We ordered fajitas fom the lunch menu. $ 8. They also have fajitas on the Dinner menu for $ 5 more. Not a lot of flavor for the chicken fajitas. Wife said the steak fajitas taste like organ meat.(:-0 However they were large size size portions.

I love Azteca. One of the owners used to come to the gym I worked at, and is hilarious.(What’s up Gustavo?) I grew up in Phoenix, AZ and had the pleasure of having dozens of great authentic Mexican restaurants near by, and I rank Azteca right up there with any of them. They have something for everyone. Everything from 100% authentic Mexican cuisine, and they have some Gringo stuff if you want more of an American/Mexican dish. Their salsa is FANTASTIC. They don’t overload it with too much cilantro like some other places do. The atmosphere is great. Bright colored paint and decorations, a live mariachi band. Overall I am very satisfied, and would recommend it to anyone.

My friends and I went a couple of months ago and had a great experience. The staff was fun and friendly, our food was good and we got it fast, and prices were definitely reasonable. Ever since we keep going back sometimes more than once a week. Each time it’s been a good experience and the food has always been tasty. I would recommend this place to my friends!

Place is going downhill… Not happy. Texas Fajitas for 2 on Valentine’s Day had 5 shrimp in the whole skillet and a friend of mine had a craft single melted on their enchilada… Wow. That’s all I can say. I have not been pleased with anything the last year and a half that I have visited.

This location has excellent food, as good as the other Azteca places. Where it falls short is the service. We regularly end up ignored for long periods with empty drinks or needing a napkin or the check. We even get the wrong for sometimes. We have no such problems at other Azteca locations so we usually go elsewhere even though this one is closest.

The Good: Surprisingly authentic Mexican food, EXCELLENT service, bright & comfortable atmosphere. The Bad: Not many vegetarian options(not unusual for Mexican restaurants). My spinach burrito was literally just sauteed spinach in a tortilla, but the rice and beans were awesome, as was the homemade salsa. The Food: Delicious rice and beans, awesome homemade salsa & fresh chips. My boyfriend got the steak tacos — I normally don’t love steak but the flavor was incredible and the steak was perfectly cooked, it was delicious! The Service: Excellent. The second we walked in we were greeted by a line of waiters, one of whom promptly led us to our table and chatted with us while someone else immediately dropped off waters, chips and salsa. Fast and friendly service put our experience on another level, we were so happy to have found this spot while traveling across the country! We felt welcome in this huge, colorful, comfortable restaurant. As we were eating a family of ten was seated next to us. At some restaurants large tables have a hard time getting seated without fuss — at Azteca, they were warmly welcomed and when their food was ready, our waiter dropped off every single plate to the right person at the huge table with no hesitation, I was impressed! Overall: If you’re traveling through Iowa, this is an awesome place to kick back and enjoy authentic Mexican food with great service and atmosphere.

Not sure why this place is so highly rated, I’ve always found it underwhelming. Been here several times due to members of my wife’s family liking it. Fajitas are always salty and overcooked; just not very good. The QC has a lot of Mexican restaurants but none of high quality. Also, don’t plan on carrying on a conversation at your table as the place is incredibly noisy.

The place looked it would serve pretty authentic Mexican food. I ordered the fajita quesadilla. It was good and the portion was huge. It was a tad in the salty and greasy side. The quesadilla also looked very home style. I was looking more at the regular American style quesadilla with triangles on my plate than the half moon kind. I should have ordered the more authentic dishes instead of the mainstream. Overall, food was good and service was great as well. I’ll come back and try other things on their menu.

It was good. Typically Mexican restaurant! Good good! Margaritas were ok. Cheese dip was good. Service was good very friendly! Couple of issues, but you’ll have that! Overall it’s worth a try. Will return but only after we try the other Mexican restaurants first!

This is one of the few 3-star joints that will keep me coming back for more every time. My mind says 3-stars, but thinking of a warm bowl of Queso Fundido my belly says 5 all the way. But alas, reality. There are hoards of underagers looking for adult bevs– expected at a place like this. There are tribes of large people looking for their fill on above average mexican food… This place is always busy with a diverse crowd, sometimes rowdy, and always returns the same result. Extremely casual is the atmosphere– loud is the noise level. Prices are fair– drinks are fairly strong(sometimes lethal)… and the food is tasty. Its all very standard for a go-to mexican place. No complaints at all… But its not so mind blowing that I need to go throwing 4⁄5 stars at it!

Can’t decide what was better — the food or the service. So good! We ate disappointed that we had another three hours of driving to do, preventing us from trying the margaritas!

It’s hard to decide which items in the menu to write about because there are so many and so many are delicious! If I have to pick a few top picks, the fajitas are the best fajitas anywhere I’ve eaten, the queso dip is delish and the cheese enchiladas are great! The chips and salsa is unique, tasty and unlimited. The only thing I didn’t love was the guacamole — a little bland. But, with the salsa and queso, that’s ok.

Azteca is my go-to place in the QCA for Mexican food. Somewhere along the way, the wonderful residents of Iowa decided that Mexican food should consist of super bland beef tacos in flour tortilla and corn hard shells, and they like it that way! Thank goodness Azteca offers traditional mexican plates such as, arroz con pollo, fajitas, carne asada, and my favorite, what i always order, the Pollo Jalisco. Chicken with onions, mushrooms and cheese sauce. Most entrees are served with tasty rice and beans which fill you up! Guests are served complementary chips and salsa when they sit down, the chips are good, and the salsa is above average, my wife says I shouldn’t judge salsa though, because I always add a bunch of the green habanero hot sauce to it.(What ca I say? Heat is my thing!) I read that someone had health concerns with this particular restaurant. My wife and I eat at Azteca once or twice a week, every week and we have never gotten sick. The food is great, the waiters are kind, efficient, and good at what they do. If you are looking for a great sit-down Mexican restaurant in the QCA, then I recommend making the drive to Azteca! If you found this review helpful, please take a second to compliment it, rate it as helpful and become a fan!

BEWARE* My entire family came down with food poisoning after eating here! My husband had a «super burrito» with chicken, I had a vegetarian #1 and my son had shrimp tacos. We’ve eaten here before but recently I could taste something off. The service was off as well which is unexpected for this place. I will never be back after the 48 hours my family and I’ve endured.

My favorite Mexican joint in davenport. Salsa is good, sometimes gotta wait for a new bowl but worth it. Portions are adequate, staff is usually friendly but food is always good.

The atmosphere was cute, standard Mexican restaurant atmosphere, plus a fish tank for the kiddos to look at. The salsa was super watery and lacking flavor, I was not a big fan. Plates were super hot, which was announced, but also should be considered a liability! I had a kid with me and I was horrified he’d burn himself, I made him wait a few minutes to eat because of it. My enchiladas arrived with big tomato slices like you’d find on a sandwich instead of diced, which was different, but I was concerned that my entire dish was smothered in sour cream and sauce and guac, I was wondering what was hiding in there… most other restaurants I’m familiar with plate these things nicely and off to the side instead of slopping them all over the dish. My husband’s carne asada tacos were pretty damn gross. SUPER greasy and the meat was just… off. Trust me, I’m Mexican. I know when a taco is bogus. Oh, and no horchata(only on certain days?) and super limited selection of Jarritos. Boo. I just really wasn’t all that impressed with this place. Came here based on Unilocal reviews, my first Mexican dining experience in the Quad Cities, and it was no bueno. Probably won’t be back, though I will say the staff was nice and I am sorry to them for my bad review.

I wasn’t all impress with the location; however, I was pleasantly surprise with the food. I have the steak and chicken quesadillas lunch special and it was yummy. The nachos and salsa were very good too. The service was meh… very average, nothing special. I actually found it to be very disorganized. When we got there and were waiting for a table the guy didn’t seem to know where to place us. I looked around and there were a lot of tables available, but who know… After several minutes someone else just told us where to sit but he didn’t take us to the table he just pointed the table at us and we were like OK, I guess that’s the table. So it was kind of awkward but thankfully the meal made up for the mediocre service.

Azteca has to be the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Their service is always so friendly, the food is great, and the drinks a delish! They always take very good care of us. The cheese dip for the chips is really good. If someone in your party has a birthday — let them know! They will bring out a sombrero, sing to them, and a shot of tequila!

I always make sure to come here everytime I’m in the QC area. The food is delicious, cheap, and the staff is very prompt and friendly. I never have to ask for a refill of chips or soda. The chili relleno is amazing, and this is the only place I can find where its more like a dip than a bug stuffed pepper.
