Absolute crap… they send coupons out last week for the Davie location and today we try to get lunch and the place is now shut down. … i won’t waste a penny with this restaurant chain EVER.

This is a buffet so just as with a restaurant menu some items may be more appealing than others. At dinner there is a carving station with turkey breast, ham, roast beef and steak. There is always at least one or two fresh vegetables that are cooked to perfection. Then again there will be some other choices that are not so great and most likely canned veggies. There was decent pot roast and very good fried chicken. Salads are fresh and plentiful. There is a taco bar and pizza as well. I did not try those. There were a couple of seafood selections. Deserts are good but not gourmet. There are a lot of drink choices. The cashier was competent and polite. The servers cleared our plates quickly and were very friendly. No complaints there. The décor does require some updating. If you are looking to eat decent food in large quantities then try this place. If you want to «dine» and or impress someone then this may not be the best place for that. All in all, for around $ 14 for unlimited appetizers plus dinner, drinks and multiple deserts this is a bargain. Kids cost less and they seem to love eating there.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Came here tonight for the first time not by choice for me as I don’t prefer buffets. Nonetheless, I was hungry but lost my appetite quickly. The salad bar looked decent and then I saw a putrid display of food. Everything I attempted to eat was either cold, runny, or had some weird consistency and taste to it. Mashed potatoes like cardboard, mac and cheese like runny dishwater. Meatloaf was cold and gross. Stuffing was barely edible and roastbeef was chewy, tasteless… and cold. I wonder why they call this place«home town» when the food is like that from a homeless soup kitchen. I felt ill after leaving and will never be back. The other customers looked like«the people of walmart» so that explains why there still in business. Just disgusting

This restaurant is over priced for no reason. The selection is meek and most of the entrees over 80% consist of chicken. Not to mention the cashier before hand can’t even get simple math right. She seen that I was with 2 children and 1 senior as well as 2 adults including me and proceeded to charge me for 3 seniors and 2 adults totally ignoring the coupon which I told her I was going back to my car to retrieve. If my daughter hadn’t check her on her mishap, I would have been out $ 20. SMH. They definitely need their menu revamped, pronto. this place is best for seniors, like really elderly that don’t really want that big of a meal just to go grab something to eat with friends. Blah, Blah.

Food was bland! Not a lot of options and it was $ 14 per person for Mac and cheese chicken. I won’t ever come here again.

Used to be good, But we wondered why no one was in the restaurant. The food was the issue. Cold, dry and just bad. Both me and my wife became ill from the food.

To be completely honest I only come here because it’s the only buffet I know of,(since I just recently moved to the area and the closest Golden Corral is in Pines.) It’s alright, kinda pricey, especially since they always have the same foods. I went in today for dinner with my Dad and the«Manager Ambassador» was screaming across the restaurant for a pen… ridiculous? Other than that the staff is VERY nice, it could be a little cleaner, but then again it’s a buffet. A solid 3 stars.

The food was not bad for a buffet. But the entire staff was awesome. Everyone was friendly and polite. I was impressed. For me, it was a change of pace and different. The location is great.

So i decided to give this place a shot i was not impressed as soon as i walked through the door for a home style cooking buffet it should smell like grandmas kitchen, instead it smells like a dirty rag wet clothes and a mens room. The food was very bad oily, greasy, just awful and they charge $ 15 a person for a limited selection menu. The cups plates and silverware all seemed dirty. I post alot of reviews throughout the country on Unilocal trust me people this is a no go my stomach already hurts. Just go eat somewhere else.

I’ve seen HomeTown Buffet’s ads on TV so I figured I’d give it a try. Oh, how I wish I had my $ 13 back. The restaurant is organized like any other buffet. You pay the cashier and serve yourself food and drinks. I’ll come back to the food quality in a moment. Then you sit down, eat your food. If you beg one of the people who is wearing a nametag sincerely enough you may,(mind you I said may) have your plates taken away/get any other service you may need. I get that at a buffet you are not going to receive the same level of service that you would at a sit-down restaurant, but none is unacceptable. Frankly, if you can get an employee/manager’s attention, they act like they are moving the Earth to listen to you. Okay, now that I finished venting about that, let me tell you about the food: There are about five or six«islands» that each contain a few steam trays of food. The thing is, the way steam trays work is usually there is some sort of heating element beneath the food. Not here. All the food was cold. Mmm, what sounds better than chilly fried chicken and pork. Other Unilocalers mentioned that the plates and silverware were dirty. I didn’t notice anything egregious, but none of the servingware was shiny or pristine looking. All in all, the food was reminiscent of an underfunded hospital’s cafeteria. The food is edible, but just barely so. Save yourself some disappointment and money and go somewhere else.

Yeah, I admit it I like this place. Usually we will venture to the Hollywood location but we decided to try the Davie branch for this moment of indulgence. It’s a buffet, you get what you pay for. The price for dinner is cheap($ 14), and lunch is($ 10) so it’s a pretty good value. The main difference is the presence of a carving station at dinner. There are 5 stations, with a selection of hot entrees, cold dishes, salads and desserts. Most of the items seem fresh and flavorful. There is always staff circulating around the buffet lines, rotating the dishes. It’s not haute cuisine, but it doesn’t taste like Sysco either. Standouts include the strip steak which was on the carving station, believe it or not it was a perfect Med Rare, The roasted acorn squash, and on the dessert end the«homemade» banana pudding. Sure there are the usual limp green beans and carrots, but the salad station is varied, crisp and fresh. If you want an inexpensive meal, that is perhaps better than McD but you don’t want to spend a fortune give Hometown Buffet a shot. On a side note, both locations are similar, Davie seems a little newer and maybe a little cleaner.

I’ve come to this place twice now, and trust me it’s due to family brunches close to my grandma’s place. The décor: If this place wants to survive, it needs some serious upgrade in their chairs and tables. Hometown does feel«homey» but it needs some spring cleaning. It has this really musty, gym-locker, someone-hasn’t-taken-a-shower smell. It really clashed with my food. I notice some of their glasses and utensils are not properly cleaned, or rather, there’s still some specks of old food from previous users… ummm ew. The food: In buffets, it’s definitely a hit or miss. I recently went to their breakfast and I thought their hash browns were phenomenal. Cripsy outside texture, perfect crunch. They had some great smoked sausages, good biscuits, gravy and country fried steak. Then we transition to good scrambled eggs, alright french toasts. Then you have some of their microwavable soggy waffles, burned brownies, and a poor excuse of their bread pudding. So again, choose wisely in your food folks. So meh, I feel ok with Hometown Buffet. But you wouldn’t catch me going here by choice.

I would give it ZERO stars but It won’t let me. First of all the quality of food was cafeteria grade. There was absolutely no love put in while making the food. My fork smelt odd, the coleslaw was ROTTEN. I’ve had explosives diarrhea since I left. The service was nice but we’re not going for shits and giggles were coming for food!!! even if someone paid the tab I still wouldn’t go back. This is not a joke

This place was dirty. I went though many plates on the buffet until I got a clean one. I shower them to two of the servers and they acted like they could care less. I ate very little and left. The dirty plates and them not caring tells me it was also dirty in the kitchen. $ 13 and got grossed out. They passed by with coupons for next visit. I left them, I will not return.

Typically, I’m not a fan of buffets, because I feel obligated to eat more to get my «money’s worth.» The food was downright decent and had a nice variety. Most of the meals did have a home-made feeling, like steak and meatloaf. It really depends what you expect from a buffet. I could see myself going back.

Short burst of patrons come and go. Plenty of available seats/booths. The buffet selection is so so. When I eat here every couple of months there seems to be no food type rotation during the week. The waitresses are nice and friendly and readily available to clear the table. My lunch price was $ 11.43 w/tax(soft drink bar, etc. included). $ 8.49 price if you drink water.
