This place is the same every time, it’s awesome. Service is great. Always greeted with a smile. Best shakes in Dayton if you have not tried one.

From someone who enjoys a great burger, I would highly recommend this place. I thought Five Guys was amazing and then I found this gem and it blows that place out of the water. There are much more choices for your burger, and you can even have chicken. It’s less greasy than Five Guys and the burger just tastes better.

Brought my Mom here twice — she really loves this place, so we go whenever I’m in town visiting her.
The burgers are pretty good, although salty.
The servers are energetic and friendly.
The prices seem high, considering it’s basically fancy fast food, but when Mom likes a place, we go!

There is a review for this place that says overhyped, this is true, hearing about this place it sounded like a great burger joint with quality burgers and awesome fries to accompany it. Your expectations seem too high when you walk inside. Then smash burger, rather than smashing the burger, smashes your expectations when you experience the food; greasy shiny, oily, fries and a not horrible, but very dull flavored burger.

We were passing through Dayton on our way home on Sunday morning around 10:30 AM (they open at 10:00). We went in and saw an employee asleep in one of the booths. We proceeded to the front of the restaurant to place our order, but there was no one around. Could not see or hear anyone in the kitchen. We waited for a good 10 minutes and did not see one person! We walked out and when we got to the door, I looked back and the guy was still sound asleep in the booth! Will NOT go back!

This is one of our favorite places to go after church. Service was excellent and food was good as usual.

Ridiculously expensive! When i got my smash chicken avocado club back to the hotel to eat it, I noticed its not smashed at all. Actually, its just a really thin piece of shaved chicken beast. Then to literally top it off, they take a sandwich that should be relatively healthy and smear it with TWO layers of mayo! News flash! If they gotta smear two thick nasty layers of mayo on a sandwich, its shit! What a nasty greasy mess. Never again!

Meh, my burger was cooked way too much, the fried with garlic and rosemary weren’t flavorful by all means. I would have rather paid 13.00 elsewhere, the service was fine but the food wasn’t what I expected.

Love this place! Upscale fast food. Excellent burgers. Fries we had were sweet potato and the spicy buffalo fries. Total meal for the 2 of us under $ 20.

Smashburger is my favorite place for a quick burger! I also enjoy their rosemary smash fries.
For some really really REALLY strange reason, I ordered a salad the other day when I came in here. What??? A salad!!! This is probably the 5^th time or so in my life I’ve ordered a salad as an entrée.
So this Baja Cobb salad is AWESOME. Thick cut bacon pieces, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños… chipotle dressing… oh YES, it hit the spot.
Did I mention the thick cut bacon pieces?!
Mmmm. Sorry. I don’t eat salads to make healthy choices.
Service was rather dull. Staff members don’t seem happy about working. That’s okay, Smashburger is a glamorous fast food place. And please fix your lemons. Unchilled lemons that sit out for hours upon end are my secret pet peeve for sandwich shops and the like.
But I love your salad.

Stopped in on way home from vacation. Very pleasant and helpful people working. The ice machine broke so they went and got more ice at carry out. I wanted to order my shake later but they said I could order it and they’d just make it later. The lady at the register suggested the chocolate Oreo shake and man was she right! That was one good shake! The burger I got was the BBQ and bacon burger and I added an egg. What a great burger! I like it better than Five Guys.

It was okay. The layout was strange to me. When you go in you halfway expect to be seated, because the menus are at the front door. But you are actually supposed to walk to the back and order.
The burger was good, I got the avocado blt and fried pickles. I enjoyed both.
The staff was okay the server asked if I wanted mine with beef or chicken. I asked him which one he recommended and he said he didn’t know he didn’t eat them, so I played it safe and went with beef.
I would eat it again but it would not be my first choice.

Great meal! Had the classic burger, fried pickles and sweet potato fries.
Everything was cooked well and served promptly. Definitely in my top 5 fast food burger spots!

Eat avacado ranch black bean burger and sweet potato fries. Burger patty was good – bigger than bun. Good quality veggie burger; but couldn’t noticed ranch taste and was light on avacado. Special sauce/​taste maker will make this better. Sweet potato fries were made from frozen and NOT by sautéing/​pan frying freshly cut sweet potatoes.

So I was in Ohio for reasons undisclosed at this time, and boy, i was hungry but had no idea where to eat. Yes Unilocal!recommended me to Smash Burgers for my affinity of all things meaty and I loved everything about it. Similar or akin to Burger 21, they have a nice selection of Burgeries and I went with the Buckeye Burger and it was very delish. Run-​on sentences may be a problem with my reviews but that’s because it was one long thoughtful experience (nice save, Tommy T). They have a few locations around there so you cant miss it. Head on over for a «Smash-​ing» good time. All i need are some shades and some band screaming YEAAAAAAHHHHHH at this point.
The fries were great.

First impression: An odd setup. You have to make your way around to the back where the registers are.
Not clean. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and there were only six other customers. Fries and junk under a bunch of booths and tables. To their credit, they did start vacuuming with a little zoom broom.
After reading some reviews, I opted for chicken instead of the burger.
Mushroom and Swiss chicken sandwich — ended up being kind of greasy, just like the burger reviews. They could’ve stood to put a few more mushrooms on the thing. Tasted ok after I blotted off the few pools of grease with a few napkins.
Fried pickles — Holy SALTY. I like my salt, but these were just too much.
Rosemary fries — Came out glistening with oil and grease. I dumped them on to a few napkins and watched as the napkins soaked up the oil. Once drained, I did like the taste.
Strawberry shake — Average. Tasted really artificial. Chick-​fil-​a shakes are much better.
Service was fine. It’s a fast food burger joint, I didn’t expect much.
Will I return? Only if it is Sunday and Chick-​fil-​a isn’t open AND I need my grease fix.

I was pretty sceptical at first when I went here. The first time the bun was way too dry and the burger was way overdone… but after trying various Smash Burger locations repeatedly I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the best fast/​fast-​casual burger place available in the area. I like 5 Guys, but this is better… especially with the Buckeye Burger and its fried pepper rings… plus the buns are better quality and hold together much better. I recommend it.

Overhyped.
Heard many great things, my wife and step-​son both love it and having read positive stuff on Unilocal I was looking forward to my first visit. Boy was I disappointed.
I ordered the avocado club big burger and smash fries. The burger was pure grease — literally every bite was like doing a shot of hot beef flavored oil — it was all I could taste, rendering the rest of the ingredients utterly superfluous, and the bun little more than a grease soaked sponge.
I’m happy to pay a premium for fresh ingredients and forgive the cutesy marketing fluff they use to highlight what makes them different, but selling based on quality and freshness only works when you can taste the difference. To me, smashburger tasted no better than the usual greasy fare from Hardee’s or Wendy’s.

Goodness gracious! I got the truffle burger and veggie frites — yummy yum yum! How places like McD’s and BK stay in business when there are Smashburgers around is a mystery!
We went at 2pm on a Saturday, no line and our choice of tables. But I could totally see how this place could be very busy, Food was fast and too hot to eat right away.
My only, very minor, complaint was the booth was uncomfortable and I almost tripped over the table support trying to get out. So next time we’ll sit at chairs. And next time will be very soon!
