This restaurant has been in the bussines for a while. I have been eating here since I was young and it is pretty good. I love the tacos and the people that work here. They are so nice and their food is delicious. I definitely recommend it.

My go to Mexican in DeKalb. 4 stars is pretty good for me. Friendly staff, good tacos(I normally get Al Pastor, Mexican Style). We eat in and/or take out. Their beans are some of the best I’ve had, very creamy. Can’t go wrong here.

Really good food for a great value. My husband and I both ate the cheese enchilada dinner and it was delicious. I also love the décor and the beautiful plants everywhere, it makes the place feel alive and vibrant. Service was friendly and polite. We’re definitely coming back, well done!

Let me preface this review by saying that I absolutely love eating authentic Mexican food – I make my own salsa as a hobby, I can it, I’m pretty much in a relationship with Mexican food. I’ve been in Dekalb just over a year, and there’s only one Mexican restaurant in town that I haven’t tried yet. This was my second visit to Tacos Salsas Y Carnitas, my first carry-out experience, and my last time visiting altogether. The only reason I came here is because Burritoville across the street was closed for renovations, and this was the closest place I could think of. I was really hungry and didn’t want to wait. I came in at about 7:30PM on a Tuesday Night, and at the time I came in, there was a group of 3 people ahead of me in line – great, I wouldn’t have to wait long! Boy, was I wrong. I placed my order easily enough, though the waitress didn’t seem to write down everything I wanted in my burrito. I noticed this and repeated the order a few times and she insisted she had it down correctly. So I paid – getting scalped an extra dollar to have a couple spoonfuls of rice in my burrito, plus another $ 1.75 for guacamole – and stood off to the side to wait for my order. Again, remember that there were only three people ahead of me in line when I came in. I waited, I waited, and I waited some more. I waited until my feet started to hurt from standing in one place for so long. I’m pretty patient, so it wasn’t for some time that I looked at the clock and realized that 20 minutes had gone by since I placed my order – a little bit disappointing, but again, I was hungry, so I kept my mouth shut and kept waiting. Finally, a total of 30 minutes after I placed my order(one burrito!), my food comes out, I get my salsa, and I go. I get back home and get ready to dig in. Now, for the burrito, it’s definitely on the smaller side of what is typically served in Dekalb. The salsa is some kind of weird blended consistency, completely liquid, and opaque, neither the color of tomatoes or most chili peppers. After tasting it, the heat was good, the flavor was extremely lacking. At this point, I just want to get the burrito inside of me and call it a day. So I start eating, and of course I don’t get everything I asked for in my burrito, they forgot to put in the onion and the cilantro. Overall, the flavor of the burrito is extremely bland. So, completely disappointed, nine dollars closer to being broke, and an hour of my time gone, I finish eating, throw everything in the trash, and tell myself I’ll never go back there for Mexican Food again. Taco Bell is like a 3 minute drive away, and I honestly believe I would have been better off going there, instead of this place.

This is the best authentic Mexican food in the Dekalb/Sycamore area. Way better than the Burritoville across the street. Beware! The sign is labeled La Salsa and there’s a caption underneath it saying Tacos Salsas Y Carnitas. This is the right place! My boyfriend and I went for the first time there a couple of days ago and all the food was so great. The burritos we ordered to go were very presentable. A little less filled compared to Burritoville’s, but cut in half and not soggy. The salsas we got were very spicy, but it’s not a bad thing. We also ordered the horchata, which was delicious. The other places that sell horchata in the area are waterier, but this one was packed with flavor. One thing I only had to complain about so far was the refried beans were a little too watery when we went. Other than that, this restaurant is the place to go.

There seems to be quite a number of Mexican restaurant in the DeKalb/Sycamore area for the size of the community. Overall, they are of just fine quality, with a few that I will not step foot in. This place though is the best I have had in region. Tacos have been great every time I eat here and I have made it a regular go to spot for my Mexican food. Go here if u want Mexican food in DeKalb/Sycamore. Can’t do any better then this place in the region.

Five stars. It’s not just authentic Mexican Food; it’s amazing authentic Mexican food! The breakfast plate I had was amazing; eggs with green peppers, onions and tomatoes, beans, rice and tortillas. The tortillas were perfect! They were light, not a heavy corn taste and warmed to perfection. Kids has burritos. The tortillas are just perfect! We will be back.

This is the only place to get Mexican food in dekalb. Great service, speedy cooking, and awesome prices. I’ve been going here for ten years now. Sure it might be a little rundown, but it’s better than the other Mexican places in dekalb. Only downside is that it isn’t open late!

Excellent Mexican food! They start you off chips, Pico and two kinds sauce. We ordered a combination that came with a chicken taco & enchilada with beans and rice. The soft corn tortilla was delicious and combo was only $ 5.99. We also ordered mixed fajitas that were very good and they were not skimpy on the shrimp!

Awesome steak tacos. Salsa is super spicy but good. Rice and beans are always good. Haven’t strayed from that typical order.

I am a regular here, and it is consistently good every single time. To sum it up, it is way better than any Mexican restaurant in the Dekalb/Sycamore area, and it is authentic and delicious. I will be a regular even after I graduate– I love this place.

Loveeeeee this place. It’s mine and my friends absolute favorite. Really the best steak tacos and tortas in dekalb. We stick with steak tacos and tortas so I can’t speak on everything else but the ladies are really sweet as well. Love the food.

11÷19÷14 Went in for my first time cause of Unilocal and Google reviews. Ordered 3 tacos, 1 burrito, and fries. Tacos were okay(lettuce, tomato, beef, onion), shells were soft, but tasted off(don’t eat them cold). The burrito was regular(with re-fried beans), with cheese and salsa. No salsa, burrito was SUPER greasy, no beans or salsa was added to burrito. They didn’t give me any fries(even though they took my ticket, CLEARLY with FRIES on it), and because I didn’t get a receipt I couldn’t confirm I had paid for the fries or not(my fault). The salsa they gave on the side was nothing but hot sauce… No veggies, runny, and bland. I will never go here again.

Without question the best mexican restaurant in town. While I’ve had better elsewhere is quality mexican food at a reasonable price. They are off the beaten path so I think most never go past it but it’s worth the trip off IL38.

This place is the best taco place I’ve ever been to. I’m from Chicago and went to school in DeKalb. I ate here multiple times a week for years. I could not get enough. I was a «regular» and the waitstaff knew my order almost always. I’d switch it up on them sometimes. You can not go wrong with their burritos, steak tacos, and enchiladas in green sauce. The enchiladas are my fav! You guys should be open late night. Unfortunately I moved out of DeKalb but I will be back just to eat here!

First, it has no sign right now and was hard to find my first time there. Second, it is in a run down shady strip mall. Two strikes like that and is still open, good sign for the food. Steak tacos are great, and a huge portion of meat. Salsas are also excellent. I’m a green salsa guy, but their red is a taste changer. Get all three when you order: green, red, and they have a pico de gallo also. Three tacos, three salsas, three unique tastes. I have to ding them for inconsistent sides, first time: great rice, gross watery beans. Second time, dry rice, average beans. Try it out, the tacos are kick ass.

First off, I love Mexican food! I’ve had my fair share of it over the years. This is by far the best place I’ve eaten. I came here with one of my friends for dinner this Sunday evening. We were in town for an event. There weren’t many people present and I was a bit nervous. Could all these reviews I read be wrong?! No. No, they were not! Our waitress was very polite and quickly took our drink order and brought them back just as swiftly along with some chips and salsa and some made to order guacamole that my friend ordered. There were 3 salsa varieties for us to enjoy. There were two in bottles and the third was a fresh salsa in a small bowl. That is the one that I chose to partake in. That was the freshest and most delicious salsa I’ve had the pleasure to eat! My friend absolutely loved the guacamole. We had some time to look over the menu and I quickly decided to get my favorite, tacos with rice and beans. I was crossing my fingers that I would not be disappointed. My friend decided on the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Both of our selections were a cool $ 5.99(can’t beat that). The wonderful waitress came back and we placed the order. Our food was brought over to us in a short amount of time. Things just keep getting better! The food looked so delicious! Needless to say, we dug in to our food right away. The beans have a very nice consistency and the rice was great. It was cooked properly and had a nice flavor as a traditional Mexican rice. Yum! My favorite part of the meal was tacos of course! These were above and beyond the best tacos I’ve ever had! The meat was flavored very well. The tortillas were outstanding! They are homemade and I venture to guess that they were made today or yesterday. They were so soft and yummy! My friend was very happy with her meal as well! All around, this is a great place to eat. My friend and I have decided that we will make the 30 mile trek from to come here again soon! It’s worth it!

I give this place four stars for affordability and awesome deals. The meals typically include two tacos or a burrito with beans, rice, and a drink for about 5 – 7 dollars. WAAYY cheaper and way more delicious than any of it’s other competition around DeKalb such as Burritoville and El Burrito Loco. You also get unlimited free chips and salsa when you dine in! However, I take away one star for having less-than-stellar horchata. I’d save a couple dollars and skip it if I were you.

This place was excellent. I had a work dinner for 15 nearby and couldn’t find much else… called Tacos at 11 and they suggested there meal lunch special of 3 tacos, beans and rice(and pop) for $ 5.99. I got 5 orders of chicken tacos meal, 5 steak and 5 ground beef. Everyone loved it and we all stuffed our bellies! Really hit the spot for authentic food, great flavors and priced just right. Thanks Tacos!

Love this joint. I probably come here about 4 times a month. I live by El Burrito Loco(now called«3 Burrito’s or something) and I gladly go out of my way to make it to Salsas y Carnitas(also called«La Salsa Restaurant»). La Salsa is my favorite Mexican restaurant in DeKalb. The food is made with a lot of love. The 2 taco dinner is my favorite. At lunch time you get 3 tacos for the same price as the previous($ 5.99) and that comes with a drink too. They DO take credit cards. I saw earlier a review that said«cash only». The ambiance is best in the daytime when the tacky fluorescent lights aren’t on. This place is more of a «fast Mexican/to go» food place than a comfy restaurant to take a first date to. But they do still operate like a «restaurant» with a waitress who brings you chips and menus and you tip her nicely please! Some of the staff do not speak very good English, so be relaxed and make sure you are getting what you want.
