Great Sandwich!(Frisco burger). Service thru Drive-Thru just a «tad» slow or it would have received 5 stars. Would visit again!

Update: finally got a hold of a manager. They did not apologize once but asked me if I was sure it was their store(ummm I just clicked the phone number on my emailed receipt). So I’ll get my refund but an apology would have gone far. I also called corporate to file a complaint and they were actually apologetic and sent me a free milkshake coupon. Update #2. I got another call from another manager. Relayed the issue and was promised another call and a refund. I never got my refund but I was too tired to put any more effort into this. Will see if I get my coupon from corporate.

Walked in to place a takeout order and we could see immediately the kitchen was a mess. There was a couple in front of us that walked out shortly after we walked in saying no one had taken their order. About 5 min after that, when no one had taken out order, we walked out too. There was a guy in the takeout line ahead of us sitting with 6 different sacks of food and we heard him say he was still waiting on drinks and a fry. Only 2 cars were at the drive thru. No one behind the counter acknowledged us although a nice young man waiting tables did greet us when we first walked in. We ended up going 15 min up the road to the next location which was 5 times as busy but customer service was on point. We are used to having slow service at Steak n Shake but this was a no service situation.

It took a few minutes to be seated. While we were waiting for a waitress to notice us and give us a menu and some water. We over heard the staff debating on whom was getting the new table, and how they too many tables already. After about ten minutes of no notice from the staff we walked out upset.

This restaurant has the slowest service of anywhere I have ever been. It took them 5 minutes to seat us when there was only 2 tables seated in the whole restaurant. Our waitress was nice but the kitchen and everyone else was slow as molasses

I have eaten at this restaurant every couple months since it first opened. I had a bad experience there in December, but wrote it off as an isolated incident. I went there today and had a horrible experience that I couldn’t overlook. We ordered our food and shakes at the same time. The jalapeño crunch burger was slimy and had an awful taste. The kids meal corn dogs were greasy on the outside and doughy on the inside. Both meals were inedible. Our milkshakes never came even after I asked about them 25 minutes after we had ordered them. We were told they would be ready in a couple minutes. After another 10 minutes passed, no milkshakes. I flagged the manager down and she said she would be over in a minute; she then ask the busser to see what we needed. At this point, we stood up and started putting our coats on and the waitress came over and said«do you want your shakes to go?»; I replied that we had wanted the shakes with our meal, not 30 minutes later. I went to the manager to tell her about our dissatisfaction and she apologized and said she would take the shakes off our the bill…(wow! that’s great since we never received them). I told her that I would not pay for the two meals that were inedible and she reluctantly took those off our bill. I paid for the food and drinks we did consume. In addition to the issues with the food and our order, the restaurant did not appear to be very clean. The ketchup squirt bottle had dried ketchup on the screw on lid…(like they had be filled and overrun and not wiped clean); the bottles themselves were sticky and were in need of a good cleaning. The floor was slippery because it was so greasy. I won’t be going to this Steak n Shake in the future.

Well I visited this location via the drive thru. Service was slow. Cashier was slow and not really friendly. I ordered 3 sandwiches and 3 French fries. The sandwiches were good but fries were cold and stringy. I have been to this location many times and the service here is a hit or miss type.

I love Steak n Shake. They always have great food. This one always manages to screw up our order every time we come in. The most recent visit was not uncommon. After receiving our food and letting them know what was wrong, we waited for a considerable amount of time to get the rest of our order. While we waited our server was busy flirting with the cook staff while our food got cold in the window. Once we got it our server ignored us for the duration of our stay. All of our drinks were empty and we’re not refilled once. Steak n Shake is a great place to eat just make sure it’s not this one.

The food here is great but the service is poor. We have tried at 2 different times of day to order in the drive thru. After a 5 minute wait to try giving our order, we went inside. I stood at the counter and told 3 different people, that I needed to order. «I’ll be with you when I can» was the answer. Finally, a girl took my order and the food was great. Management needs to do a little more training here.

Nothing special about thus Grilled chicken Burger. It was not grilled – could not see sripes of grilling… it might have been cooked by boling in water followed by little pan; it was warm – not hot. The bun was as good as white bread slice; somehow I prefer multigrain with some texture. It had mayonnaise and lettuce; no special sause or taste maker. It came with french fries those were thin cut… which increses fat content(more surface) as compared to thick cut fries. Restrooms were not attended. See pictures of burger and restroom sink.

Steak n Shake as a franchise deserves about a 3 from my experience. They’re decent food and great value. I like them as one of the only available options after 10pm: my time of day. I’ve had a number of good experiences here though you can’t expect the quickest service at a sit down restaurant especially at a time the servers are burning the midnight oil. Rarely have I felt the need to rate on Unilocal based on anything besides how the food tastes. Its a bit awkward to do but the flavor of the food was compromised through atrocious service. We had frequented this location and never even really considered tipping less than 20%. My friends would even go weekly for the 2 – 4 am/pm except weekends half off shakes alongside decent food. Somewhat regularly you’d have to ask for something twice, correct an order/take it as is, wave down the server if you need anything, and never expect to get refills on drinks. For these prices at 3 am, I didn’t mind at all. Very understandable. Whatever happened tonight was different. When we ordered, my friend got a jr shake and I asked for hot sauce with my fries(something I usually have to repeat, but I still ask with the order). For some reason our server was also working drive through and made us wait and awkwardly pause whenever she interacted with us because she gave her headset first priority. When the food was delivered, his shake was full size and my milkshake was missing its hot fudge but we decided to roll with it and just asked for hot sauce and some silverware. 20 minutes later presumably after a smoke break, the server came out and asked other tables how they were doing. When she made it to ours, we asked for the items again so we could actually eat our shakes and my fries were already cold. Her response was«if we even have any» in some bizzare way to totally deflect the blame? Two seconds later she came back with everything only proving how easy it could have been. We stayed for a long time after talking and catching up, but you can pay the bill at your leisure. There were no refills or anything but we’ve learned not to expect them without asking and I preferred to avoid the moody waitress if at all possible. At checkout, I paid and tipped her only for my friend to notice that she didn’t discount our shakes to half price. After she told us that she wouldn’t fix it(it has been fixed by our servers here in the past), her instruction was that we come back tomorrow and take it up with the manager. It was still between 2 and 4 am and not on a weekend, so there was no way that was a reasonable course of action. Instead of sitting waiting for her to get back to us after dealing with more customers over the headset, my friends decided to take the receipts and go after paying and not tipping her. All they ordered were milkshakes. Not once did she offer to give me back my bill to adjust my tip or in any way try to correct what she had done. Over just a couple bucks, I don’t think we would have cared if it weren’t for her flippant attitude and refusal to help/serve us. In no way do I believe this experience should be representative of Steak n Shake during regular daytime hours unless the same employee is working. I just couldn’t believe how awful she was all around. Maybe some of their good workers left and haven’t been properly replaced? At least my guacamole burger tasted good? This was my experience and I hope better for you.

My experience here was late at night, maybe 1am. It was filled with young unruly patrons. I rather enjoyed the entertainment. It was hectic. The food was hot, and the shake was good. I overheard some complaining about the service, and the wait times, but I don’t have any complaints – it was a madhouse in there so I was just happy to get my food in a relatively timely manner. It’s a good late night spot if you’re hungry and don’t mind the ruckus; It’s even better if you enjoy the ruckus!
