Man, another old stomping ground closed! Pasta? was one of the places I used to frequent at night during my undergrad days at UCD when my friends were either bouncing or DJing. Some nights it wasn’t too packed so I could just chillax with my buddies. Other nights it was extremely packed where another friend would have to help being a bouncer. Had decent drinks and a nice patio area to get fresh air when it got too packed.

We love this restaurant! Their service is fantastic and food is great. I usually get the Chicken(pollo) plate that comes with vegetable and potatoes. They have no problem substituting spinach for the potatoes without an extra charge. They serve bread before the meal with olive oil and balsalmic vinegarette. Yummy! We would be considered regulars.

I haven’t been here for food, but only for drinks. Being a college student, I came here on a Thursday night and the crowd was non-existent. No worries, empty floors don’t scare me away. My friends and I ordered AMFs and a Sex on the Beach. The drinks weren’t that great tasting. We ordered different drinks so we knew the bad taste was consistent! We never even finished them because they were too bitter from the alcohol. Sadness. We stayed for about 30 min and headed out to another bar in the area because it got too boring.

I give credit for the wait staff here, they are extremely patient and friendly. But the food is a no to me. We had Ravioli Della Casa, Pasta with tomato sauce & Bistecca Alla Griglia… the Ravioli was the only 1 dish we enjoyed. The tomato sauce in the pasta was really sour, my mom couldn’t eat it at all. On the other hand, the sauce in the Bistecca Alla Griglia was very salty. Once the sauce tastes«wrong», they’ll ruin ur entire dish… it’s the case here. =(

$ 10 for a lunch whole wheat pasta(pesto!), a caesar salad, and a soft drink? I’ll take it! I’d like to check this place out for dinner and drinks!

I only went here once, but the salmon pasta was really good. It had some sort of orange sauce I couldn’t explain with dill on top and the salmon was perfect with the fettuccine. I liked it so much I got the same dish at the Palo Alto Pasta Q months later. The bread and EVOO are good too as is the service. I recommend this place for great pastas.

Man, these Davis kids are hard to please. 2.5 stars average? Service was good(although the waiter seemed a bit overeager to take away our unfinished dishes), and so was the food. Ambiance? Not bad. I’d say 80% of the large group of us ordered sauteed fish with tomato sauce, with roasted potatoes and steamed vegetables. By now, I’ve forgotten what kind of fish it was but it was tasty and of a good size. The tomato sauce was decent although nothing special. The roasted potatoes were quite good and the vegetables were amazingly delicious,. especially considering that they were steamed(I think). Desserts sounded amazing too, but alas – I was whisked away before I could try any. So, maybe it’s just the nightlife that sucks here. I see nothing wrong with the food.

This review is soley based on the BAR and NIGHT club, I have never tried the food here but knowing what goes on during the bar hours makes me not want to… Before when Sogas used to be the place to be, Pasta was a rather enjoyable atmosphere. Never too crowded and they had drink specials if you got there before 12. But now it seems as though the old Sogas crowd migrated here. Thursday nights are usually super crowded, the«dance floor» is jam packed with sweaty drunk people. One of the thing i dislike the most is how small the bar is! If Pastas really want to be a sucessful joint and make money off their night crowd, they should really expand the bar area. At times it will take up to 30 minutes just to order a drink! Ridiculous! thats why my friends and I prefer to go to Froggies or Woodstocks for drinks first. Overall, this is an okay place if you enjoy drunk dancing and dont mind getting stepped on or bumped into every 2 minutes! Also ladies beware the bathroom line is gruesomely long!

Pastas has been around for a long time and it’s always the spot to go to on Thursday nights. Lots of Asian people. Because of no cover, and the guaranteed chance that you’ll run into someone, this place is good. They have a big, nice patio area outside you can sit in when it gets too hot inside. I don’t think you can smoke a stoge in this area though, you’ll have to actually get off the premises. The bouncers are usually nice and not too rough, they’re just doing their jobs. I wish that bar area was bigger so it would be easier to get a drink. I can get crowded here. I feel like there just enough room to dance though. The side of the restaurant where the bar isn’t is usually wide open. The DJ is alright, not the best, but good enough to grind on someone. Come here on Thursday to get it right get it tight. Long Island Iced Tea?

When UC Davis students turn 21, this is where they go on thursday nights. One of downtown Davis’ «many» attractions. It’s actually not that bad. It’s designed alot better then Sogas and it can get pretty cracking on some nights. DJ’s are better then Sogas and drinks are just about the same price. I hate the whole plastic cup thing, but whatever. Why am I mentioning Sogas so much? Because you will see the same people walking back and forth from Pasta and Sogas. LAME! haha.

Oh boy, I do not dig this place. Food quality is no good and service is horrible. Add in the expensive price? You’ve got 3 strikes you’re out pasta. Even the name casts some doubts. Pasta? I’ve pasta with salmon here before for a friend’s birthday, the pesto was not fresh, and the salmon bits were so small that you could not taste salmon. Furthermore, the waiter asked if we wanted chopsticks; I kid you not. I came here a second time for another birthday, and the dish was incredibily small. I think one thing can be said, no more birthday’s here. By the way, at night it opens up to a dance floor. That, isn’t that great neither.

This place was a surprise. I’m definitely glad I didn’t Unilocal this place beforehand. It’s definitely worth a shot. I went a few days ago and found the ambiance very welcoming and the waitress extremely courteous. She gave us plenty of time, but not too long of a wait, to look at the menu and contemplate over the items. The food was great. The prosciutto panini was delicious. The prosciutto gave enough saltiness and the mozzarella was nice and warm and gave that oozing-effect when you pulled the panini away. The ravioli with the pink sauce was delicious as well. Nothing was bland or lacking flavor. The portions were great. Enough to make you full, but not too much where you think«Crap…now I have to pack this home.» Definitely, give it a try. It’s a cute place with great food.

I came here because I love their patio. I had a salad and the flank steak, I wish there was more steak and it said it was served with vegetables. When I got my dish it was a huge mound of spinach, that is not vegetables, i mean it is a veggie but that is not what I expected and had I known I would have asked for something else. My mom likes spinach though and even she thought it was bad spinach, probably frozen. EWWW, even worse.

Pasta? Huh? So…a group of my friends came here to eat today during lunch and there is no other word except YUCK.(and maybe«Never-coming-here-again») We were seated promptly since they were pretty empty. We got a basket of some of the best sourdough bread I have had and I was happy eating that for the entire meal. The actual entrees came out fairly quickly but no one in our group enjoyed their food. We ordered the spinach ravioli(which only had 6!!!), rigatoni bolognese(dish almost reminded me of chef boyrdee), spaghetti tarantina(tomato sauce way too sour and calamari was too fishy tasting…), and some other secondi dishes that were not great either. All in all, this place had very good service but food was not to par. I will not come here again. After eating here, I think the cooks should be asking themselves«Pasta? What is that?»

Interestingly enough, going through people’s reviews, no one ever wrote about what happens to pasta once dinner time is over and it becomes a club. In fact, i don’t think i ever went there during their normal business hours, so i can comment on the food or the wait staff. I can tell you about how freakin crazy it was with all the people trying to pack into the dance floor. When i was in Davis, this place had opened not too long ago and at that time there was still room on the dance floor to actually dance and there wasn’t a huge line to get in, nor was there a cover. Later on was when it started to become more like cantina. Some of my best memories were there. In fact one of my last college nights out was at pasta with all my friends and we danced and drank like maniacs. Drinks were relatively good, although the lines were massive at the bar. The music was okay and i believe you could actually request music and the DJ would play it. The crowd was pretty awesome as well. All in all it was pretty okay. Nothing to be super excited about. I haven’t been back to Davis in a while, but i hope they didn’t stop their clubbing nights.

I’ve been thinking it was called Pasta? all this time until I saw that Pasta Q has the same address. We came here since I wanted some Italian food. i wanted to go back to Caffe Italiana but BF wanted to try somewhere else since I’ve been there before. There was probably 2 people in here during lunch hours. Really slow so I didn’t expect much from it. Definitely not better the Caffe Italiana and the food was not something I would crave for again. I had the Penne Norcina($ 9.95). It’s penne pasta with Italian sausage, mushrooms and peas in a cream sauce. Portions were good for $ 9.95 but it was lacking flavor. I could of probably made a better pasta dish then this and cost cheaper too. BF got the lunch special, which is for($ 9.95?) you get salad, pasta, and a soda. He got the Cesar salad with fettucini alfredo. they get you there with the special! The pasta was so plain looking. They could of at least put some kinda green garnish or SOMETHING to give it some color contrast! Service was friendly though and parking was easy. Probably wouldn’t come here again.

Okay, before I go any further: I want to throw this out. I am ONLY reviewing the bar side of things/nightlife at Pasta Q. Seriously, don’t go here. My friends and I were here at Pasta Q on the first and we were all excited cuz you could hear the dj from down the street and it didn’t seem as crowded as Froggy’s. HOWEVER, once we went in, it was easy to see why they were so dead. First of all, their dj was shit; he was playing crap from the 80s and 90s… c’mon when was the last time you heard LL Cool J in the club?!? Whatever right? Dancing is dancing… except when we got drinks. THEYSERVEDUSDRINKSINPLASTICCUPS. I could not get over this. Seriously?!? What kind of crap place gives you drinks in plastic cups?!? AND they charged us $ 8 for shots of henn in little plastic cups. When I say little plastic cups, I mean those little things that you put ketchup in when you go to like In-N-Out or whatever. My friends and I are big on shots and I’ve NEVER had a smaller shot than that… and I’ve never been charged that much for a shot of henn. Shoot. Damn we should have just gone to Soga’s. :(Pasta Q, you only get one star… and that’s only because I can’t give you a zero.

I went to Pasta? when it first opened in Davis, and have only been back to the restaurant twice. I also took my bf to this restaurant for his birthday, and he said the food was«okay.» Anyway, I usually order the Fettuccini al Salmone platter. The noodles come in orange sauce that is supposedly looks like a salmon color. The small bite pieces of salmon is good, and the green peas give the dish some color. My sister ordered a pesto dish before. The pesto was pretty good. The bad part about the restaurant is the thick sauce. I have no idea why the sauce needs to be so thick. It’s hard to eat the pasta with the thickness. The dishes are cheaper than Macaroni Grill and Olive Garden. However, I would rather go to Olive Garden for tastier pasta dishes.

One of the OK restaurants in Davis. In my Italian class. all my classmates said it Pasta Q was horrible and so I had lowered my expectations for this place.(although I did not order the pasta… most of the complaints were from people who ordered pasta) Pros: + clean, environment + super friendly waiters + food arrives quickly Cons: — overcooked veal
