The service is not always the best. The restaurant is usually packed which shows that despite it all, the food is good. Nice atmosphere, big plates and lots of options. The vegetarian options are few but I’ve tried most of the available ones. The Rau Cai Xao Sa Ot is my favorite.

I really like Linh’s. I’ve been a loyal customer since they were in the tiny previous location. I am addicted to the Sate Chicken Soup. It is always amazing. The clay pot dishes are really good too. Try the fresh spring rolls. They have good iced coffee and the coconut drink is indescribably good. I have read complaints about the service from other reviewers but honestly i have never once had bad service here. If you go to a Vietnamese restaurant and half the customers are Vietnamese you know they are doing it right. Give Linh’s a try.

Visit my Twitter page @daytonfoodho for my raunchy food tweets! What fun! Love the Linhs. I spend a lot of time near the base for obvious reasons — God bless our troops, and Linhs offers everything a working girl looks for on a lunch break — fast, delicious, and cheap(which is also what it says on my tattoo). I have a hard time resisting the phở bo tai, but I’ve sampled the sate chicken meal, and the lemongrass chicken. Both are wonderful. Appetizer not to miss? — the lemongrass pork! I don’t know what sorcery goes into those, and I won’t ask because no one finds out my secrets and I ask no one theirs, but man-o-man get some of that meat. DaytonFoodHo 4⁄5 $$

Food is good but service absolutely sucks! I only go for the Phở. While it is good know that your service will probably be beyond terrible. They are extremely slow and rude! You know a little customer service would go a long ways. I still go back for the phở and just expect crappy service.

Love the phở, but the service is a little lacking. I still go because the Phở is that good!

Good phở and noodle soups. I got the duck noodle soup. Great depth of flavor, but nearly NODUCK! Very disappointed in the lack of meat. I will give them another try, but if they pull that again they will lose a star.

Visited here for my brother-in-law’s birthday on his request, and I’m glad we did, although I did have a preview of the place when the hubby brought home leftovers from his earlier visit so I knew we were in for something good. We arrived in time for an earlier dinner… probably around 4:30 or 5PM and our party of 7(5 adults, 2 kids) were seated immediately. Huge fan of the complimentary hot tea, especially since the weather had taken a colder turn from prior days. The adults skewed to the Vietnamese side of the menu, but the kids thankfully were able to get sweet & sour chicken off of the Chinese half of the menu. The pork fresh spring roll was pretty good, I especially liked the sweet heat of the sauce that came with it. It was pretty good poured over the plain rice that came with our entrees. I will have to say that I prefer ones with shrimp, but my husband wanted to try pork and we were splitting an app. I ordered the crispy duck and the waiter gave me a heads up that it would be 25−30min to cook, which I was fine with since we were planning on sampling bites from everyone else’s dishes anyway. I just told him not to wait to bring out the other dishes, bring the rest as they were ready. The better half ordered Vietnamese fried rice, with egg, chicken, shrimp & Vietnamese sausage. Our apps came out almost immediately, if they were pre-made they were still darn good! Then shortly after… and I mean really shortly thereafter, our entrees came out. I snagged a bite of the kid’s sweet & sour chicken… definitely good! There were actual chunks of white meat chicken in a thin batter that were fried crisp. It definitely did not taste like something out of a bag. My husband’s fried rice was really good. A slightly different take on a «standard» fried rice. The surprise of the dish… the Vietnamese sausage. It was sliced into thin discs and fried crisp… lending a salty, but aslo almost sweet-ish?(maybe cinnamon?) flavor to the dish. And my duck… also really good. Typical presentation that I’ve had in other restaurants… take part of the bird, chop it into huge chunks with a cleaver(bones, skin & all!) and flash fry it. They give you a dish of lime quarters and this wonderful salt concoction. Squeeze the lime, dust it with salt & dig in. It was also good dipped in the hoisin sauce from the bottle conveniently on the table. Prices are reasonable and getting us in and out so quick(even with the extra time for the duck) especially with 2 young kids. We will definitely be back!

Place gets packed! Got here around lunchtime and every table was filled, but it didnt take long to get seated. Service was a little slow but it was understandable with how busy it was. Complimentary hot tea was given which was a nice touch and perfect for the cold weather. I got the vegetarian phở and spring rolls. It was good but i have definitely had better. Peanut dipping sauce was too sweet for me and the phở needed more depth of flavor. But all in all it satisfied my phở craving. Would not return again.

Delicious Phở and spring rolls. The Mrs had a noodle dish. We loved our food. Very attendant service and a good deal.

This restaurant was recommended by a couple of friends, so we stopped in for lunch on Saturday. It was busy but not packed like we’ve heard it is on weekdays. There were quite a few servers, but service itself was minimal, I guess. No one ever even asked if we wanted a drink, they just dropped 2 waters and hot teas on the table. We’re not too familiar with Vietnamese food and weren’t sure what to order, but our server was in such a hurry, questions were, well, out of the question. In the end, we liked everything we ordered with the exception of the app sampler(all bland fried food). What we loved is that if the menu indicated that an item was spicy, it really is. Oh, and their use of so many fresh ingredients. Can’t forget to mention that! Thank you! We’ll return, but to get phở to go. I’m still scratching my head about the kerosene heaters scattered all over the restaurant and utter lack of décor. $ 5000 in banquettes and a little server training could make this place a solid 5-star dining experience.

Let me just say, out of all the Vietnamese food I have had, this place is at the top of the list. I have been staying in Sidney the past week and finally had to get out of the town so I ventured down to Dayton. I was skeptical because of the three and a half stars, but I was thoroughly impressed. And my company paid for everything so that made the experience much more enjoyable :) Service– A+ My server was very attentive and came by the appropriate amount of times. Food– A I had the rice paper spring rolls, lemongrass pork kabob, and the beef satay and beef meatball phở. All were wonderful. Phở is one of those things that can easily be screwed up. I’m not Vietnamese and probably wouldn’t know terrible phở if it bit me in the ass, but I’ve had some bad phở(i think) and this was really good. Price– B The price was a little much, but again, I’m not paying for it :)

Oh, Linh’s, I really like you. A lot. I savor a comforting vermicelli bowl with beef, especially when mixed with crunchy lettuce, bean sprouts, and diced cucumbers. I always enjoy drinking the hot jasmine tea before and after my large meal. The restaurant looks modern; their walls showcase large, contemporary paintings and golden, sunburst mirrors. Large TVs line the ceiling wall. The restaurant is great for small and medium sized groups. My friendly servers worked together to bring out the spicy condiments, hot tea, vinaigrette bowl, and the vermicelli. I love visiting in the late afternoon because they always serve tea! I would visit again!

I like going to Linh’s when I’m craving some of their #40 Pork Bun. It’s usually all I ever get here. I’ve seen some Unilocalers mention that service here is pretty bad, but when I dined in, the service was great. It could depend on who you get, but I had a guy as my server. He came to check up on us several times. Brought us what we needed without us having to ask, and was friendly. The restaurant is nice, big, and clean.

This is hard to review. There were pros and cons. Pros: The restaurant is beautiful. Lovely atmosphere. Glowing and warm. I know some people have a prejudice about restaurants in strip malls. And they’re missing out. There are some great places tucked away. The spring rolls were delicious. Really. There was a peanut sauce or something to dip them in that was so good. Very flavorful. Very vegan friendly. I asked. And they have a warning on their menu say to ask if things have nuts, so I assume they’re careful of nut allergies, too. The cons Customer service. There was none. We had soup. My boyfriend had the spicy beef kind and I had tofu vegetarian something. He liked his and mine was fine. They give you a bunch of herbs you can be in the soup. I was over zealous and put in a lot of things. Be more careful than me. But, still. It was good. Not insanely but something I could see myself going to as a default all the time. Huge bowls of soup, pretty cheap. But no one would refill our drinks. My boyfriend had spicy soup. He was chugging the hot tea they had served poured over his ice. I didn’t have much water left, either. And no one checked on us. Sort of a disappointment. I walked in, knowing I was going to love this place and left feeling kind of crappy. Oh, also, no to-go boxes. I had about half of my soup left and we couldn’t get anyone’s attention. I was having a contact emergency and didn’t want to fight over a soup container, but when a bowl is still full of noodles and broth, it seems like a container is in order… Or there should be someone somewhere to ask for a container. There were lots of employees. Just none helping us.

Whenever I’m driving thru Dayton I have to stop here! This is my go to Vietnamese restaurant! Last year we ran a 77 mile relay from cincinnati to Dayton and this was the only place I wanted to go! The beef satay hotpot was amazing. I love the chicken broth soup(bang canh) and you can never go wrong with the catfish in a clay pot

Summer’s a weird time for us in quite a few ways. We start off with the whirlwind that is the Origins Game Fair, which is followed almost immediately by both Fathers’ Day and my birthday. My birthday actually fell on Father’s Day this year, which Jules and I spent at her parents’. Ironically, we spent at least part of that time trying to schedule our next get-together, for Jules’ sister’s birthday. With all that in mind, Jules and I scrambled out this evening to find Katie a birthday present, and decided to grab dinner somewhere new to us: Linh’s Vietnamese Bistro. While I’m fairly well acquainted with food throughout Asia – Indian, Malaysian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Korean – I’d never actually had Vietnamese food before. Jules is a big fan of the iconic Vietnamese dish, ‘phở’, having become an addict during our trips to Columbus’ North Market. But me? No real experience here. Well, that was about to change! Linh’s is fairly stark with high ceilings, but has some bright decorations and feels like a welcoming place as you enter. We were seated almost instantly, though service throughout the meal felt somewhat hit or miss. My Coke ran out about halfway through the meal with no refill even offered, but the waitress did inquire as to the quality of my meal in between bites. Both Jules and I elected to order from the Vietnamese half of the menu, as opposed to the Chinese half, which featured mostly classic Chinese-American classics like General Tso’s and Sesame Chicken. Jules’ dish of rice noodles came out looking gorgeous, covered in sauteed shrimp, crispy roasted pork, and what seemed to be another type of pork wrapped in fried wonton skins. Served with a carrot-rice vinegar, it was a gorgeous bowl of deliciousness that tasted even better than it looked. I opted for the crispy duck, which came out slightly later – the waitress warned me of this, so I didn’t mind – on a massive platter. The duck was delectable on its own – well seasoned and fried to a crunch – but I did have a few issues. The duck was served with a garnish of salt and citrus, though the duck was fairly salty on its own and really didn’t need this sort of seasoning. A sauce of some sort would have been welcome, perhaps a black pepper sauce or the like? Further, the duck came with plain, steamed sticky rice, with no soy sauce or seasoning anywhere to be had. Blah. Rice noodles or the like would have been more welcome. Overall? I really liked our experience. While I don’t know that I’ll have the crispy duck again, I do know that I’ll be eager to try out some new options at Linh’s. Give them a run!

A lot of people kept saying Linh’s has really good Vietnamese food so I thought I’d give it a try. Went there for lunch on a Tuesday. Food: Linh’s menu has a Vietnamese and Chinese section. Their menu didn’t really have that much variety for the vietnamese food. Typically, there would be 20 items just under phở(with different meats and other add ons) but there was only three different phở here. Ended up ordering phở with beef(#1). It wasn’t the best ever, but it wasn’t bad either. I feel like you can’t really go bad with making phở — it’s just the broth and meat. Service: Was seated right away but it took about 20 min for them to get our orders down. It was somewhat packed, but it definitely shouldn’t have taken them that long to assist us and give us water. It was just okay viet food. I guess there isn’t much to compare it to in the Dayton area but if you’re craving some phở this will do.

I’m telling you, I’ve been to phở places in the Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus area. You will never find a place as generous in portion size and flavor as this one. I’ve only had better phở in Hawaii. Yes, service is horrible sometimes, depending on what waitress you get, they can be super rude with a super attitude to boot. But sometimes they’re really nice and attentive to your special requests. But overall they are a really good and clean restaurant with wonderful food and an inspiring entrepreneurial story!

I was in the area and was looking for some Vietnamese food in the area. Linh’s happened to be one of the Vietnamese restaurants close by so I decided to visit here. My first impression of the place is that it’s big, but big doesn’t always mean better. I was highly disappointed by the services that I received today. The waiter, if that’s what you call them was pushy only moments after handing me the menu. This was my first time and I wanted to look over the menu. I didn’t like the way they talked to me. It seems very casual like I’m their friend or something. This is a restaurant and I’m the customer. Treat me like a customer and not your casual friend. I ordered #19(Phở). It tasted ok, but the noodle feels a bit hard and old for some reason. It smells pretty good though. The waiter brought me out a dish of cilantro, jalapenos, and bean sprouts. To be honest, it didn’t look very clean to me for some reason. The look in the waiter’s eye had me suspecting something. It was pretty messy because it seems like they just quickly chopped the cilantro and threw it on the dish. The cilantro wasn’t even cut into small pieces to eat. I was hesitant to eat the vegetables on the plate as I saw the waiter afterwards lifting his shirt up and scratching his hairy belly. That really grossed me out, especially while doing this inside the restaurant in front of everyone. Once again, this isn’t your home. Please keep it sanitary. I also saw the waiter rubbed his eyes, touch his mouth, scratch more body parts. When you ask for something, they basically just throw it there on your table and go back to playing on their phones or scratching themselves. As you can see in the picture, all of the waiter/waitresses are playing on their phone as if no one is around in the restaurant. I am not tipping someone for playing on their phone and not tending to customers. I will never come back to this restaurant again. They seriously need some managing skills in the restaurant for better services.
