I feel bad that I should’ve been more psyched when I walked in for the first time yesterday. The outside doesn’t match what you’ll find inside! The chalkboard menu was a little overwhelming so I just asked for a great sandwich since I like everything. All of their bread is freshly baked and the sandwich was perfect! Problem is I left without asking what the name of the sandwich was that they made for me. No bother since I’ll probably do the same thing next week and hope for something just as unique and delicious. I actually suggested they make a «Chef Surprise» and put it on the menu so they can make what’s on their mind.

Tiny little place, locally owned. They have salads and sandwiches, and they make their own yummy bread. Definitely worth checking out for lunch. I don’t think they’re open for dinner. We went around 12:30 and it was pretty crowded and we sat outside at the picnic tables. The salads were a little uninspiring(sort of like what you might be served at a hippie café in a college town in the 1980s) but the bread was really good, and all the salad ingredients were fresh and tasty. Service was good and fast, and so good if you’re in a rush.

Truly not for breakfast! However veggie sandwich is awesome. The service was also superb. I did loved the quiche, but not enough for breakfast, so had to come back for an early lunch. The bread was very nice and soft, and the avocado with the sprouts, a perfect combination.

I was pleasantly surprised by this sandwich shop. The outside décor and location on busy Locust street don’t do this place and it’s delicious sandwiches justice. I enjoyed their famous veggie sandwich on their homemade honey wheat bread. I added smoked turkey to my sandwich. Everything was so fresh and tasty! The bread really is delicious and the sprouts, avocado, and tomato really made it a «good» veggie sandwich. I also want to add how filling and satisfying my sandwich was. I was so full from the veggie sandwich(add turkey) that I took my chips home with me. My husband had a loaded hotdog and also said it was delicious. This place is much fresher and more quaint than the generic sign and location would lead you to believe. I will definitely return and am going to suggest Café Express the next time we order in a group lunch at work.

Well what do we have here? A little hidden secret in the city of Davenport, IA. Good thing my co-worker told me about this place because I would’ve continued to zoom right past it. I didn’t even notice this place. Anyhoot, this place has a really, really good veggie sandwich and the bread is oh oh oh so tasty! What in the world!!! I love this sandwich and it’s very filling. I can’t even comment on the fruit salad! It’s wonderful as well and I always buy a lb to take with me. They put some type of orange sauce on it but I think it’s just the food coloring or orange Kool-Aid package that turns the juice orange. Whatever it is, it’s so yummy to my tummy!!! My goodness, if you’re in the area, this place is a must stop. I must warn you though, this place closes mad early and it’s such a shame. I guess they earn enough business to close at 3 p.m. and closed on Sunday’s. Shrugs shoulders but it doesn’t stop me from trying to make it there by 3 p.m. on the days I’m off early enough! The really good thing about this little spot is they send you $ 1 off coupons via text! I like those a lot and I’m sure to pay(literally) them a visit during the week of the coupon! I’m sold. This place will be missed.

Great box lunches. great breads, great selection of sandwiches. If you get the box lunch, it comes with a side(pasta salad, potato salad, cole slaw, or chips), a freshly baked cookie, and a soda… all for under $ 10. On a cold day, if you walk in, you can’t see inside until you get there, despite the tall windows, because the warmth from soups and baking goods within fogs up all the windows. I have tried a good variety of their sandwiches, and one of the things they have that I really like is the awesome olive(think pimento) spread. Their«sourdough» bread is more of a roll, somewhat dense and more easily called a thick sub roll than«sourdough» in my personal opinion. I do love their honey wheat bread. They also have a special ‘soup of the day’ everyday. I always enjoy my sandwich and its side, and I eagerly look forward to the cookie… just hoping I still have room once I’m done with the rest. They deliver too, if you have a large enough lunch order, but you have to order early, cuz they deliver early to avoid conflicting with their lunch rush. There’s plenty of seating… nothing fancy, but more than adequate. Sign up for text messages, and once a week on Mondays you will get a text with a dollar off of a specific sandwich, or a free side, or something along those lines. They also have a frequent flyers card, where after 10 stamps you get a free sandwich.

This is by far my favorite sandwich shop in the Quads. Their veggie sandwich on the homemade honey wheat bread is fantastic. Everyone should make a stop here for lunch sometime. Great place.
