Don’t eat there before a concert! We just did. After I ordered and paid and we sat waiting I was told it would be at least 40 minutes for coffee. I asked why and he told me they were short staffed, and they were running around doing other things. Also the sauce was out on the condiment bar as well as the ice for drinks so what everyone was doing i don’t know. Not interested in going back:(

You have to give this place a try. Chicken shawarma is my favorite. The layer of parsley on the sandwich adds so much to the taste.

Great food. I had the chicken shawarma sandwich and fries. It was excellent. My review is apparently too short so I’m adding nonsense now that will be of no help to you.

Ali Baba is a gem, offering a big assortment of Mediterranean dishes, including a smoky and rich baba ganoush, a rice salad, stuffed grape leaves, fatoush, saffron potato salad, and a lot of other good stuff. Everything I’ve had here has been great, except the gluten free pita bread. I am thrilled that it’s offered, and its not bad. It’s just not as good as the handmade dishes that accompany it. It does add $ 1 to your order. If I’m hungry for a pita, I would order it again. Ali Baba also has a pickles and olives bar to add to your meal, with yummy pickled turnips, pickled peppers, pickles, onions, and green or black olives. The bar is a real treat. The baklava is just fine, better than most. There is outdoor seating, which is pleasant. I’ve not dined inside the restaurant. Takeout is easy. The staff are helpful. Bathrooms are clean.

We love Ali Baba! We always get our office birthday lunches from here. I fax our order and call to make sure that they got it and no matter how many items are on it they always have it ready quickly. If I lived closer, I would eat here much more often. Always so good — I try to get something different every time(that doesn’t always happen) but I always must have the tabouli. I don’t know what it is about it, but I just love it! Everything is so fresh, and all of their prepared items are so good, it is so hard to pick something! I just can’t say enough, love it!

My wife has brought me food home a couple times from here and it’s always good, but today was the first time I went in to eat, and can’t wait to get back! The Mediterranean décor is neat but not over the top. Now the food, it’s over the top GOOD. When you walk in there are 3 large deli cases with all of the cold foods laid out for you to see and choose from. Everything you could want and more, it’s like where do I start?!? There are multiple fresh hummus selections, plenty of veggies, and lots of unique dishes you just do see often. I had a platter and tried 2 cold salads with hummus. The hummus is great, that could be a meal itself! I then had some cauliflower and a cabbage and spinach salad, also very good! The spices are all tasty and not to much or offensive. The freshness is great, the place is busy so nothing sits here long at all. There are the tradition gyro sandwiches and many more hot dishes to choose from. This place has been overlooked by me, I have some Making up to do so I may just eat here for the next week or so. True story.

It’s been a while since we had lunch here, so I don’t recall exactly what we ate, but we thought it was pretty true to the Middle East taste — yes I’ve spent some time in Turkey and Greece. The Houston Northcutt location is tucked into a small shop near Harris Teeter and convenient if you’re looking for true middle east that’s fast and inexpensive. We’ll be back soon.

Having not been here for a long time, my family and I were pleasantly surprised by how the place has changed since the restaurant’s renovation. They now have expanded seating and about a third of their menu is new. They now offer fatayers(Mediterranean pizzas), mujaddara(lentil rice), and Greek torte(a dessert) among many other new offerings. I especially liked their fatayers/pizzas. They offer about six different kinds of pizza although I got their Pastrami Fatayer which was absolutely fantastic. Besides the pastrami, it was topped with fresh feta and mozzarella, pickles, onions, and thousand island dressing on turkish boat shaped fresh dough. The crust tasted really good and seemed healthier than any other I’ve ever had. The owner has mentioned over the years that he’s always wanted to offer pizzas but he didn’t have the space for a pizza oven until the renovation. I’m so happy he can finally offer them because they are well worth the wait!

I wish there was an Ali Baba in West Ashley! I wouldn’t know about it without my co-workers who all love it. We’ve done a team lunch there and they have catered a few of our company’s parties. Sooooo good. Delicious gyros, chicken, hummus and salads. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

I can’t believe I’ve lived on Daniel Island since last July and ate lunch here today for the first time! I’ve eaten at every other restaurant on Daniel Island and can tell you this is the real deal!!! I never give 5 stars! I think I’ll be back tomorrow!!! I want to see if they will let me sample everything from cauliflower to the orzo! Well done…

I normally dont eat mediterranean food but I tried it today. I got a lamb kabob with greek pasta and cucumber salad. It was good but like I said, I may be a bad judge as I have very little to reference.

Oh, how I wish Ali Baba wasn’t all the way in Daniel Island! This is my favorite spot for Mediterranean food. You can’t go wrong with the gyro or any of the platters. Everything is great. I love the cauliflower and eggplant sides. They have three cases of prepared foods, and I haven’t found one thing I don’t like. They have expanded a little bit to add additional seating. It’s brighter inside the dining area now, and they’ve installed a lovely and ornate chandelier-like lighting fixture. We were told that they’ve just purchased a large pizza oven, so be on the lookout for pizzas on the menu soon. The staff is very friendly and service is fast. It’s definitely worth the haul to DI!

Hum, Flaf, Kibbi combo was OK as a sample platter. Kibbi was a bit under cooked(fried) but the Tabbouleh made up for it. Like the way the place is laid out and you can peruse the daily offerings. The atmosphere will take you overseas to a hot spot in Lebanon if you close your eyes, open your ears and take in a deep breath thru your nose.

I absolutely love this restaurant! I’m a Charleston local and I’ve been going to Ali Baba’s for five years now and have never been disappointed. My favorite meal is the spicy feta lamb gyro, with a side of dolma(the stuffed grape leaves — they come warm and are absolutely delicious)! I’ve sampled a few of the salads and desserts and have to say that everything tastes fresh and authentic. The baklava is a nice way to end a meal, although it’s just a bit more pricey than I expected at first, but is well worth the extra couple of dollars. This place is family owned, and everyone behind the counter is friendly and accommodating. Enjoy!

It won’t blow you away as the best Mediterranean meal ever, but it’s definitely satisfying. If you’re looking for, basically, a quick and simple Mediterranean lunch or dinner, this is your place. I recommend the grilled chicken panini and the chicken shawerma hummus. In short, it’s quick, has friendly staff, and serves delicious food.

Ordered the spicy beef and lamb gyro and was absolutely blown away by how delicious it was. I could eat that every day and never get tired of it. They also have some of the most delicious baklava in charleston by far. It always tastes fresh and never is too sweet or too dry. The service was great, the staff was friendly, and parking is extremely easy with it being located in a plaza. All in all I highly recommend this place for authentic Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. There is a large amount of variety to their menu and of what dishes I have had I have been impressed. The only food I have had there that didn’t impress me was the Turkish Döner Kebab because I expected a different type of meat(it was ground lamb rather than shaved). It was still good though, but there are many options I prefer to that one. Either way I highly recommend this place :)

Very nice place! You can tell it is locally owned because it isn’t super fancy and looks like a whole in the wall. It isn’t dirty! Just disorganized. The food was delicious and the waitresses were very friendly. I think they had outdoor seating, and the indoor seating was very spacious and clean. The food tasted wonderful and they had a wide selection of different items. I would be going back again for sure. They had a good selection for desserts, also. If you go in you can get carry out, done in, or you can buy food by the pound.

I really enjoy the Ali Baba location on Daniel Island! It is a great spot for lunch during the work week, and provides a large variety of items to choose from. I really appreciate being able to choose from a variety of side dishes, and the spiced cauliflower and hummus are what I always end up selecting with the gyro platter. Also, the combination of their hot sauce and the gyro meat is delightful!

Got a 4 side plate today. Was really in the mood for fresh Healthy food. I had the roasted chicken and veggies, the tabouli, spicy cabbage, and tunasi basmati. OMG! I don’t believe the day will come when I am disappointed in Ali Baba’s. Since we’ve moved here, this has been my BIGGEST food score. I’ve never had Mediterranean before these past 2 weeks. I’m so glad I tried it. If you want fresh, local, healthy, well thought out food, this is your place. Definitely my new favorite.

Their food is so good. Even though I get the same thing every single time I go there. I get the gyro platter. The gyro is so juicy and good. They give you a lot of food to fill you up. I try different sides mostly. But my favorite is the cucumber salad. Always clean and always busy.
