I really hate to write a bad review but physical therapy is really important to getting back on your feet and, after being in PT for a torn ACL these last six months, I think I should pass on my experience with Sutter Davis PT. So I only went to Sutter Davis for about 3 weeks and then moved back home for the remainder of my PT. The move allowed me the opportunity to compare two different therapy centers for the same injury. Here’s what I experienced at Sutter Davis. A 30 minute appointment. First 5 minutes the therapist touches your knee and asks what you have been doing. Next 25 minutes, the therapist asks you to do the exercises you have been given to do at home. That’s it. So, you go in to do the same exercises you are doing at home, only you have a therapist watching you and correcting your form. Scheduling was a little frustrating as they don’t monitor their voice mailbox so it you leave messages cancelling an appointment, they don’t always pick up the messgage and you get a call asking why you aren’t there. Because of this, you have to call back several times to reach a real person to get appointments scheduled, as they don’t always return messages left on answering machine requesting appointments or of they do, it’s several days later. When I moved to the new place(Davis and Derosa), my physical therapy included all kinds of machines and therapies administered at the office to help my knee heal. They had infrared? type plates they wrapped the knee in and ice wraps and electrodes. They exposed you to equipment at the office and took you through exercises you couldn’t do at home so you were getting a wide variety of therapies in office. They really worked on and monitored the healing area with massage and manipulation and temperature probes, etc instead of the 5 minutes of manipulation at Sutter Davis. They also provided oversight over your home exercises but that was a minor part of an office visit at Davis and Derosa, whereas at Sutter Davis, most of the time was spent just having you do exercises you were already doing at home, with no additional treatments or therapies offered in office. Also, the therapists it Sutter Davis were kind of uninspiring. Just going through the motions. Had to wait up to 10 minutes to get an appointment started at Sutter too(minor point but didn’t experience this at other place). The final insult was that I paid twice as much out of pocket at Sutter Davis(an in network provider under my anthem blue cross insurance) as I did at the out of network provider I ended up with(Davis and DeRosa) for half the appointment time(30 minutes at Sutter Davis v 1 hour at Davis and DeRosa). Not good.

On more than one occasion, I have benefited from the extremely helpful assistance of staff at this particular location. They are truly the only reason I had a doc with Sutter Health when I lived in the area. As a result, I have been able to return to activities involving my weird knee and even live at the top of a steep hill in a house with uneven steps – something I could not have considered a couple of years ago. I would give them more stars if I could!
