wait staff was friendly and made the right recommendations for my friends and I. We had muscles as an appetizer, and they were very good. Up there with some of the best I’ve had. The muscles were fresh, the sauce was so good that I could not stop soaking bread in it! A nice light almost curry coconut broth. I had the braised short rib with risotto, and I highly recommend it! Everything about it was right. Seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly and the right size portion. I hope i get to Charleston more often, and I will visit Sermet’s every time I am in town! Oh, and Sermet himself was at the restaurant, had a quick chat with him… Nice guy.

First time trying this little neighborhood gem out. I’ve been meaning to come for the longest time & finally got round it it. Why did I wait so long. Very busy for a Thursday night & reservations recommended. The ambiance décor & food were all on target to make this a great night out. The food was spot on. The have a great menu. I had the tilefish with risotto. Yum. We had a great bottle of wine & I had some coconut cake with coffee for dessert. A nice bar area to sit & have drinks. Overall I loved it & will definitely return.

Sermet’s is my own personal Cheers… Everybody knows my name! But unlike the fat guys at the bar, we don’t come for the beer, we come for the AMAZING food and service. And ok, the wine too. The staff is fast, knowledgable and so friendly! Once you’ve been in a time or two, you will be hard-pressed to get out of there without a genuine hug or handshake. In short, they love their patrons. And oh yeah, did I mention the food is great! We are so lucky to have such a gourmet-style restaurant on our little Danny Isle. A must do on the island!

Being born and raised in New York City, I had the opportunity to experience some of the best food and restaurants in the world. After meeting my Charleston born-and-raised husband and deciding to move south, I was excited about the foodie town of Charleston I had heard so much about. To be honest, I quickly grew tired of fried chicken, biscuits and shrimp and grits. My husband’s father and brother worked on shrimp boats and his entire family grew up on the water. We never could agree on a restaurant we were both satisfied with until we found Sermet’s. Satisfied with quickly became«obsessed with». From the second you enter the restaurant, you feel(as I read in an earlier review) it is the place everyone knows your name. The staff is professional and charming. Murat is not only a wonderful bartender, but becomes your best friend by the end of the night. Sermet’s two daughters are classy ladies that are honored to make their customers feel at home at their family’s establishment. Brett is the head chef and I could not speak more highly of. Not only does he do an incredible job in the kitchen, but he comes out to introduce himself to all visitors and ask for advice from everyone in the restaurant. Finally, there is Sermet, himself. What restaurant can you attend day in and out and have an owner who goes above and beyond to ensure your dining experience is the best? The ambiance of the restaurant is romantic yet welcoming and second to none in Charleston. Each night my family ventures out downtown to enjoy a meal, we drive back to Daniel Island depressed that we didn’t just go to Sermet’s. It has become our special place and in this New Yorker’s mind, one of a kind. Check out this hidden gem of Daniel Island for yourself!

This place was wonderful. We visited Charleston for the weekend and stayed on Daniel island. The staff was friendly and attentive and took great care of us. Our waiter looked like a real life Aladdin and was great. The food– so good. I had salmon, my husband had the scallops. Wine and cocktails were wonderful and the peanut butter cheesecake almost killed me it was so delicious. If you’re near Daniel Island, no need to deal with downtown crowds, just go here!

Called up at 6 pm on a Saturday, to see if there were any reservations, we were told we could sit at the bar at 630, or the next table was at 820. We got there at 815 and the restaurant was empty except for one other table. The meal was fine, my scallops were undercooked. What prompted me to write this review was that it was 9pm and time for coffee and dessert and we were told we couldn’t have coffee or a cappuccino because ‘we are now closed’ 9 pm on a Saturday night? You cannot get a coffee? Shouldn’t you be able to get a coffee until the last customer is completed? Then we seemed rushed out? Honestly had we know this, we would have gone elsewhere. Shame we will never return to this restaurant over this.

If you’re looking for an energetic bar scene with a large craft beer list and small plates, or a place to dine with your kids … then, frankly, this is not the place for you; however, if you’re looking to dine in an inviting bistro atmosphere where you can actually converse with your dining companions, choose selections from a thoughtful and reasonably priced menu and enjoy fabulous service … then check out Sermet’s Courtyard on Daniel Island … you’ll love it! We arrived a bit early so we took advantage of the warm weather by taking a short walk down to the Riverfront and got back in time for our reservation. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the hostess, seated at table in front of the window and was quickly approached by our server, Whitney, who reviewed the specials and took our beverage order. Joe chose a California Red and I selected a Washington Riesling. Each glass was $ 9.00 … and we were pleased with the pour. Mike had a gin and tonic made with Tanqueray and a local small-batch tonic(Jack Rudy) that he enjoyed. Right after we placed our order for appetizers, Whitney returned with a basket of hot bread and a small dish that she filled with wonderful olive oil that was enhanced in-house with sundried tomato, basil and garlic. It was different and was delish(evidenced by the three rounds we would go through during the meal). Michael loved his bowl of beef, barley and mushroom soup. He did not let me taste it but it was chunky, very full, piping hot and he said it was well worth the $ 6.00 cost. Joe’s house salad($ 6.00) came out in a nice sized bowl and was composed of fresh mixed greens, crunchy carrots, strips of red cabbage, slices of cool cucumber and tomato crude tossed in a light balsamic vinaigrette that gently dressed the greens. The PEI Mussels($ 12.00) was by far the BEST order of mollusks I have had in s very long time. The portion was large; the mussels were plump and juicy and the preparation was different and delicious … plenty of garlic, ginger and a fabulous lemon curry cream sauce. We passed on the specials and selected entrees from the menu. Joe and I were both intrigued with, and ordered, the Chicken Agnolotti … a combination of sautéed chicken, applewood bacon, crimini mushrooms, and Granny Smith apples tossed in a Marsala Parmesan cream sauce served over sweet potato agnolotti. I appreciated the option to order the small portion($ 16.00) after devouring probably a whole basket of bread by myself.( My hub ordered the regular size, still well priced at $ 18.00.) Mike ordered the small portion of Shrimp Coucous, also priced at $ 16.00. We appreciated Whitney’s skill in timing the courses, allowing us enough time to enjoy our appetizers with a few minutes to spare, before the entrees arrived. Mike’s dish was gorgeous … big, beautiful shrimp sautéed with mushrooms, red pepper, spinach and fluffy Coucous in a curry ginger coconut cream topped with Queso Fresco … and he devoured every mouthful with gusto. Frankly, our dishes were not as attractive due to the beige colored cream sauce … but, wow! … each mouthful was a flavor explosion. Needless to say, we were stuffed and very happy. Sermet’s Courtyard offered some yummy sounding house-made desserts(like peanut butter cheesecake) and next time, I will be sure to save room. The only less than perfect aspect of the evening was that it was hard not to notice the owner’s attention, almost doting, on many of the diners(probably ‘regulars) but he did not come over to our table which I thought was rather odd; however, Whitney was a delight. She was friendly, helpful and attentive, but not overly so. I don’t know why it took us so long to check out Sermet’s Courtyard … we loved it … and we’ll be back, real soon.

First time visitor with friends who just moved nearby. Reasonably priced meal, excellent food… had a petite filet, was prepared as requested and a nice cut of meat. The best part was our server, Whitney. Personable, friendly, mature beyond her relative youth and an excellent advocate for her employer. You can get great food in lots of different restaurants. Good service can save a poorly prepared meal or make an excellent the type of dining experience that brings you back. Our experience was the latter: excellent food, top notch service.

Wow! What’s not to love about a restaurant where the the owner is the artist In residence and the friendly staff serves you some phenomenal food. Cannot choose what we liked best. Short ribs, meatballs, scallop risotto or grilled eggplant. We need to return to try everything!!!

We had dinner twice at Sermet’s during our 5 day vacation in Charleston. This is a special place, where the owner is a real person, as opposed to the stuck up manager who comes and checks on you from a sense of duty. Sermet is down to earth, attentive, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. He noticed we finished the bread, and magically brought a second, and once a third round of fresh, warm bread, which went great with his special olive oil sauce. Both times I ordered the calamari appetizer, which is a must, and each time we literally licked the plates clean. We ordered different appetizers and entrees and all of them were just tasty and wonderful. We appreciated the attentiveness which never became intrusiveness. We will return next time we visit, as we returned this time around. Thank You, Sermet and staff!

I have been coming to Sermet’s for years and have just recently Appreciated the restaurants truly exceptional Experience. I am one that enjoys sitting at the bar and eating and getting to know the restaurants personnel. Well let me talk about the food first since that is what I am there to do. I love hearing about their specials, it’s like Christmas morning opening presents, and one is usually what I have been wanting. I love fish and my wife chicken and I am never disappointed. The chef is an artist. My drinks are always plentiful and the deserts are to die for. The staff is friendly and well trained. And you will always find Sermet the owner their out front. You know things are done right when the owner is involved I encourage all to try and you may want to make an reservation as the secret is out!!!
