Del Mar Property Management

SANDI LANZAROTTA CHAN is a scroundrel. All she cares about is getting your money. She does no background checks on tenants and will rent to anyone without checking references. She just wants her money and is gone. No morals or integrity at all. Oh yes, she comes on very sweet with her pumpkin go to church act but watch out not an word of truth comes out of that mouth.
Sandi rented my unit and charged me an outrageous fee to find a tenant. All she did was look at the application and never checked references. As it turned out the tenant, would not pay rent, stayed in unit until evicted and trashed the unit. No pets was in the lease and Sandi rented to him with a puppy. I was unaware. BEWARE OF THIS WOMAN and Del Mar Property Management. It is criminal what they do. Do not rent or have them manage your property they are the worse scam artists.

Be very wary of renting from Del Mar Property Management.
I lived in a property that they managed for a few years and there was nothing but endless promises and a general distain for their tenants. Here are a few examples:
(a) Sandi Lanzarotta Chan. Sandi is the owner of Del Mar Property Management. She seems as though she is one of those people who not only doesn’t really understand how to talk to people, she just doesn’t care what is or is not legal, ethical, or otherwise socially appropriate. There is typically an: I’m better than you, attitude that she exudes which is disgustingly inappropriate.
(b) Bait and Switch. A couple other the other tenants, upon verbally agreeing to move into the apartment at the listed price of, let’s say $ 1500, were rudely surprised when they showed up at the offices to be told that the rent would actually be $ 1600. And, to add insult to injury, they were told that if they didn’t want it for $ 1600, then there was a line of people behind them who did.
© Promises promises promises. On numerous occasions, Sandi made promises about this or that upgrade, none of which were ever carried out. This is a common trick: Tenants are getting annoyed about something, Prop Manager makes promises about this or that, and then tenants are temporarily placated by the hope that things will change. Be assured, with Del Mar Prop Management, they won’t.
(d) Good Cop Bad Cop. All of the other people who work for Del Mar Property Management are pleasant and kind, but when asked about something or when they need to deliver news, it is always: Sandi says… When then questioned about the said issue, the reply is: I’ll ask Sandi. Then, when the answer is: No, the explanation is: Sandi didn’t want this or that. Aside from this, it is difficult to get to actually talk to Sandi and if you do… see (a) and © above. Basically there is a lot of passing the buck in this company.
(e) Everything that is repaired, cleaned, or generally taken care of is done very cheaply. The groundskeeping company does as little as is humanly possible, so that it actually looks like they showed up (whether they did is still sometimes in doubt). Interior repairs are shoddy at best and they are happy to let things degrade until they are really not at all salvageable. Your apartment might look good when you move in, but don’t count on Dell Mar Prop Management doing anything to keep it that way. On top of this, Sandi «expects» you to have a professional cleaning company in to «Deep Clean» the apartment before you leave. I’m not talking about the carpets, I’m talking about everything. Be aware.
If that’s not enough, just go ask other tenants, you’ll see.

If I could sum up the Del Mar Property Management, this would be the word I’d use: UNETHICAL!
I would also add:
1– Lack of response and professionalism.
2– May give you a verbal offer, and turn their back on you, would something better /​higher comes around, while denying they had anything to do w/​the decision making.
3– Very unprofessional way of handling a business, including making false «statements» and not being up front about things. In addition to not following up within the time frame agreed upon.
Bottom line, as an owner I would never use their services, and as a renter, these trades are huge red flags.
I was hesitant to write anything, but the other reviews unfortunately are right on the money!

They don’t pick up the phone. Don’t return phone calls, or reply to emails. This is even before buying or leasing from them. I can only imagine what would be their customer service like AFTER buying or leasing.
