Pork was dry. Lacking in a variety of sauces & the sauce they do have stinks. Would not go back :-(

They just bulldozed this location. They are moving to 441 and Clint Moore Road, in the Publix Shopping Center up there.

Bummer… this location is now closed and they are moving west to a new location. Damn, I was really in a mood for their pulled pork sandwich for lunch today and when I drove into the parking lot I read the sign that they are closed and moving. BBQ Lunch FAIL for me today

Since some people are grading this place on various«curves» I will also do the same. Compared to real BBQ places, which this place claims to be, it’s definitely sub-par. Service was great all around when we stopped in for lunch, aside from it taking over 5 minutes for someone to come to the front and seat us. On to the food. The onion rings are frickin’ delicious. Hand-battered sweet onions, fried nice and crispy. Can’t go wrong there. But… that was where the good ended. I had the pulled pork sandwich and honestly, it was like chewing rubber bands. I’ve never had such dry, rubbery pork shoulder ever(even when I myself first tried to make it). It was downright bad. The garlic bread that comes with a meal came frozen from a bag. Come on guys, garlic bread is easy and cheap to make. The sauce was basically sugar, ketchup, and brown sugar. It was so sweet, it made the sweet tea taste bitter. It’s passable if your expectations are low, but unfortunately mine are not when a place is supposedly known for their BBQ.

Good place for lunch. Haven’t had a bad experience here yet and have been here about a dozen times. I like their french fries, burgers and BBQ sandwiches.

Nice place but it doesn’t have the same feel as the original shorty’s on US1 in Miami. The night I went they didn’t have brisket(their signature dish) the dish my waiter suggested(ribs) was tasty.

I’ve been to Shorty’s about 3 times and I always get their 3-cheese burger. I guess I can’t give a valid assessment of their BBQ but I would definitely come back just for the same burger. If you like to take-out a lot, they are pretty accommodating– there’s a little room just for take-outs so you can have a seat and wait in there. They have dead animal decorations all over the walls so don’t make the same awkward mistake that I made once and avoid taking your vegan acquaintances to a BBQ place(especially this one)!

Shorty’s is a barbecue chain, which is an oxymoron, but I have to grade it on the South Florida barbecue curve. It might only be a two or three star place in other parts of the country, but down here, it is a very solid choice to help satisfy a serious barbecue craving.

NOSURPRISETHATTHISPLACEISCLOSED!!! I have always liked to have new experience with food, but this one I could have done without… My partner and I made a trip to Shorty’s BBQ in Deerfield Beach in the hopes of having a decent meal, we obliviously had bargained for too much. We were aware of this very soon on when we walked in, we stood at an empty hostess station for 3 to 4 minutes before we were finally attended to. Another server came out and asked us or herself«where is this girl?», referring to the server that we would unfortunately be serving us. We were seated and finally our server Rachel came over reeking of cigarettes, I asked her if she had just come back from a smoke and if so, did she wash her hands? She said she had not, and she said that she«always washes her hands though…» We were not buying it at all. When we looked at the menu, we where never helped by her as to what they offered and we where never told about the specials or combos. That made ordering a longer and unpleasant experience. I said to her that I wanted to have ribs. All she did was point with her dirty hands at the items on the page I was looking at. She never showed us the combos page or made any other selling suggestions. While we were waiting for our food, she was sweeping up and doing some end of shift cleaning. When our food was ready, she did not wash her hands before going into the kitchen. She may have done so in the back out of our sight, but I don’t believe that she did. When the food came to the table, my partners pulled pork sandwich was not hot at all, I asked her how they heated up the pork, she said that was not done in a microwave. She took the plate and returned in 2 minutes and the pork was warmer but still not hot and the BBQ sauce had not changed color, this is a a sure indicator that it was reheated in a microwave oven and not in a sauté pan. When she had put my food down, her fingers were in the food, I was losing my appetite by the minute. My ribs were hot enough and so were my veg, but they lacked flavor and seasoning. The price was reasonable for the sandwich, $ 7.79, but 15.99 for flavorless ribs I thought was just bit too much. During the course of the meal we were never asked if we wanted more to drink or how our food was. There was a clear absence of any kind of management there and lack of interest in the quality of the food or the service. We were very disappointed in the overall experience In summery, If you want bad service cold-hot food and do this in a dirty place, then Shorty’s is for you… I would say that this a place to avoid and tell your friend to avoid as well. When I followed up with phone call to the corporate office, I spoke with Regina, she said I needed to speak with Mark. But he was in a meeting and I needed to call back in an hour. She never asked me for my Name or phone # to have Mark call me back. So my assumption is that the problems in this small chain of restaurants are systemic, from the top on down. In this economy where a night out is a special and infrequent occasion for some, and this and all restaurants should make every attempt to ensure that they retain costumers and give them a good reason to return. They did everything to ensure that we never return and tell everyone of our bad experience there so they can avoid this restaurant and all of their the stores.

I’ve been here 3 times in the past year. Tonight I had the half chicken and a side of corn on the cob. The food is good. As other reviewers have noted, service is a little slow. I was surprised that I had finished my meal and waited about 5 more minutes to get the check.(I was by myself). Normally, waitresses give you the check toward the end of the meal so they can clear the table fast.

OK place with OK food and decent service. I’ve had much better BBQ but they offer a nice amount of sides and are relatively cheap, especially for dinner.

They were okay. The first thing I had were the onion rings, which were battered and fried to perfection. This was my first time having onion rings, they were delicious with the horseradish sauce. Then I had the pulled pork sandwich, it was quite tasty but nothing to rave about.

Horrible service. Beg for a server, then beg for your check. Chicken on chicken salad worst ever. Avoid this place.

Thank you to Shortys staff for staying open late for the hashers. You were friendly and the service was fantastic. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and it was pretty tasty and tender.

It is not named Shorty’s because you have a short wait for your food. To be fair we went for lunch on Friday so it was prime time. Not filled to capacity but a good crowd. 29 minute wait from time order was placed until meals arrived. Ordered the rib special off the lunch menu. 3 tasty ribs(not baby back) coleslaw and choice of ff, sweet potato, baked potato or rice. Ribs were a bit fatty but tasty. Learned that you should eat them without the warm sauce you can get on the side otherwise will be running for the Rolaides. Friends had beef brisket, pulled pork and ribs. No complaints other than the N.C. bbq sauce for the pulled pork. Waitresses are friendly and dressed in hokey cowgirl attire. Oh yeah, fingerprints and smudges on the windows which drives me crazy. Even a bbq joint can pay attention to small details.

I had Shorty’s cater a family party and let me say the food and entire experience was all we expected and more! They called my cell to let me know they were on there way and arrived right on time. We had them cook on site so they allowed the perfect amount of time for set up and had the food ready to serve just as we’d agreed. The ribs and chicken were great and so were all the sides(except for the corn on the cob — but I wasn’t expecting it to be great anyways). We also had burgers and dogs which were a great hit. The price was very reasonable and there was more than enough food for everyone even though we had some crashers. The chef and her assistant could not have been nicer. I would recommend them for catering and use them again if I were having a party that large again!

Clean and good service, but I didn’t like the foot at all. I had a pork sandwich, which had a ton of meat, but no sauce and a crappy little bun. Wife had the chicken, it was decent, but I don’t see myself ever going back.

I’ve been told by a southern man that the key to good bar-b-a is the sauce. Shorty’s has a good sauce. I’ve had the ribs, the chicken, even their burger and it’s all been good. I’ve only been dissapointed with slow lunch service once and the manager took good care of us to make it right. This is a good lunch option.
