Let me preface this review by telling you that I am the farthest thing from a food snob or someone who needs to be waited on hand and foot. That said, the reviews on this place that complain about the service are spot on. I booked a 7:30 reservation about a week in advance, called to conform the day before and still never got a table. We walked in right at 7:30. Took someone about 5 minutes to a even come ask us if we had a reservation. I nicely explained we did. Our table wasn’t ready so we decided to grab a drink at the bar. Whatever. Tables aren’t always ready. We actually enjoy grabbing a drink while waiting for a table to be ready. Found 2 seats at the bar, took them 30 minutes to get a drink. Then spent half and hour drinking wine out of dirty glasses. Finally walked out at 8:30. To be fair, the food coming out of the kitchen looked good. Not that it was coming out too often. Might be a place worth trying on a slow night though. I doubt I will be back.

The restaurant was understaffed and although our waitress was pleasant the service was poor. It took over an hour for our entrees to come and some of them came out luke warm. We had to ask for water several times and we were never asked if we wanted another round of drinks. When we we complained about the service we were ignored. I will not be coming back.

While most reviews for this restaurant are good, the reviews also suggest that the restaurant has on days and off days service-wise. We ate there on an off day: It took over an hour for our«entrees»(a burger and a bowl of soup) to come out after our appetizers were picked up. The waitress didn’t warn us about an upcoming delay, nor did she apologize for the delay later. On top of that, she left the restaurant before bringing the bill, so someone else had to cover for her. We were in the restaurant for a total of an hour and 50 minutes — for mussels, a burger, and soup. We won’t be returning. P. S. The restaurant canceled our OpenTable reservation a couple hours after we were left. We can’t be sure of their motivation, but a relevant fact is that you can’t review a restaurant on OpenTable unless the reservation has been fulfilled.

Great food and great service! Unfortunately it was completely ruined by the management. From my understanding, the owner works for tips WHILE drinking wine all night behind the bar. I personally observed him drink 4 generous glasses, while serving tables and tending the bar within my 45 minute dining experience. Perhaps, even more disturbing, was how wine-stained his teeth were when he haphazardly greeted a few tables, mine included.100% unethical and does nothing but diminish my respect for the establishment. Especially as I watched the servers in non-stop action while the proprietor leisurely consumed alcohol and made a few extra dollars. The place also seems to have no direction in marketing based on the total lack of atmosphere. I was very reluctant and a bit apprehensive to give it a shot, and was proven to be rightfully so. Completely unorganized and nowhere near capable of handling a third of the available seating. It was absolute chaos with only a few tables! I was also told to expect a show with my meal as there are always high stress issues with the staff… And what a show we got! There seemed to be a pretty heavy argument with a server and the owner that was carried into the dining room. The owner followed the server around calling him names in a taunting manner. At this point I was 90% positive the owner was intoxicated. This, has undoubtedly been the most uncomfortable dining experience my husband and I have ever had. I never write reviews but I felt obligated to share my experience with bistro 241 considering how bizarre it turned out. Once again, this is not a review regarding the kitchen performance. Despite the horrible atmosphere created by the owner himself, the food was very tasty and Alex, our server, was great as well.

Great hidden jem! Love that not everyone knows about this spot in the grove so we can enjoy a good meal. Second time here both have been great. Lunch & dinner. Tonight dinner was seared tuna, fish tacos and burger… all 100% fresh and amazing! Gotta remember to come back oh and they have Kalik gold!

Short story: terrible service, extremely rude manager and 1 hour and 15 minute wait to not even get our appetizers. Walked out without even eating, to a very non-apologetic manager. Long story: We arrived at the restaurant around 7:00pm. Our waiter comes over after 5 – 10 minutes. Not bad right? He takes our drink order and we put in two appetizers, muscles and a quinoa salad, but does not bring water out to the people who ordered a cocktail. Again, not terrible but oh well. Then the wait starts. After about 15 minutes, the manager asked if we had taken our order. We tell him no and the server comes and takes our order. Now, our appetizer order went in around 7:15pm. This was a family gathering of 8 people so we were all talking till someone notices around 8:00 that no food has been arrived. No bread, no appetizers, no soups ordered. Now the conversation died down and we all start to realize. After bringing this up with our waiter who was going to check on the appetizers, we talk for 10 minutes about this-why is there no food after 30 – 45 minutes? Around 7:55 we tell the manager that we had plans and we have to cancel our entrees but keep the appetizers in(we had an older couple who needed to eat and could not be out that late to prior engagements). The manager is in shock that we would think of canceling our main order after not receiving our appetizers after nearly an hour. The manager said the food is coming out in just a minute and then goes to the back. For the next 20 minutes, we see two tables that came in after we did get some of the same food we ordered yet we still had nothing! We even finally saw the muscles we ordered that past our table and went to a table that sat after us! It was about 8:20, 1 hour and 15 minutes after we arrived that we decided to pick up our stuff and move on. The manager comes over while we are all leaving saying he «did not have time to deal with this…» And was extremely rude. We payed for our drinks and left. Also I ordered an old fashion cocktail and it came in a wine glass… But that’s a different story.

This is not a review on the food as I’ve not yet eaten here but a review on the owner and staff. I bought books at the local bookstore and left them at a table outside of this restaurant. I did not discover I had lost them until over 24 hrs later. I put on my Sherlock Holmes cap and got to work trying to figure out where last I had them. It came to my attention that a server at Bistro 241 found them. I called the restaurant which was not yet open for the day. The owner went out of his way to contact the server who found them and they both met me within minutes of my call with books in hand. With THAT kind of customer service for someone who’s never eaten there, makes me think they are especially accommodating to their patrons! Next time I’m in the area I’m definitely having a meal there!!! Thank you, thank you for your kindness!!!

First visit to bistro 241 and perhaps it was the night, the lack of staff, what we ordered or the atmosphere… I found it quite underwhelming. My husband and I wanted to share a fish entrée but the waiter/owner suggested that most of the entrees were not share worthy.(how did he know how much we wanted to eat– I wondered.) I ordered a caprese salad which was nothing special. Tomatoes cut in wedges with slivers of mozzarella which had arugula on the top. The arugula was the best part. My husband had a Caesar salad that was drenched in garlic and the romaine was wilted rather than crisp. I tried to order a crab cake but they were out of it. Our entrees were a vegetarian cauliflower steak with quinoa… Again not worth $ 15 and not special. As far as service… The owner/waiter ran table to table covering the entire restaurant by himself. I thought I was watching a one man tennis match. He was very nice but filled the jobs of server, bus boy, waiter for the entire place. I got dizzy watching him. I felt so badly for him. It was quite distracting watching him fly. The atmosphere inside was like someone threw a bunch of tables, threw up a few random chandeliers and painted the ceiling Crimson. The walls had no design and the design had no appeal or perhaps the restaurant had no design at all. It was tough to take. The red ceiling in combination with chandeliers made the light loom like a dungeon. I have heard good and bad about Bistro 241. There are some great reviews. I know this is the son of Joseph’s who’s food, service and atmosphere is fantastic. Perhaps it was a bad night so we will probably try it again and sit outside. Sorry :(

Was a great little fine for us. The food was outstanding. The staff was quite helpful and could not do enough for us. This atmosphere was cozy. The manager was welcoming. Actually recommend this without hesitation. We can’t wait to go back. I couldn’t stop eating the truffle mash potatoes. Fish tacos as well as scallops and steak were all excellent

Ok locals! Come on out, this is by far one of the best restaurants in Delray Beach. The food is of the highest quality, amazing flavor, sauces, and wine… love love love the owner who is so kind and attentive. He works from his heart, love to support this place. If I could eat here every day I would.

With out of town guests in hand, we made and kept 7:30 reservations. We ordered wine and after 20 minutes were told that they didn’t have what we ordered. Another 30 minutes before the drinks arrived. The server went over the specials and we ordered 3 short ribs plus pasta and tuna. An hour later the ribs and pasta finally arrived. It took another 30 minutes to get the tuna. One order of the ribs was grizzle and inedible. When we told the owner that we were unhappy he became argumentative. The server delivered an additional order of tuna and when we said that we only ordered one tuna, the server replied, «whatever». This was the worst dining experience in a city with many great places to eat. Good luck.

Stopped by on a Saturday night in what passes for the trendy part of Delray Beach and had this place suggested to us at the wine bar we stopped into initially. We were looking for dinner more than wine, so this seemed to be a decent alternative. The waitstaff were attentive but obviously unprepared to answer even simple questions. We ordered the mezze sharing plate, which they brought out without the hummus, which is sort of the point of the thing. When I asked the server about it, he didn’t seem to know that it was supposed to be there. Only after we asked did the owner/manager tell us that he had to send out for it from their other restaurant, while attempting(and failing) to play it off like it had been the plan all along. Other than that, the food was overpriced and undergood. $ 7 for on half of an avocado and some chips was one example, along with a truly meager bit of chèvre on the beet salad I ordered. Also, please note that beer from a bottle isn’t something one pours into a large balloon wine glass, nor should champagne be «on the rocks».

My husband and I had mussels for an appetizer and had captures salad and shrimp linguine for an entrée and it was so good! I highly recommend this spot and glad we were able to eat here before we left to go back to NYC. Our waitress and the owner were so personable and I would highly recommend and when we are in town next we will be back for sure! And again, food was great!!!
