Very nice Sichuan Food in Davis with reasonable price. Services are very friendly. 10% off if you pay with cash.

Loved the walnut chicken years ago. Yesterday it was sub-par. The general chicken was the worst I’ve ever had, and worst of all, the chicken noodles had a strong seafood smell and taste. Everyone who walked into the house commented on the fish smell right away. Had to toss it.

I have been patronizing this restaurant for 10 years, but will no longer. The restaurant has new management and the service has become terrible. The new wait staff are slow, serve unclean dishes, and are rude. The original waitresses still recognize us and say hi, but the new staff have disappointed on multiple occasions now and we will not be returning. I am sad to say that after 10 years of eating here, I can no longer recommend this restaurant to friends.

Completely unacceptable service. I was a regular customer at Hunan’s for a full year. Before my last visit, 3 – 6 of my friends would go every Monday and Tuesday. They had cheap prices and quick service, making it an ideal place for a lunch downtown on a work day. I have never felt as dissatisfied with a dining experience as I did on my last visit. After being seated, it took them 15 minutes to take our order and acknowledge our existence. After ordering the food took another 15 minutes to come out(it usually takes 5 minutes). My dish came out first, and I started eating, as we do with the friends I eat with. I finished my entire meal before the second dish came out 15 minutes later. The last meal came out 5 minutes after this. Needless to say, we were dissatisfied with the service at this point, but understood that places can have off-days, willing to keep our weekly lunch routine for the future. We always tip 15−20% at this place, but decided against it on this day. When we are signing our receipt, our server(maybe owner?) confronts us about the tip or lack thereof. He tells us to pay a tip because they serve us and deliver the food. We tell him we are regulars, the service today was completely unacceptable, and we usually tip 15−20%. His response, «I’ll remember your faces; I don’t want to see you in here again». He certainly won’t. tl;dr Weekly regulars received very bad service. Didn’t tip for once. Told not to come back after eating there weekly for 12 months.

Food is cheap but their service was not worth it. Maybe because it was busy but we asked for water like 4 – 5 times and took about 25 mins to get it. And then to put it even worse… they ask for tip. And they put the bill on our table before we even got the water we asked for.

This place has excellent food. However, the service here is terrible! Our waitress brought out our large amount of food then 15 seconds later brought the check. Absolutely unacceptable. Then as we were eating we ordered some more things, the waitress then with an attitude took the check given to us way to early to adjust the bill by writing over the numbers already there. Then due to the rudeness we tipped $ 0. The waitress basically demanded a tip and said it was necessary if paying with card. Summary: good food, horrible service.

Yummy! I was passing by today and saw that they now have an additional SiChuan menu! I immediately went in to check out what they have and they have lamb dishes! Without hesitation, I ordered the green onion lamb and asked them to make it slightly spicy. Overall, it was delicious! The lamb could have been slightly more tender, but it was very enjoyable. The dish actually smelled like lamb too! I will be coming back to try out the other dishes. I hope they have lamb dishes as part of their lunch special. This could be the only place in Davis with legit lamb. Although, I guess I cannot make that claim yet just bc I have not tried lamb at the other places that just popped up in town.

This would be my favorite Chinese restaurant in whole Sacramento area! After it opened, I don’t eat in any other Chinese restaurant. All of my friends love it! I’m fraud soon they won’t have enough space to treat coming consumers. Try the traditional Chinese dishes! Spicy and tasty!

The food wasn’t that good. It wasn’t even decent. Our waitress was super rude. Don’t go here. You can find better quality inexpensive food else where.

Nice Sichuan/spicy place to go after their recent owner/chef change. Their house special pork belly and spicy cold dishes(chicken in chili source, cold spicy beef and tendon and etc.) are what you definitely want to try if you like Sichuan food. The owner is really nice and putting lots of heart to make this place better.

I started to go to Hunan in 2001 with my then girlfriend(now wife) and we loved their food. The service was never stellar, but the food always hit the spot. I went yesterday for takeout(3÷15÷16) and saw that they were under new management, and I’m sorry to say that the food did not work for me. Many of my favorites were terrible. The hot and sour soup was bland and neither very hot or sour. It also had about half the amount of pork that it used to. My beef chow fun with black bean sauce had tons of burnt onion in it making it taste terrible. The fried rice was super plain and lacked any flavor. My wife said the chow mein was too peppery(white pepper). My mongolian beef did not have that rich delicious dark brown sauce, but instead had an onion flavored(which was the only flavor) gravy. I’ll probably end up giving them another chance in a few months, maybe they just need to hammer things down some. Edit: Tried to eat leftover fried rice from previous night(I only ate a bite or so) and today the rice smelled rancid. I put It directly in the fridge after dinner last night. For rice to go bad after one night means it was borderline not good in the first place. Not sure if I’ll return now.

Lots of food at a good price. I go to Hunan for their lunch special, and although I wouldn’t consider it in any way real Chinese food, Hunan does a good general chicken. Their lunch special has whatever enter you order along with chao mien, your choice of fried rice or white rice, a cream cheese fried wonton, and your choice of soup or salad. Overall, the food is decent, but the price is really what sells it. You get so much food for the price, and that alone makes it worth. As a friend of mine would say, you can«taste the cheapness» and that is something every college student luuuvs. Overall, just go for the lunch special. Lunch special goes from 11 am — 2 pm.

So, I don’t know what traditional Chinese food tastes like, but I’m very well aware of what America’s version of Chinese food is, and this place delivers! If you’re familiar with Davis Chinese food locations, it’s better than Panda Express and tastes like Golden Sun, but not quite as fresh as I’ve experienced Four Seasons to be. AND, you can sit down here and get some limited table service(you refill your own water and tea from the pots on the table). Came here with a group of 7 for lunch on a rainy weekday, and we got seated right away. I was very impressed with their cheap«happy luncheon»(as they call it on the menu)! There are about twenty different entrée options, including chicken, beef, squid, and shrimp choices. Almost half of the items have their«spicy» symbol, but I ordered the Chicken with Hot Garlic Sauce and didn’t notice any spice at all(and I’m serious when I say I can’t take anything very hot). Seriously, this place gives you a bang for your buck! Each entrée is about $ 6 – 8 and comes with the following: –hot tea –fortune cookie –entrée –fried or steamed rice –chow mein –salad(iceberg lettuce with crunchy toppings) or soup –cream cheese wonton –tiny orange slice Look at all those items — and they don’t skimp on the portions! Granted, all the guys finished their meals, but the girls still had food on their plates. I didn’t hear anyone complain about being hungry either! All the items were just average-tasting American Chinese food, but I was pretty satisfied. I didn’t care for the hot-sour soup, but I don’t usually, so that wasn’t surprising. The Chicken with Hot Garlic Sauce came with some veggies, some of which I’ve never seen before. The Lemon Chicken was like katsu covered in a sweet lemon sauce– it was like dessert chicken. Basically overall, you get to eat a bunch of different things, so what’s not to love and appreciate? The only thing I didn’t care for was that the table and lazy susan didn’t seem properly wiped down or cleaned. I could see some smudges and grease stains, but oh well, we didn’t eat off the table! So, come here if you’re on a budget, aka in college, which I’m not anymore — but hey, I’m not one to pass on a lot of good, cheap food every once in awhile!

If Ding How and the supermarket had a baby, this would be it: kinda greasy spoon but well-made entrees on the cheap. For under $ 7(pre-tax/tip), I ordered the shrimp with garlic sauce lunch special. It came out with some grocery-store style chow mein, a cream cheese filled won ton(?), an orange slice(???), a cup of hot and sour soup(nice!), fried rice(had other options) and the shrimp dish. And tea. And a fortune cookie. Yes, I said that right– under $ 7, but add tax and tip. I’m full.

We had some Hunan take out the other day. When they moved from their original upstairs location nearby to the current location, we went as a family one day, but I wasn’t impressed. For this take out encounter I was impressed. Maybe eating out of containers helps. But we will try Hunan again.

3 words: Motherfucking lunch special! For $ 6.75 you can get tea, rice, chow mein, soup, fried crab cream cheese wontons, oranges, and your choice of the main entrée. Holy shit this is my officially my favorite lunch special by far. I’ve been here several times, and I’ve loved every dish I tried from the honey walnut prawns to the Mongolian beef.

Dinner with the family at this restaurant was a joy. The dimly lit restaurant was very quiet and clean. The place was not too busy but was large enough to have a large crowd. We got complimentary Spicy sour soup to start with. The Sesame chicken, Curry shrimp, Vegetable fried rice, fried fish and vegetables were all good. There was enough to have seconds to take home. The portions were large, the flavor was good and the service was very hospitable.

Terrible service, and mediocre chinese food. I’d only come for the lunch special which comes with an additional soup or salad to your entrée and little cheaper than dinner prices. Service: once you step foot, the waiter/host rushes you to the max. He won’t even greet you when you enter or leave the restaurant, he’ll just bring you to the table and drop the menus on the table and dip. What do you want to drink? Default water cups come out. Want a togo box? Don’t expect to get one by sitting down within 15 minutes. When asking for your food orders, they are impersonal, meaning they don’t really care about you or making small talk, which is pretty rude service. Overall, I’d only eat here in a rush because I dislike their service and their food is decent for a college students wallet.

Cheap Chinese food for a college students budget. This review is only for their lunch since that’s the only time I’ve eaten here. They offer lunch specials for around $ 6 – 7 that includes a bowl of soup, one cream cheese fried dumpling, a slice of orange, a fortune cookie, a side of chow mien, a choice of either plain rice or fried rice, and whatever you choose as your side dish which determines the price. I’ve only gotten orange chicken, which is my favorite at Chinese restaurants. It’s not bad! One order is a good sized portion for one person. The guys that I go with finishes their plate, while I don’t clean my plate off completely but don’t have enough to take home(just for reference). I wish they offer real tea instead of tasteless water down teabags. It’s quiet place with plenty of table. Never had to wait. Tables can be cramped.
