YUM!!! My husband and I were in town for the Movement music festival and we came in to fuel up for a long day of dancing. This place is so so good! We ordered the plate for 2 and then also a falafel appetizer. The waitress assured us that those were good things to order and we would be happy. There was a gorgeous salad to start with radishes, cucumbers, and little pieces of fried pita. Also hummus and homemade pickles, both of which were very good. Then a platter of meats with sauces, vegetables, rice with toasted almonds and little pieces of meat, etc. Falafel was mind-blowing. Everything was well seasoned and delicious. We are both hearty eaters and we had enough leftovers for a whole meal the next day. Staff was very sweet and hospitable. Even though we were clearly not their target demographic(the restaurant was filled with Middle Eastern families when we were there), we still felt very welcome dining in this restaurant. I loved how they were able to make such flavorful food while keeping everything healthy and nutritious. They really delivered a value for the price– this is not a place that loads you up with«filler» foods. Highly recommend– we will be back!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dearborn. Small location with limited seating, also does to-go. I’ve never had it to-go, so I can’t comment on the service or quality of food there. Kind of a hole in the wall, but I believe it’s had recent renovations to spruce the place up. I like the ambiance, personally. Feels like a diner. Holidays are great because they always decorate the place. In regards to waitstaff, I’ve never had a problem. Never seen any rude behavior by anyone before. Maybe some other reviewers came on uniquely bad days, but I guess I can’t write off another person’s experience. I personally have never had anything less than perfectly courteous service. Food wise, which is where it really matters, I’ve never been let down. I usually get the combo plates because cost wise they’re the smart way to go. How can anyone think a 15 dollar plate is too expensive when you get enough food for 2, really rounding down the price to about 7 dollars??? I am the first to complain about a price point, and this is not a place worthy of that complaint at all. The food is on par with any good middle eastern restaurant, not blow you out of the water good, but good enough that I go out of my way to eat here. I’d recommend coming here later in the night to avoid the bigger crowds.

I have been here several times when I come to town. Love their meat shawarma. One of the best I’ve had in the US. Often my first stop from the airport. Updated: got the shush combo and it tasted good but felt over cooked and dry. So stick to the meat shawarma.

We went for dinner the other night, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our meals came out quickly, and they were very enjoyable. I had a chicken schwarma sandwich, and it was very filling and affordable. My wife had the vegetable plate, with very flavorful and soft grape leaves. Hommos and tabbouli were fresh too. The two women taking orders at the counter and taking care of the tables were very friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed. They made sure not to have the sun shine too much into people’s eyes, that we were all happy with our meals, and let us stay extra long chatting away. Overall, great place to go. It is very affordable, depending on what you order, and the people working were very fun to be around.

Hamido is a gamble, and on a recent trip I lost. I had chicken shawarma, which had a lot of inedible pieces in it and was not nearly as good as it usually is. The falafel were soggy and heavy on a certain spice, which I couldn’t put my finger on. Also, you could tell the frying oil had not been changed in a while.

This restaurant has amazing food! I visited Hamido yesterday and not exaggerating it was the best middle eastern food ever! Not only the taste of food but also service was great! Now I know the place to go when I visit Dearborn. Thank you guys!

So I was in this area and decided to give this place a chance. I went there with a friend after I convinced her that this place is probably very good based on the reviews. Anyways we went there and when we walked in the waitress that then took our order was standing in front of the restaurant smoking. I have nothing against smokers but if you are smoking please do it somewhere where customers cannot see you. Anyhow, we got seated right away and the girl came in right after us. She was super nice. She brought us water and after looking at the menu I decided to get combo shawerma and my friend got Kafta. I personally believe that the prices are super high for the quality of food and for the atmosphere. They charge 16 dollars for shawerma combo in a place where there is a huge competition and they kind of force you to buy bottled water. So they will bring you bottle water if you don’t tell them you want tap water. I was really annoyed by the owner/manager who was scolding the waitress in front of us. I believe that is not professional at all and if he had anything against her, he should have talked to her somewhere private not in front of the customers. We recieved the food 10 to 15 minutes later. The combo that I got was really not a combo. It was shawerma and humus. I believe I got tricked and ended up paying that extra for the combo. The taste of the shawerma was very greasy(not what good shawerma should taste like) and although greasy, it was dry. It was probably old shawerma. The humus was alright though, but I wouldn’t go back for that or the food. The kafta that my friend got was also greasy and she only ate one and a half pieces and she knew that the food was not good even though she is white lol jk. But honestly after we paid 37 dollars for garbage, and we had upset stomach. I had to make a stop at 7 eleven to get 7 up and spent extra 2 dollars. So 39 dollars. The most tasty thing I had during this meal was the 7 up lol.

Awesome chicken shawarma sandwich! Inexpensive and simply delicious and perfectly portioned. Very cramped lobby area and dirty bathroom, but the food is really good. I haven’t had as much from this location as the Ford Rd location but it’s the same outfit.

My fav Arabic food. kind of hole-in-wall place. I even learned how to say«Hamido here I come» in Arabic. Cant tell you what I had since my friend always taking over the order. all I do just get the frok ready! Wish I can speak more Arabic other than swearing and how are you.

While Hamido may not be the most impressive place when you first walk in, it certainly serves food that is deserving of a 5 star restaurant. From the free pickled veggies to the endless bags of fresh pita bread, Hamido really has it all. Every time I come here, I always end up ordering Hamido’s Special Plate which is a heaping plate of grilled meat and chicken shawarma, shish kabab, shish tawook, kafta, fresh hommos, delicious middle eastern rice with bits of almond, and a tangy salad. It’s more than enough food for two people, and there’s always a whole meal of food for two left over. Plus, you can always take a bag(or two) of pita bread with you to enjoy at home. Love this place!

Pros: +Good Pricing +Freshly Made Cons: –Service –Seating –Parking The food here was okay, it needs flavor, especially surrounded by a hundred other places doing the same type of food. Service here was terrible, as well as parking, tiny lot. We got a large salad to share and a hummus, which were okay. One person in our party wanted plain shawarmas, the waitress shows up, drops the plates on the table and walks away. When we flag her down to ask which ones of the shawarma are plain, she says«Sorry I don’t know you’ll have to open them up and you’ll find out», the problem is they are panini pressed. When we asked her for our drinks she didn’t say anything just walked back and dropped water bottles and assorted cans of pop(which none of us ordered), which we were charged for even though we didn’t open them and returned them to the counter. At this point she never came back so we asked a waiter for papertowels, he came back with a box of tissues. After eating we sat there for a solid 20 minutes waiting for her, the place is tiny so we had no idea where she could be, so we go up to the counter to pay. While paying our bill she shows up and says«Don’t you want your bill?». After ringing up half of us she hands over the transactions to another waiter and proceeds to text, while forgetting to return one of our parties change for a $ 100. The waiter calls her back and she says she handed the change back and to open up his wallet to show. The wallet was empty and she just said«Oh» and walked away. Ridiculous experience.

The food here is good but on the greasier side. Their unique options such as tongue were done really well. I had a shawarma sandwich– the meat was delicious, but it didn’t have enough veggies and was heavy on the sauce. The hummus was decent. The waiting staff were extremely polite and timely, the food was cheap and slightly above average, and the ambience was appropriate for an afternoon with friends.

I’m a fan of Hamido. The place gets full so fast, and a lot of people place their orders to go. Maybe because the place is small a bit. I think they only have less then 10 tables if I am not mistaken. Their chicken faroog is the best in the area. Some people pass by a few restaurants just to get there for their chicken. I love their brown rice as well. I hope they expand and make the dinning a little bigger, even when you want to pick your order, you have to stay standing, because the seating’s are only for dinning customers

How can you go wrong with a wall of roasting meats? Cones of chicken and meat schwarma waiting to be shaved to order & the amazingly delicious rotisserie chickens are drool worthy. Grilled to order kebabs, tawook, and kibbie will not disappoint. The salads and vegetarian dishes are always fresh, flavorful, and the perfect foil to a carnivorous meal. The toum(garlic sauce) is thick, white, fluffy and perfectly pungent. Order an aryan(yogurt drink) & some vegetables to keep the meat sweats at bay.

Very nice people running this business but the food is a different story. Chicken has no taste whatsoever, neither does their garlic. The meat shrivels up like rock after it’s been out for 30 minutes. Wonder why. Ew. Hummus is very bland as well. Disappointing food. Michigan has some of the best Middle Eastern restaurants, this is not one. Try Al-Amer or Habibs or Al-Ajami or Alexandrias in Northville.

I work in Dearborn and have developed a real appreciation for Middle Eastern food. I’ve been to almost all of the places in the area, and Hamido consistently outshines them all. Best hummus I’ve had, and the rice is unbelievable. When you can make rice something special, it’s a pretty good sign. My go to is the Chicken Tawook, it’s unbelievably juicy and flavorful. I can also vouch for the shwarma(entre or sandwich), as well as the salads. It’s a little bit pricy, but I always end up eating only half of my lunch so that makes me feel better about the price, and of course it’s just delicious!

One of the BEST meals I’ve had has been at Hamido, each time I visit MI this is the first place I have to stop in. The place isn’t fancy, but its always busy! Rightfully so, their food is delicious, fresh and comes out quick! You can feed an entire family for like $ 40! Oh and they have the best shawarmas i’ve ever eaten, even better than in Lebanon! Don’t pass this place up, its a sure winner of a meal!

It’s a small place, a little too well loved and crowded. It could use a good steam cleaning. That said, the waitstaff was great, and the lamb chops were freaking-out-of-this-world good. And the rice was great(not the typical butter rice that you get at many of the local places). We will return.

I heard about this place from my pharmacist who is from Iraq, and two hours away from my home but I had to pick up a friend at Detroit Metro Airport and this place is like 15 minutes away. Walked in and ordered 10 shwarmas(5 beef, 5 chicken) and when I got home the wait was sooo worth it! Fantastic food and the only thing better than these were shwarmas that I ate in Saudi Arabia and Tel Aviv when I was in the military! Simply stunning is how I describe the ladies who work there; I have NEVER seen more beautiful women in person in ANY food establishment in the WORLD!!! Any one of them could win a beauty pageant! Just icing on the cake for the great food made at this place!

The place is small: maybe 10 tables, cramped and crowded on 4th of July. I walked in and placed an order for chicken shwarma sandwich. 4 $ gets you a sandwich s which is actually shwarma, garlic sauce, pickles and some veggies wrapped in a pita. It tasted amazing but I don’t think it’s enough food if you’re super hungry. Get fries or add hummus to satisfy the hunger. Wait time was almost nothing. I’d definitely return.

THISPLACEISAMAZING! We got the platter for 2 with three types of meat, salad, hummus, rice and pita bread. It was so much food, plenty to split between 3 people and all for just $ 24! It was wonderful! I would definitely go back here! The rice has a wonderful cinnamon flavor and the meat, especially the chicken was so flavorful and tender! It was one of the best Middle Eastern meals I’ve had in a long time!

UNBELIEVABLE food. Yes, it was all-capital letters worthy. Recommended to Hamido by an Über driver, my entire family was thrilled that we made this choice. The Über driver told us that he eats there weekly. After having gone there, I wonder why he doesn’t go daily. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm. We must have missed the memo letting us know that every Middle Eastern family in Dearborn would be at the restaurant, but it was packed already. And for an out of towner, a great sight is seeing the place filled with people who are of the same ethnic background as the restaurant purports to make food from. After all, would you really want to eat at a Chinese restaurant where only non-Chinese people go? We ordered the Hamido plate for 2, and their Saturday special(stuffed lamb over rice). Their portions are so amazingly generous that this was more than enough for 4 hungry adults, and we had leftovers too. Their dishes were insanely delicious, and their hummus was the best that I have ever had. My family said that the lamb was so tender, it melted in their mouths. Make sure that you get this if it is not sold out on a Saturday. In fact, I’d drive back to Hamido on a Saturday just for that dish. As a point of comparison, we went to Al-Ameer the day before and there was no comparison in terms of both value and food quality. Hamido wins flat out. If you are in Dearborn(or anywhere within a 3 hour drive), you have to go eat at Hamido. It was that delicious.

The problem with Dearborn/Middle Eastern food is that there are too many places to choose from. There’s a middle eastern restaurant on every corner and on every block in between. It’s pretty hard to separate yourself from the rest. Hamidos does a pretty good job at separating themselves from other places who provide the same style of food. One thing Hamidos has going for themselves is that they are BUSY. Busy meaning they are always dishing out fresh food. There’s always people dining in and picking up food from here. People are in and out constantly. My go-to meal here in their boneless chicken. You can get this anywhere in the dearborn area but as mentioned earlier, they do things right here and separate themselves from the bunch. Also, stop in on Saturday and get yourself some lamb and rice. It’s only available on Saturday. You know it’s fresh when it’s only made on one day of the week.

Jake and I were already familiar with the location on Ford Road, but decided to give the mothership a visit. We were seated quickly with a nice view into their kitchen. I fantasized about those rotating spits of chicken while waiting for our waitress… We ordered a couple chicken shawarma with extra garlic sauce, plus a fattoush salad. Everything came out just a few minutes later and was hot and fresh. Service wasn’t anything special but it was adequate. The atmosphere is more like classy diner… not quite a dive, but not super fancy either. Hamido is a nice place to stop for a quick lunch or dinner.
