I went to Dougies for dinner the other night, my first time. Me and a friend. We got an order to go. When I ordered, my friend read the menu off to me and I chose my food that way, so I was not aware of the prices. After paying $ 60.00 for the food, I did something I rarely, i mean rarely do. I decided to inventory the bag to see if a mistake was made, if they added more food to the order by mistake. Nope, Dougies BBQ got the order right. We ordered the following: Pretzel crusted chicken dipping sticks(4 chicken strips) Avocado spring rolls(4 rolls) A pastrami sandwich(small sandwich on rye) A London broil wrap(1 medium /small sized wrap) So the food was very good. Pretzel chicken was very very good. Spring rolls were okay, reminded me a Chili’s southwest egg rolls mostly. The London Broil wrap had the consistency of a steak-um cheese steak. It was good, but very very small. The pastrami sandwich was tiny. I was wondering after dinner if the accidentally put the food in the dryer. Now understand this, if I paid a reasonable amount of money for this food, I would have given it 4 – 5 stars. The value for the food that was given to me however is a joke. I also understand this is a «kosher» place, which means a rabbi has to bless this food, similar to how a rabbi blesses Pepsi soda, when I used to work in a warehouse a long time ago… he walks into the warehouse, takes an envelope of money and says, ok, your warehouse it blessed. All your Pepsi is kosher. This shouldn’t give the business owner the right to overcharge people, me in particular about $ 20.00 too much. The London Broil wrap was $ 16.00. $ 16.00!!! Was the London Broil imported from Jerusalem? Wow, very expensive. Did Dougies BBQ relocate from an airport, or a mall food court? — bottom line, very small portions, very very, very overpriced. Its been almost 4 days since I ate there and paid $ 60.00. I woke up this morning contemplating going to the Deal Police Department to file a theft of my money report. I would not return back to this business under any circumstances.

Honestly I wish I can give zero stars. I don’t know why people go crazy for this place. People really don’t know what good food is. Must be just the name. Unless u want to have an upset stomach and end up in the hospital please do not eat here. The food served to us must have been a week old I am not joking. The food ran through literally as I was eating. Highly recommend you try a different place.

Food got much better & place is clean. Now it needs consistency, I’d also have some specials & different meals as options.

Service and food seem to be improving. Waitress and server were very helpful. The Fire Slammers are great, even if slightly greasy. Burgers were cooked exactly as requested, which is unusual for a Kosher place. Thanks for putting in the extra care.

if Minus was an option I’d be giving them Minus 5! Rude Waitress! Dirty Place, Flies all over the place make you want to vomit… ordered to go Chicken salad too after having a business lunch there with a colleague, when I got home noticed it was a regular salad no chicken and I was charged roughly $ 13 for stupid tiny bit of Cesar Salad which was never ordered! I called back to in 3 occasions the same day & was challenged by the Rude Waterers she said manager will call back, called the day after for getting credit for what I wasn’t ordered and the wrong takeout & again I was told manager will call me back… These people belong to the stone ages, some of Kosher Places take advantage of customers … expensive, dirty place, rude staff! AVOID this PLACE!

With the exception of the large portion of beef ribs @ $ 36.95, there isn’t anything about this place to write home about. Very informal with a fly or two flying about the restaurant. The service is slow with meals being served piece meal. The potato for my dinner came out a good 15 minutes after the meal was served. I noticed this was the same case for the other six tables. Since there is no communication between the kitchen and waitresses, I had to place my dinner order twice. The waitress had no idea which items on the menu were not available from the kitchen. There is an 18% gratuity added so there is no incentive for good service. The waitresses sit at a table close to the front door checking their e-mails and text messages so if you want service during your dinner you will need to go to their table to get their attention. It took 90 minutes from the time we were seated until we finished dinner.

We have visited Dougie every year for the past few summers and I am sad to say that the food has been consistently disappointing. If we knew of some other options in the Deal area, we would certainly not waste our money on such bad food. The service has always been ok but the food is pricey and never tastes fresh. I just hate when a kosher restaurants doesn’t think enough of their customers to offer them good and reasonably price food.

SAVEYOURMONEYANDSTOMACHS!!! Just came out of there. We’ve been customers for years but with this new management… WILLNEVERGOBACK!!! Food was horrible. Portions are tiny. Pasta and meatballs dinner had 3!!! meatballs in it. Both of my kids came out starving. On top of that food was half raw and lukewarm. And 18% gratuaty was added to a price.

This place, used to be very good. Over the last couple of years it has steadily gone down hill. We have visited there every summer(5 years) and this summer will be the last time we waste or time and money there. UPDATE I’m very pleased to say we enjoyed ourselves in Stringers and many other places in Deal and nearby. Ezra’s request, 2 years after our negative review is 4 years too late as Dougie’s here started going down in 2010. Now you’re interested in fixing it? Just close it down.

Absolutely delicious food. They serve many dishes, such as hamburgers, sandwiches, and their«specialty», buffalo wings. The portions are absolutely gigantic(order fries, you get a BUCKET). I recommend Jalapeño Slammers, which are jalapeño peppers wrapped in pastrami and fried. Spicy, yet delicious. An overall A+ dining experience.
