Not little kid-friendly, as it says. No high-chairs. What the crap?! Get some high chairs! Maybe my kid wouldn’t be running around, getting in the way of the food runners if you had them. Food was fine.

I don’t get it. My husband and I have witnessed the lines outside the door and have had multiple locals recommend this place as serving«the best Mexican food in Atlanta.» Needles to say, we really wanted to like it. After a long wait in a short line we were served what I can only describe as what a Canadian would imagine Mexican food to taste like. The tacos come in cold, prepackaged FLOUR tortias, the fish tacos were nothing more than a thin strip of reheated fish. Nothing else! The chicken tacos were akin to a chicken sandwich at McDonalds, mayo and all. I could go on and on. I’ll grant an extra star because the service is quick and friendly once you get through the line at the register.

We have eaten at other Taquerias Del Sol but this was our first time at this branch campus of the University of Unbelievable Tacos. My go-to taco has been the fish(and who could blame me) but this time I thought outside the gills and got a brisket taco AND a carnita taco. What a one-two punch! What could be better? How about a side of veggie refried beans. I have just described gastronomic heaven for under $ 10. Ordering your food is like being in a soup line in a third world country, but after your first bite you are on a bullet train to Savoryville.

Our family has been coming to this place for years and could always get a cheese quesadilla no problem for my younger son who’s a really picky eater – its the only thing on their menu he’ll eat. But apparently once a kid is one month over the kids menu limit, they will no longer serve you a cheese quesadilla – even if you offer to pay more or even double. We had waited in line for over 30 minutes only to be told they absolutely would NOT even consider making one – not even an «ok, we’ll do it this time since you didn’t know, but in the future…». We even asked to speak to the manager and the answer was a solid NO. It wasn’t even that busy. The food is good and a solid value, but wow, customer service isn’t important to these guys at all. Not sure we’ll be back anytime soon. They have a reputation for not wanting kids in the restaurant.

LOVETHISPLACE… The food is cheap and the atmosphere is great. I normally get the shrimp and corn chowder with the lemon sauce chicken enchiladas.

I’ve been an aficionado of Eddie Hernandez and his riff on New Mexico cooking since day one. The quality has never faltered and his genius at adapting southern style cooking is evident. The recent green chile chicken pot pie is a good example. Prices are reasonable and the lines at lunch and dinner attest to it’s continued popularity.

Soooo, I’ve never been served a taco with zero roughage! Once we were past that foolishness(apparently you have to request lettuce, pico, etc. on some of the tacos), the food was tasty and nicely priced though everything was a la carte. Also, my first time eating tex-mex and having to buy chips and salsa… but OK. Overall, enjoyable. I couldn’t help notice the drink menu was more extensive than the food menu. Again, OK, but no bueno on my lunch break. Bottom line I will be back with my learned knowledge of said missing taco roughage. SN The inside is small. The enclosed outside area was quite nippy today. On a cool day, have your jacket.

We love the sol. It is not as good as the attention it is getting but good enough to visit when there is not a long line.

Always a go to when you want comfort food. You can’t go wrong with the fish or friend chicken tacos. The veggie bean is also a favorite. Expect to stand in line it’s that good.

Excuse me for starting with this, but this place is CHEAP! Considering that it’s getting harder and harder to find good and cheap Mexican food, this is an excellent, very reasonably priced little taqueria. I tried the Carnitas and Veggie tacos and a house margarita. The food was pretty good but the margarita stole the show! If you are a normal amount of hungry, be sure to get two tacos. Or get a couple more and hit the Orange Theory Fitness down the street ;)

This place is delicious and a fantastic value. The shrimp and corn chowder is not to be missed. I really like the fried chicken and fish taco, but the pork or brisket ones are alright as well. You order at the counter(unless you’re sitting at the bar) and they bring the food to you. Dinner to for two will set you back about $ 20 unless you’re drinking. I don’t know why I come her so infrequently, but it’s really tasty. They have a parking lot which is nice as well. No need to pay for parking. Usually cheap doesn’t go along with delicious, but TDS breaks that rule!

Man where do I start? I’ll start with how bomb their margaritas are! I actually don’t like tequila ATALL, but for some reason, I will only tolerate Taqueria Del Sol’s margs! They are so perfect! All you need is one honestly: X Next, their guacamole is so amazing! When I first started going here, I ordered just one. Now, I order two and down it before my entrees come out! it’s just that good and I don’t even like avocados at all! So weird what this place does to me lol I always order a green chile enchilada and a fish taco. Most of the menu is a la carte which I like because I can mix and match. The only thing I don’t like is finding parking. Its just not enough to support their customers. I don’t know if it’s just mostly how restaurants are in Decatur, but there has been times where I had to drive around a few blocks and walk over to the store. Then after all that searching, you have to sometimes wait in a long line in front of the store. So, I wouldn’t recommend coming here starving lol Although, you can go to the bar order yourself a marg and stand back in line which I’ve done plenty.

This is the place where people who don’t know Mexican food come to eat. It is a sad version of what most people think Mexican food is. Here’s one thing you’ll never hear among Mexicans: «Hey, who wants to go to taqueria del sol?»

Had lunch here Friday. The line was out the door and close to the street. The food was exceptional, and the staff were friendly. I ordered The Bob, Brisket Enchiladas w/lemon cream, and the chowder. The Bob was a light shrimp taco with jalapeños which was heavy on the aioli(just the I like it). Brisket enchiladas were well prepared, but the lemon cream tasted very much like lemon curd. The lemon flavor was too much for what I expected. Lastly, the chowder was fantastic! I’m definitely going back and bring more people with me! :-)

When we got here on a Friday evening, the line was out the door so I thought this place would be pretty good. We ordered frozen margaritas to drink while we were waiting to order food, which were pretty good! But after we got our food, I was really disappointed… I have no idea why there was such a big crowd! We ordered queso, guacamole, the chicken tacos, the fish tacos, & the chicken enchilada with lemon cream sauce. The only good parts were the queso & guac, the fish taco was decent. The chicken is described as «roasted chicken» but had absolutely no flavor & that cream sauce is disgusting. I had to douse both in hot sauce, sat/pepper, etc., to extract some flavor from them. I’m definitely not going back!

This place is fantastic. Very limited menu options. But. All the options they have are excellent. Great service. Nice and clean location. I would recommend the menu. Everything is good. But if you need something pork enchilada with lemon cream sauce. Also try to queso and Guac. Really tasty. Only downfalls are the hours are very odd. There’s always a line out the door. And only one register working at a time. Nevertheless really good food and I have come back every time I have been in the ATL!!!

This is a great spot to grab some good tacos and they definitely will go outside of the norm to bring some exotic dishes you wouldn’t normally see from a taco shop. Fried Chicken and Fish are my standout tacos which I have to get everytime I come here. There isnt much parking here and fair warning this place gets SLAMMED ive never seen a longer line of people waiting for food here. The plus is you can order drinks and take them back to the line but since its order then sit it can take a little while. Its a good spot but man it can get busy, great for them but can be a bit frustrating sometimes.

Wow. Mediocre, or downright negative reviews lately? «not real _______» «bad service» etc??? It is real food. Not«real New Mexico», not«real Mexican», but real SW food by a real *local* interpretation of those SW tastes. My wife and her family are from New Mexico, and many of the menu items at TDS are based on NM food and usually contain NM ingredients. Last time I checked it is in Decatur, GA though, not ABQ or Santa Fe. My wife loves TDS as much as I do, and every time her family visits they love to go to TDS too! If anyone wants an exact copy of a certain food from a certain place, then go to that place… and stay there! Stay out of Decatur while you are at it :-) For those that think it is expensive — Really? Go somewhere else, have a pitcher of Texas, chips & cheese, and a plate of food for you, one for the wife, and one for the kid, then walk out with a 2 digit bottom line on your check. Not happening. I have never even heard of a better deal on dining. I get 2 – 3 tacos, sometimes a side, and as stated we usually have a pitcher(or a few if joined by friends), and after many years of dining here, I am still always delighted when given our total by whichever lovely lady happens to be taking our orders that visit. Don’t like the line? Then don’t get in it. Thanks, those of us who are in it, and like being in it at TDS appreciate being around others who like to enjoy a drink and socialize in line with others doing the same. Not a right /wrong thing, but if it doesn’t work for you then don’t do it. I have never seen any place with a line where most of the regulars are happy to be in it, but TDS is that place. Have a margarita, chit chat with other locals, and lighten up. Just to make sure you get it: ***Don’t like the line? Then don’t get in it.*** As for the food? AHMAZEING. Rotating special tacos every week, as well as rotating«BLUEPLATE» and«SEAFOOD» specials. This week is one of my current favorite special tacos — The BLT — «A flour tortilla filled with bacon, lettuce, tomato and roasted tomatillo mayonnaise.». Not sure what kind of magic, or crack, or what is in that mayonnaise, but I could, and have, eaten 4 of these. I recently started enjoying their Cole Slaw. It makes for a nice addition to whatever else I choose on any given visit. A great sweet, flavorful concoction with a subtle jalapeño flavor. The Memphis and Brisket are two of my favorite standards, but the anticipation of specials keeps my wife and I giddy for a TDS visit many weeks after we learn it is one of our favorites that week. Drinks? Better than decent beer selection, but I don’t come here for beer. I come here for food and… Texas Margarita, no salt. One of the best Texas ritas I have ever had anywhere, and I have had quite a few(in lot’s of places). It is currently in my all time top 5 margaritas with no trouble. And it is a competitive price too! If you want to step it up to another level, check out the«Westside», but don’t try too many — you will need a ride home if you do :-P Haters gonna hate, but go hate somewhere else. Stay away from TDS! :-)
