Went by here at 12:45pm Wednesday, December 17, 2004 and it looks like they have closed down.

I thought I would give this place another try since it had been a while and Chuy’s parking lot was packed. My son and daughter ordered a lemonade only to be told they were out so they went with a Sprite instead only for the waitress to come back and say they were out of Sprite. We settled on Rt Beer and when it was brought out we were informed they were out of lids for the kids cups. Bathrooms were disgusting with both the towel dispenser and soap dispenser broken so they had work arounds to accommodate for their poor up keep. Bonus points: They did bring out some free queso to make up for them being out of everything. We ordered the fajita trio for 2 but it only came out for 1. None of the 3 meats had any type of seasoning. The beans and rice and salsa were good on the upside. I see that my 2 brothers have previously left poor reviews so this completes the Miles trifecta — go up the road to Chuy’s.

Walked in, got seated right away and ordered a glass of merlot. Waiter came back and the glass looked like a 3 oz pour. Didn’t offer water either. So then he takes my order, I order blackened tilapia which is supposed to come with rice and sauteed veggies. My order comes back and the fish was baked(NOT blackened), there was no rice on the plated and the veggies were sauteed but slathered in grease w/little or no seasoning. By this time, I’m so unimpressed, I just decide to eat my meal and vowed to never come back. I then order another glass of merlot and was going to ask for a 5 oz pour(which is standard)…the waiter then admits and says«oh, that glass you got was the last of our merlot, that’s why it’s so empty.» I then say I’m not paying for it but asked if he could get a Pinot Noir, he said he didn’t know what a Pinot Noir is!?! I told him to advise the bartender and they should know. He comes back 5 minutes later and says, we don’t have that either. Are you kidding me?!? Then, to top it off, when I go to pay(in fairness they didn’t charge me for the 3 oz merlot) he tells me they don’t have receipt paper and would have to manually process my credit card by taking an impression of my credit card!?! Also, There was a large party in the back room they were coming out and talking with the staff and you could tell they were not happy and some hadn’t even gotten served. However, here was the biggest part. Besides the large party in the back room, I was dining by myself and maybe 3 other couples/families in the main dining room. Well, I was seated in a booth closest to the hostess stand. I could hear the cooks behind the bar area preparing food and cussing up a storm(someone, a male, dropped the«F» word 3 times) the entire time and talking very loudly. I don’t mind cussing, I just don’t want to hear it in a restaurant while I’m trying to enjoy by 3 oz glass of crappy merlot and undercooked/wrongly cooked«blackened» tilipia. This family owned local restaurant used to be much better when it first opened but has gone downhill since. Too bad.

Sunday brunch is under $ 10 and has an excellent buffet! It was so good everything was fresh and tasted home made! The restaurant is really fancy! This is a great stop to or from winstar casino or after a movie!

Walked in. There was a girl at hostess stand that just stared at us. No words. A minute later a guy comes to seat us. I had to ASK for chips and salsa. Had to ASK for silverware. ASK for plates. Toilet paper was a huge roll just sat in the stall. No holder. The waiter was bad. Cute, but bad. Asked him what they put in their guac. His reply–«I don’t know. I used to work at another Mexican place and they put tomatoes and lime and stuff». Oh lort. Lort. Lort. The food wasn’t bad at all. Tasty. The chips were a little hard. Not stale, just hard. I don’t know how this place is still in business. Maybe they launder money through it. Lol jk. They need customer service training and they’ll be fine. Nice atmosphere. Pretty.

Always good food. Too bad the management can’t come up with servers that are consistent with the quality of their food…

Decent food… this restaurant is NOT vegetarian friendly, NOT kid friendly… extremely slow service, and our server seemed confused and unsure of what he was doing… when i asked if he was new, he said that he had worked there for a long time… would recommend going somewhere else…

Went there with my wife for lunch this past Friday. We were the only diners. She ordered a chicken fajita while I went for the chicken/beef/cheese enchiladas. Mine was tasty while hers was less so. The waitress was pleasant but less-than-attentive. OK, all in all, but I’ll try elsewhere next time.

Tried this for the 1st time today… not impressed. * Had fajitas — Shrimp was completely tasteless without any seasoning. * Flamado cheese as appetizer — SALTY and greasy. Just dont. * FLIESFLIESFLIES! SWATTEDENTIREMEAL. * Bathrooms need work. Large toilet rolls just left on floor to use. Same with paper towels. Not one holder. Pretty unhygienic. * Servers stood around watching boxing. Ate our chips without silverware for 10 minutes. * Drinks should be bigger. Just go to Chuys!!! Won’t return.

My son and I took my aunt for lunch here last week… floors were filthy, especially at the hostess stand… my aunt asked what the soup of the day was and the waitress responded«I don’t know… I’m new» and just proceeded to stand there. My aunt said«do you think you can find out?» My beef taco salad was lettuce, green olives, taco meat and a TON of sour cream in a stale tortilla shell… my son and aunt said their taco plate was good. This is a place my son really liked so I’m hoping we can give it another chance and we will be pleased…

It’s Mothers Day… DON’T COME! I’m so pissed I’m writing this from my table. I called last night & was told Mothers Day Brunch started at 10am. We arrived promptly to avoid crowds and were told they wouldn’t open until 10:30 due to a late night UNT grad party. When they let us in, the floors were filthy, the green and white balloons from last nights party are the décor for today. The buffet is a JOKE… ran out of food after 4 – 5 tables served themselves. They said the waffles and omelettes were made to order today. We were the 1st table to be seated, a table of 5, and two of the four omelettes came out wrong and my waffle NEVER came. They NEVER should have left last night with the restaurant being as filthy as it is and should have been plenty prepared for one of the busiest days of the year. All I can say is AWFULAWFULAWFUL! I felt sorry for the waitress… she was so embarrassed and took 10% off the bill and didn’t charge us for juice. Sorry… this wont make me return. Trust me… don’t do it! Go wait in line somewhere and use the time to visit with your Mom.

If you are wanting tex mex… go to a different restaurant. Los Toreros is supposed to be an upscale Tex Mex venue and misses the mark on both counts. The faitas appears to be heated frozen chicken rather than grilled, steamed onions and peppers. Six people at the table and no one cared for their food. The service was not at all upscale.

Restaurant is under new management. I’ve always like this place it’s locally owned and operated. I love the specials and can recommend this place. I take friends here all the time and they love it.

I came hang out after work at the business nearby. There margaritas was great, we went to the happy hours also, big discount there. The chip and salsa gave a nice kick. My friend had tropical salad; I had a bite of some and I definitely have it for myself next time. I tried the Shrimp Kabob, there was definitely more shrimp than I want to but the size of those shrimp a bit smaller than I want to, but for the price I paid, good for me. Definitely good experience, will come back.

Atmosphere: Classy stripmall? Seems to be riffing off of the stylings of the popular Gloria’s restaurant chain. Seems a bit out of place for the location though. Food: The street tacos were off the charts. Would HIGHLY recommend. My wife got the enchiladas and they looked(and she reported they tasted) just run of the mill. Service was decent. Not sure I’ll be returning.

Seriously, look at the bad reviews compared to the good reviews? shouldn’t that be a red flag? I’ve decided to only go here for their«night club» because I know the DJ’s and many UNT organizations hold socials there but as far as food, I’ve tasted way better. It’s a place you can’t avoid if you’re a part of an organization that’s for sure. Both at the«club» and restaurant, there is an entrance wait and the waiters are a hit and miss– some friendly, others are the most rude I’ve ever met. I don’t care if you’re the family member of the owner, I’m still a customer. I’ve definitely reduced my visitation to this restaurant and I agree with other reviews– if you can’t drive to dallas for authentic Mexican, just go to Chuy’s where the ambiance is welcoming and the food is worth going back for.

A group of 7 decided to check this place out since Chuy’s was an hour+ wait. We should have waited. The service was good, no issues on it. We were seated immediately. They were attentive up until the end when it took a while to get our check. My raspberry tea was flavored Brisk tea but they were good on refills. The chips and salsa was pretty good. They sprinkled something on top and weren’t sure if it was seasoned salt or paprika. The salsa had a nice kick. They kept them filled during our time there. It went from good to much worse when we ordered our food. My girlfriend decided to try the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. It tasted like a brick of cream cheese with artichokes & spinich sprinkled in then microwaved with some cheese on top. It was the blandest dip that I’ve ever had. I ordered the Pobleno Chicken. I am usually tolerant most Mexican food but after three bites I had to stop. The chicken tasted like it was injected with smoke. The sauce on top was autrocious. They called it «secret sauce» but I found it repulsive. The mixed in mushrooms was pieces and stems from a can. The included rice wasn’t even edible. My girlfriend got the salmon which she thought was decent. It had a honey soy sauce glaze which she liked. She said the included rice and mash potatoes were okay. No one else at the table had any complaints. The desserts looked very appealing. Everyone tried one of their dessert specialties and they were quiet pleased. It is about the only reason why I don’t give a 1-star. If you want good Mexican food, I highly suggest in sticking with Chuy’s up the road. This place gets a big giant AVOID label.

Gah… this place looks so good. I mean, the inside is really pretty and they have a patio that i would certainly dine on if only the food were better. I tried some chicken enchiladas with a mole sauce… these weren’t very good, but i wouldn’t give them a 2 star review for that because i’ve never tried mole sauce before so it may be that i just don’t like the stuff. I don’t know if it was their mole sauce i don’t like or mole sauce in general. I’ll have to try it several places elsewhere before i make up my mind on that one. The salsa is so-so…the beans they give you as a side actually excited me because they didn’t look like your standard refried beans. I couldn’t wait to try them, but alas, no flavor. Seriously, no flavor. I have also tried their chicken enchiladas with tomatilla salsa and i KNOW i like chicken enchiladas with tomatilla salsa. The tortillas were very dry as was the chicken. I was going to try their queso, but they forgot to pack in in my to-go order, so i have no idea if it’s good or not. I wish i had checked my bag before i left, so i won’t hold this against them. I know 2 stars seems really low but i cannot stress enough how flavorless this food was. I had such high hopes… maybe things will improve.

Nice décor. Mediocre service. Flavorless food. We will not be coming back. I had chile rellano and could not even taste the chile. The beans taste like cardboard and have an orange color. My husband had enchiladas and tacos al carbon… same thing… no flavor. Pricey for the quality of the food.

This time we took four friends with us. I was pleased to see that the place was packed. There was a wait when we arrived, and we noticed that 2 parties of four that arrived after we did, got seated first. Perhaps, next time we’ll call ahead. This is definitely the most upscale Mexican cuisine in Denton– and the crowd reflected it. We started with queso, chips and salsa. My end of the table ran low on salsa twice but our wait person happily refilled when asked. Great homemade salsa, and warm chips– yum! This time, I took a leap of faith and ordered something really interesting on the menu. The grilled shrimp & sauerkraut wrap with sweet potato fries. It was a large wrap, easily shareable with another adventurous palate. And, stuffed with avocado, lettuce, some kind of yummy sauce, shrimp & kraut. Not sure who thought up the creation but it really was tasty. I got my hubby to try it too and he liked it. Somehow, the combination of grilled shrimp and kraut just works! Hats off to Pierre and the rest of the Los Toreros staff! We’ll definitely be back– I haven’t had a good mole sauce outside of San Antonio. And, the fish selections there are probably a great bet as well :)
