This place is awesome! I walked in and it was a little quiet, but I noticed instantly what a team the staff was. They all seemed to get along and I don’t know about you, but I’m a big believer in how the staff acts affects how the food will come out and service will be. Plus, did you know the bread is baked at the store every day? The sand-whiches here taste fresh and aren’t mushed together and globed all over with dressing like other sub shops. Now, whenever I am craving a sub, I definitely head over to Jimmy John’s,

I have a hard time adjusting to this particular jimmy johns. The one back home seemed to be much faster and have more meat. I tried getting my sandwich here twice. The second time it came out faster but still there was practically only one slice of meat! I wouldn’t consider this location to serve gourmet sandwiches as described.

I simply don’t get why Jimmy John’s is a National Chain that remains to stay in business… They are«Freaky Fast’ I’ll give them that, but it’s only because they take NO time to make a sub sandwich that’s worth anything to your taste buds! Seriously, how good can it be when you place your order & within 4 seconds they are handing you your food? The subs are VERY bland, have little to NO ingredents & their breads are TOUGH to chew! They could seriously throw some lettuce, tomato & meat into an old tennis shoe then wrap it up & you’d NEVER know the difference in taste! I seem to believe that there are only a few reasons to EVER order Jimmy John’s. 1) You ordered it by mistake because you thought it was«Firehouse Subs!» 2) You’re extremely drunk! 3) You’re dead broke! 4) You’re dead broke, drunk & ordered it by mistake because you thought it was a «Firehouse Subs!» Once again, Jimmy John’s whole marketing pitch is «Freaky Fast,» so it’s pretty easy to set your expectations based solely on that alone.

This is my first time to the sandwich place but I really enjoyed it. It has a nice clean atmosphere with great music and the staff is very courteous and friendly. I had J.J. Gargantuan and while expensive for an 8 inch sub it was Delicious! Definitely coming back again. Also they are fast!!!

It can get busy during lunch hours, but this is a classic JJ. The sandwiches aren’t too expensive and you pretty much know what you’ll get each time. Standard JJ :)

Better than Subway, but that’s kind of damning with faint praise. Bread is good, the ingredients have always been fresh and fairly tasty in my experience, and they put the fast back in fast food. Publix is still the best bet for a sub in this market, but JJ’s is fine, too.

I’m not really a fan. Dare I say that Subway has better sandwiches? I think so, anyway. It tasted like a sandwich you might get at QT(maybe that’s a stretch but idk… QT has what looks like decent sandwiches) with lots of mayo. I was hungry so I ate it but I probably won’t go back. It was a letdown since a lot of people seem to like this chain. I love mayo as much as the next person but I don’t want to eat a cafeteria style roll(it was in that weird chewy state) with mayo and some other stuff inside that my taste buds can’t enjoy.

One of my long-running food obsessions. What sets them apart from other sub restaurants? The BREAD. And not the seven-grain, it would be a sin to even think about ordering that. The sub roll is where it’s at, but I must warn you: it’s also single-handedly responsible for my 15-pound weight gain in college. This place is the heroin of sub shops: you are likely to become addicted after just one try. Yes, it’s that good, especially when some of Jimmy’s avocado spread is involved. Try it on my first love – the vegetarian(#6). JJ’s also offers«slim» versions of their sandwiches, where you get just the bread and meat. Not my thing usually, but the tuna slim is amazing – it already has plenty of mayo in there, as well as some crunchy celery and onion. If you’re a meat lover, try the Vito(Italian – #5). And that’s the last sandwich I’ll mention since it’s 3:30am and I’m now craving Jimmy John’s. The service is always friendly and extremely fast, almost ridiculously so. It’s in another stratosphere from Subway. Minus a star because the parking is kind of a pain, but then again what isn’t in Decatur?

It’s certainly possible that I have a distorted perception of the definition of «gourmet», but I’m fairly confident that Jimmy John’s is using the adjective loosely when describing its sandwiches. Yes, I agree that this place is a step up from Subway — however, in the end, this is just like comparing Snooki to Lindsay Lohan — they’re both just big hot messes. Food: Jimmy John’s is a national chain that specializes in various incarnations of the submarine sandwich. The menu contains both standard 8″ and«giant club» sandwiches, the latter of which have twice the meat or cheese. Bread options include homemade French or seven grain. Free toppings include: onion, lettuce, tomato, mayo, cucumber, dijon mustard, oil, vinegar, and oregano. Additional toppings, self-serve drinks, cookies, potato chips, and jumbo Kosher dill pickles can also be added to any sandwich for an additional charge. During my visit, I opted for the Pepe, which was comprised of ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Although the ingredients were fresh, the portions were absolutely miniscule — I’ve seen more meat on an East African supermodel. Service: Friendly and quick. However, the clerk did have some difficultly entering my order — apparently you have to state both the name of the sandwich and its corresponding number when ordering — I foolishly assumed that the numbering system was instituted to expedite the ordering process for all those involved. Atmosphere: Clean, but very uninviting and commercial. The ordering counter is located in the center of the restaurant, while approximately ten tables line the front window. A limited number of outdoor tables are also available. Cost: Inexpensive, but you can definitely find higher quality and less expensive sandwiches elsewhere in the near vicinity. Standard 8″ sandwiches are $ 4.50, while giant club sandwiches are $ 5.50. Drinks, cookies, chips, and/or dill pickles are all $ 1-$ 2 each. Other: Although I visited on a Sunday and just parked on the street for free, complimentary parking(validated) is also available for customers in the nearby parking garage. Online ordering(delivery or pick-up) is also available.

I called my order in and the dude was super nice and funny on the phone– even with me changing my order and adding things last minute. I work in the area and they deliver! so convenient. not to mention, they deliver on bikes… fun! i’m vegetarian and their veggie is awesome(yes, the bread plays a big part of that.) everything was fresh and yummy. good food + the amazingly«cool» customer service puts them at 5 stars for me. keep up the good work.

I had a big order for a lunch meeting and they came through like champs. Great taste, fresh bread, not soggy and a decent price. could have used a little more meat.

The bread is great, and their other ingredients always seem tasty and fresh. But what the hell kind of sandwich shop doesn’t have pickles to put on their sandwiches? This automatically disqualifies your shop from having«the world’s greatest gourmet sandwiches,» as Jimmy John’s claims.

My boys brought me back a sub from here today, and it defiantly was yum. I had never been to Jimmy John’s, or had anything off their menu, so I just said pick something up vegetarian. They brought back an 8 inch Vegetarian Gourmet and some Jimmy John brand potato chips. The bread was fantastic, and I have to say it was some of the best bread I’ve had from a chain sub shop. It was soft without being too thin or fluffy, and defiantly tasted fresh. The veggies were fresh too, and the bean sprouts were a nice touch. The tomato tasted better than most chain-restaurant tomatoes, and there was plenty of cheese and avocado spread. My only complaint had to have been that they put way too much mayo on it. But then again, no mayo is the right amount of mayo for me. Oh and the regular potato chips were pretty good too. Crispy and not TOO salty. Yum :) Next time I’ll try delivery.

It’s all about the bread for me and nothing is better than fresh and tasty. The bread makes the sandwich and Jimmy Johns has excellent bread.
