So close to home and everything is laid out so simple. Meaning the aisles flow and it’s a clean and neat store, I appreciate that. Easy to run in and out when on the go… The only thing I would say is I would like to have all Kroger’s carry the same stock. I recycle so one day I went in to return flavored Perrier bottles, and the machine wouldn’t accept them! Apparently, here at this store they don’t sell that orange flavor Perrier just the regular??? How ridiculous! Another stop I didn’t do, I threw them in their garbage and kept shopping!

How’s it that I haven’t yet reviewed this charm? This is a newer established Kroger with a great layout & even better sales… I’ve gotten Vitamin C store brand chews for 2 $ on sale, today I bought Greek yogurt 10⁄10 $ and some Michigan peaches for .88 $ a pound. I like the fact that they have great parking and even a little turnstile entrance into the side near their pharmacy if I have happened to have been at the other little stores along the way.

There are things I love about this Kroger but that list is quickly dwindling. First the good: The cashiers are really friendly(especially Joe) and I almost never wait in line to pay for my groceries. It’s small enough so you don’t wander around looking for things and can get out quickly. The one across the street is just too large. I sometimes run into a group of corporate people standing around and they seem to be trying to help this location stay open. I always take this opportunity to approach them and give them my thoughts. Now the bad: Produce: Really hit and miss. I was there this past Tuesday and they were out of many things and I mean out — empty. Produce can be not so fresh. They also mark down expired produce just like meat — more on that later. Fed my poor husband sour asparagus the other night after he worked a 10 hour shift. He was so disappointed and I felt bad. Meat: Go for the glass meat counter. Great stuff there and usually cheaper than what’s out and wrapped. IMPORTANTKROGERIFYOUREADTHIS: STOPMARKINGDOWNROTTENMEATPRODUCTS. THROWTHEMOUT. I was dumb enough to fall for this thinking well if it were bad they would not be selling it. WRONG. So angry to have to make a trip back to the store to get refunded for spoiled meat. When I was there this week, a cashier caught mold on something. She happened to be the manager on duty and immediately called back to the meat dept to tell Laquawn(I think is his name) to stop putting out meat with mold on it. REALLY? SHEHADTOTELLHIMTHAT? SHOULDN’T HEKNOWTHAT? I love the convenience of this store because it’s small and friendly but I could not find anyone in produce or dairy this past week(shelves were bare) and I think it may be time for this time to throw in the towel and it makes me sad. Joe the cashier and Tom in produce are shining stars. Tom always makes sure dairy is stocked up and Joe could not be nicer.

This store is the more traditional version of Kroger(yes, Kroger) just across the street(yes, across the street) — funny how all the reviewers here find the fact that 2 Krogers in throwing distance is a little absurd… anyway, I digress. If you want more organic(and just more) options, then head across the street. If you just want to run in real quick and get a few items(and be able to park w/o going insane) — then this is the store for you. The check-out was a bit painful though, even w/o a ton of people. The speed was not top-notch, and they didn’t even ask if I had a Kroger card. Annoying. I only lost 10 cents on my latest visit… but they are MY ten cents. So I’m giving you my 2 cents. Now I’m out 12 cents. Geesh, how is a full-time student to make it in this world? :)

First let me say we love this kroger and shop there all of the time and will continue to, just will NEVER order another cake from there. Their cakes taste good but the ordered cake had several problems. 1. whipped frosting instead of butter cream(no prob unless you don’t like whipped) 2. Picture and cake nothing alike(cake was missing a lot. very plain compared to pic) 3. They waited til last day to call about question on picture and then did it anyway. 4. Colors of frosting were not mixed well at all. A LOT of white in the color. Approx 2⁄3 color 1⁄3 white. 5. Several areas that the writing tip smeared the frosting. $ 15.99 is a lot for not what you wanted. Not like I had time to get something else. Next cake I order I will pay a little more and get it done right.

Today I stopped at this Kroger because it was on my way. It was barely 8am and the store was quiet. Staffers were going about their business and other than the seafood counter being empty, it was like any other visit. Today however, when I went to the checkouts, none were open. I saw a cashier in one station, cleaning, and asked her why the registers were closed. She said I could use the self check out stations, which were open. I had veggies to be weighed etc and said no, I prefer if I could have a cashier. I was again told no, the self serve was all there would be. I asked the gal the name of the store manager, and she said, Jennifer. I inquired her last name and she did not know. I used the dreaded self check out, and to be honest, had no problem with it. What I do have a problem with is if I am paying the full priced cost of groceries at a store like Kroger, then I want a cashier to do the job. As I exited the store I asked another employee the managers name. Again, I was told Jennifer. He too, could not tell me her last name. Seems to me, the staff needs to learn more customer service. It would have been easy to just check me out the old fashioned way. Never even crossed their minds. Sad really. I would rather shop at Aldi, better prices and yes, I do have to bag my own groceries there, but the discount is worth it.

Both of the Krogers across the street from each other on Michigan Ave east of Outer Drive are disappointing. This older smaller one lets fruit and vegetables remain on the shelves after rotting.

Why on earth are there are two Kroger stores on Michigan Avenue almost directly across from one another? You can seriously stand in the doorway of one and look across the street and see the other about a half mile away. This one is my favorite. It’s smaller and older than it’s brother/sister across the way It’s also easier to navigate and has a great closeout sale area. This particular time, I felt like I was robbing them. My haul: I scored some fettuccine, 6 boxes of them. 16 oz boxes for 49 cents. Carb, it up time! 5 Hour Energy, 40 bottles at 44 cents each. Ignite engines! Glow sticks, 6 of them at 35 cents each. Stocking stuffers! Various canned soups and veggies for 25 to 50 cents each. I guess I should eat them. Guess where I’ll be stopping on my next trip to the area?

Sandy is the nicest person I’ve ever met at a grocery store. Definitely made me feel very welcome on my first day in Detroit.

Love this Kroger. Smaller than the one across the street which makes it easier to find what you’re looking for. Nice meat selection. Sale items are always available. Never a line at the service desk. Friendly cashiers. Very nice Kroger!
