Favorite place in the QC to grab Mexican from. Been here multiple times and I’m never been let down. The margaritas are great and pack a perfect amount of tequila. Their chips and salsa are good and I never can say no to a delicious side of queso for the table. My favorite thing to order is the California burrito(steak, chorizo, beans, rice, pico, lettuce, and queso). If looking for good Mexican food I would highly recommend Los Portales

Excellent. For lunch was served a healthy portion of chips, salsa, and queso dip. I ordered the lunch steak fajitas which came with 3 tortillas, steak, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, grilled onions and peppers, rice, and re-fried beans. I couldn’t finish everything. After a while I ordered some coffee and sat and did some work on my computer. The bill was less than $ 10.00. Serious. The service was awesome…10x the service I received at Chillies the day before. This place is a gem and the food was excellent. I can’t remember a time when I’ve had better value and friendlier service.

Not the best. I ordered take out twice from this place and both times, orders were wrong. The taste is mediocre. There’s definitely better options in the QCA.

We love this place! The menu selection is huge… almost too big! Tonight we tried the special Chipotle burrito. I had the chicken and my friend had the steak. The portion size was huge and the price was right! Both burritos were delicious… great service.

Tacos with Hawaiian sauce were amazing! Big portions and reasonably priced! 32oz beer for $ 4!

Had a great meal with the family. I recommend the California burrito! Bring your appetite because this is one huge plate of food which I failed to finish.

The staff is friendly and courteous. Live music played while we ate. I guess that they have to keep your mind off of the food. I ordered the chile rellenos, a hard shell beef taco and refried beans. Everything was cold. I had to send the plates back two times. They were just reheated(maye by microwave) not remade. The food is not that great but the marguaritas were okay.

Sitting at the bar here now and from the moment I walked in I enjoyed the environment. Every employee is working full speed while also being extremely friendly. They have their own culture here amongst the employees as well. The service and super friendly staff alone has made me give them 5 stars and I haven’t even eaten yet. They also seem to have very unique drinks here as well.

I loved my beef carnitas! There was also plenty to fill me up for a reasonable price. Our waiter was very friendly and treated us like we were«special».(But then, we are!) Will be coming back for sure!

The food here is always great(I love the carnitas tacos and choripollo) and the service is always fast and friendly. Reasonably priced and a great lunch spot because they get you in and out quickly.

Very disappointed in the food. I had enchiladas and they were very tasteless. Service was great, but the food was not good at all. It didn’t even look good.

Newer Mexican restaurant in the QC but the owner is no stranger the the QC, he is part owner with his brother of Azteca. They gave us excellent customer service and even topped off the night with free shots for everyone who wanted one in our party.

Davenport and the Quad Cities have a lot of choices when it comes to Mexican food. Some are fantastic, some are awful, some just kind of fall somewhere in between and are not notable for anything in particular. I’m afraid Los Portales falls into the latter category. In an already very competitive market, Los Portales really doesn’t add anything new. The menu reminds me very much of the Azteca restaurants as does their salsa. When my wife and I ate there this weekend, I ordered the poblano enchiladas and she ordered shrimp tacos. Her reaction was«meh». My enchiladas were fairly mediocre chicken enchiladas covered in what appeared to be a brown gravy that you would expect more to be covering mashed potatoes than anything else. It didn’t taste«bad», but I wouldn’t order it again. The service was ok. I did recognize one of the servers(maybe the manager) from the old Jalapeño’s and Azteca crew. The only thing that stood out about the restaurant was the building itself. They’ve done a very good job restoring a restaurant building that has been shuttered for quite a while. There just isn’t anything here that would make us want to go back. I would rather spend my money at Habanero’s or Los Rancheritas.

Great service and great food. Interesting though that the menu is the full Azteca menu almost exactly the same and then additional new menu items from Portales. It’s like a delicious merger of the two restaurants.

For being open for just a week they really seem to have their stuff together. Food was great and reasonably priced. Great service. I will be going back again.
