Came for a burlesque show and was surprised that there was pretty much no seating. A few plastic tables had been set up for observers/judges, but otherwise to see the stage you have to stand around. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if they started on time, but they didn’t, and then once the band started to play their sound was so jacked up I could basically only hear the guitar and drums and the volume was up so loud they were distorted. This was AFTER a thirty minute«sound check» where we all got to stand around and listen to someone in charge of the sound completely screw it up so that for the rest of the night we could barely hear the singer as they did covers of various songs for the dancers. At least the show was fun, but this venue sucks.

If your going to see a legitamite band there its a great place good sound not flat and loud like most places. its not to big so you can see a band up close and its a great experience. drink prices are same as everywhere else. usually even if its a famous band it still costs about ten bucks the reason it doesnt get 5 stars is dont be fooled into coming here on a theme or dance night where no bands are playing. Its mediocre and sad and not worth the cover.

Update to what’s below: Apparently Hailey’s has a $ 15 card minimum so that’s why they’ve consistently been overcharging anyone who uses cards there and who doesn’t buy $ 15 worth of drinks. Someone told me they have a sign that says this, but it’s not in a reasonable location where you would actually see it. That’s a terrible business practice and I’m surprised they can even do that, but if you must go, BRINGCASH!

Love going to 90s night here! Closest thing to a club Denton will see I think. Good sized stage for performances and dance floor. The bartenders are not personable at all(you can say that’s all bartenders but I would say otherwise). The biggest issue I have is that they over charge my tab every time I’ve gone. It’s happened to 2 of my friends also. So I suggest bringing only cash when you go and only go for 90s night or a band your into. Other than that you will find far better spots to drink or hang out.

first off. Hailey’s 2008=5STARS. Hailey’s NOW=1 star. Hailey’s has changed for the worst over the years and I understand their trying to improve. But since the most previous renovation, the feel of Hailey’s is not Denton ATALL. It’s more like a Dallas bar and long-time livers and lovers of Denton may agree. For the love of everything Denton, I’m here to float away from Dallas, come on. $ 8 single wells? and skimpy dressed sparkly bartender girls carrying shots that glow on a tray? NO Thank you. I miss you Hailey’s 90s night 2009 and I miss you Hailey’s when big acts came to play your stage, like camera obscura from scottland in 2010, and Born Ruffians soon after! Sorry… :(I am more disappointed than the company, I am sure!

Five stars. Came here for my friends 21st on 90s night and had so much fun. Cheap drinks and our bartender was very nice. Definitely going back!

Good sound at this venue, but the rest of the place needs work. I don’t know if they have a resident dog? Or maybe people just let dogs run wild here without leashes? But I really hate it when people that bring their dogs to crowded bars. Especially a music venue. Seriously? Patio bars with your pup is one thing… this is not appropriate. Sorry for my rant :) The bartenders seemed new at the job and unable to handle a small crowd. Drinks were cheap. I’ll go back to support local bands I know, but even that’s going to be a rare occasion.

Well, loud is the first word that comes to mind when describing Hailey’s. Granted the show that was going on had something to do with that. I had gotten off of work and saw that some fellow Unilocalers who I’ve hung out with before ended up there. I had never been, passed it several times but never went in. I’ve lived in Denton for over three years now and I know Denton has a great music scene, but this was my first exposure to it. Still not sure why that is. It turns out the other people were here for one of the bands. The guy used to play in a band with the guitar player on stage and was from his hometown in East Texas. Good enough. As I stated, loud music, really interesting lead singer, and the drummer was amusing. The headliner band? Nothing to write about. Decent sized location, good selection of beers, pool tables off to the right of the stage area and a place I could see going back to as long as there was some good tunes going on. Support Denton Businesses.

I really want to like Hailey’s more. I really do. They have an excellent sound system, and they often have some excellent bands. They also have a great beer selection, though some of the beers can be pretty expensive. Unfortunately, the place is absolutely *FILTHY*. I’ve often seen liquid running out of the men’s restroom from broken toilets, and if you don’t see roaches doing backstrokes in the toilets then you’re blind. I’ve seen plenty of roaches running around on the bar too. The ONLY reason I’m giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is I’ve discovered a lot of great bands there.

So, I grew up in Denton and have come to think of it as somewhat of a diamond in the rough, culturally speaking. As a creative space, Hailey’s, at one time was THE place to see real acts in Denton. I’ve heard a variety of rumors about what happened, but suffice to say that this place now blows. Though, they may at one time have held a monopoly on the most substantial draft selection, Oak Street Drafthouse has decidedly taken that Title. I could give at least 5 negative anecdotes, but I don’t want to bring myself down to their management’s level. If I found out they’ve starting serving Franconia brews(and quit under utilizing their venue-potential) perhaps I’ll go again and update this review accordingly…

I wouldn’t even give them a full star. I’ve never been treated so badly by an establishment especially one based upon customer service. Bar’s/Clubs make their money from drink sells, and this one didn’t even care that they had missed 8 customers not including my husband and I. Our biggest(literally speaking also) problem was the unpleasant looking guy who talked to us so rudely and told us we could leave when we made a comment on how odd it was that they weren’t opening on time. While we waisted over 30 minutes of our time outside in the cold the unpleasant man ran back and forth from Hailey’s to whatever bar around the corner the owners were watering at. They apparently cared more about drinking than serving drinks. So at 9:30(30 mins past opening time and the time the bands were supposed to start) we decided to wait no longer in the cold and left. Of course the unpleasant man told our friends whose bands we were their to see that he kicked us out… Like I said in my quick tip the place was LAME.

Ugh, Hailey’s. I find myself dragged here every so often by old-school music enthusiasts. Tuesday is 90’s Night, Thursday is 80’s Night. The playlist is predictable: plenty of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Beastie Boys, Cher, etc, so if that’s your thing, have fun. The bar is always crowded($ 1 wells most nights and an impressive selection of beers on tap) but the large dance floor is generally sparsely populated with sub-21 white kids trying to look cool bouncing their knees and bobbing their heads by themselves pretending to know who Courtney Love is. The lack of any real visuals or light system(oh, sorry, I forgot about the Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling) gives off a vibe of dimly-lit lame house party. I have to say, I’m a little scared of the people here and have made it a rule to NOT give out my number to the Chatty Cathys because, Lord, the ones who did get it turned out to be real creeps. Seriously, girls, don’t venture outside your group. Yes, it was awesome rocking out to the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers theme song, but I can only handle so much nostalgia… and feeling old.

I felt like I was back in the 80’s when I walked in here. I think they have an 80’s night, Minimal but funky décor. Front bar, middle dance floor with stage, back area with pool tables, couches for lounging or laptop work, and a vivid mural. Shoulda come here sooner.

So upon first moving to Denton 5 years ago, 80s night on Thursdays was the talk of the town. It’d be constantly packed with dressed-up and costumed hipsters, but it was still hella fun to dance. The alcohol is there to lube you out of your awkwardness and pretend you can dance as well as most of the people there. Also, you’d always hear Michael Jackson. and I’m a fan of this. Nowadays its the 90s night on Tuesdays that everyone raves about. I never went and now that I’ve moved away, I can’t vouch for them. but if you’re looking for a place to get down and boogey with some relatively cheap drinks, I say you have to go and try at least once. It’s a great venue for bands. Awesome sound, and ample room for a pretty large audience. The fact that they open up both bars at opposite sides of the venue is hella fantastic. The bartenders have always been pretty friendly and efficient, and I’ve never had to wait too long for a drink. I also always wanted to try Salsa Mondays. So go, and live, and dance for me! And you. Mostly you.

Hailey’s has it’s ups and downs. For the past year, it has been on the up! They truly attract way better bands than most venues in Dallas(excluding Granada). There is a great selection of beer. Seems every time I go there is a new brew to try. The sound has gotten so much better, not sure how. Keep it up!

Great venue in Denton. 90’s night on Tuesday’s is always a good time and there is a new Wednesday night showcase of DJ’s called«No Homework» put on by Yeahdef. The sound is great, the people are always having a good time, and drinks are average-priced for Denton. I can easily spend a night there with drinks and good music for under $ 20. Hailey’s is the only bar in Denton where I’ll go by myself for a DJ night if I don’t have anything else going on. I always end up running into someone I know at Hailey’s!

I can only vest for the concert experience. Ample seating for the time between acts. Sound is so-so, I coudln’t hear the vocals too well even when the artists asked for a volume increase. I’m not sure why they made me sign a receipt. It’s either for I’ve showed up with my ticket or to verify my age. Either way I don’t feel it’s necessary.

Pretty decent and mellow venue for music. They have a couple of rare acts that tour here nationally. It gives me a thrill to line up there. Lots of music snobs. Two bars with great selections. Pool tables around, if you hate the music. Booze to get you numb. 80s night gets you crazy and dancing around with random people. Lots of places to lounge. It’s pretty relaxed and funny when bands are wandering around the floor before playing live.

There are two sides to Hailey’s: the 80s night side and the Fri-Wed night side. Back in my younger days I would frequent Hailey’s when 80s night was the place to be. It was fun, music was great, and most everyone had style. But, no longer. On my most recent visit to Denton(I moved to Chicago over a year ago) I noticed that the crowd is now mostly composed of young girls vigorously trying to wash off the X’s on their hands and older(MUCH older) men who are clearly trying to remind themselves of their youth. When they had hair. If you go on any other night, it’s probably going to be much less crowded and you can partake in their amazing drink specials. They really do have the most expansive beer selection in Denton that I’ve noticed. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the handful of band shows I’ve seen here and thought that the sound quality was very good. But the main reason I made consistent visits to Hailey’s was the staff. Khaliah(former doorgirl, now bartender) is one of the raddest ladies I’ve ever met and Erin(now living in Austin) rocks my world. I recommend spending some alcohol money here, but do be prepared to see a fair amount of American Apparel and Urban Outfitters merchandise. Hell, I dont mind — it’s better than looking at slouchy cargo shorts and muffin tops at the Fry Street bars.
