Nice pub in Delray away from the craziness a few blocks to the west. The thing to get is the fish and chips(go for the small order… it was more than enough) The meal is not greasy. Lots of beer on tap and live entertainment from time to time.

Great Irish pub. It’s dark, old and full of beer options. Just like an Irish pub should be! Large menu, and what I’ve had was good.

High prices and poor quality food. I had the blackened 8oz fish that was no more than 4oz and way overcooked. You may ask why I accepted the plate and it was because we were invited out. Establishment also does not feel clean.

I have been to this restaurant a few times. Food. Ok. My personal grilled cheese is far better than what their cooks will ever make. Service is very slow. Restrooms are dirty. In the future, I will keep walking by.

I was going to give this place four stars, however I spotted two ants running around my plate and lost my appetite. Also they overlooked my burger by a few notches, I ordered a medium and received a medium well. On the positive side, nice décor, good menu with a few authentic English dishes to chose from, and a few soccer fans during important matches.

On a cloudy or rainy day Ocean Avenue is a perfect strip to stroll. Among the abundance of bars and restaurants one place stands out: Blue Anchor, there is no way you can miss the façade of the old British pub in kind of unusual place as sunny Florida. None should miss to go in and try their hand drawn beers too, nor enjoy the real pint sizes served there. One can also have a meal made in the best traditions of the English pub food culture. During mu last visit we ended up munching non healthy appetizers instead of real food, fries are good, onion rings are great, but I want to write about the Irish boxties. We spent a lot of time discussing if they are prepared as in Ireland and even our Irish host participated in the conversation, the conclusion is they are not the same, but they are better. The Irish boxties are balls of whipped potatoes with garlic and cheese, then they are skillfully fried quickly, so quickly that they will remain light and puffy inside, and will have a beautiful crust, that doesn’t feel oily at all. Served with the home made horse radish dip they are your perfect addition to the hand pulled imported ales. Cheers!

Hands down the best fish n chips I’ve ever had! We go there once a week to get it. Seriously amazing. Great bar staff and the place is as authentic as it gets. Always a great place to grab a pint and a pickle back!

Food average to poor. Beer good, service just okay. Would have liked some knowledge about the beers which were a big deal on their menu, but server had no knowledge of them.

Beer. Burgers. Basic. But good. Don’t expect fancy though. All the wait staff seem to be English or something– and they suggest mayo on fries.

We liked the Blue Anchor, it has a homey, local pub feel. The fish and chips are very good nice happy hour prices. No view, just nice«local» feel to it.

I was craving a proper English meal and I had been here before many many years ago so my honey and I took a ride to the far side to get my fix the day after Christmas. Our waiter came over to take our drink order and informed us that because of the holidays the first pint was on the house! Nice! Very nice! We ordered the Irish Boxtys to start, pretty much a fried mash potato balls, and that was tasty. Crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside and not greasy. I then ordered what I had really been craving. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding! My plate arrived and I could hardly wait to dig in. I took one bite and I could not have been more disappointed. The roast beef was thin slices of meat that looked and tasted like it was something you would get at the deli… no I take that back because the roast beef at the deli is pink… this was over cooked, slices of something. Not sure what I would call it. The gravy was salty and it tasted like jar gravy and it was on everything so the entire dish was saty! The Yorkshire pudding… well that was burnt. The only thing was that decent was the mashed potatoes(the bit I was able to taste without the gravy) and the mushy peas. No English meal is complete without sherry trifle. Again not great. It had plenty of sherry. but that was about it. It needed more custard… more fruit more something. We drove a long way for a very disappointing meal. Need to get my fix somewhere else next time.

Ok i’m giving this place 2 stars for the ambiance but the food leaves a lot to be desired from what we experienced here. We ordered the Ploughman’s appetizer which was supposed to consist of «English blue stilton or american Cheddar on a crisp, fresh salad, with english Pickled onions, branston relish, oven fresh French roll & butter» but what we were served was a white bread roll, a small piece of blue cheese, over refrigerated mushy tomatoes, wilted lettuce, freezer burned cucumber slices, some jarred pearl onions that had seen better days. and a few foil wrapped pieces of Land o Lakes butter. It was absolutely inedible. Other dishes we ordered were poor quality as well. On the plus side the atmosphere and staff are great.

‘Ello chaps! Ahhh, a place where I feel right at home. Located in the heart of downtown Delray Beach, The Blue Anchor British Pub is your English home away from home. This is a neat spot featuring genuine English beers, food décor and atmosphere. Bangers N/Mash, Shepard’s Pie to Fish and Chips — you’ll find it all. British beer and a bit of European style football can always be found on tap. This is a must visit for tourists and locals alike.

This is the PUB to go to. The décor was moved over from the UK is authentic and comfortable. Our waitress, she was very nice and the service was quick. Very good food! Their Fish & Chips were out this world(French fries are worth fighting over!) I had a great evening.

It was my wifey’s birthday weekend and this place was our Friday night gathering spot for this weekends events. What a fun time. There were 15 – 20 of us. This is the PUB to go to. We had Laurie as our waitress and she was very nice. Further in the evening, we the very good bartender Casey, cater to our needs. Very good food! Their French fries are worth fighting over! They had a live band that was very very good and kept us entertained all night.

This is a review for the bar only as we only stopped in for a couple of drinks. Truly authentic British Pub feel. Tons of locals. Great bartenders. Lots of beer and ales on tap. Lots of pints being sold but the mixed drinks were great as well. Plenty of Brits working and visiting here too. Food looked good

Best spot on Atlantic! Having spent 20+ years in the UK, I can say this is about as good as it gets, at least in Florida! It looks and feels just like the real deal, from the outside façade to the inside panels it is dark and dingy. The food is simple and great, and of course the beer! There is no pretentious nonsense on the menu and the crowd are more down to earth and the atmosphere here is great.

The most down to earth place on Atlantic to have a drink in my opinion. The pub, which as others have mentioned was moved over from the UK, is authentic and comfortable with just the right amount of anonymity and bar-funk mixed in. We got a few pints and some delicious fried pickles and settled in for the evening. Service was quick. My only complaint was the awful playlist which totally dishonored the British pub vibe they worked so hard to create. Billy Joel and the Doobie Brothers? Get the f*ck outta here! What they needed was some Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, and Stones to perpetuate the whole British feel. Hearing«Uptown Girl» just took me right out of it.

The smell of stale air and cigarettes from years past immediately hits you when you walk into this divey British-esque pub. If you can get beyond that, this seems like a decent and much less pretentious drink option on the Delray strip. Wood grain and dim lighting throughout the bar make it feel like a few of the pubs I’ve visited during my trips to the UK. In the corner there was a cover band making half hearted attempts at Beatles and Stones song. It was a fun and drunk atmosphere. Our waitress/bartender was quick to get our drink order from one of the high tops near the bar. Unfortunately the beers were a bit too expensive for my liking, but I guess this is a night life tourist area so it didn’t deter anyone. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go to this place, but if you’re in the area and you fancy a quick drink, it’s a good option.
