Love this place! Pretty yummy sushi! The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I’ve received orders with something I didn’t know came on it or was listed in the details on the menu. I think they updated their menus though so other than that, YUM!

Used to come here all the time for the 50% off rolls, then they recently raised the prices for each roll by at LEAST a dollar. Their entire appeal was their prices and now they jacked them up. If I’m going to spend that much money on sushi I’d go somewhere with much better quality like Mikuni or Zen Toro. I’m surprised they think their rolls are worth that much money.

I know correlation does not equal causation, but… I was perfectly healthy, and ate crab sushi on Saturday night. Suffice to say, I went to war with my stomach starting Saturday night/Sunday morning, and that battle raged on until about Tuesday. If it is coincidence, well, sorry Sushi Unlimited, I would rather not tempt fate again.

Decoration: kinda fancy and has a sushi bar Food: I ordered Yakitori, Tang Tang Tang and Agent 99 sushi rolls. Presentation: Pretty Taste: the sushi are better than AYCE, I like the Agent 99 more than the Tang Tang Tang. Not sure about the other sushi rolls

The Hamachi Kama was good but not as delicate as some of the others I’ve had. The sea steak appetizer was very tasty. I just wish it wasn’t swimming in sauce and the pieces weren’t razor thin. Here are the complaints about the sushi rolls: it had too much rice, the fish was cut too thin, and too much sauce was piled on top of everything. The one Korean food dish we had was mostly filler and hardly and calamari. Pretty much all the rolls tasted the same. I think this was because they put on too much sauce. The garlic lovers roll was neat because it had roasted garlic on top that really changed the flavor from more of the same. Too bad some of it was burnt and just tastes bitter. For two appetizers, three rolls, and one Korean dish, the bill came to $ 98. Maybe that might not be too bad at Kru, Mikunis, or a top-tier place but it crazy considering the razor thin slices of fish and the pedestrian taste of everything. Think of it of buffet quality(not something like Fuji but a buffet like RedHawk that caters to retired white people). The service was OK — nothing special and neither great or bad. Overall there are many better choices that offer better value.

This review is only for the sushi. We came here for lunch one day hoping to find a good AYCE sushi spot that is closer to home. Unfortunately, the AYCE option is only available for dinner. No big deal. We stayed for lunch anyways. We ordered 6 rolls off of the 50% off sushi menu. There was a pretty good variety of rolls here. We were one of two groups in the restaurant, so service didn’t take too long, but wasn’t particularly fast either. The main let down was the preparation of the sushi. The rolls were MASSIVE. Not in a good way. They were mostly rice, and were covered in sauce. I can’t speak to the quality of the fish because it was hard to tell between the abundance of rice and excess sauce. For $ 50 it was a big let down. I would be willing to come back and try their non-sushi options.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for my go-to reasonably priced sushi in Davis! Sushi unlimited is perfect when you’re craving sushi but don’t want to spend a ton on dinner. It’s a pretty chill, laid back place with great ramen and lots of sushi options. They have«half price» rolls all year round which are in the ~$ 6.59−8.50 range. These rolls aren’t any smaller than their regular prices rolls ~$ 9.00-$ 15, they just less of and fewer varieties of fish in my opinion. For two people, two half price rolls, one regular prices roll and a bowl of ramen is way more than enough($ 38 bill with tip!).The ramen is a small bowl and has two potstickers in it. Some of our favorite rolls are Lincoln hills, I-80, rainbow, and the garlic delight(very garlicky!!). Once we ordered a roll that didn’t have a lot of sauces on it, so we asked and they brought out two different types of sauces for us! There’s also a back room that’s usually reserved for parties. We have definitely had birthday dinners here before. They have a decent selection of beers also.

I actually love this place. It wouldn’t be my go-to for AMAZING sushi BUT for half-priced rolls at $ 6 – 7 a roll I AMTHERE. Their rolls are actually pretty good, but their prices are fantastic.

Came here the other night with the bf and had a great experience! The service is really amazing and the food is not bad for the price. They have a page on their menu with 50% rolls, so take advantage of that(ordering a 50% roll voids the Groupon Deal, however … will explain more below). They also have a ton of vegetarian options, so kudos to that. The rolls weren’t bad at all, although both of mine tasted very similar. Regardless, they were HUGE portions for the price. I think overall, my good experience came from the exceptional service. Despite ordering a few 50% rolls, we still tried using the Groupon Deal. Since it was our first time and we didn’t know, our server allowed us to combine the offers. Additionally, that evening was the conclusion to a rough day for me. I left the restaurant forgetting my backpack with my laptop inside(I know … I’m terrible) and went back an hour later looking for it. They had it in the back for me and were so understanding! Thanks Sushi Unlimited! Will definitely be returning. :)

Over the last few weeks, with friends, I have been back to Sushi Unlimited, not for their overpriced nigiri, but for their bento box. It’s been reasonably good. A nice salad, some rice, and you can get a two or three item combo. Service is fine.

Used a Groupon and the service was great! Went during dinner rush and had no problem getting a table. We would go again. The Udon was okay. My Bulgogi pork was to standard. I usually steer clear of restaurants who combine two completely different foods like Thai food and Sushi, but this place pulls off Japanese and Korean pretty good.

This review is based on one experience. I bought a groupon to come try it out and it was worth it. In fact they did not treat us any differently(which isnt the usual groupon experience) the only bad part was the fact that groupon is not good for half price rolls. So with that bieng said ill be back. Parking –shared lot Easy access Store front– well lit and well signed made it easy to find Inside-clean well lit and decorated in simplistic Japanese style Customer service-OUTSTANDING they are even baby friendly Food-Great my daughter got a spicy bomb and miso soup i got a out of control(fake crab) & ediname My only complaint is the same with all sushi places is i wish they would specify imitation crab from real crab. Cuz i HATEFAKECRAB

Sushi unlimited has been my go-to place for Japanese food in Davis for the past few years just because the prices are more reasonable than the other Japanese restaurants here. However, I’ve seen the staff(servers and sushi chefs) completely change many times over the years. It’s sad to see that the once lively bar area on the other side of the restaurant has now been closed and turned into a coffee shop. Regardless, the quality and taste of the food has stayed about the same. The best part about the sushi here is that they have a select number of rolls that are always half off! Personally, the best ones on that list are the crunchy Johnny and the King Kong rolls. I know the Lincoln roll is pretty popular too. My favorite roll from the regular list is the Simba roll! I honestly don’t order the sushi rolls here much. I mainly come here when I’m craving their chicken udon. The flavor of the soup is surprisingly yummy and it’s always piping hot. It’s the perfect noodle soup when it’s cold out or when I’m feeling a little under the weather. I also order the tonkatsu(fried pork cutlet) entrée from time to time. It never disappoints and they give you a decent sized portion too. I never dine in anymore since the service is pretty slow when the restaurant is barely even half filled so I can’t say much about the service.

Love this place! One of 2 sushi places we go to, we mainly come here for a la carte menu. We go here at least 1 or twice a month(maybe more when our kids are craving it). Pretty close by to home and easy to place a order and walk over to do pick up. If you’re are ordering more then 4 rolls then I suggest you call 30 minutes ahead of the time you have your meal planned because that’s how long you’ll wait for a order like that. We always go for the 50% rolls here cause it’s sucha killer deal and totally worth the money for the rolls. They have a decent selection for the 50% off rolls there’s 17 to choose from. With my family it’s always a must with the following choices: King Kong(Crab Mixed & Avocado) salmon torched w/sweet creamy sauce topped w/cashew nuts. Lincoln Hill(Spicy tuna, crab mix, deep fried shrimp, avocado) tempura crumbs(extra crumbs for us) and fair oaks sauce & sweet sauce. Garlic delight is my personal favorite(deep fried shrimp & avocado) sweet sauce topped w/fried garlic. And of course Domo Arigato(Spicy tuna & crab mixed) white tuna, w/creamy sauce whole roll torched… The servers here are very attentive always give you anything you need from water refills, napkins or even suggestions when you’ve never been there before. Tends to be pack for dinner but the severs still then attentive, speedy with service, polite and always smiling. Expect to wait a little during peek dinner hours but the servers & chef still work as hard as they can for you. Defiantly recommended for any sushi lover. And P. S. for your first check in 20% off your meal excluding 50% rolls. :) Cheers

Whenever I’m craving sushi at work, I walk over here! It’s not the best, but it’s not terrible. I really appreciate their half priced rolls menu… There’s actually a great selection on there. The venue itself is pretty spacious, but from what I’ve observed over time, it doesn’t usually get full. I’d recommend this place if you’re on a budget, time crunch, and you want to satisfy your sushi craving.

I came in here with very low expectations, and maybe that was the key to this visit. We ordered two rolls that were excellent in that the fish were fresh and the rice was not overly seasoned with vinegar, like I had been anticipating. Also, by «fresh» I mean fresh for Davis sushi standards, which means«not-awful,» but don’t kid yourself and compare this with any sushi places you ate at back home in the Bay. The korean food was a bit unimpressive. I would definitely not order seafood as any of the protein options. The clams were small, the shrimps were cut into such tiny chunks that I barely made out what they were, and they were all rubbery and tasteless. The banchan they gave alongside the korean entrée was limp and old and they only offered 3. At that point it might just be better off to not offer banchan at all. But to be fair, this place is called Sushi Unlimited, so I didn’t mark them down a lot for that. Protip: if you’re going to eat sushi at a place you’re sketchy about, stick with the tuna and salmon because they have a higher turnover rate

Used to live in Davis and went here all the time! We moved out of Davis to Sacramento and five years later we return to sushi unlimited. The service is quite good, place is clean, plenty of seating, and enough TV’s to watch ESPN!!! Gotta have sports when your at a sushi joint!!! I only get one roll which is the Garlic delight! I’m simple… A Roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, some sweet sauce and fried garlic chips on top! I love garlic so this roll was made for me!!! If you like your roll deep fried like me, it’s a dollar extra. I have ordered the udon here too which is pretty good! Last time I remember, it has good broth and fresh veggies in it! Plus you get a order of mixed tempura which is a plus!!! It’s a good place for get togethers and it has a variety of food places in the same complex!!! Even though I hate Davis, sushi unlimited is great!

Most recent trip here and this place redeemed itself a bit from last time(where I got extremely ripped off by their new chirashi). One of the old sushi chefs came back and his chirashi is decently sized and has a decent presentation. The service is very nice as always. I finally realized what my favorite thing about this place is though: the sauces. The sauces here are just really good. To a point where the actual fish barely even matters. I got their scallop balls which were just plain addictive. Not cause of the scallops or masago or anything like that, the mixture of sauces over rice was that mattered. Overall this place has stayed fairly consistent. I’ve tried a lot of their rolls and had a lot of their Chirashi’s and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’ll never be great, it’ll never be too awful(well the prices are sometimes awful). It’s just a restaurant of meh. But it’s a meh restaurant located a street away from my apartment with nice servers so I’m gonna keep coming back until I graduate.

I thought it was *the* epic sushi buffet in Davis – after all, what less can you expected from a place with Sushi Unlimited in bright red italicized font! I was a little bit disappointed when I found out it was not AYCE, but the endless roll choices and 50% off section rekindled my sushi enthusiasm for the day. We got the $ 5030-piece sashimi combo to share because we thought it would be the best option for two hungry people who were in an AYCE sushi mood, and also because I’m terribly indecisive and was nowhere near narrowing down all the maki choices. But I guess the lesson is learned to 1. never order massive amounts of sashimi without doing Unilocal research beforehand 2. to be skeptical about Japanese restaurants who have a glossary on the menu explaining Japanese food words(just like how my worst milk tea failure was at a place explaining what boba is). After a few bites, we went from ecstatic over our large sashimi platter, to utterly disappointed and not knowing what to do with so much funky fish. The quality was mediocre at best: the maguro seemed like it was still partiallly frozen, and the hamachi was bland and watery and looked anemic. The only ones that tasted alright were the sake(because salmon is usually tasty by default) and a tuna that had a spicy peppry crust(because of the spicy peppery crust). There wasn’t much variety either because they repeated some of the fish selections, and it seems like they tried to hide this by placing cucumber and lemon slices over all the sashimi. Maybe the rolls with all the toppings and sauces and crunchiness would have been better and distracted from the iffy fish quality. Also, FYI wasabi is dismally weak – my last attempt at imparting any flavor in my sashimi was in vain. The combo came with miso soup, salad, and rice – all standard, and I wasn’t expecting them to give us an extra set since we were sharing(though that would have added a star). But they didn’t even give us an extra plate or bowl for sharing :((It’s like they think it’s standard for one person to eat 30 pieces of sashimi, and don’t even want to squander the dishwashing costs in providing an extra plate/bowl. Non-food aspects are mostly unremarkable. Service was alright and smiley, though a bit slow. Ambiance is alright but I would caution against sitting directly facing the sun during sunset, because I started to get blinded and had to switch seats(not sure whether they have blinds). I’m not really one to give angry one-star reviews, but this was a very sad sushi meal… $ 30 later, I ended up relying on Teabo for a more satisfying and tasty dinner part 2, which consisted of $ 4 sweet potato fries.
